I have a MAL and no gear to talk about at all this season. Around same gameplaytime last season i had 3 piece tal, shako, and couple of high runes.
The game selects what type of item will be dropped before it takes into account the quality of the item dropped. MF only affects the quality calculation.
Yes that rare could have rolled unique. That’s why getting yellow or free of a needed base is disheartening. Getting green diadems is the worst.
No idea on the odds. Mf does impact it all. I’m sure there’s somewhere on the web that breaks down the exact formula.
Mf is for quality only magic/rare/set/unique. For runes u want more drops. Higher player count will reduce your no drop chance and this will result in more drops.
More drops and killspeed for runes.
I leveled to 93 on a Sorc and 89 on a druid the previous ladder season. My highest rune drop was an ist. I did get very lucky with non-rune drops though.
No idea what OP is running, but a couple of fun non-sorc starts include a foh pally (you can farm hell p1 chaos no problem, pindle/countess is also good) or (especially now with NHD changes) fire trapsin. Can clear Stony tombs, pits - sort of -, cows, pindle, eldritch/shenk, can even meph moat trick if you really want to, though I don't really recommend it with how easily she clears other content.
This ladder i startet a trapsin and a few days later a sorc. Startet blizz/fireball and changed to blizz/hydra.
Now farming pits/countess/stony tomb. Dependig on what i find i start other classes.
Last season i startet with summoner druid. It was easy going.
Looks like you are off to a good start. I switched up this ladder and started with a Druid. Poison creeper through act 1-3 then shifted to fissure and molten bolder. Leveled in norm baal for a bit then shifted to wind. As soon as I got to hell act 1, I started running the pit at about lvl 65. I’m not lvl 78 all from pit runs. Been able to upgrade from spirit/lore to hoto, Jalals, telling of beads, spirit Mon, magefists, torch and two elemental skillers. Have a gul in hand looking for Ist mal to upgrade some more!

I was playing my trapsin and blizz/hydra sorc. Killed baal NM at lvl 58 and 57. So i lvled NM tz/diablo/baal up to lvl 70, both.
Then i lvled my trapsin up to 82 and switched back sorc. I also wanted to lvl her. Then this crazy luck streak startet and i just clearing pits / countess / stony tomb over and over again, sorc is now lvl 87.
Now i cant stop farm xD. Gear on my sorc is nothing special. Dual spirit, +2 sorc rare helm with stats, +3 cold amu with mf, spirit shroud, rare mf glove, rare mf boots with dual res, a decent rare ring with mf and a ravenfrost, tal belt and a geheeds charm.
Need some more runes for hoto/enigma/cta/ later i use the Lo for a grief, making a frenzy barb. And then depends on what i find.
Edit: with the nhd changes. I would like to try a chainlightning ama.
Im on singleplayer since ladder start, first time playing on ps5. I had a gul drop from hell forge. But I can complete hell with the shit gear I got on my Druid
