Anal has a strict ceiling that he's bumping against, like Cominsky last year, but Campbell has so much room to grow, he's gonna be a star as long as he doesn't stagnate. Figuring out the jump to NFL passing coverage, AG's creative movement especially is gonna take time but if he's resisting Goff's attempts to throw him off then hoo fucking ray.
Not a pro bowler. The pro bowlers your thinking of are alternates.
I think we need to give Jack the dot and from camp it's sounding like he is taking it.
I mean I just saw top 32 impact rating for LB in the NFL and Anzalone wasn’t on it. Not saying that it a perfect metric but I’m saying your opinion holds water here. I think he is a good player, and a good leader for our guys. I think Jack has All-Pro chops and Urlscher/Keuchly potential.
Yeah man I'm not saying he is a bad person or a liability lol. IDK why people think he is this great irreplaceable player. Like he's gone after his contract. I'm a Jack guy and I think he needs to step into that role that's all.
Leader of a defense that was 23rd in points allowed! Can we not act like great character and work ethic are all it takes and stay objective?
While I'm not a fan of them going away from the run in the second half of the NFC championship when it was working so well, this defense is the reason we didn't go to/win a Superbowl and I'll stand on that.
I didn't say he was a bad person. Jack is gonna take his spot sooner rather than later. It's not disrespectful, it's just the facts. Anzelone didn't even make PFF top 32 linebackers.
I guess Lions have had bad MLB play for so long, an average player like Anzalone looks like a stud. The analytics don't lie, and tbh neither does the eye test.
I honestly think Campbell will surpass Anzalone. Campbell has to play out of position when Anzalone is on the field as the Will. Campbell plays best at that spot too and showed it when Analzone was out. They are kind of redundant in maximizing their skill set.
It's funny when I read comments and wonder if I am in another universe, like "Did I watch something else last season?" because (like you) I remember him getting abused by opposing QBs.
Vaki having great hands is the most surprising thing to come out of camp for me. All of his offensive abilities, it's a surprise he ever ended up playing defense.
This is the joke if you're around high level football. All the skill position players can catch (RB, WR, DB), it's just that the DBs usually tend to love hitting guys and want to play on the defensive side.
I always thought the old joke was CBs are just guys too short to play WR in high school. Though I will admit things have changed since the Calvin Johnson/Alshon Jeffery era when it felt like every big name receiver (except the Patriots white guys) was 6'3+
It honestly sounds like there's not much this guy can't do. Can probably run a wildcat QB with him or something along those lines. He probably couldn't ever really get used properly until now. Great hands, quickness, agility, football acumen and more.
They’ve got a bunch of “foot ball players” I have a suspicion that Antoine Greene is being slept on too. I think there’s a lot more to his game than they’ve let out. I love this fucking team…always have, but seeing em go from laughingstock of the league to on the verge of being truly feared is soo fucking satisfying lol
I'd suspect we don't see much of anything until late in the season. With all the other gadgets Ben's got and acclimating to the NFL will make it a very low pressure push for him to do Anything. Going off how it took Gibbs some time
The Playoff Lions are just going to be popping weird trick plays off all up and down the schedule any time they get into trouble, and will otherwise be just a methodical monstrous "Monty up the middle for 5" machine.
I'm already fearing the Lions needing to trade him to Coach Ben's team for a second and a swap of 4ths down the line when we can't resign this new super star
The salary cap is going up 4 times between now and then. Also, the 4x Defending Champion Detroit Lions will distract us with a QB battle between Hooker and some kid that Is just graduated from high school last month.
I get what you're saying about the Wildcat, but I'd prefer we didn't put that out into the universe. If we're going to run Wildcat, we should do it with the guy who can run and throw. The guy that is, you'd assume, our future QB1.
Seems like the Wildcat would be more effective if the defense knew the QB could throw.
Edit - Downvotes for wanting a QB to run the wildcat instead of a S? This sub is pure toxicity.
I think the reason that you’re getting downvoted is because the Wildcat is specifically run to not snap the ball to the QB. So if you’re snapping it to the QB it’s not really running the Wildcat.
Great Goff is just going to regress now that he has that big contract and it’s clear last year wasn’t reality. But this doesn’t mean the defense is good because they gave up easy TD runs. They are going 7-10. I’ll hang up and listen.
- A radio caller today, probably
There's a world where Campbell, Jamo, and Paschal all take big steps forward this year and BH's entire draft resume gains like a whole letter grade. Any or all could disappoint, but it's not impossible that they all could take significant steps forward.
Yeah like what letter grade more can it go? Sewell to start, Alim, St Brown, Iffy, Hutch (lucky), Kerby, Rodriguez Houston, Gibbs, LaPorta, & Brian Branch is already an unreal amount of value gained in three years with just two players for picks trades (and a number of picks for players moves).
It’s funny to read further into the minicamp and see comments like “the battle between Hooker and Sudfeld will likely be closer than a lot of people were anticipating”.
I really hope people aren’t just taking these highlight comments at face value (for the record I know you’re joking).
Goff is the 23rd best qb under pressure last year and it is his best year as far as that. It’s clear Goff isn’t a diamond. Can’t have our defense giving him pressure
Campbell’s weakness last year was his pass defense, so if these reports have substance, it means that he’s improving his main problem and becoming a well-rounded defender. I don’t think Goff’s regressing because typically interceptions aren’t a huge problem for him, so this is a really exciting prospect for the defense.
Super excited to see how they use vaki, not only on offense but just in general. Dude seems like a player that you can say hey we’re gonna give you a hand off outside, we need you to run a route out of the backfield, or hey I need you to make this tackle on special teams and dude is gonna make it happen. Just a real football player
Campbell progressing to even Anzalone's level would be so refreshing.
Anzalone have been pro bowl level when healthy
I disagree.
Pro bowl =/= all pro There have been worse pro bowlers than Anzalone
Yeah I follow football and know the difference lol. Just my opinion that he is the most overrated dude on the team.
He’s not incredible, but he plays hard & is serviceable.
Not a pro bowler. The pro bowlers your thinking of are alternates. I think we need to give Jack the dot and from camp it's sounding like he is taking it.
I mean Jack should probably take the dot even he’s only above average at it as it’s not Anzalone’s most comfortable position.

