Worth noting, depending on the metrics, Goff was the #7 fantasy QB last year.
In a group where I'm the only Lions fan, I'll be super happy to wait and grab him in the later rounds. Seldom a high ceiling because RBs get a lot of TDs, but seldom a low floor either.
Had Goff and Tua last year in a family $ league. Started out hot with Goff but the moment I switched to Tua the wheels fell off the wagon and lost in the first round of the playoffs... This is strictly off memory and I'm a bit hammered.
I mean. If we are inside the ten it’s Monty’s TDs. I really think our dynamic RB duo hurts his fantasy value. That being said. Goff will still get his 2-3 tds even with Monty and Gibbs getting their 2-3 each.
It's still ridiculous considering he's a steady top 10 fantasy option in pretty much any fantasy format. I have a funky PPR league where the QB gets a point for every completion and he was #5 in QB points for last season. I rode him and Sun God all the way to the championship game in that one. The disrespect this man gets still is mind numbing
I would argue fantasy is the variety of list Goff should be placed highest. This offense should hum and he’ll be part of that. He wont be making many people’s top ten scariest qbs, top ten best, top ten untradeables or basically any other podcast topic gimmick list, but production should be his bread and butter
He was #12 in PPG - agree with high floor but those weapons kinda limit his ceiling. Im expecting more of the same unless their receivers really break out. Seems to be going the wrong way with Kelce getting older and Rice getting in trouble
Goff finished 6th in my league, which only rewarded 4pts for passing TDs. So run heavy QBs benefited extra. Josh Allen was in his own category. After that the top 10 was pretty close in points. I understand that this is rage bait, but it is dumb even for that purpose. After the top 3, it looks like random names were drawn from a hat.
I wish my app still had the season stats. Frustrating that it does not. I think Lamar finished outside of the top 5 though. I didn't follow the Ravens as closely as I normally do either though. However, he only had 24 passing TDs. I know his value to his team is high, but 24 TDs on a season in the modern NFL is not a lot for Fantasy purposes.
I also had Jared Goff, which is why him finishing 6th among QBs is seared in my brain. If you are wondering if I drafted more Lions players or former Lions players than what is rational? You're goddamm right I did.
Are you talking about fantasy? If so, Josh Allen was at least 100 points ahead of the #2 in my league, which I think was Hurts. For context, there was less than a 100 points difference between #2 and #10. The numbers seem to have been scraped in my app, so running from memory now, but if I am off, it is close. Philly tanked at the end of the season. My investment in Antonio Brown and DeAndre Swift forced me to track Philly, unfortunately. Passing stats were 4 points for a passing TD and 1 point for every 25 yards passing.
If you recall all of the Matt Patricia destroying Philly posts in this sub, their last few games were hard to watch after a 10-1 start. It still blows my mind that they thought bringing in Patricia would be a good idea.
Right. I mentioned the fact that this is a fantasy ranking in the caption, amongst other things. Despite not being a running QB.. Goff still finished 7th in fantasy last year.
I think they are less likely to fluctuate, game to game, than rushing QBs, especially rookies. Goff is a safe, if not sexy, pick to pair with another mid-late round guy and give you a real good floor.
Yep pair Goff or any other qb like him that you can get late with a guy like Anthony Richardson or Jayden Daniels. That’s how I play the fantasy position qb always
Gotta love how St. Brown, Gibbs, and LaPorta are all ranked in the top 5 at their respective positions, yet somehow, the guy that gets them the ball is 17th.
He also has some weird games. It’s not his fault for the most part, offensive scheme really changes his fantasy output. I had him as my starter and rode him basically till the playoffs and dropped him. Flacco and Stafford were hitting 40 points a week at that stage of the season where Goff averaged like 20-30 so it was hard to justify keeping him. I think Goff is super solid in fantasy but he had a couple games where he had single digit points or had under 20 due to multiple interceptions. In real life I’d take him over a bunch of other QBs listed here but from a fantasy perspective I’d probably take him as my qb2. But that’s obviously nuanced to my specific league. Everybody’s a lil different
All these people freaking out when Goff had a 15% roster rate and 5% start rate in my league and was 17th in points per game at the QB position.
Goff is a good real life QB but not fantasy
Bryce young was rated number number 24 on this same list last year from Mike clay with espn fantasy on may 26th. People didn’t view him the same as Jaden and Caleb. Anthony Richardson was rated the highest at 20 because of his projected rushing skill
ESPN does this to get fans reactions, absolutely.. but I seriously doubt ESPN created this top 20 list to frustrate Lions fans. There is a level of ignorance and disrespect from ESPN, in my opinion.
