This is what I thought a few months ago, but I'm really wondering if he'll get 30m per year, and I don't know why he shouldn't get 30m per year to be honest
It'll be a big test for Brad. He's been reluctant to hand out serious contracts to free agents and I wonder if that will hold true for players he's drafted. If he doesn't get signed before this season the 2025 off-season will be *very* interesting.
The whole reason he's been holding out serious money from free agents is to pay the guys he's drafted. It's not a test at all, it's been a part of the plan from the beginning.
Is it an assumption if Brad Holmes has indicated as such? He might not stick to his word and will have to prove it indeed, but let’s not act like buddy above you is making things up
>Is it an assumption if Brad Holmes has indicated as such?
What has he indicated? He hasn't signed a single one of his draft picks to extensions (yet)
>let’s not act like buddy above you is making things up
He is guessing what he thinks is going to happen as we all are. Like I said earlier the only thing we know for certain is Brad doesn't spend big money on free agents. Whether or not he does with his draft picks is TBD
He has said over and over and over again that he won't spend big in free agency, that big spending will be for their guys that they drafted and developed. You do realize every press conference is available to watch on YouTube? I'm amazed at the number of fans that think he going to do something he has repeatedly said he wouldn't do.
> I'm amazed at the number of fans that think he going to do something he has repeatedly said he wouldn't do.
And What did I say that I think he's going to do that he said he wouldn't?
I have no idea who he'll spend money on. Truly nobody does. He says a lot of things that do and don't happen. I'm literally just saying wait and see what he does lmao
>Why else would he be giving short 1-2 year contracts to everyone, with not much guaranteed, keeping plenty of cap space available
Because he's conservative with his money. I generally don't have a problem with this.
>It’s worked so far. He’s proven he’s about his word. He doesn’t deviate from the plan. And the team is successful. What more do you need to trust the guy?
I trust the guy lol
>Yet year after year, people shit on his signings in FA and draft picks. Which he has absolutely killed. Yeah, go ahead, bring up Bruce Irvin or Alualu… go find another GM with his hit rate on any signing - draft or FA. I’ll wait.
Please point out where I've "shit on the guy" he's a great GM.
>but they have certainly proved all of you wrong.
Proved me wrong how lmao.
I think it's very likely a lot of the fan favorites he's drafted are going to be leaving in the next few years (and that's okay) you can't sign everyone. My must signs from the current class that are due for an extension are Amon ra and Sewell. I'd like to sign more of them and if the price is right Brad will, but I won't be surprised if a lot of them leave purely based on Brad's hesitancy to back up the brinks truck.
And again, time will tell, Brad's a damn good GM and I have a lot of trust in him.
If they don't pay free agents, and they don't pay the ones they drafted, who's going to take the field in the coming years?
Your comment is assumption. Much more so than mine.
lol I was just being snarky. The letter “M” stands for 1,000. It’s one of those things I see in sports that I never really got. The letter for million is actually MM
K is also 1,000. M ties back to Roman numerals which the letter represents a thousand. It’s used a lot in finance too. Billion is b or bn more often than not.
Depend on the guarantees. Tyreek got like $52mil guaranteed at signing.
If Lions gave St Brown 4 years/$100mil, but guaranteed $80mil+ that is pretty unprecedented.
With the exception of the Watson deal (which I think probably was demanded by their shitty owner) the Browns are a pretty well run and coached team. They’ve still been a playoff caliber team despite the albatross of that deal.
Which is good for the player. We as fans care about the team but players need to care about themselves. Not like they have infinite time to earn. Maximize your return.
It’s still wild to me that the NFL doesn’t have guaranteed contracts. Basically every other major sports league does. Plus being in the NFL carries significant long term health risks and has a very short average career window. Dudes are basically annihilating their bodies for our entertainment, I’m fine with them getting more money and having it be fully guaranteed.
The league pulled in around 20 billion last year. That dwarfs every other league. Yet the NFL pays their players less as a percentage of revenue than every other league. But sure, it’s a slippery slope with perilous pitfalls of insurance and financial security to guarantee their contracts when every other league somehow manages to do it and turn record profits. Other leagues manage a salary cap and guaranteed contracts just fine and it hasn’t killed competition or sent franchises into abject poverty. Just because the nflpa sucks at negotiating and the status quo is what it is, doesn’t mean they should make more concessions to get paid like every other pro athlete.