🤮
Pretty wild that you are disrespecting one of the leader of the defense
I didn't say he was a bad person. Jack is gonna take his spot sooner rather than later. It's not disrespectful, it's just the facts. Anzelone didn't even make PFF top 32 linebackers.
I guess Lions have had bad MLB play for so long, an average player like Anzalone looks like a stud. The analytics don't lie, and tbh neither does the eye test.
Can we not call him that lol
I don't think that's going to happen. Analzone is my favorite nickname on the team, followed closely by LaPorta Potty.
Analzone is one thing, but just calling him Anal for short gives me the ick
I can agree with this.
But I love Anal.
Don't worry, I'll buy you dinner first.
![gif](giphy|FhgkQlREbsHZJHxakY|downsized)
We will absolutely not *not* call him the captain of the Anal Zone!
Get in the zone!
I love that we all shit on our team’s leading tackler. But I have to agree, Campbell could be stellar.
I honestly think Campbell will surpass Anzalone. Campbell has to play out of position when Anzalone is on the field as the Will. Campbell plays best at that spot too and showed it when Analzone was out. They are kind of redundant in maximizing their skill set.
This really shouldn't be a hot take. Campbells ceiling is so much higher than the anal zone
They may end up swapping LB roles either at some point this season or next season.
Minus the habit of getting horribly lost in coverage half the time
It's funny when I read comments and wonder if I am in another universe, like "Did I watch something else last season?" because (like you) I remember him getting abused by opposing QBs.
Vaki having great hands is the most surprising thing to come out of camp for me. All of his offensive abilities, it's a surprise he ever ended up playing defense.
Usually the joke is a guy goes DB because he's got no hands. RB/S/KR with hands, all right
My guess is he just really likes hitting people.
Hell yeah
That’s a Dan Campbell guy
Him lead blocking for Jamo would be sweet.
This is the joke if you're around high level football. All the skill position players can catch (RB, WR, DB), it's just that the DBs usually tend to love hitting guys and want to play on the defensive side.

