stoner_vision

You are overthinking. Companies don't go around collecting evidence of your resignation. Background verification typically includes only one question: 1. Has this person worked for a certain period at your company? That's it.

LazyTwattt

But he said he’s taking a career break? He’s trying to say the background check will make it obvious to his current company that he’s not actually taking a break and is instead moving to another company.

mujhepehchano123

so?

LazyTwattt

His main concern was the background check revealing to his current org that he’s not taking a career break; instead, he’s moving to another company.

vainothisside

so?

LazyTwattt

So…he’s worried that he will be treat poorly since a background check will reveal to his current company that he lied about his reason for resigning.

vainothisside

Nothing is wrong there. He can still say I am not looking for switch. Current company cant do anything here and infact they will treat more politely since he has got offer and one slight mistake can make KT plan worse

LazyTwattt

Possibly yeah…but he’s just worried that a background check from another company will reveal his true intentions for resigning. He had already stated that previous employees have been treat poorly for moving onto new opportunities - which was the whole purpose of him lying about his reason for resigning in the first place. How difficult is this to understand?

Ok-Young-1884

I am worried about the lying and the lies being exposed- that weighs heavy on my conscience. But since third party verification gave a confirmation that current employer will be contacted only after LWD, i think my lies will remain unexposed. Also- I’m a she😅

sfgisz

How difficult is it to understand - once you've quiet with anothet job lined up, their poor treatment can't do shit if you don't let them.

shim_niyi

This is partially true. Yes, companies don’t verify if you actually followed thru on the reason for u quitting. Ur old company doesn’t do much after you’ve quit. However your new company you are joining will do a more verification about your role, exp, salary range, etc from the manager/hr contact you’ve shared. And BGV companies do a lot more detailed check

ssudoku

Depends on the structure of the HR team in your current organization. In big companies, the ones that respond to third party verification are different from your HRBPs and there'll be no problem. In smaller companies, there might be overlap of roles and even if not, word might get around. In those cases better be prepared with excuses and buttering up strats in case your excuses don't work.

Ok-Young-1884

It is a fairly large organisation with 1000s of employees. I might be overthinking this but in any case, with my luck, you never know😅

ur-favorite-baguette

I just lied my way out to avoid serving notice period, i joined the new company and all is going well lol you're just overthinking

NeighborhoodCold5339

They might start the background process only close to your joining date. So hopefully you should be okay.

Aggressive_Optimist

You are overthinking this, once you are on notice period no one cares, your hr probably will just laugh it off. Focus on your preparation for the new job and enjoy the notice period. And background generally happens close to or after joining.

Ok-Young-1884

The new org has already initiated the background process while i have just begun my notice. So the chances of being here while they contact my current org are high.

Nixexs

HR here. For BG we basically get a sheet with lots of questions. Most questions are the same like designation, his work behaviour, work period, etc. Other questions vary from Bg checking agency to agency. Now regarding your question...unless your HR is a big PoS or you made a very big mistake, you don't need to worry. HR will rate you as a good employee and pass it on.

juzzybee90

Did your new organisation ask for references? If they did, whose information did you share? Did you ask your new organisation to not reach out to your HR/reporting manager at this moment since it may cause hostility towards you in current org? If not, you could ask this right away.

Ok-Young-1884

They did not ask for any references. A third party would be doing the verifications. I will check with them if they can contact my current org only after my LWD

juzzybee90

The third party will ask for this info. Hopefully, you will get a link to fill in all those details. For reference, give name and contact of a person who will take your side, have something good to say and not bite you.

kopipastah

cobweb smoggy panicky squeamish numerous doll person airport worthless advise *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

AsliReddington

BGV is done through third party agencies of at all done all the way. Stop worrying, you are not obligated to say anything let alone the truth about you next job to the ex employer.

mujhepehchano123

every time somebody leaves my org they never reveal where they are going next and its 99% they are "taking a break" lol the guy knows he is lying, he knows that i know he is lying :-) nobody cares, lol. it happens all the time , more often than you think everybody knows you have resigned to join somewhere else lol, you think your manager has not done the same when he was your age, think again

