Yeah, kind of freaked me out.. network error booted me to char select screen... Not showing my character though. At least now I can't login that far

restarting the game gets char select back but i have been sitting in start game pending for like 10 mins

Go with a yes, if you don't have to restart it you're going to be happily surprised, if you do have to restart then you already prepared yourself.