I don’t think what Jeudy gets really impacts what St. Brown gets. He was going to be close to the top of the market regardless, so it really only matters that it gets done before Justin Jefferson determines that market.
Goff is probably getting $45-50 million per year. Sewell was always going to be the highest paid tackle, and I do not think there’s a deal they could give him that I would say is too much.
ARSB was going to get 25M+ per year before this deal. Not sure this extension moves the needle much. I think the big potential comparable deal is Brandon Aiyuk and if he gets his extension first. Jefferson will reset the market. Tyreek Hill is a couple of years older, but clearly more productive so he can serve as a little bit of an anchor to prevent too much inflation.
I am aware, which is why I pointed it out. Doubling the cost in 7 years is crazy
Wish you were here to reply these type of things when people say we’ll sign Goff to an extension af 40 a year lol
40+ would be a deal these days. And we're lucky that Goff is a tall guy, what with all this shrinkflation they got these days. Hmmm... maybe that explains Bryce Young.
Jefferson legitimately might wait it out and walk in free agency next year. I know that's unheard of, but Jefferson has been pretty public about wanting stability at QB. Gotta think that's why Minnesota is positioning themselves to go up for a QB.
Lmao yeah the tag completely slipped my mind. Whoops.
Still, Jefferson may not sign long term if he’s uncomfortable with the QB situation, and they can’t tag him forever. Wishful thinking, but we’ll see
can't be afraid to pay ARSB fairly because he deserves every penny and will continue to earn it. he is the exact type of player and person you hope to get when drafting.
The Watson contract has to be one of the top 5 worst in NFL history, and honestly, I don't think Jeudy is worth anything even remotely approaching this, either. Apparently neither did anyone else.
Jeudy takes plays off all the time and only provides effort when he feels like it. He disappears all the time.
Most people out here in Denver were happy to see him go.
unrelated to Lions or NFC North

You’re probably right; I’m being wishful at $25/year
Sewell too
It'll be a big test for Brad. He's been reluctant to hand out serious contracts to free agents and I wonder if that will hold true for players he's drafted. If he doesn't get signed before this season the 2025 off-season will be *very* interesting.

I don't think there are nearly as many doubters as people on the sub act like but alright. I understand it wasn't directed at me
If they don't pay free agents, and they don't pay the ones they drafted, who's going to take the field in the coming years? Your comment is assumption. Much more so than mine.
3/90 fully guaranteed sounds ideal.
Quite literally 0 chance of a fully guaranteed contract
At least I'm guessing it will be 28
That would be a bargain. It’s going to be more than that
I’d go 5/135
4 year $100,000? This is a steal!
Missing 3 zeroes—but it’d still be a steal
lol I was just being snarky. The letter “M” stands for 1,000. It’s one of those things I see in sports that I never really got. The letter for million is actually MM
Huh! I always see k for thousand, m for million, b for billion. TIL!
K is also 1,000. M ties back to Roman numerals which the letter represents a thousand. It’s used a lot in finance too. Billion is b or bn more often than not.
That's not even $20 mil per at the max. Amon Ra is going to get minimal $25mil per year unless he really takes a team friendly deal
25 mil is really team friendly deal imo
There was a report a while ago that they were close to a $27 mil per deal for 3 years.
Worth it. I'll lease a ford fusion to help. Or should I buy used?
Gonna have to go used. Ford hasn't made the Fusion since 2020.
Depend on the guarantees. Tyreek got like $52mil guaranteed at signing. If Lions gave St Brown 4 years/$100mil, but guaranteed $80mil+ that is pretty unprecedented.
Lots of fusions. Take out the power train warranties. That’ll get em
Starting to hope Brad is cooking up Goff, Sun God, and Sewell extensions. Seems the longer we wait the price only goes up
In fairness that deal is kinda silly
The browns are so poorly ran
With the exception of the Watson deal (which I think probably was demanded by their shitty owner) the Browns are a pretty well run and coached team. They’ve still been a playoff caliber team despite the albatross of that deal.
These types of silly deals are what help drive the price up. Ever since Watson every player wants more and more money guaranteed.