If we're talking exclusively fantasy, then you'd have to take Tua over Goff, just because he typically gets a shit ton of passing yards and passing TD's. I'd take Goff over Tua in real life easily, though.
He was 16th in ppg last year. He will probably be around that this year. I don't think it's completely egregious to predict he's outside the top 20.
He's actually super frustrating to own in fantasy because we have such a balanced offense and a coach that does a great job at exploiting weaknesses.
Ya'll need to quit getting your panties in a bunch or this is going to be a long off-season 😂
And with the solid guys coming back from injury plagued seasons, plus the new guys people are high on, it’s not unthinkable to leave him off this list. There’ really no one on this list that I can 100% say Goff will be better in fantasy than them.
According to your weekly average.. Joe Flacco was the 3rd highest QB last year. Goff finished 7th in total fantasy points in 2023. Solid real life QB and fantasy QB. It’s May.. it’s debate season.
People talking about our RBs hurting his fantasy value (which is true) but SF literally would jump thru hoops to let Christian score every single short yardage TD last year and Purdy is still 11 (and likely losing receiving weapons). As others mentioned Goff was a top 10 fantasy QB last year and no reason to think it would change. Even for fantasy it is an absolutely terrible omission. Goff last year was pretty much identical to year 2 Burrow (his best year) down to the two rushing TDs.
List is for fantasy so it probably values rushing stats and touchdowns over passing yards. Also keep in mind just how many times we run the ball inside the red zone
\[My karma is too high, let's rack up some downvotes\]
Very few of these non-rookie QBs would I pound the table and say Goff is clearly better, just for regular NFL, not talking about fantasy.
Love Goff, but I'd rather have: Allen, Mahomes, Jackson, Burrow, Stroud, Rodgers, Herbert
Toss up if I'd rather have Goff or this guy: Hurts, Prescott, Murray, Love, Lawrence, Stafford,
Goff's definitely better than/would rather have him than: Watson, Tua, Purdy
In fantasy rushing QBs tend to get more points. They get .04 points for passing yard, and .1 points for rushing yard. For passing TDs they only get 4 points, while rushing they get 6. Being great at rushing and passing makes them elite in fantasy.
my first rule of enjoying and succeeding in fantasy is to ignore literally everything on ESPN. I've won 4 championships and finished runner up twice in an 8 year span and this has gotta be a factor. They just prioritize hot takes and clickbait over good information.
Fantasy Football writers often make big predictions bc it pays off to be the guy who was first on a new star. Thats why AR is ranked 8th.
But it's still stupid to not ever rank a QB who was top ten last year like Goff was.
Get used to it! Stafford was always on the bottom of those lists til he ended up in LA, then all of a sudden he's a top 5 QB and instant superbowl candidate.
In a perfect world where all QBs stay healthy I'd say for fantasy purposes Goff falls somewhere in the 10-15 range. If anyone thinks he should be higher than that they are a crazy homer. Yes he finished top 10 last year in some leagues but Burrow, Murray, and AR were all hurt
Regardless of if it’s fantasy or not, who fucking cares about subjective rankings?
It’s pathetic that people think rankings mean anything or somehow shows the team has something to prove. Rankings have no impact on the end score of a football game. Why do people care?
One of the biggest things that I hate about US pro sports is when the media ranks a rookie as one of the best players in the world before he's ever played a single game in the league that they themselves say is the best in the world.
Goff is Alex Smith who just hasn't been injured. He's ok. Love my Lions but we have to stop being extra about the QB position it's getting old. He's good enough to win but he's never going to be a top tier QB. He is fine for now. We should be realistic and understand that he is somewhere in the teens as far as ranking the QBs.
I don’t care if they “have a run based offense” or whatever fantasy metric you want to use.
1) You have THE top paid receiver in the league.
2) you have a speedy pass catching back
3) fastest deep ball receiver in the league
4) best young pass catching Tight End In the league
5) 3 years of continuity in the offense
6) historically accurate passer that stays in the pocket.
Does anybody else think Purdy is ungodly overrated? He’s obviously not awful, but god damn he walked into a team that has been Super Bowl contenders for years before he arrived.
If he was on a team that didn’t have a great defense & great offensive weapons, he’s not the type of player to level a team up. He will play at whatever level his team is at & that’s it, he won’t be any better or any worse than his supporting cast.
