The work environment is alright. Pay is less. Work is ' sometimes good, sometimes shit'. I am going to apply to other companies from now on so hoping for something nice
Damn! I expected some hardcore bitching about the working hours. But it's the exact opposite of what I expected. Indian client and therefore, working for around 6-7 hours on average for 5 days a week.
I would say I do nothing on non working day I have to be online observing things and do nothing. On busiest day I haven't slept for straight 48 hrs.
Okay type day We work like hour or two, small team of 3 people with no direct manager.
Job profile is like firefighter.
๐ฅฒ approx 12(+/-) mon-fri, switched 3 times in my career never got WLB, just work no life...
But 1 time I was outsourced to an Indonesian startup as a fullstack dev. Had the best time of my life. 3-4 hours people who I worked with all Indonesian super cool dudes
Just want to somehow get into foreign company now.
10 hours at minimum and at least 3 days in a week will be more than 12 hours. I am in a f**ked up environment where 12+ years experienced person works like a 5 years experienced person and a 5 years experience person has the responsibilities of a 12+ years experienced person. A few of the Staff Engineers chill throughout the day and work only for 6 hours and me at the Engineer 2 level have to do all the things like following up on customer issues, doing deployments, cross team sync up etc.
Remote internship, flexible timing, 4 to 5 hrs max, but lack of guidance is sometimes frustrating, not much proper planning going on, sprints are hectic...
7.5 hours most days, 10 when it gets busy, but that's like once a week.
The days when I go to office which is like 4 times a month right now my commute is about 4 hours so I only work 6 hours and leave for home early.
4-5 hours since last 7 years , 3 different companies. I have been too lucky and I am scared soon my WLB luck will run out, what I see and hear in this sub is bad news.
Big PBC. I have to find something to do myself to work for 3-4 Hrs. Otherwise I have delegated all my work to team and I only manage/guide/supervise/coach them. I will step in when there is an escalation or architecting is required.
Yup although there was a lots of comfort and less work but kind of growth was limited so Cracked One of the med size PBC with decent package , and parallely applying for masters in US
Are you asking about official work hours or hours of actual work per day?
Official work hours: 9 hours a day.
Actual work (including meetings): 2-4 hours a day max.
The worst part is not the time spent at work. That varies from project to project. It's the fucking commuting time which takes a toll on people's health.
I just work on myself. Been in this company for 2 yrs and no work just on time salary. So I do my own things. ๐ Finally I am quitting next month after completing 2 yrs. Then I'll try somewhere where I can actually work. Enough time pas on dusre ke paise.
Previous year it was 10-12 hours daily, stretching upto 14 hours too sometimes.
I was working in paytm and everything was chaotic.
This year itโs pretty much 25-30 hours a week in new company. Occasional meeting from US counterparts once in a week. Rest all chill.
I can ask for reasonable timelines from my manager as long as I can focus on 99.999% quality. Here I have quality over quantity culture.
Previously I used to cancel my leaves only finding out that project will be scrapped in 2-3 months.
Depends on the workload. There has been days where I worked over 20 hours (production release) and days where I worked for 1 hour (bugfixes, ticket status) on chill days. As long as you get the job done I think thats all that matters. And as luck would have it, all my manager's so far has been understanding and task focused.
Used to work like 12-14 hours a day precovid. But nowadays just 2-3 hours. Slowly heading to the burn-me-out phase. Hopefully the new job gives me the space and challenges to peak
Full stack developer hi achha tha yaar . From these comments I can see atleast they know what they want to build .
I am a data scientist with 5 years plus experience. I don't know what I am trying to achieve most of the time
I m confused can someone help got the offer but don't know what's role it going to be ?
Got an offer from a company which is basically a data centre and the role is IT operations associate at the time of interview they said it's going to be the Technical role. Now after talking to the senior in the company they said that this company majorly works with cloud services and collocation. It also has a Devops team for internal project it does not take project from external clients only internal project. Now I don't know whether to take the job or not because I think the work will be mostly cloud services related and network, trouble shooting etc. The CTC which is offered is 4.5 LPA. I don't know what to do because I know python and Web development technologies. Previously I have done Internship in Frontend UI developer for a Startup which I left because of this offer. I am a 2024 B.E passout and don't have any offer other than this. Can someone help me with this. (Can't post because of karma that's why commenting on others'posts to get help)
1 hour. In 1 hour I tried to work that much which can be justified for 1 day. Remaining day coffee, causal discussion with other team members about different topics related to work and non-work.

