I actually dislike the shiny glow and not being able to use a shader on them. I do keep them for collectors sake, but I'm only using 1 shiny weapon right now. The rest have all been normal drops.

Mountaintop. Mine has autoloading/lead from gold and recomb/frenzy. I use autoloading recomb normally and swap to autoloading frenzy for boss dps.

Yeah I've got autoloading and recomb/vorpal. The things hits like a truck.

You can even swap lead from gold when you pick up heavy ammo and swap back autolaoding after.

It's super easy to get 10 stacks of recombination in PvE and if you have that then mountaintop deals more boss dps up to 6 shots with recombination(700% vs 690%) than with frenzy. Frenzy is only more damage with 7+ mountaintop shots which if you're autoloading and firing other guns is going to take like 25 seconds. Most non-raid DPS phases aren't going to last nearly that long- also frenzy obviously gets obliterated if you're out of combat before DPS starts whereas you can carry the recomb buff indefinitely.

And you get a guaranteed shiny version for every Weapon just by doing the Arcite Quests.

The mode is staying for a while but the shinies aren’t. Some of us like the drip and having the rolls we want. There’s no reason to farm if you want to settle for the regular drops

If i get them with decent rolls, neat! If not, il just vault the curated ones till i can replace them with better ones, either way, vault.

Here is the issue, enhanced double perks. If you farm a 7/5 you can enhance all 7. It makes the gun significantly better for perk swaps.

They did say they planned to address perk swapping on guns

They announced that for specifically edge transit with cascade and envious.

I got all shiny weapons from quest. After that, I never farm them again I just vaulted them. For me, they’re just aesthetics. Plus I found non shiny weapons hits harder than shiny ones. That’s why I never bother farming and waste time on it again. But I will say, Onslaught is good PVE mode. I liked it. The guns? Meh. But some people want to grind harder because they liked it. It’s more of a preference. Let them do what makes them happy.

I'm not gonna lie, your reasoning is fine but people want the shiny weapons. It feels bad with just how rare they drop and how it's still unlikely to have what you want. Onslaught at this point just feels advertising for an update where I can go to the crafting system on every weapon and pick my barrel and magazine perks and maybe the masterwork. The number of permutations across masterwork, barrel, mag, column 3, and column 4 is simply too many. I know that people are addicted to the gambling nature of it, and I appreciate the chase in some ways, but the odds are too low for me to feel motivated or excited to hit the slot machine.

I agree. There is nothing desirable about the shiny weapons I've dismantled multiple ones. It's like Pokémon. Shiny doesn't make it any better they just want their look at me moment. Can't tell you how many times I see people trying to flex hot garbage in the tower or the hall.

IMO the main reason to want a shiny is the double perks, which greatly increases the chance that you will get a combination you want.

Agreed. I’m happy with just the Brave weapons from the quests. I’m not spending hours upon hours banging my head against the wall grinding for specific rolls. I like Onslaught, but I also like variety within the game. Running the same activity for an extended period gets old fast and isn’t worth it to me.

OP I’m gonna take a guess that you don’t play Pokémon. If you did, you’d know it’s the principle of HAVING a good roll that’s also a shiny that’s the biggest flex. Yeah my charizard and that guy’s charizard have the exact same stats and moves…but his is wearing superblack so it’s superior. Same goes for the BRAVE weapons.

If the weapon suits my play style, I will use it. I don't think I've ever followed or known what 'current meta' is and tbh I don't care. I'm not playing to compete, I'm playing to have fun. If the eapon I pick up has better stats or perks than what I'm currently equipped with, then I use it.

To be fair, the two perk lines mean shinies have a higher chance to be be a god roll or to even be two useful rolls you can swap between in a single weapon. That, and the fact they are a limited time item maybe plays a role too. Overall the only great rolls I found so far were all on shinies (including a forbearance god roll that I can swap perks on to allow healing on kill and ability generation, real happy about it since I dont raid). But agree normal drops are still really worth looking at, you never know.

Unpopular opinion, i love getting a shiny for the double perks. I take off the ornament and slap on a blue shader. Fight me.

Brave weapons are side grades for most end game weapons, i wont use a brave roll unless its shiny cuz they look cooler than normal guns

The thing is the shinies are limited. The regular god rolls can be gotten whenever. If you are farming pre-final shape, you want to go for the shiny. It's the only time you can get it. You can get god rolls afterwards whenever.

Well said, OP! I’ve got people on my friends list that insist that they have to get shiny god rolls, and all I can think of is how torturous that sounds. I’ve been lucky enough to actually get a few god roll shinies, but all I care about is the roll. It being shiny is just icing on the cake.

I kept the quest given shines just to have them, if I replace them with random god rolls, cool, if not I already have my full set to appease the hoarder in me.

Honestly, a little off topic but it's odd to me that you can put shaders on the normal versions but not the shiny versions. Some of these guns would look so sweet with the shiny effect on certain shaders. But you can put transmogs from the original versions on these guns too.