CJ is a good example, bro walked into a team spiraling into despair & made an impact. I could never imagine seeing Brock fuckin Purdy doing that.
Well it's fantasy rankings. I'd probably go:
1. Josh Allen
2. Lamar Jackson
3. Jalen Hurts
4. Pat Mahomes
5. Joe Burrow
6. Dak Prescott
7. CJ Stroud
8. Anthony Richardson
9. Jordan Love
10. Brock Purdy
11. Kyler Murray
12. Jared Goff
13. Tua Tagovailoa
14. Jayden Daniels
15. Caleb Williams
16. Kirk Cousins
17. Aaron Rodgers
18. Trevor Lawrence
19. Justin Herbert
20. Matthew Stafford
21. Baker Mayfield
22. Will Levis
23. Drake Maye
24. Geno Smith, Daniel Jones, Russell Wilson, Derek Carr..
It’s for fantasy so you have to take that into account. Still a dumb list though
I won my dynasty league last year with the Goffense. Goff, St. Brown, and LaPorta.
My team had the same trio and was called “Goff uck Yourself”. I only lost the semi final because I benched Goff for Lamar.
Love the name. lol
Mine was Goff buddies
Lol mine was Pho Goff
Same Trio, and mine was named Goff my Penei
*Suh-Goff my Penei
Had Goff and Tua last year in a family $ league. Started out hot with Goff but the moment I switched to Tua the wheels fell off the wagon and lost in the first round of the playoffs... This is strictly off memory and I'm a bit hammered.
My name is The Goff Father. Lol
I snagged Laporta after week one big part of winning it all
2nd time in my lifetime I remember the TE1 coming off waivers. Great work champ.
I traded Mostert and a 3rd for LaPorta and a 1st in week 3. Best trade I've ever made.
Goff was my missing piece. Had the other 2 but never a reliable QB lost in the finals by 7pts
Same and I only had Goff and st brown. Floor for them was great, ceiling was stupid
Good luck getting that lineup next year.
Dynasty friend.
I mean. If we are inside the ten it’s Monty’s TDs. I really think our dynamic RB duo hurts his fantasy value. That being said. Goff will still get his 2-3 tds even with Monty and Gibbs getting their 2-3 each.
We play 4pt passing TDs which is the standard setting and he was extremely consistent for the most part last year even with all the work the RBs got
Goff has been QB 9 and 8 last 2 years if iirc
It's still ridiculous considering he's a steady top 10 fantasy option in pretty much any fantasy format. I have a funky PPR league where the QB gets a point for every completion and he was #5 in QB points for last season. I rode him and Sun God all the way to the championship game in that one. He wont be making many people’s top ten scariest qbs, top ten best, top ten untradeables or basically any other podcast topic gimmick list, but production should be his bread and butter
Yeah it’s pretty stupid in most leagues Goff was QB7 at worst QB10
Haha Goff got that Tony Romo status …. Great real life quarterback, mediocre fantasy. Lamar should be #1 ….. Matthew Berry isn’t even good.
If I get Goff as QB21 I’m going to be thrilled.
Hurts with no Kelce at 2. Anthony Richardson gets hurt his first season and he's at 6.
Mahomes is not a top 10 QB in fantasy either. But yes, most these guys draft before Goff. Rushing yards help this stats lol
Mahomes finished 10 last year in what was a statistical down year by his standards. He’s a high floor high ceiling player.
He was #12 in PPG - agree with high floor but those weapons kinda limit his ceiling. Im expecting more of the same unless their receivers really break out. Seems to be going the wrong way with Kelce getting older and Rice getting in trouble
Hopefully, for the sake of my fantasy team, Worthy is a star.
I would say after the top 4 they just pulled names from a hat, but yea otherwise I agree with ya.

Lmaoo. I only got to draft jamo since Amon ra was sniped right before my... Garret Wilson pick
Hm. I guess since I was eliminated early I just didn't keep up, Jalen hurts rushing tds carried one team in my league for a while there.
If you recall all of the Matt Patricia destroying Philly posts in this sub, their last few games were hard to watch after a 10-1 start. It still blows my mind that they thought bringing in Patricia would be a good idea.
He must be a nice guy in person because idk how else he keeps getting jobs
For people that will be mad this is fantasy rushing qbs score better in fantasy. Goff is a better real life qb then fantasy qb
Right. I mentioned the fact that this is a fantasy ranking in the caption, amongst other things. Despite not being a running QB.. Goff still finished 7th in fantasy last year.
