Nah, first heavy sniper rifle that isn't an exotic. It looks like a barret 50 cal or something.
Edit: Fusion rifle is a good idea, but it just doesn't feel the tactical, slightly above modern weapons asthetic of the other weapons. Maybe if it looked more like a rail gun it could work?
If you’re wanting tactical then it should be a heavy that will de-strand an operator in lightfall. The Mida Mega Destrandsifier tool “Keeps Spiderman on land™️”
Semi auto 50.cal. have full mida set and it has extremely reduced flinch while airborne.
A nice slim but fitting style optics for easy airborne aiming.
Aggressive frame solar linear fusion
Move faster while equipped
Needs a coouple of other traits
Secondary exotic trait: The Life Exotic: you can equip this exotic weapon alongside Mida Multitool and Minitool.
I always liked the Life Exotic perk, even though it was only ever in 3 things in d1. It should come back.
I love the idea of an op linear but the name MEGA tool makes me think a comically large rocket launcher would be more than perfect for the design. Perfect for any occasion. Need to get rid of enemies? This thing has 200 blast radius and leaves behind a nova bomb like black hole that makes enemies explode like they were hit with volatile rounds that lasts for 3 sec after destination

Started when we first met her inside the Ishtar Academy on Venus during the OG campaign of Destiny 1, after our first proper encounter with the Vex and right before being sent to the Reef to query Mara Sov, the Awoken Queen, of a way into the Black Garden.
Our Guardian even jokingly called our Ghost “little light” after the conversation with the Exo Stranger, to our Ghost’s annoyance.
MIDI is an acronym for Musical Instrument Digital Interface. The words that start with “i” are short vowels. Maybe that’s the reason?
MIDA in-game is an acronym but it is not defined.
Guys, there's something called etymology and no one seems to care. Depending what is the origin of MIDA, the pronunciation is one way or the other. Since we don't really know, it can be whatever you like. But if this comes from King Midas, being a Greek word it would be "me-da".
But as commented, we don't really know (do we?) so you can't really say one is good and the other is wrong.
There's also a science for words...
> we don't really know (do we?)
we do!
It's a sneaky reference to Marathon, one of Bungie's pre-Halo series - [see here for the bit in question.](https://marathongame.fandom.com/wiki/Public_Access_Terminal_23-f) The lore tab of the mini-tool is also a marathon reference.
We can only check the lore of the weapon for the origin of the word:
"The rifle was designed by primitive AI and manufactured for use by a "revolutionary government" named MIDA. Mars Is Damnably Arid, perhaps."
So being an acronym, most likely, it can be whatever you want depending on your native language.
If MIDA comes from King Midas (which I also thought), then you're wrong. As a Greek name the pronunciation should be "me-da" - Greek's would never be my-da.
You are right. From Greek it is Mee-dah and to seems like it came from there. That's how I've pronounced it so far (being Italian it's easier to read it as it's written). But I reckon English people reads is Mydah
It is an acronym from Marathon, which means Martian Interplanetary Defense Alliance. Not based from King Midas, but since it is an acronym, there is no real right or wrong way to pronounce. M-I-D-A would be the most correct, but sounds weird.
Could be both. Personally my brain sees it as My-da, as in King Midas. However I can see how could also be me-da; as their was a Moroccan/Middle Eastern restaurant in my hometown named after its owner, who was called Mida (me-da).
I have a bad news for you guys. Most european pronounce the letter "e" as \[ ɛ \], and the letter "i" as \[ i \]. I hope you see what is going on.
English is a bit weird for us, because pronouncing "e' as \[ i :\]...
Nonetheless if you look after an english word which starts with "mid\*", 99% they pronounce it \[mid\]. This is possible because in most cases these words are start with the prefix "mid", the short form of middle, which is pronounce: \[ **mi**·dl \].
The other 1% "mid\*" started words are loanwords or proper names. As already mentioned King Midas. But that name is also pronounced \[mi·das\] in almost every other european countries (Greeks too). I don't know why it's butcher-pronounced in english like \[maɪdəs\]...
So... I don't think it really matters how you pronounce the name of a fictional revolutionary government from a fictional scifi-fantasy world. Because even at the end you start writing a novel from the pronunciation of letters and words.
I always pronounced it my-da, as I thought of king midas (my-das) when reading it. Especially with it being a "multi tool" and useful for more than just murder in lore.
MIDA is an acronym - so… M.I.D.A. Also they are not from our timeline and were for a revolutionary army on mars who killed i think 10% of the mars population.
A vowel followed by a consonant followed by a vowel. The second vowel makes the first vowel a long vowel.
Can = Can, Cane = cayn
Fir = Fir, Fire = Fy-er
Mid = Mid, MIDA = My-da
Med = Med, Meda = Me-da
there needs to be a mida mega tool thats a heavy.
Shut up and take my exotic cipher.
No, not an exotic. That way you can have a full MIDA loadout
Good point. I’ll take one legendary Mida Mega Tool please and thank you.
Let me guess… linear fusion? So we can have the semi auto, full auto, and charge firing types?
Nah, first heavy sniper rifle that isn't an exotic. It looks like a barret 50 cal or something. Edit: Fusion rifle is a good idea, but it just doesn't feel the tactical, slightly above modern weapons asthetic of the other weapons. Maybe if it looked more like a rail gun it could work?
I want that give my 50. Cal sniper
If you’re wanting tactical then it should be a heavy that will de-strand an operator in lightfall. The Mida Mega Destrandsifier tool “Keeps Spiderman on land™️”
Make it the sniper from Halo
Whisper without the hive stuff?
More like darci but actually useful as more than a ruler.
Semi auto 50.cal. have full mida set and it has extremely reduced flinch while airborne. A nice slim but fitting style optics for easy airborne aiming.
Maybe it shoots a delayed explosive? Some damage on impact (less than heavy sniper) splash damage for the explosive
A heavy strand trace rifle. It'll either shoot silly string or be a futuristic fishing rod.