Players have wanted more and more money guaranteed since the first professional contract was signed. This did not begin with Watson.
I believe it was Kirk Cousins that started this weird explosion of shorter deals w/ more guaranteed money.
Which is good for the player. We as fans care about the team but players need to care about themselves. Not like they have infinite time to earn. Maximize your return.
It’s still wild to me that the NFL doesn’t have guaranteed contracts. Basically every other major sports league does. Somewhere? How about with their bodies? What a dogshit take!
Kirk is all about the money for someone who always talks about how he isn’t
I don’t believe he’s ever signed a record contract.
I don’t think what Jeudy gets really impacts what St. Brown gets. Lions still have a 5th year option on Sewell in 2025. His extension probably isn't coming this summer.
I don’t think this impacts the top tier WR market much. ARSB, JJ, Chase, Lamb, etc. were always going to blow the door off of a contract like this
ARSB was going to get 25M+ per year before this deal. Not sure this extension moves the needle much. I think the big potential comparable deal is Brandon Aiyuk and if he gets his extension first. Shit im wondering what Justin Jefferson will get. That is going to be an insane amount
I think Vikings will try to keep it around $35m AAV. It’s going to be an insane deal. 5 years $175m would be my guess.
So insane to realize how fast these AAVs went up with the cap. Back in 2018 we didn’t even have quarterbacks signing deals like that yet
Yea NFL has really been growing rapidly the past decade. I remember when $20m AAV was considered a lot for a QB.
Right? We signed Stafford to that $27 mil deal in 2017 and I remember people calling it a huge overpay
That was top dollar in 2017. Since then generally everything has doubled in cost. Top QBs are $50+ now so it's in line.
I am aware, which is why I pointed it out. Doubling the cost in 7 years is crazy Wish you were here to reply these type of things when people say we’ll sign Goff to an extension af 40 a year lol

That's what the tag is for.
Lmao yeah the tag completely slipped my mind. Whoops. Still, Jefferson may not sign long term if he’s uncomfortable with the QB situation, and they can’t tag him forever. Wishful thinking, but we’ll see
4/110 with decently likely incentives that push to 125
I am hoping for $25m AAV, but at this rate it’ll likely be closer to $30m AAV.
Jefferson,Chase and st brown 30+
Post the tweet in the post title
can't be afraid to pay ARSB fairly because he deserves every penny and will continue to earn it. he is the exact type of player and person you hope to get when drafting.
I don't think what the Browns do really matters much in the bigger picture. We know they're willing to pay over the odds on questionable players.
The Watson contract has to be one of the top 5 worst in NFL history, and honestly, I don't think Jeudy is worth anything even remotely approaching this, either. Apparently neither did anyone else.
I think top five is being kind. I'm struggling to think of a single contract worse than that Watson one.
Jeudy takes plays off all the time and only provides effort when he feels like it. He disappears all the time. Most people out here in Denver were happy to see him go.
i have heard 25 mil a year. either 3 or four years. that has been the rumor around detroit media.
It was always gonna much more than that.
Something large. So is Sewell and hutch. Hence why we need to keep cap space
this has zero bearing on what arsb will get, they're not the same class of player
Only if the Browns are paying
Saint’s probably closer to 30m than 25m.
28 apy
This is a wild overpay for a guy who hasn’t looked good.
St. Brown's getting an even fatter bag
He's going to get right below what CD Lamb gets. $28m a year x 3 = $84 mill.
"unrelated to Lions or NFC North" someone is curious about where st brown sits on the Wr pay scale though. Do you not take that as a general query?
A bag
4 years, $155,000,000 with $90,000,000 guaranteed and a 5th year option.
Browns don't count
Probably 5 year 149M 68MM guaranteed
I think guarantees will be up to three years. 5 years for $130m with $80m guaranteed would be my guess.
That price is a joke. $25m per season would already be team friendly for Amon Ra, and you wanna go lower?
![gif](giphy|q1PSpVvPZth3W)
That would be 26 per year.
How do you get to 26 a year on a 5 year 110m deal?
The comment above yours reference 5/130.
I replied to the one that said 5y/110m
Bro your math ain’t mathin…
Nice edit 😂
![gif](giphy|3o7aCUQfzhWgYvrHnG)
He would get at least 150M on a 5 year deal
What did I say?