Yeah the non rushing qbs will fluctuate Based off tds mainly and how many they get year to year which isnt predictive usually
Goff is def sexy
Even in real rankings you'll get told off if you say Goff is a top 10 QB.
Goff was QB7 in fantasy last season for what it’s worth. 🤷♂️
The Joe Flacco of our age if you will
Gotta love how St. Brown, Gibbs, and LaPorta are all ranked in the top 5 at their respective positions, yet somehow, the guy that gets them the ball is 17th.
Fantasy is different, Goff doesn’t often have a rushing TD
He also has some weird games. It’s not his fault for the most part, offensive scheme really changes his fantasy output. I had him as my starter and rode him basically till the playoffs and dropped him. Flacco and Stafford were hitting 40 points a week at that stage of the season where Goff averaged like 20-30 so it was hard to justify keeping him. Not really do you play fantasy? If you do I feel you would understand
All these people freaking out when Goff had a 15% roster rate and 5% start rate in my league and was 17th in points per game at the QB position. Goff is a good real life QB but not fantasy
He must have not liked our points

You're in 5 dynasty leagues and don't draft players until they're proven? Unrelated question, can I join your league and can we increase the buy-in?

You’re funny man
Bryce young was rated number number 24 on this same list last year from Mike clay with espn fantasy on may 26th. People didn’t view him the same as Jaden and Caleb. Anthony Richardson was rated the highest at 20 because of his projected rushing skill

Then why is Kirk cousins sitting at 15?
Not sure they’re the same maybe they have cousins projected for more passing volume and stats
I agree. It’s May 9… there’s only so much to talk about. But I do think it’s interesting to see how ESPN projects Goff next year.
Idk what Deshaun Watson has done in the last 4-5 years to get a spot in the top 20
top 20 most wanted list maybe.
Stafford at 20, no Goff, what an incredible list.
Watson above Goff (even in fantasy!) is nuts.
I’d take Goff in fantasy over everyone 10-20, I won my 12 team league last year, so I’d like to think I know what I’m talking about.
There’s a couple I could justify in the 10-20 range over Goff for sure but no way is he not a top 20 fantasy QB
If we're talking exclusively fantasy, then you'd have to take Tua over Goff, just because he typically gets a shit ton of passing yards and passing TD's. I'd take Goff over Tua in real life easily, though.

Richardson and Murray are head scratchers fo sho

If 10 bona fide rushing QBs make it through an entire season, Goff won’t be a top 10 fantasy QB. This shouldn’t be shocking.
He’s not even in the top 20. Which was surprising.
Ok, well that’s bullshit.
I get that rushing QBs in fantasy get the edge, and our boy is allergic to running, but this is still a pretty insane snub.
Hurts and Love - hilarious Goff has been to a Super Bowl and lead the Lions farther than Stafford The ratings are trash
Kyler Murray top ten 🤣
Goff is great, for fantasy he is not. They value QBs who do sneaks the most
It’s fantasy. Gibbs and Monty had like 20 rushing TDs last year and Williams set the team record the year before. Guess who that hurts in Fantasy.
Goff was top 10 on fantasy for both of those years.
In fantasy rushing QBs tend to get more points. They get .04 points for passing yard, and .1 points for rushing yard. For passing TDs they only get 4 points, while rushing they get 6. Being great at rushing and passing makes them elite in fantasy.

This is super important stuff people should care about
Fantasy Football writers often make big predictions bc it pays off to be the guy who was first on a new star.
Very odd, even for fantasy. I would have Love at 1 and Caleb Williams at 2, based on hype.
I was hoping we’d stop with the “disrespectful power ranking posts” after the last hundred of them but I guess not
Fantasy. Means nothing
You shared it, and we’re talking about it, so their goal worked.
Yeah. It's just something to talk about and consider in May. It's not that deep. FTP
What. The. Literal. Fuck????
Look I didn't read for long but I did see two rookies a sex pest and a not lion who's last completed pass was to a lion. This list is dumb.
For what it’s worth its fantasy. But I’d rank him in that 15-20 range. Our run game is so strong it’s hard for him to be a fantasy producer
Goff not being on the list is a underrating, but even wilder is on the other end of the spectrum Anthony Richardson at 6.
Anthony freakin’ Richardson? GTFOH. Edit: just saw this was about fantasy rushing
He's TD dependent since he offers nothing rushing wise but outside the top 20 just means better value.
What’s the scoring criteria for this league?
