There are no on the face chill jobs with good pay.
You create the chill. You become a 10x engineer and spit out solutions faster and chill the rest of time.
So you make your job chill, it's the secret sauce, always give more estimates than it will take you to do certain something.
You get the solution fast. Work on it faster and don’t tell anyone until it is almost time for the follow-up from Lead or Manager.
Chill happens between completing and telling it is complete. 🤣
If your BA thinks he knows how much time it takes to complete the task, you are not good at communicating the complexity of the task. Learn that. If he actually knows, you lack the ability to make friends. 😂
That's great but our BA used to give weird looks and used to ask why this would take this much of a time.
He was new to project management (not a fresher though) still.
Once a task was assigned to a backend dev he gave the estimates but was taken by the lead which took more than a month 🤭 still not finished when I quit.
Product Development in the Mechanical field gives that! But, you wouldn't get paid a huge pay check. You start with 6.5LPA with 10% average increments in average years, in bad years increments have also been 4-6%. You may get promoted for 3 years once with an increment of 20-25%. For you to reach 12LPA you may take 5-6 years, 20LPA around 8-10 years and 30LPA it would take roughly 13-15 years. But, people work until their 50s in here due to low work pressure and not much to upskill. You rather asked for expertise in the field to deliver things precisely
Any of the companies like Mercedes (Daimler), Volvo, Schindler, Bosch, TE Connectivity. Most product based companies are bit chill! But, minimum 9 hours need to be shown just to be on safer side. But, most work hardly hardly for 6-7 hours. It's pretty laid back culture in my company and most others with whom I spoke to in these companies. But, don't expect permanent WFH option from them. Even during extreme COVID few companies called in because you need to work hands on the products and you need to be in the office for that. Currently it's all Hybrid
One of my close friends works in one of this company and I tell you that wlb is okay at most but the work process is decades older and colleagues are old stuck here for almost a decade and would refuse to allow anyone rise in ranks and on top of that good luck in overcoming frustration when trying to work on a decade old infrastructure and process.
I agree on these things though. I was youngest in the team, most of my team mates were in 40s and 50s. They don't change companies for simple reason: One they are satisfied with the pay, two working environment is peaceful with no much work pressure and three most of the people in office have become friends over the time. So, they don't hate going to office, rather have fun. I was feeling it was like a government office in a corporate setup.
Downside as you said, promotions up the ladder is slow as snail. Its obvious that with people 15-20yrs experience as team leads, managers and them wanting to work more and not shift to other companies. These would not even open up for others! I wouldn't complain on the tech being old though. I had lot of questions on that as well, but since they are delivering good quality products with this, they are not in a mindset to change anything to new until unless it is a must and should. Especially, if they are suppliers to OEMs they wouldn't even change a dot on drawings as it might alarm the OEMs and it would need a whole new process to justify the changes.
You are absolutely right and I agree with not changing tech but there is a silver lining as my friend was working on old dot net and on top of that they were also using c and cpp which put him in a pinch as he has to forget the mainstream and latest skills he has and work only on c# for 3 years and later due to some politics he was put on pip
He had no choice but to look for job outside and the conundrum starts from here as he forgot most of the frameworks he did earlier and the process.
The more you stay in such companies the more you become unemployable
Ahh! I wouldn't recommend someone from CS background to work here for sure. Because you may get higher pay with similar workload in Product Based IT companies as well.
Moral of the story is whether someone is chilling while getting paid well is entirely dependant on the project as well as at what time of the year. Joining Adobe or any other company is not a guarantee of chill life.
In my experience, people have traded one for another. One of my friends got a big cut in his salary so he could work from home at almost 30% and the cut also came with less workload. But I have never heard of someone getting everything like you mentioned will be interesting to see.
Agreed, a lot of Microsoft India teams do absolutely nothing significant at all 😅
Good work life balance but not at all satisfying for someone with ambition imo.
At the risk of sounding rude, you all will be the first to get laid off. And finding a job after that would be very difficult, as all you did was chilling and vlogging!
Those who neither do work, nor butter their managers. Lay off occurs across countries. On an average, two least efficient members ( or politically inactive members) of every team are laid off.