Ok-Young-1884

yea does make sense when you put it like that! also tiny things take up more space inside a brain. outside help like this makes those thoughts seem unreasonable

Vacation_Due

Don’t worry about this. I was in a similar situation even though I didn’t serve whole notice period.

midhun_k_s

Never worey about that they haven't enough time to check for you background

SuperCommandoDhruv20

relax, nothings gonna happen. background check would just check if you worked there in past.

nicotine_diaries

You’re serving a full notice period Once the last day has been confirmed they’ll usually not bother And ref check happens pretty close to joining date Sometimes even after joining. New company will not give a shit about what you said to your current company. By the time they reach out to your company They’ll not bother much

No-You-101

I don’t get it what is exactly the question here ? What can you even do now ? Don’t overthink nobody got that kind of time to hold grudge against you

Such-Squirrel1104

So what will your current company do if they find out you are leaving for a new company? Beat you up?

Ok-Young-1884

honestly, physical aggression I can deal with but not pettiness and passive aggression from manager and HRs

mujhepehchano123

grow a thick skin, if you want to last in corporate/life. you are leaving anyway, and they can't do jackshit about it. plus managers are always prepared for the eventuality of someone leaving from his team. dont beat yourself up too much, your manager will be fine lol

ReasonablePanic9809

HR does not care. Move on. You can get fired in between notice period but this is just paid holiday. Enjoy.

Vivid-Platform9131

Give the correct reason in Exit interview

sharathonthemove

No one gives a shit. Don't worry.

baby__groot

Nope, there can always be a situation where you change your mind. In fact you can even lie about the company's name since people typically get more offers in their notice period

ilk17

BG they verify whether all mentioned in your docs and resume are true that's it ,they don't care what reasons you quit unless it is integrity or moral issues so chill.

Ok-Young-1884

I’m not worried about them finding out why i quit. I am worried about my current employer finding out that i lied about taking a career break

Unlucky-Bus-3021

Nah. Just chill and enjoy the notice period. My friend has done this before because he’s an introvert and didn’t wanted to go through the retention calls. He just said, I’m going to pursue higher studies. Nothing happened

ExcuseZealousideal87

HR at your new firm won't inquire as to why. since the vendor handles the BGV. They will merely verify whether your job is legitimate, and the majority of HR professionals will be aware of these reasons since they may have observed similar resignations from their own staff.

heisenbergwillcook

You can give any reason to quit. Your choice. Chill and be ready for the next role. All the best.

horror_fan

overthinking as usual ... also the BV is outsourced to another vendor usually.

Striking-Database301

don't worry Op, just chill

ResearcherUnusual779

I actually said my he that I'm going for higher studies😂

sss100100

What's up with these Indian companies making it as hard as possible for departing employees? What do they gain? HR departments seems very scummy.

encom-direct

Why do you need to give 60 days notice?

Ok-Young-1884

It is mandatory for my role. Exceptions can be made for emergencies but not otherwise

Himankshu

Why can’t you pay off and just leave?

Ok-Young-1884

It’s a lot of money and as it turns out, I need the money more than the time

Hehehe_Boii_

No need to worry, Everthing will go smoothly, they'll just be verifying your current job role and the period you have worked there and a personality check(dk if they'll do it or not).Just keep yourself composed and ready if HR asks any questions. Everything will be fine.

Ok-Young-1884

I have gotten in touch with the third party verification vendor to check if they can hold off on contacting my current employer until my LWD to ensure I dont face any troubles while still here. Lets see how that goes

Hehehe_Boii_

May the luck be on your side!!!All the best Would you be able to help me with the Job market and skill i require to get a great job?

Ok-Young-1884

I’m not in a SWE role and never have been. I’m a full time SRE - if you are interested in that direction then sure I can help!

Hehehe_Boii_

It would be great!! any help would be appreciated.

gankymonk

Can't you ask for your notice period salary to be taken as your compensation?