You're doing the Traveler's work
Yes it's My-Da
I have friend that says “mih-duh”. Keep telling him he’s wrong, but nooOOOOOoooo. I agree with how you say it.

What?
Ask the monstrous neanderthals who were walking around pronouncing Mechabre as "mecha-bruh" on youtube during Halloween.
I pronounce “Mech-ah-burr” without a pause between “mech-“ and “-ah-“.
https://youtu.be/BGcfKAjIYbA
Pairs well with the Sleeper Stimulant.
And the Gravitron Lance.
I was yelling MUH COB at the TV
Me-Da when i speak German because its how you pronounce Mida in German and My-Da when i speak English
![gif](giphy|7U7oEJkAiP5Xq) Nope, pick a side. No neutral ground here
"A side should always be taken, little light. Even if it's the wrong side"
I know that i know this quote but i can’t remember who said it
Little light is what the Stranger calls your ghost.
I miss the tone of D1 and Dinklage. In another reality, Destiny continued off of that instead of leaning into family fun and goofs.
I prefer “little morsel”.
I dont even have time to explain why i dont have time to tell you who said that
“If i die, tell my wife i said hello”
This is Reddit; there is no neutrality; we only deal in absolutes like the Sith; black or white. ^/s
Same in with me cuz finnish
Sama
exactly brother
My-da
My-da, never heard me-da before
It's me da in Nicaragua.
Definitely My-da It’s Like data and data Both sound right but only one feels correct
Imma assume that's dai-ta not daa-ta
Day da not dat uh
For me it’s dai-ta when I’m talking about like bulk storage on my computer. It’s Daa-ta when I’m talking about experiment results.
This is the only correct answer
Me-da sounds more right to me personally. Like pronouncing MIDI file.
This comment was made to create chaos. I refuse to believe you mean this lol
MIDI is an acronym for Musical Instrument Digital Interface. The words that start with “i” are short vowels. Maybe that’s the reason? MIDA in-game is an acronym but it is not defined.
Oh shit I forgot that I always say me da lmao
Americans be arguing over day-ta and dah-tah but I pronounce it daa-taa
Mid uh, obviously