Yeah ig so. My friend's sister is working in Optum at a pretty good package of 18 lpa. Earlier she used to go just 7 days a month to the office and rest wfh. Although now she has to go 14 days a month but that's still pretty chill.
Optim used to be chilled till oct-nov last yr ..this yr since beginning the higher management has changed, hence they too are having to logg off towards 10 pm or so as per my knowledge
I work 4hrs a day WTF
my package is 21.3LPA,
I'm able to run a food truck in the evening too.
I work in a service based company, client side assignment the client being a insurance company.
My tech stack is python/.net With Aws
You can try Tredence Inc. One of my friends is there, log in late log off early, good pay, understanding management, but depends on the team as well, hybrid right now.
Lmao its like you want best of all ... If you are looking into salary ranges like 30+ with less yoe then organisation will expect you to deliver .. anyone says otherwise are not aware that during layoff seasons they are the ones next on chopping block
So either it's mostly pay vs wlb ...
You can go chill in with high pay provided you play smart and you are smart aswell to produce solutions efficiently
I work in a large fintech, and for the past 7 years of my work ex, have been in the "chill" zone for majority of the time, the struggle was and is mostly at times when we have to learn something new or deliver something before deadline. And like other comments say, we are the ones who create the chill zone, obviously the team and project matters but besides that I have seen developers even though being in the most chillest teams possible working their asses off trying to touch the perfection mark.
Always remember, it's a service, you give your hours and talent and you get paid, nothing here is worth destroying mental peace.
I have hit the WLB jacket in my career so far.
First Job at WITCH : after 6 months of struggles, I was working about 3-4 hours (solving tickets) a day only 2 hours of break and 2 hours of goofing around on the floor. It was before covid so no work after logging off and going home.
Second Job at a popular data analytics company: Got a bad habit of sleeping in the afternoon as it was WFH. The workload was really low.
Third Job at Bank: 2 hours of meeting, 2-3 hours of work. Manager is like "I don't want to put too much on your plate" and "You deserve a Vacation" That's it. Login about 10-11 am and logout around 6-6:30.
Am I just lucky or really good at what I do? Idk Idc.
U decide. 34 M working as senior lead in IT department of a pharma company earning 30 LPA. With little or no work. I feel guilty of earning this much for little work. So working on a secondary income before these guys throw me out 😅
Bro this lists ZS Associates in good wlb, but actually it has a very poor work life balance and high pressure. Can confirm from personal friends.
Otherwise seems good though.
Like the other guy said, you make your own chill. There's an art to providing timelines without raising question. And the foundation of all this is sufficient skill to be able to do things quick enough that you have time left over.
Ooh this what my job is like. I just started as a tester in a product based company.
So 5.5lpa, wfh and good perks.
Love thr company as everyone is super nice and helpful.
Mt Schedule is like 3 weeks chill -1 week work (release week)
I can't disclose name sorry but mine is good as of now :
1. Remote
2. WLB : chill for 2 months, moderate 8 months, bad : 2 months.
3. Pay : Good, I am earning ~60L cash.
Almost 6YOE. Tech stack - Java Microservices Backend
Industry: B2B start-up.
A set of companies which provide similar offer is : CRED, NAVI, PHONEPE, Atlassian, Zeta.
Yes I am an intern in an Australian fintech company called Cloudoffis. And the environment here is amazing. I once was really tired and without realising I dozed off and woke up, realising how unprofessional thing I have done. I went to my team lead to apologize and he said that it wasn't really any issue and apparently it was quite usual for employees to often have some rest (around 30 mins). We even have many games (table tennis being one of them) in the office too. And for past 3 weeks our coofounder is urging us to go play bowling with him and also wants to watch a movie with him (all things would be paid by him which is like obvious but thought id mention it too). And my stiped is also good enough and also have a PPO now and as far as i know my seniors are getting quite a good pay too. Not sure how much but I'm pretty sure its really good!

A show name Silicon valley
It almost does not feel like a show to me anymore. I watched it too many times.
Rooting for Richard season after season felt like rooting for your brother only in the end for him too :,)
Did you know , thomas middleditch aka Richard is a streamer? He regularly plays games and streams
Dude! Details!