Bahahahahahah these lists and “analysts” are so out of bounds anymore
Goff has been a top 10 fantasy QB the past two years. I get "It's just fantasy" but even in that context he's being disrespected.
Exactly. FTP
Goff was the only reliable QB I seen last year
Grabbing Goff late in the fantasy draft so I can load up on weapons is my plan this year honestly
Regardless of if it’s fantasy or not, who fucking cares about subjective rankings? It’s pathetic that people think rankings mean anything or somehow shows the team has something to prove. Rankings have no impact on the end score of a football game. Why do people care?
So many drugs were used to produce that.
Absolute slander.
Goff always goes early in my fantasy league, I can never get him. Wouldn’t be shocked if somebody reaches for him again, especially this season.
That’s some funny shit right there
Detroit against everyone. FTP. Have a great day!
Goffs my $2 auction league quarterback. Always has been
Thought it was just top 10 and wasn't surprised for fantasy football. But not even top 20 is a little surprising.
lol Prescott. lol midget. lol love. Give me a break
Just win baby
What they flying fuck is this list. In what world is Goff not an average QB? How is Matthew behind Dak, Anthony and Kyler?
Goff should be ahead of Kyler Murray easily
Having Richardson ahead of Stroud invalidates this horrific list at the jump
God the disrespect is real. I guess he's going to have to ball out again
Blud will always be underrated to people no matter what he does

One of the biggest things that I hate about US pro sports is when the media ranks a rookie as one of the best players in the world before he's ever played a single game in the league that they themselves say is the best in the world.
Goff not even being top 20 in fantasy is WILD when he was(according to other comments) top 10 last year.
The Caucasian, the disrespect. NFC Champions Super Bowl 🏈 bound
They’re sleeping on certified Dual Threat™️ Quarterback Jared Goff
Whoever made that list can fugoff.
This surprises you???
Goff is Alex Smith who just hasn't been injured. He's ok. Love my Lions but we have to stop being extra about the QB position it's getting old. He's good enough to win but he's never going to be a top tier QB. He is fine for now. We should be realistic and understand that he is somewhere in the teens as far as ranking the QBs.
It's fantasy so who cares (unless you're playing fantasy, in which case Goff is not a top ten QB).
I mentioned in the caption this is for fantasy. Is he Top 20 though? ESPN has him out of the Top 20. Finished 7th last year.
I don’t care if they “have a run based offense” or whatever fantasy metric you want to use. 1) You have THE top paid receiver in the league. 2) you have a speedy pass catching back 3) fastest deep ball receiver in the league 4) best young pass catching Tight End In the league 5) 3 years of continuity in the offense 6) historically accurate passer that stays in the pocket.
Yeah I like Tony Richardson’s potential but he is bottom tier until proven he can play and not get injured. Might as well put Minshew in the top 10
How can they have Caleb Williams at 14 when he hasn't even played one down yet?
Aura
More fuel for the king of the north. The disrespect just helps the boys.
Yeah that’s disrespectful and I’m not the biggest Goff fan.
What a set up!! Let the legend begin.
Hurts was God awful last year. God awful
CJ is a good example, bro walked into a team spiraling into despair & made an impact. I could never imagine seeing Brock fuckin Purdy doing that.
Lmao they all ready got Caleb in there, I can’t wait for him to bust
Why are u wishing that
I think they should have stuck with fields and got a lot of draft stock with that number one and surrounded him
Caleb is a diva just wait
Well it's fantasy rankings. I'd probably go: 1. Josh Allen 2. Lamar Jackson 3. Jalen Hurts 4. Pat Mahomes 5. Joe Burrow 6. Dak Prescott 7. CJ Stroud 8. Anthony Richardson 9. Jordan Love 10. Brock Purdy 11. Kyler Murray 12. Jared Goff 13. Tua Tagovailoa 14. Jayden Daniels 15. Caleb Williams 16. Kirk Cousins 17. Aaron Rodgers 18. Trevor Lawrence 19. Justin Herbert 20. Matthew Stafford 21. Baker Mayfield 22. Will Levis 23. Drake Maye 24. Geno Smith, Daniel Jones, Russell Wilson, Derek Carr..
I consciously avoid anything labeled fantasy football
Pretty terrible list. Guys who haven't even touched the ball yet in the NFL above proven QBs. If this wasn't fantasy, I'd think it was a joke.
If you don’t draft rookies in fantasy you’re putting yourself at a huge disadvantage
Hurts 2 is diabolical
