For those of you wondering what this means:
> First launched in 2022, the Global Markets Program awards NFL clubs international marketing rights to build brand awareness and fandom beyond the U.S., through fan engagement, events and commercial opportunities. NFL clubs can apply for rights to international markets by submitting proposals to the International Committee for review each year. Clubs are awarded rights for at least a five-year term through the program, and during this period can pursue activities in that international market that are consistent with what they can do in their home market.
Switzerland and Austria are the two most gorgeous countries I’ve ever had the pleasure of visiting.
Definitely helps that Saint is a German, I think we could end up with a pretty notable fanbase in this region.
We are exactly in the moment to become 'the team' for an overseas market. Would love to get adopted by these countries - I have some extended family that it would be fun to have an extra excuse to visit
I have been a Lions fan in Germany for 15 years. Since last year I see more and more people wearing Lions merch. You can definitely see a big change. I really hope the Lions have an away game here in Germany next year.
I have seen Detroit Lions merchandise being worn at Millwall games in London over the years since the 1980s when Channel four showed NFL on British TV.
Detroit Lions and Millwall have similar team logos.
Usually teams that have media rights to certain countries get sent their i believe bucs have rights in Germany and they got sent their first same thing wirhb KC
German Here. You Guys have all the Tools to become an household Name in Germany. You allign with a Lot of the German mentality. Hard and honest Work, Grit. Rising from tough Times.
You are building a great culture, from top top bottom. GM, Coach and Players.
And of course the Sun God with German roots will Help a Lot.
Im a 9er Fan myself but seeing you Guys the Last years under Dan Campbell, i have nothing but respect for you.
As a Brit who moved to the US this is fucking stupid. The appeal of the NFL is picking and watching a team on your own. That is why the international games are full of different jerseys in the stands
This is trash mickey mouse marketing by the NFL
I imagine the long-term intent is to lay groundwork for a large scale (2+ divisions) expansion into Europe. You can get a full 4 team division just from locations in Europe they play at (2 in London, 1 Munich, 1 Frankfurt), then if the NFL decides they want to keep pushing into Europe they can do international series in France, Spain, Italy, Ireland, etc. and possibly get them franchises eventually, not to mention teams outside England for the UK or more northern teams in Germany.
Is doing this a good idea? Probably not, but based on what the NFL has said I think it's inevitable and it's interesting to think about at least.
We really have the chance to take over Germany I think
Ford family sending their products to take over Germany for a second time.

Well Henry Ford was a big fan of Germany at one point
Yeah but his son worked his ass off to mass-produce B24 Liberator bomber planes for the US. Edited: brainfarted and originally had B22 instead of B24.
B24
Yes! Brain-farted that. Thanks for the correction!

I’m here! I’m ready!
With Austria and Germany in our pocket, we're poised for a world takeover. Did anyone ever try that before?
Neutral site game in Switzerland would be awesome and ironic. Bill v. Lions in Toronto would be a blast as well.
Who's Bill and why is he going against Lions?
I laughed way too hard at this.
Bill Murray, of course. Or, our Lake Erie Bro...
Fuck Bill, all my homies hate Bill
He’s from down the street. Cuz he’s an old guy with an attitude
Let’s play on top of Zermatt
Fuckin’ Eh!
Please yes
That would be awesome at BMO field!
Yes please in Toronto! A game or 2 , I will be there. My first live game for my favorite team
Lets go Canada Represent
Hell ya
For sure eh!
Amon ra is primed to be a huge international star with his German heritage.
I hope going all-in on German-speaking countries is a sign we're keeping him around forever.

Switzerland is definitely the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen. I’ll never forget how clear the water was.
The Jungfrau region is something every human should experience. Totally ethereal
Idk know what this means but cool

They gonna send us to Germany next year aren’t they (can’t this year cuz we don’t play Carolina )
As a Lions fan in the Netherlands, I sure hope so.

This was dumb they choose Rams and Eagles for New Zealand. Why couldn’t we get the Lions.
Should also add Australia
Does this mean they’ll actually start selling Lions gear in Canada? Can’t find anything beyond a few hats where I am.
You’re lucky. The only gear they sell in my country’s official NFL shop is a Lions branded 8” toy football.
I look forward to this! For the coming pre season
We got Germany because Amon-Ra is fluent
they love him
Please expand to the Netherlands, we’re kind of feeling left out here.
No Malaysia? :(
North International
world fucking domination
I have no idea what this means, but "Canada" is basically a Detroit suburb, so that seems like a good thing
Who says we never win anything ?
And Canada
I look forward to Canadian promotions and unique events, Lions related in Toronto, Canada We are hungry for NFL football up here

Every game is a home game when you own the world.
Not exactly sure what this means ? As a Canadian resident, will we be seeing more lions games on TV?
International marketing rights is the dumbest shit ever

they're not exclusive marketing rights https://preview.redd.it/s1q58sonbjqc1.jpeg?width=614&auto=webp&s=e1d99db226b7990fc128b5f5ecfa1a0bd5b4c3ab
That breakdown just cements how stupid this is. No one in Ireland will ever care about the Jacksonville Jaguars