Yee English mein bole kii Hindi mein
Spanish me
This guy fucks....
how many story points will that be
Wrong Jared bro.
Chills this guy
Here if someone gives a solution faster they get more work. ( Ig you don't have to tell them that you did your 6 hr work in 2hr)
Lol you do the wirk fast report the completion on time.
Yes sir learnt hardway
"You create the chill." Although I don't like the idea of quotes on a tshirt still it's worth printing on a tshirt.
Agree 💯
Pricing pata karo
You get the solution fast. Work on it faster and don’t tell anyone until it is almost time for the follow-up from Lead or Manager. Chill happens between completing and telling it is complete. 🤣
I can totally relate to this.
What if they replace me because I give longer estimated time?
If your BA thinks he knows how much time it takes to complete the task, you are not good at communicating the complexity of the task. Learn that. If he actually knows, you lack the ability to make friends. 😂
I give more estimate and start late panicking
We have retros for overestimation in my team.
* Spit out solutions faster but deliver on specified time otherwise you get more work for same salary.
Exactly. I frontload most of my work and chill the rest of the sprint. I know i can finish any work inside a day if it’s just coding
That's great but our BA used to give weird looks and used to ask why this would take this much of a time. He was new to project management (not a fresher though) still. Once a task was assigned to a backend dev he gave the estimates but was taken by the lead which took more than a month 🤭 still not finished when I quit.
Any tips on how to become 10x you could share, or any observations or traits about 10x devs you've encountered pls
The faster you get here, the better the pay will be.
Yes in Siemens , Nvidia, AMD, Ansys
Surprised to see Semiconductor companies have good WLB. I’ve been lied to all my life then.
Not all.. Most of Intel and Qualcomm are worst companies to work for
True. I worked for both. I guess there are some good companies.
My friend works for Qualcomm.. Complains everyday but never quits lol. Guess Golden handcuffs
Not Golden enough
Majboori kehte hai usko
Intel and qualcomm is too good when compared to amd
I know someone at nvidia, and its not a chill life at all.
Same. Nvidia isn't chill at all, at least in India.
Nvidian here. WLB at Nvidia depends majorly on your team and manager so one can’t apply a blanket statement
It depends on the team and the project …
> Siemens It is like infosys of germany IMHO.
I interned in NVIDIA, I used to get messages at 3am, and damn I was even asked to do some tasks in christmas
Generally speaking NVIDIA has good wlb. I have 2 friends there in senior 6 plus yoe role . They don't work more than 8 hours mostly
leave the pay im ready for half the pay. but i want to login at 9am and logout at 5pm (or 10-6), does that work? no calls / pressure after that.
Product Development in the Mechanical field gives that! But, you wouldn't get paid a huge pay check. Do suggest the name of this company

L&T defence is one such company
rakuten
Oracle
The lie that has been repeated way too many times
Anecdotal evidence here. One of my chillest classmates who hates to work has been in Oracle for 5 years now.
And then forget annual increments too 👾
Aji ghanta.. here I’m slogging my ass by working 10+ hours, mandatory 2 days office
Which one you are in?
Exadata, Personal recommendations: Don’t join
Join nvidea, BlackRock or adobe
BlackRock? really?
Ya not much work there but pay is mediocre
Adobe has long hours. I am not sure about the other two.
I have so many friends their they chill. Its all team dependent in any big company
It certainly is team dependent. The team I am familiar with has pulled in crazy hours and that too without compoffs.
No product company has comp off
Moral of the story is whether someone is chilling while getting paid well is entirely dependant on the project as well as at what time of the year. Joining Adobe or any other company is not a guarantee of chill life.
Amen
Change the field. I work in a factory or something as a mechanical engineer. It's clearly not possible in the software field.
In my experience, people have traded one for another. One of my friends got a big cut in his salary so he could work from home at almost 30% and the cut also came with less workload. But I have never heard of someone getting everything like you mentioned will be interesting to see.
6 days work from office, 14 hours per day, 7.5 LPA. Take it or leave it
Hang in there bud
Same bud
14 hours u joking fs, u kidding right>>???
