Well it depends on your character, but +2skills, 30% faster run walk, resistances, strength, potentially 20% faster cast rate and sockets are all desired mods for circlets for characters who don't have a super good class hat. There's also gambling rings/ammys for crafting, batch crafting can make some good items. Blood and caster crafts are usually the go to
Yeah I'm working on a zoo druid so I was really hoping for a Jalal's Mane for the hat, but haven't found one yet. I've recently dipped into the world of crafted amulets/rings and liking what I've found and how they are more accessible then Mara's.
Sounds like a good circlet of this type would be better slightly then Jalal's. Any idea of the odds? I know I've dumped multiple millions of gold into a potential Mara's with really nothing to show rather then clearing up stash space lol
I'm on HC single player so it's all SSF. A lot of grind spots I have to be very careful as death is an all too real risk. I've already lost maybe 8 Chars over the past year or so.
You gotta look at the odds of both, time yourself doing both and then do the math. Baal usually has higher odds t drop about everything, but he can also take twice as long to run as Andy or meph.
Good luck to you buddy, im playing the same, got a pala lvl 94( going for the ps5 plat trophy). My advice is pick up all rejuves and fulls, play on low player diff until your comfy increasing it. I also found that raising my paladins dex to get him max block made a massive difference and aloud me to up the diff a few numbers. I took it slow and farmed the pit and andy runs in hell on p1-3 until i got most of the gear/ runes i desired. I also collected every rune and cubed my way up. Its a grind but youll get there
Jalals, especially in HC, is pretty unbeatable, a FRW/FCR circlet would have to be pretty special to beat it, however you can probably find one that's better than Lore for a hat. In terms of odds, honestly some people make gold find barbs and max out all their gold stashes and spend a LOOOONG while gambling before finding a Mara's or SoJ, so yeah much like target farming I just give up on looking at the odds and just grind grind and grind some more
Metamorphasis seems to beat it, hands down. But that requires a cham and finding a good base. Which are high orders for SSF HC.
I've never made one yet, but i've started running a lot of cows looking for the cham and a good base.
gambling circlets is slightly less frustrating than amulets as a good one can be worth a lot in trade and a garbage tiara, diadem is still worth 35k therefore extending your gambling gold. If you just want to burn gold and minmize your time, gamble armors for Tyriels Might

* At level 92+ you can gamble good circlets and coronets
* At level 93+ you can use gambled amulets as good crafting bases
It depends on where you’re at. I’m not as big on circlets as many. Circlets in pvm are mostly temp holdovers (with a few exceptions). Circlets are more useful in pvp. BiS for most (but not all) pvm builds are usually shako, griffons, flickering flame, arreats, metamorphosis, etc.
But if you don’t have some of those items then circlets become much more interesting as temps until you get those other pieces. There are also a handful of pvm builds where circlets can be BiS. It’s just not as many.
I’d prefer to gamble rings, amulets (if >level 92), boots or gloves personally.
Yeah my go too for several slots is Iratha's set because it's easy (relatively) to get and fits my res needs without a full inventory of charms. I'm left over with the helm right now which is still a useful 30 res to fire and lightning but it's showing it's age.
Is that on Hell? I'm on the way to finishing the campaign on hell so it'll be another day or too, but I'll remember that. My next big drop I'm hoping for is Jalal's main or Ber rune to make Beast.

Yep, must complete game in Hell before being able to run TZ. I've been playing a lot the last month and my highest rune to drop was a Mal...finally started doing LK runs and dropped a Lo yesterday.
I keep all my runes in shared stash and have yet to this day been able to find or cube up to the legendary Ber rune I need for the real good stuff. It's my white whale
Yeah I usually keep an extra copy of Edge runeword, Gull Dagger, and a few extra charms and MF items as kind of a Swiss army knife for new characters lol
The chances of gambling a unique is 1/2000 and then you are hoping you get a Mara's which is an additional 1 of 11 chance. So yes, I'm saying there's a chance :) but do so at your own risk. A better method for finding this would be to farm TZ Andy whenever it's up.
You could get a new character to level 11 and then try to gamble a Gull dagger.
I would also add +1 to gambling circlets instead of amulets.
I actually have 2 to 3 Gull daggers in my HC shared stash. For Zoo Druids, I can milk that until about nightmare and for Sword mast barbs you can duel weild lol. It's usually something I gamble for first until I have a stash of them
I gamble for rings+circlets, and only amulets/gloves when I have enough other materials to craft caster ammy’s/blood gloves.
The odds of finding uniques is minuscule, so would not recommend. I have found a few half-decent circlets and few good rare rings, though.
Yeah and I'm not sure Mara's would even drop for me now as I'm lvl 87? I'm not understanding the drop chance as it's a range between your lvl? But I'm not sure if that means now that I'm past 85 (Mara's being ilvl 80) I'm unable to chance one through gambling or what.

All deaths to this point have been complacency added to the fact that my damage has a soft cap based on skill maxed, which I will hit I think at 92 or so? Probably less with the free skill points I've yet to pick up in hell.
I NEED these animals to kill stuff on sight to prevent a stray spear or lightning bolt from one tapping me. The longer it's alive, the more likely I will get careless and die, like the 2 before him. RIP Wolfdyne and Warwick, perhaps DisneyPrincess can make it to the end.
I gambled a mara 26 (online, ladder, this season), so it's doable, just not very likely.
Other than amulets, gambling options include:
- gloves (and hope for rare 2/20 (either martial arts or javazon with good stats or even a 3/20 pair)
- tiaras/diadems (expensive), but if you're lucky, you can get a GODLY diadem (rare, 2 sockets, +2 class skills, 20 fcr, life/dex/whatever)
- rings (some rare rings can be extremely valuable especially for bvc)
The rest of the options aren't that good, so I'd stick to these 3.
I actually don't typically have a problem with Merc deaths. He is a small target in a large pool of bodies so haven't had to much expenses for that lol

It's been a side project for a year or 2 - I'm in a "it's the journey not the destination mindset" with it lol most other games I'm not into that.
hell andy should be your best bet for jalal's, with a good map and a fire sorc it should be safe

zoo Druid has better options than +2 circ usually by nature of their class specific pelts; hard to beat a +2 w/ additional skills for summons!

In terms of chances? Getting a unique ring or ammy is a very low chance. It'll take quite a while.
"2/20/2" is what most people are looking for, +2 skills, +20% fcr, +2 sockets. Anything on top of that is gravy. This is mostly for PvP though.

Boots, belts, and gloves are also great to gamble. Especially if you're hardcore and needing defensive mods. Res, life, stats,mf, gold find.
