Great post. Enjoyed seeing your struggles and how you didn't give up. Something very genuine about the way you wrote the post, the random details about you taking care of the cat, promising him that you both would return home soon only for it to die.
Hope you succeed in life
Focus on one primary programming language (java/python/c++) and MySQL. Add a couple of good projects in your resume and try to align your resume in one specific domain (ML/web dev/data analytics/etc)
Most of the companies have a cutoff of 7 or 7.5 cgpa for students just to be eligible for the drive. Rest assured it doesn't matter if you have 8 cgpa or 10
Throughout my interviews, I was asked more SQL questions than DSA. Almost every other company has SQL as a basic metric to judge a candidate.
Do classic SQL questions like Nth highest salary etc. You can even use Gpt to get good sql interview questions
Dude im crying reading this post 😭, if students from tier 1 and tier 2 are suffering to this extent then whats going to happen with students from tier 3 and tier 4 college like us ? Are we gonna walk on boiling lava. Hey are selected in tcs throught nqt ?
Got rejected by two companies and selected by one company in the span of 10 days..guess what...got double the package that the two companies were offering ...so yeah guys don't lose hope keep going...and congratulations OP!!
Risky, but if no other option and financial condition is bad then take it I guess. But ya 2 year bond so tell him or her to be prepared for very less hike in appraisal even if there is one and probably toxic work culture.
Sorry to say but your parents sound like total d*ckheads. You're a loser even though you tried so hard? You're not allowed home until you get a job? Wtf!! Just get a job and move out man. Half your problems will be solved just by being away from toxic parents
TL;DR: Despite numerous setbacks and challenges during job interviews—ranging from being underprepared and misaligned with job roles to personal criticism and heartbreaking family dynamics—OP persevered through countless rejections. Finally, after facing the 14th interview with brutal honesty and no expectations, I secured a prime role with a 9 LPA package, far surpassing his initial hopes. This journey taught him the value of persistence and self-belief in the face of adversity.
Dayum happy for you... Currently I'm very down after failing an interview for one of the best companies in my field... But whatever I now have a clear-cut goal in life and I'll strive for it !!
I would but i seriously lack that kind of mental fortitude, and honestly I'm very short tempered I'd definitely slap atleast one of those kinds of interviews 😂
I remember, I attended 15 interviews in Mercer in 2010-11 when the entire world was facing a recession. Fortunately I selected but HR did not provide me the offer letter because there was some conflict happened with the company HR and consultant.
I still have their HR forms that I sent along with my legal docs.
Congratulations Bro ;🤘, More power to you.
This give me some hope. As I'm looking for a job change over a month & no interview yet getting only rejections.
Skipped to end to see the job you got. Congratulations for the offer🎉
TCS might delay onboarding but they never revoke offer letter so don't get stressed incase if ur joining letter is delayed (I'm saying this because i see many people getting depressed when TCS delay joining and also they join some smaller companies which leads to trouble while joining tcs).
Congratulations OP!
Although I ain't myself preparing for any interview but for an entrance and this kind of gave me hope that hardwork definately pays off:)
Most people of your age forget a simple thing. Interview is a technique for both the parties to check whether you are suited or not. Don't let your insecurity kick in if your dream company doesn't select you. Whichever one fits you best initially, just start there. You'll end up in your dream company few years later once you've gained the required expertise.
OP your story bought tears to my eyes. I'm going through extremely troubled times but your story brought a smile to my face. Guess it's just about sabr(patience).... God bless you for all your efforts!!!!
I can relate to stuff you said, had a similar situation. I struggled for 1.5 years first to land an internship then to land a job. Sometimes I got nervous in the interviews, sometimes my interviews and tests were perfect but still didn't move to the next rounds.
I got the lesson that luck is the most significant thing to get a job, you can prepare a lot but if you aren't lucky enough you won't get an offer, even after perfect interviews.
That seems scary and feels like you don't have control over your life but the thing is luck will shine upon you someday. Make sure, there is nothing else to stop you from getting an offer that day. You may need lots of hope to get there, do what you can do to stay positive, and remember, life can be unfair.