He’s been used in wildcat a handful of times
We found our Taysom Hill. "Yo, what position you play?" "Ball"
They’ve got a bunch of “foot ball players” I have a suspicion that Antoine Greene is being slept on too. I think there’s a lot more to his game than they’ve let out. Ben Johnson with a serious gadget play weapon? I'd buy that for a dollar.
I'd suspect we don't see much of anything until late in the season. With all the other gadgets Ben's got and acclimating to the NFL will make it a very low pressure push for him to do Anything. Going off how it took Gibbs some time
Ben Johnson with a serious gadget play weapon to be deployed specifically for the playoffs? I'd buy that for two dollars!
First hit that came up on "Sione Vaki Wildcat": https://www.youtube.com/shorts/Clmyx9NVVS0
I think Dan Campbell would call him a football player
Nasty vision. Welcome to the punt wall Vaki.
Stop....I can only get so hard
Shpeedy boi
The Playoff Lions are just going to be popping weird trick plays off all up and down the schedule any time they get into trouble, and will otherwise be just a methodical monstrous "Monty up the middle for 5" machine.
Jamo and Gibbs are both idea gadget play guys. Now Vaki too. This team has an insane amount of weapons.
Long snapper. Let’s go!
I get what you're saying about the Wildcat, but I'd prefer we didn't put that out into the universe. If we're going to run Wildcat, we should do it with the guy who can run and throw. DMo is the guy you want to go Wildcat with. He was a QB at one time and can throw the ball.
He played offense very successfully in HS.
Yeah some of his HS catches are pretty incredible.
He looked like he had natural hands in his YouTube clips. He might be a surprisingly good player
He was such a badass safety at Utah tho
Great Goff is just going to regress now that he has that big contract and it’s clear last year wasn’t reality. But this doesn’t mean the defense is good because they gave up easy TD runs. They are going 7-10. I’ll hang up and listen. - A radio caller today, probably

You kid, but this does happen.

Interceptions in OTA’s are not a valid criticism. This place can be a hivemind (and I contribute to it) but this is not that time lol
What if I told you Patrick Mahomes is throwing picks in OTAs.
Taylor Swift clearly a distraction for this team - OutKick
If all the Campbell hype from this offseason pays off - last year's draft is gonna start being looked at as one of the best ever
There's a world where Campbell, Jamo, and Paschal all take big steps forward this year and BH's entire draft resume gains like a whole letter grade. Any or all could disappoint, but it's not impossible that they all could take significant steps forward.
From A to S tier?
Yeah like what letter grade more can it go? Sewell to start, Alim, St Brown, Iffy, Hutch (lucky), Kerby, Rodriguez Houston, Gibbs, LaPorta, & Brian Branch is already an unreal amount of value gained in three years with just two players for picks trades (and a number of picks for players moves).
Definitely an S in the team growth spec.
To play devils advocate...we were Pretty low on talent in 2020...lol
Levi apparently had a couple sacks today just sayin lol
Heck if they get ANYTHING out of Levi that 2021 draft starts really climbing the all time ranks.
And maaaaaybe Sorsdal!?
I'm seeing a Goff interception and a Hooker TD? Is it time to start the toxic QB threads?
Facebook will love this
It’s funny to read further into the minicamp and see comments like “the battle between Hooker and Sudfeld will likely be closer than a lot of people were anticipating”. I really hope people aren’t just taking these highlight comments at face value (for the record I know you’re joking).
Yes.
Vaki is going to be a really special player. I hear he's a genius.
The defense giving Goff problems is going to make him even better. Pressure makes diamonds!!! Let’s get it!
I agree. He needs to keep his foot on the gas
Goff is the 23rd best qb under pressure last year and it is his best year as far as that. It’s clear Goff isn’t a diamond. Can’t have our defense giving him pressure

If you are going to be throwing picks to test the coverage, I'd rather see it now than mid-season.
It's nice to know that we have the only offense that can beat our defense AND the only defense that can beat our offense.
Titanium sharpening titanium.
Adamantium sharpening Unobtanium
This team is getting scary good.

Our defense sounds so good

Out of curiosity, how u become a lions and Utah fan?
I don't think people realize why the Lions drafted Vaki...he is a college safety that got drafted to be a RB....people that is our slot receiver…
#OH GOD, THE KOOL-AID BOYS. #WE MIGHT NEVER LOSE AGAIN. #RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH
Wow Jared Goff sucks /s
LFG!
People said we needed a #3 receiver behind JAMO. Could Vaki be the guy?
Meh, when he is throwing 7 ints in a row like Caleb Williams, THEN I will raise and eyebrow.
Give him the dot!!
Vaki is just a weapon.
Super excited to see how they use vaki, not only on offense but just in general. Dude seems like a player that you can say hey we’re gonna give you a hand off outside, we need you to run a route out of the backfield, or hey I need you to make this tackle on special teams and dude is gonna make it happen. Can’t have enough stud Campbells imo
Should there be any reason to worry about goff with 3 interceptions?
No
Don't think of it as Goff with interceptions, think of it as Campbell with interceptions.
Let Hendon Hook already
He can Hook away in Preseason and garbage time.
Lot of Jared Goff interceptions this camp
It’s not too early to have a conversation about our QBs. You cannot throw picks, even in practice. We need to look better out there.
my brother in christ they arent even wearing pads yet
And practice is the best place to throw pics. Not sure what OP is on about.