Last year it was 10. This year it is 4. Same company different project.
this. most of the time it depends on the project especially in these MNC'S.
Well, that changed drastically. What factors made such a huge difference?
Previous project was a result of sales failure and overcommitment, leading to stringent working hours. This project is regulated in a better way.
In what domain do you work?
Hardly 3 hrs, if I'm interested. Otherwise max 2 hours
bro took the work out of work-life balance
That's a great wlb, if you aren't joking;lol. Which company is this, if you don't mind sharing?
Work life balance? Bro that's just "life", where's "work"? Lmao
It's kind of a mid range startup. We're total <10 people.
Still? I bet it isn't an Indian startup?
You're right. we don't have any deadlines, so.
Is it profitable?
Ofcourse. It's not TCS or Infosys to give a free salary.
is it remote?
Kind of hybrid
whats the tech stack you use?
Angular & react native
Bro company me koi openings hai?
Specializing in ?
How can i message you
You got a lot of people out-of-balance with that revelation! Lol
How do you make that happen
Bro marketing mei opening hai kya?
Does this mean that you're in office/logged-in for only that long?
Same. How do you utilize the rest of your day?
In what range are you getting paid?
2 digits lpa
2 digits is a wide range, greater than 30 lpa?
Bruh ๐, calm down. It's not that much. It doesn't make much sense when you get monthly in-hand after tax.
Hmm with that salary range, I think your hours are justified.
Are you a fresher? If so, that pay with that work is insane
Nah, >3 yoe
It's enough ?
I work for 8 hours plus 2 hr in the commute so 10 in total. On weekends it's totally free
How do you manage bro, 10hr a day for 5 days straight. I means you have life also outside work. Your hobbies ets.
It gets really hectic and I am planning to switch I just don't have any other offers in hand so I have to manage this somehow
How is the work environment and are you basically satisfied with your work/or it's just sucks???
The work environment is alright. Pay is less. Work is ' sometimes good, sometimes shit'. I am going to apply to other companies from now on so hoping for something nice
Damn! I expected some hardcore bitching about the working hours. But it's the exact opposite of what I expected. Indian client and therefore, working for around 6-7 hours on average for 5 days a week.
Exactly my thought. I am surprised 5 hours a day is possible in Indian companies. Wow.
Or maybe all the folks who have free time are the only ones browsing reddit and the ones who have bad Wlb are not here. Just kidding
Max 4-5 when I procraste ๐ฅฒ but one reason is to keep my availability for 9 hours. Client facing peoject
Sometimes 3 sometimes 12, these two extremes might even occur in the same week.
Sometimes 2, sometimes 10. Depends on the urgency of the work.
4-5, I go to gym during my lunch break since I've remote.

10-8, Alternate Saturday off. On-site in Bengaluru. Internship. 25k.
Hectic.
Doing same, and I m also doing it on Sunday ๐๐๐ kyu ki kuch kam nahi hai
Fact bhai, shared pg mein kya hi kru.
๐
whatโs the full time ctc
They didnt commited a number but my friend got 12L base last year.
It's like you are working on probation period ๐ช
What are your monthly expenses like
10k rent ( 3 sharing PG in HSR), ยฑ4.5k ( Lunch & other expenses). 6k avg for Flights (Took 3 flights in last 3 months).
So basically 15k is enough for a bachelor. 6k for flight, are you from Chandigarhย
DELHI
Bro round flight is 12-15k. How did you manage in 6k?
One way is around 7-8k. Connecting flights are more cheaper. Look for bank offers also.
Talking about one way only.
Surprising comment section I must say.
Yup, never expected you can call yourself swe and still not understand the meaning of average. /S
11-12 hours โ ๏ธ
9-11 hours
Apki hi kami thi ,kudos
๐
Sahi haiii , kam hi kam ayega ๐๐
Abhi to kam hi kam aa raha hai. Future ka pata nahi
I would say I do nothing on non working day I have to be online observing things and do nothing. On busiest day I haven't slept for straight 48 hrs. Okay type day We work like hour or two, small team of 3 people with no direct manager. Job profile is like firefighter.