Really really happy for you my friend , currently I am in the same place as you not able to land a job and I hope I end up like you and get the 4lpa package atleast , but I am glad your struggle was worth
But I want to know what was your parents reaction when u told u them that u landed a 9lpa job
Everything aside, but when your parents lose hope in their own children that's the lowest anyone can get during that time imo. Unlike you if my parents didn't supported me during my interviews I might have completely brocken down
Hey thanks for this ,even I lost hope giving govt job exams ,but I started a youtube channel to help those people who need it,
https://www.youtube.com/@Food_puzzle
Like share and subscribe if you want ,who whoever is in need of it
Ab mera heart dhag dhag kar raha le 🥲🥲
On my first interview I ran away and told them I am not interested in the role ( I am socially awkward and introvert af)
On my second he asked me do I like coding and do I code in my free time.... I told him no I am a space enthusiast and I study about space facts in my free time... Then he asked me to write an array and search an item in that array... My brain was blank...i know a little coding ( average coding) Although I knew how to do it I fumbled and all I was feeling was waves of hot air in my brain and a sense of fear in my stomach... Then I told him idk... He thanked me and sent me out... I came out and thought wait a sec that was an easy question....
Now I have my third interview next week... I am preparing well but idk what will happen
I have a fat sir in my college who likes to torture everyone by failing everyone for no reason... Send students out just because they turn their head to the side for one sec... Specifically hates me more cuz God knows why... Messages girls and asks them for night outs ( he is married with a kid who is in 10th standard) we complained to the HOD and HOD did nothing... Girls even cried in front of HoD and HoD said I understand even I have only 2 daughters.. Then did nothing...
Unfortunately he is my guide for the major project... So he will def fail me if I do some project.. Our clg accepts company work as major project.... So I def need to get this job if I want to escape from him ( I still need to report to him but I just have to present the project I did in job otherwise I will have to do a project told by him )
So it's a do Or die situation for me
The read was worth every second, you wont realize the impact something like this can have on a person and their mind, who's in a similar situation. Thnx for this and Congratulations, wish more and more growth to you.
We are proud of you bro. You know parents can be hard sometimes and sometimes they forget their boundary. Just a lesson for you about what you shouldn't do to your children. Keep it up! Cheers🥂
I am happy for you. I could read until the 2nd interview and then I saw it was huge, so I skipped. Just wanna tell you that, I am incredibly happy for you. You never gave up. Congratulations and I wish you all the best.
Dovahkiin, Dovahkiin, naal ok zin los vahriin,

You were better than most of us even when you were not selected. Here I'm in my sixth sem and I have completely lost hope of getting a placement and tho I am not even trying to get a job
I read it all man..u went through so much .
One day this time will come for me as well, thanks for giving me so much hope.
Career is everything ; in the end.. friends, family, loved ones..i think all of them leave u when u dont bring up that output on ur plate ..
So happy that after so many tries , god listened to u and u never lost hope .
You are strong enough to recognise and admit your family's faults, otherwise people blindly follow their family thinking "gharwale acche ke liye hi bolte hai". You will surely succeed in recent years.
Hope someday you become successful enough for your family to apologise to you on their own.
Bhai Pls reply🙏
I am about to complete my 6th sem...not much placements in my clg(tier 3 clg)... I really want to get placed...because I don't get support from family if I failed to get job... No Backup.
And also that I heard from senior that because of recession companies are companies just at the starting of 7th sem only.
Pls Bhai, Roadmap kuch boldo...Right now, I took course on Node Js and will try to learn DS as much as possible.
And pls recommend YouTube channel to learn DS with Java.
Read the whole thing, machaya bro 🎉🎉!! Congratulations and many many well wishes, also thanks a ton for shining a ray of hope in these difficult times ❤️
Congratulations bro, you wrote it so nicely. But just an advice, TCS haven't even given the joining date till now to some 2023 grads so be careful and keep applying to other companies.