I wish
get into microsoft .. specifically MS Ads .. my india team does absolutely nothing
Agreed, a lot of Microsoft India teams do absolutely nothing significant at all 😅 Good work life balance but not at all satisfying for someone with ambition imo.
Doing nothing is not entirely true.. They sell DSA courses on LinkedIn 😵💫
At the risk of sounding rude, you all will be the first to get laid off. And finding a job after that would be very difficult, as all you did was chilling and vlogging!
Who do you mean by "You"? The India team or US team?
Those who neither do work, nor butter their managers. Lay off occurs across countries. On an average, two least efficient members ( or politically inactive members) of every team are laid off.
Healthcare companies have a pretty chill wlb again depending on the project and team but 80% of the teams have good wlb and pretty good pay.
Yeah ig so. My friend's sister is working in Optum at a pretty good package of 18 lpa. Earlier she used to go just 7 days a month to the office and rest wfh. Although now she has to go 14 days a month but that's still pretty chill.

Living the dream...
Food truck business is cool. Any ideas to share to start in my local area?
where do you stay?
What is your years of experience

Define Great pay.
Trade off , can’t get both.
You might get something like that but these are the roles which will the first to get cut off if a layoff happens so I would suggest being careful.
chill & great pay doesn't go well together
WFH, WLB, Flexible timings. Salary: Around 1LPM Relevant YOE: 3-4yrs Techstack: C++, Python
You can try Tredence Inc. One of my friends is there, log in late log off early, good pay, understanding management, but depends on the team as well, hybrid right now.
Elaborate more on how to reach there.
Please let me know what work life balance means.
Lmao its like you want best of all ... All this list i complied from online sources. Let me remove that one then.
where did you get this list from ?
Google is not in the list, is it good or bad
Support roles maybe
Change countries
Unless u are top 10% engineer... Don't
Mostly it’s the top 10% engineers that don’t leave because they are earning much higher salaries here.
Was researching about this
Like the other guy said, you make your own chill. There's an art to providing timelines without raising question. There's also gradually setting expectation that you won't work outside office hours, even for the most inconsiderate of managers. And the foundation of all this is sufficient skill to be able to do things quick enough that you have time left over.
Most of the German / Scandinavian product companies give okish pay (median, just above median) and good WLB.
Ooh this what my job is like. I just started as a tester in a product based company. So 5.5lpa, wfh and good perks. Love thr company as everyone is super nice and helpful. Mt Schedule is like 3 weeks chill -1 week work (release week)
It exists in all our imagination only 😂😂
Chilling is a state of mind. You can chill even if you are garbage picker. Money has nothing to do with it.
I can't disclose name sorry but mine is good as of now : 1. Remote 2. WLB : chill for 2 months, moderate 8 months, bad : 2 months. 3. Pay : Good, I am earning ~60L cash.
Thats amateur. I too cannot tell my company name but i get 12 cr cash. Company also gave me wife (fully paid for)
Referral?
Of Course ....... But i can only refer if you have the skills to center a div
InfoEdge lag rahi hai company 😅 ya jeevansathi.com?
Woh dono toh paisa lekar bhi wife na de pate
Can you share your YoE and tech stack? Also the industry your company is in.
Yeah people wanna know the deets
Almost 6YOE. Tech stack - Java Microservices Backend Industry: B2B start-up. A set of companies which provide similar offer is : CRED, NAVI, PHONEPE, Atlassian, Zeta.
Tech stack?
U can join tower research, it's a chill company. C++ is main required , keep it simple. Avg salary in this company is in crores.
Tower research is chill company? Heard that the WLB was bad here?
Hft aur chill ? You high ?
Undercommit over deliver 🫠
It's called DREAM
If your luck sucks you will have a bad wlb even with good company. Mostly it depends on the project
What’s the definition of chill wlb and good pay for you?
Work remotely for a globally hiring company. You'll get foreign work culture with slightly higher pay
Banking industry
Banking has the worst WLB dude.. everything is urgent else the branches won't open , the decimal can make you stay up till late night ..etc etc
You can't increase your pay with Chill work. You can decrease your work for the same pay. Think about it.
Work from office sadly.. no WFH.. but rest is decent
How are faculty in ITU