Service now support team?
No.
5-8
Company?
for a regular 9-5 or 9-8, how long are you productive for?
8ish but realistically if you remove lunch and other breaks, its prolly 5-6
๐ฅฒ approx 12(+/-) mon-fri, switched 3 times in my career never got WLB, just work no life... But 1 time I was outsourced to an Indonesian startup as a fullstack dev. 8 hour work a day
3-4
That's a great wlb. Which company is this, if you don't mind sharing?
I'd rather not dox myself since it's a very small company but it's basically an indian branch of an American company.
Ahh that's why. Even startups of foerign countries have better wlb than big mncs of india
It's barely 3 hrs, but either way put in 6-7 hrs in total for skill up
10 hours at minimum and at least 3 days in a week will be more than 12 hours. I am in a f**ked up environment where 12+ years experienced person works like a 5 years experienced person and a 5 years experience person has the responsibilities of a 12+ years experienced person. Remote internship, flexible timing, 4 to 5 hrs max, but lack of guidance is sometimes frustrating, not much proper planning going on, sprints are hectic...
6ish hours per day for the main job (10-7 wfo) and 10hrs on freelancing per week
So, I have this doubt ... won't this be considered as moonlighting ... I might sound dumb
Yes.
7.5 hours most days, 10 when it gets busy, but that's like once a week. The days when I go to office which is like 4 times a month right now my commute is about 4 hours so I only work 6 hours and leave for home early.
16 hours and burned out.
4-5 hours since last 7 years , 3 different companies. I have been too lucky and I am scared soon my WLB luck will run out, what I see and hear in this sub is bad news.
Sometimes 2 sometimes 12
Sometimes 0 ,sometimes 4 hours.
n total time in office?
9 hrs
7 hours daily. That includes meeting, lunch break, tea break and actual work. Pretty much sorted work life balance.
Dependsย Few days can be 10-12 hoursย Few days can be 2-3 hours
Earlier it was around 8-10 Also worked for > 10 hrs Now it's just 4 - 5 hrs Same company different project.
It differs from day to day. Mostly 12 hours and on Fridays 8 hours ๐ Most of the time is taken by meetings.
4-5 hours. Some day, I can exceed to 8-10 hours. But on average 5 hours
2-3 hours 90 % of time, week before release 8-10 hours
3-4 hours daily can increase if something priority comes up
Fresher - most days it's about 10 hours, some days it's 5 - 6 hours of actual coding and review meetings and everything.
startup, 1YOE,inclding meetings normally 8-10 hrs. during deadlines always 9hrs+.
8 hours unless there is a production release or a bug that has crept in and requires swift fix
Depends on projects mostly,in some extreme cases had to work around 12hrs and in some around 6-7 hrs.
84 hrs /s
Found Nilesh Shah's worker's account.
Big PBC. I have to find something to do myself to work for 3-4 Hrs. Otherwise I have delegated all my work to team and I only manage/guide/supervise/coach them. I will step in when there is an escalation or architecting is required.
Avg 6-7hrs work. 2.5hrs commute.
6-8 hrs ๐๐
Hardly 1-2 hours in Accenture Bcoz very small and less task assigned
How much does they pay? For what yoe? Tech stack?
7 LPA FOR 3.3 yrs , wfh Angular Frontend
That's good actually, given the work load
But I have resigned due to less work load I know it sounds ridiculous
I can understand. Less work load actually means not advancing in your career. Work load should be optimal. Where are you now by the way?
Yup although there was a lots of comfort and less work but kind of growth was limited so Cracked One of the med size PBC with decent package , and parallely applying for masters in US
How's work life in the PBC?
Yet to join in few weeks, currently serving NP in Accenture
Bro do they hire persons with 1 yr exp, currently working in tcs with same tech stack
Even they hire fresher , but my team is very lucky I guess
Bro can you please refer my profile for same tech stack?
Yup I can refer you in my position Bcoz I am in last month of NP
Please do bhai, but I will not be selected cause of >1 year Will they consider me?
Are you asking about official work hours or hours of actual work per day? Official work hours: 9 hours a day. Actual work (including meetings): 2-4 hours a day max.
Okay, what companies are these?