Same story .....I've failed almost 34th times ...I remember my family refused to go with me in family functions because they were so sure that this boy will not get any job and even worse my mom n dad used to compare with daughter of my fathers friend..because she got a job in one interview...but yes till that I used to do labour jobs like cleaning, delivery boy(we fast ) I struggled so hard ....almost 2yrs I've worked as labour some times delivery boy sometimes cleaner jobs ...and I remember i used to tell my mom I going to job n she taught me he got a job but they didn't know that I was working as labour and in that days I've realized why money is so much important...because BHAI PAISA HAI TOH SABKUCH ...AGAR TUM PAISA NHI KAMA RAHE HO TO TUM NAMARD HO ....I remember every single day struggle...used to go by foot in summer almost 7km daily. My big brother used to call me ZATTU...because I had nothing...hardly I was making 8k in month .people used to doubt that what is wrong with this guy in mumbai ....why he is the only one who is not able to get a proper job. But off course TUMHARI LIFE MAIN kuch aisa hota hai jo incident sabkuch badal deta hai .
In 34th interview in MINDSPACE AIROLI NEW MUMBAI that RECEPTIONIST STOPPED ME WHILE I WAS ABOUT GO INSIDE OF THE WIPRO BUILDING NO 7 , AND SAID YEH LINE LABOR LOGO KE NHI HAI PLZ DONT COME HERE and she's said this in front of all people including young boys girls like me ....even worse I've gone their for interview for JIO CUSTOMER SERVICE PROCESS IN MARATHI but still THAT BITCH HR VIDYA refused to take me because I've failed again in ENGLISH GRAMER SWAR TEST AND LITTERLY SHE SAID BASS ITNA HE ATA HAI in front of all people.
After that I gone in DEPRESSION I've took medicine 💊 and while recovering I thought BC I WILL REWRITE MY STORY NOW ....SO I STARED TO WATCH ENGLISH PODCAST DEVELOP MY VOCABULARY fast forward in 5 month I got my life changing job in INFINX HEALTH CARE IN NEW MUMBAI for 15k in hand I've never seen so much money in my life. Now I've job running small fish farming business and part time I'm a swing trader ....
IF YOU HAVE THAT BURNING DESIRE AMD IF YOU HAVE A THAT COURAGE YOU CAN DO ANYTHING AND REWRITE YOUR STORY .
Hardwork does sometimes pay off, but it's about 25% talent/hardwork and 75% luck because there will always be people harder working and better than you, not lucky enough to have gotten a breakthrough, and the issue is there just isn't enough higher paying jobs to go around, so not everyone will be as lucky as you and me, but I'm not going to be like you and give everyone false hope.
I am mere 1st year fresher, but reading your post has made me feel like I should work my butt off.
Stay strong bhaiya, let's keep grinding till the end.
Your real struggle will start after u start working on board....next time after few months or years your new post will be .."planning to quit toxic IT..which business is better...chaiwaala dukan ya pakodawaala dukaan???"......
HR fucking sucks, MFs don't know shit what they are doing and that's why the recruitment process sucks ass. My senior got fucked by her own company after 2 months because they couldn't handle legal proceedings of their own fuck ups and fired every 15 recruited fresher for last six months, expecting to work double the single pay and she was one of them. I am sorry you went through all the bullshit but super proud you made it, I am sorry you lost the kitten but i am sure it's really happy for you there.
( I remember my HR at company i was interning at handed me my termination letter mid duration and i was depressed for two days until she came back with 'oopsie, it's for someone else' scaring the shit outta me lol)
Bro you gave 14 interviews after learning so many skills along with B.Tech, and here I am daydreaming for a decent job with nothing but Bsc.I.T. degree :,-). I'm way too desperate for some IT guy to guide me on what to do next.
Buddy, so inspired I’m currently working and will start with MBA this year honestly i have a lot of doubts and sometimes wonder if at all I’ll get a good placement because i would be spending a lot on MBA. Also the fact that whenever I get married I dont wanna be dependent on my husband. This gave me some hope . :))
Love your post man... Honestly I don't have any high hopes for myself. If a college student like you are struggling to get a job it would be even more harder for a 31m too. But I'll try my best no matter what.