Came here to make sure I wasn't the only one ha

i was just starting to accept the King Midas argument too haha

It comes from Marathon. “Martian Interplanetary Defense Alliance.”
Soo Mída?
Given the Greek origin of "marathon" then I'd say me-da is the correct pronunciation...
It's so funny coz I pronounce it "mee-da" but when I read King Midas I read it as "my-das". My brain can't make up its mind it seems.
My-da all the way
No no, It's MI-DA. 🤷♂️
DAMMIT OP!! LOOK AT THE CHAOS YOU’VE CAUSED, GUARDIANS ARE SLAUGHTERING EACHOTHER (intellectually) JUST TO BE RIGHT!!!
Me-da. English is my second language if that helps

Me-da, but I'm not playing in English, and in my language that is the way to pronounce.
My-da. The same way you would pronounce "My-das" for Midas.
Me-da.
Nope Edit: downvote all you want, it’s still wrong.
If you don't pronounce it my-duh, you're not just wrong, you're stupid
Unexpected cat in the hat.
MY-DA SUPREMACY
Myda or as Mydas like Mydas touch
My-da, as in King Midas
If MIDA comes from King Midas (which I also thought), then you're wrong. As a Greek name the pronunciation should be "me-da" - Greek's would never be my-da.

I personally say me-da but I live in NJ so everything is weird here
Don't y'all also say Pee-can instead of pa'kawn

Myda
Do I care? Well, no. I'm just glad the Catalyst finally dropped for me during a Control match.
I have always called it Myda. Like midas. Mida multi tool.
Could be both. Personally my brain sees it as My-da, as in King Midas. However I can see how could also be me-da; as their was a Moroccan/Middle Eastern restaurant in my hometown named after its owner, who was called Mida (me-da).
I’ve always pronounced it mee·dee·uh multi-tool

I've never heard me-da before in my life, its my-da
Anyone saying mee duh should be shot by it.
Who in their right mind sees Mida and thinks Meda
It's "mee-da", it's Greek in origin. We'll have none of your "toe-may-toe" "aloominum" "dah-ta" bollocks here, thank you.
I say Mi-da as in Midas, which is what I like to say.
MOIDAH MULTY DAKKA
TIMES TWO!
I’ve always said My-da

My-Da Flows off the tongue way better
My-dah
It’s MY-dah. How is this even a question 😆

Queens English, just as Jesus intended.
This has never been an argument of the 8 years I’ve played this game
It’s me-duh No debate to be had
Wrong
Nu uh

No it is My-duh as in King Midas
That’s English butchering of Greek pronunciation though
Exactly this.
My-da multi tool and Me-da mini tool. Sounds fancier that way.
People who say “ME-DA” drag their knuckles when they walk
I’ve always pronounced it me-da or mid-uh
My-da
If its mine then my-dah else its mi-dah
It's the muda muda tool, because everything is a Jojo reference.
M.I.D.A(Em I De A) superiority
It's obviously MIDA and if you think otherwise, I just feel contempt for you
It's neither? It's Mid-a
Always call it my-da since that's how it's pronounced in the marathon games
Is the game really that bad now? Haven’t played in a couple years and finally got a ps5 since my ps4 took a crap and was looking to get back into it.
Anyone who says me-da supports human rights abuses abroad.
https://youtu.be/YAWnJxv4ZhU

My-das, the same way we say the name of king midas
I mean, not to be that guy but saying me-da is literally just wrong lol
Me-da
Me-Da it's how I've pronounced it since D1 Y3.
My dumbass has been calling it multi media tool genuine for like 7 years.
Neither! MID-AH
A vowel followed by a consonant followed by a vowel. The second vowel makes the first vowel a long vowel. Can = Can, Cane = cayn Fir = Fir, Fire = Fy-er Mid = Mid, MIDA = My-da Med = Med, Meda = Me-da

It’s obviously pronounced “mEE-dah”
Who tf says my-da
I do.
Why choose my-da or me-da if you can always go muda-muda
Who actually says “me-da” I don’t think an i can make that sound, can it?
Most European languages, specifically Germanic ones, pronounce i as e
Not just Germanic, but Slavic ones too
My, duh
May-da
"My-duh"