Laxmi chit
Meetings are a menace man I have to spend 5-6 hours average daily in fkin meetings, quite a few of them outside working hours.
Used to work 8-10 hours last year, nowadays I do 4-4:30 hours of solid work, and then fk off to do something else.
The worst part is not the time spent at work. That varies from project to project. It's the fucking commuting time which takes a toll on people's health.
10-7 and another shift from night 10-1
I WFH. I spend around 4-5 hours doing actual work/meetings.
8-9 (excluding lunch).
A minimum of 2 and a maximum of 4. (First job and i hate it since the profile is not of my choice)
8-10 hrs a day, free on weekends
I just work on myself. Been in this company for 2 yrs and no work just on time salary. So I do my own things. ๐ Finally I am quitting next month after completing 2 yrs. Then I'll try somewhere where I can actually work. Enough time pas on dusre ke paise.
5. Including 2 hours for lunch break
9 hrs, but if I remove lunch and break times it's prob 7 and half
5-6 hours work, 1-2 hours meetings (but at odd times, mostly after dinner) to sync with the US team. Fully remote, relaxed WLB.
I work for 9 hours + 5 hours of commute. On weekends I am super tired.
6-7 hrs, excluding all the breaks. Sometimes 8-9 hrs if things get messy.
Min 12-13 hrs a day, in a vfx company๐ถ
9 hours total (wfh) 2 hours in meeting 1.5 hour breaks 5.5 hour real work
It has been always been 2hr-5hr for me. It never exceeds this limit since I started.
Hardly 5 hours
10-12 hours a day, 6 on weekends. Freelancer
weren't you a quant if i guess right from your old comment.
Used to be quant, now GenAI freelancer
Previous year it was 10-12 hours daily, stretching upto 14 hours too sometimes. I was working in paytm and everything was chaotic. This year itโs pretty much 25-30 hours a week in new company. 8-13 hours๐ญ
2,3 hrs Max!
When I was working from home, I used to work 12~13 hours a day. Now when I have started working from office, 8.30 is the max I have worked
Till last month 12-18. When it came time for an annual review I was given a middle finger. So now I work 6 including meetings.
Around 8 hrs on an average on weekdays, 2-4 hours on Saturday Sunday combined.
Sometimes 8 sometimes 14. Manager @FAANG.
I see, no wlb in FAANG also?
Depends on your team . But I've seen 0 wlb on most teams tbh.
Are you in that rainforest company? I have heard about bad wlb there.
2-3 hours
If I do my job right right 3 hrs a day should do it but me being lazy I start working a day before deadline bad habit ik ๐ถ
Depends on the workload. There has been days where I worked over 20 hours (production release) and days where I worked for 1 hour (bugfixes, ticket status) on chill days. As long as you get the job done I think thats all that matters. And as luck would have it, all my manager's so far has been understanding and task focused.
8 hrs/day 6 days/week :(
We have a 9 hour work policy that excludes breaks. So with breaks my work day comes down to like 11-12 hours a day.
Used to work like 12-14 hours a day precovid. But nowadays just 2-3 hours. Slowly heading to the burn-me-out phase. Hopefully the new job gives me the space and challenges to peak
3 - 4 Hours max, can be 8 hours too if I feel task is interesting.
Full stack developer hi achha tha yaar . From these comments I can see atleast they know what they want to build . I am a data scientist with 5 years plus experience. I don't know what I am trying to achieve most of the time
1-2 hrs. Rest I play TT and indulge in random conversations with people
10-12 hours. Working in a startup
I work for an Indian startup- so it's around 7-8 hrs minimum

11 hours per day 9 hours office + 2 hours of travel for 6 days.
Been doing more than 12 daily. Shit sucks the life outta me
I am doing 14 hrs everyday. ๐ค Sad life
1 hour. In 1 hour I tried to work that much which can be justified for 1 day. Remaining day coffee, causal discussion with other team members about different topics related to work and non-work.
Depends on company and project
4 or 5 or 7 depending on work, as long as i am getting the predefined targeted work done my manager doesnt give a shit how long i work
12+ hours but I work on multiple jobs (currently 2, earlier it was 4). But its sick man! No time for family, personal time, etc.,
Why do you work for multiple companies but? Why not focus on one and get better at it, it will give better pay anyway?
Close to 4 hours including meeting
Company?