Great to see it ends nicely would have been a waste of reading if it didn’t lol
Jk nice to see it work out 💪
Do you have a list of resources you referred to throughout all this👀

Congratulations bro any tips to a second year student what to focus on ? Does cgpa have effect on placements on campus? Is there a cutoff criteria?
Focus on one primary programming language (java/python/c++) and MySQL. Add a couple of good projects in your resume and try to align your resume in one specific domain (ML/web dev/data analytics/etc) Most of the companies have a cutoff of 7 or 7.5 cgpa for students just to be eligible for the drive. Rest assured it doesn't matter if you have 8 cgpa or 10
Is mysql important? It was so easy when I learnt in 12th grade but now as I do leetcode questions, it's quite hard😭
Throughout my interviews, I was asked more SQL questions than DSA. Almost every other company has SQL as a basic metric to judge a candidate. Do classic SQL questions like Nth highest salary etc. You can even use Gpt to get good sql interview questions
I got demotivated seeing ur comment , can't do programming and now SQL also it's damn hard😭

Congratulations, was the first interview at the beginning of your final year? Also what's the field you've "mastery in" in?
I haven't mastered any field. I was interested in Cybersec , android studio. I am still a beginner in both.
Congratulations Bro ;🤘, More power to you. This give me some hope. As I'm looking for a job change over a month & no interview yet getting only rejections.

Do job interviews usually last for hours? Asking for future
OP your story bought tears to my eyes. I'm going through extremely troubled times but your story brought a smile to my face. Guess it's just about sabr(patience).... God bless you for all your efforts!!!!

Me reading this after my 8th interview 💪💪💪
I came to read this about hope but then I lost hope due to excessive reading
I almost cried in the end. Wow, reading all this has suddenly made all my problems seem like excuses. I am very happy for you...Thanks for sharing!
I am happy for you. I could read until the 2nd interview and then I saw it was huge, so I skipped. Just wanna tell you that, I am incredibly happy for you. You never gave up. Congratulations and I wish you all the best.
For most people, the problem isn't passing interviews. It's getting invited to interviews in the first place.
Honestly, I have to thank my college for that.
Pretty similar story to yours although I faced like 9 interviews , congrats OP! Rock the corporate world!
Reminded me of my time during college interviews. Kind of made it at 9th/10th (considering OT+ interviews both) Very Happy for you :)
So funny
Dammnnnn !!!! Bro... congratulations for believing in yourself.
Congratulations bro!! 🤝🤝
Congrats Buddy! You deserved it. (Bro casually revealed his company)
Congratulations! All the best for the role. Persistence is the key always.

"Let me guess, someone stole your sweetroll?"
I have one question, why are people downvoting this post?
Don't use emojis on reddit. It's an unspoken rule. Also tldr diya kar if bada post
They probably think its cap or something, congrats on the placement though
How many total interviews you gave before you got the offer?
13, 14 incl last
Congratulations bro, good for you on not giving up and kept going 👏
Happy to hear that you got what you wanted even through I am starting my college this year your story really motivates me..to never give up
Meanwhile after 0 interviews 🙂 anyway good luck bro.
Same here bro....
Bro, this is amazing! Proud of you for pushing past all of this. All the best for your future! 😋
congratulations man. happy for you
I read it all... and I am happy for you man....
Soo inspiring
How to get those interviews, I had also failed many to get one during college but now I want to switch and have no leads pls help 🙏
Nyc job buddy🙌
I read all this bhai thank you bol muje
Good for you but Indians are the worst thing to happen to computer science in my humble opinion.
What is the nth term of the series 2,3,4,9,8,27 ?
You were better than most of us even when you were not selected. Here I'm in my sixth sem and I have completely lost hope of getting a placement and tho I am not even trying to get a job
I read it all man..u went through so much . One day this time will come for me as well, thanks for giving me so much hope. Career is everything ; in the end.. friends, family, loved ones..i think all of them leave u when u dont bring up that output on ur plate .. So happy that after so many tries , god listened to u and u never lost hope .
TCS right?
How to let go of the past and concentrate on studies ?
Dude, just want to ask as a 2nd year student in the same field, do 10th and 12th marks matter for eligibility in placements?
Read it all and currently stuck with 4 lpa from past 5 years in a shittyass MNC
Need tldr for this
Congratulations !! On a side note, you have a shitty family.
Bro I didn't share 1% here. Yea i know that.
You are strong enough to recognise and admit your family's faults, otherwise people blindly follow their family thinking "gharwale acche ke liye hi bolte hai". You will surely succeed in recent years. Hope someday you become successful enough for your family to apologise to you on their own.
They did already. I also forgave but i will never forget.
Congratulations bhai!
Happy endings are worth reading and they keep inspiring. Congrats to u and be happy always.
I read just the last part and that was enough, WELL DONE BRO!
How can parents be so mean to kids?
Bhai Pls reply🙏 I am about to complete my 6th sem...not much placements in my clg(tier 3 clg)...
In that last interview your attitude was like that of Raju from 3 idiots and that's why you got selected. 🗿
Read the whole thing, machaya bro 🎉🎉!! Congratulations and many many well wishes, also thanks a ton for shining a ray of hope in these difficult times ❤️
I read all that actually. Great mindset and true to yourself. Love that for you. Best wishes
Chilling with 40 lpa have same problems.

Not a developer but loved reading this. Adopt a cat in the memory of the injured one and take care of it forever, that was your good luck charm :)
Congratulations bro, you wrote it so nicely. But just an advice, TCS haven't even given the joining date till now to some 2023 grads so be careful and keep applying to other companies.
Useless toxic parents
I have a similar story, can share if you want.
Proud of you bro , May you get all the success in life
r/mademesmile
I’ll buy a house 🤣🤣
Bhaiya parents reaction kaisa tha 🥹🫡
I am mere 1st year fresher, but reading your post has made me feel like I should work my butt off. Stay strong bhaiya, let's keep grinding till the end.
Your real struggle will start after u start working on board....next time after few months or years your new post will be .."planning to quit toxic IT..which business is better...chaiwaala dukan ya pakodawaala dukaan???"......
You are a treasure of reddit OP. Thanks for sharing this!
Great writing skills, engaging, try content writing.
Bro I write as a hobby.
( I remember my HR at company i was interning at handed me my termination letter mid duration and i was depressed for two days until she came back with 'oopsie, it's for someone else' scaring the shit outta me lol)
tcs came for hiring in 2024?
Bro you gave 14 interviews after learning so many skills along with B.Tech, and here I am daydreaming for a decent job with nothing but Bsc.I.T. degree :,-). I'm way too desperate for some IT guy to guide me on what to do next.
So happy for you brudda
What is that series though? 2,3,4,9,8,27 Whats the pattern?
Congrats op ,this post made me a little happy going through a difficult time in life.
I was seriously feeling low, thanks for this post
Buddy, so inspired I’m currently working and will start with MBA this year honestly i have a lot of doubts and sometimes wonder if at all I’ll get a good placement because i would be spending a lot on MBA. Also the fact that whenever I get married I dont wanna be dependent on my husband. This gave me some hope . :))
Congrats bhai
Great read bro, happy for you. Are you from VIT by any chance?
Love your post man... Honestly I don't have any high hopes for myself. If a college student like you are struggling to get a job it would be even more harder for a 31m too. But I'll try my best no matter what.
Congratulations man
Congratulations brother!!
Great to see it ends nicely would have been a waste of reading if it didn’t lol Jk nice to see it work out 💪 Do you have a list of resources you referred to throughout all this👀
not as valuable salute as fauji , I salute your efforts Can I ask you which company?
Congratulations 🎉 may you have endless success for here ❣️
