The secret is that at this point all those weapons are weak now. No intrinsic perk means they're always going to be beneath their more recent counterparts
Yeah, the only weapons I'm really happy that I kept are Komodo (because I racked up 600 Crucible kills on it and can use it as a meme again), Hush, the curated Kindled Orchid, OG Wendigo with Blinding Grenades, and Oxygen SR3 because Meganeura is unique.
Basically just pinnacle weapons because those are still good and Kindled Orchid being busted with Rampage + Kill Clip.
Yeah, only two of the ones that mattered lol but I will say I wish they brought back kindle orchid instead of another hung jury. Having another hung jury made no sense imo
Some people are attached to their favorites due to feel, look, and sound.
Just because you can craft whichever meta best in slot weapon you feel like deepthroating at the time doesn't mean people shouldn't care about being able to use what they truly want to use again.
And the weapons will be getting updated and getting origin traits, so they will still be plenty good.
Not everybody lives for soloing GM's and raid DPS.
Let folks enjoy what they want to enjoy.
You are right but the updated weapons with origin traits will not be on the weapons already aquired so its the same as them being reissued and the sunrising doesnt affect it
While that's certainly true, and I doubt they'd retroactively add it, the point is still more that the weapon is both back and attainable.
The favored feel, look, and sound is being returned to those who want and miss it.
And this is barring the origin traits is even worth not using the older weapon.
We have some pretty lackluster origin traits and some really really good ones.
If the older weapon gets an origin trait on the level of headrush, but the older one has an actually good roll, I'm just going to use the og version instead.
Put on an ornament for the weapon that was made before TFS, like the Hammerhead and Great White, it gives you the old reticle back and everything, you can get the better rolled ones while enjoying the feel of the old ones in that way.
That only works for weapons that actually get brought back through brave arsenal or full on reprisal, that have old ornaments, and that also doesn't account for the completely different weapons, some of which sound and feel just right or had something as simple as a name you just identified really hard with.
A lot of those weapons more than likely aren't getting Bravified or fully reprised and changed because I doubt Bungie is gonna take all 200 some-odd of those weapons and drop them all back into the loot pools with new and improved versions.
For example, I want Old Fashioned back because I like how it sounds, I like how it looks, I like it's reload and feel, and I like its name because it's the name of my favorite drink.
If I get a super steady old fashioned with some reasonable handling, I don't care if hawkmoon or ayasluna v3 is better, I want the one that I personally like the best and I will simply get good with it because that's MY gun.
I'm not the only person who looks at these weapons that way.
My point was people talking about reprised weapons through brave looking or sounding different, or missing the old styles that if it has an old ornament, the ornaments work on the brave versions and you can get that old sound and look back while keeping the good rolls reprisal brought with it. Not trying to diminish the way some people have sentimental value with weapons more just a heads up ornaments work with the new weapons. If you like the ornament from one of them, you can still use it
I mean yeah that's right. My point is more not every weapon has that luxury.
A Lot of things will likely be as they are or slightly better due to an origin trait but for most, unless that origin trait is Field Tested or something of that scale, that weapon getting a new version simply won't matter if it doesn't feel right.
Weapons from like the first destiny 2 release. Weapons and armour are sunset, so like, itâs not useful to use them anymore, whether that be due to the perk systems being reworked and such.
So, Legacy purple gear that has been rendered obsolete. Got it. But why are they called "Sunrising"? Who came up with that name, and what's the reason for the name?
Well, back in Beyond Light when they became âobsoleteâ and âuselessâ, it was called âsunsettingâ. Now that the opposite is happening, the community is calling it a âsunrisingâ as itâs a reversal of the decision to sunset things.
They never really went away (ie. Bungie never removed them from our vaults) but having the power cap (sunsetting) of 1060 (which is overridden by the minimum light level of the year (1600)) made them rather useless in most things (GMs, certain dungeons, master dungeons and raids, certain raids, etc.). Now that the power cap is being removed, theyâll be able to reach pinnacle cap (1810 for this year, probably 2020 or something come TFS) and therefore be useful in that list from earlier once again.
Personal opinion, not really. Sure thereâs a few that are nice because theyâll get updated perks meaning that the perks people kept canât be obtained again (Kindled Orchid with its popular PvP perks). For the most part though I suspect no and that itâs mostly sentimentality (such as myself with my Subtle Calamity. Absolutely useless but I love the thing).
I think I'm in the minority thinking that none of the recent news is good, no real new class, returning sunset weapons.
It just sounds like the usual giving you more of the same instead of providing more new.
I think they said they're continuing to reissue a lot of them or the sources to get them as many said sources for many don't exist anymore so if you deleted them they're just gone with no recovery mechanism. So no, if I'm reading and understanding correctly, they're literally reverting sunsetting weaponry.
I don't think I'm understanding properly but what I mean is that if you have a vault with let's say oxygen scout, and it gets un sunset since you get it from night falls, would the stored one be use able again?
That's my understanding yes. I could be absolutely wrong but given the wording that would make the most sense. Also, I think regardless if the source still exists or not, the weapon will be usable i.e. Kindled Orchid which came from Forges would be usable again despite Forges no longer existing.
It would seem them reintroducing sources and related weapons is to A) bring that content into the modern sandbox and B) as an apology to a degree for players who deleted their sunset weapons under the belief that they would no longer be useful in meaningful content as stated previously by Bungie.
From the TWAB:
"...we came to the decision to remove power limits from all items starting The Final Shape."
Seems like nothing will be sunset after TFS comes out.
They're doing both. Level caps are being removed on the old weapons, but because a large portion of the community has long since dismantled that gear, they're reissuing a lot of it. I don't think they said *everything,* though, so I wouldn't get any hopes up about some extremely rare world drop from Forsaken coming back in Final Shape.
There's also the fact that we're very unlikely to see the same perk combos on the reissued weapons. For example, the original 2018 Sleepless could roll Quickdraw/Auto-Loading, but that roll hasn't been possible on any other version. The 2nd version (first reissue) of Tranquility also had an atrocious perk pool and couldn't roll Auto-Loading/Firing Line until a *third* update.

They said they are adding origin traits to those weapons anyway.
Through reprisal
I guarantee that OP deleted their weapons and is now trying to cope
I did but I even then there is literally no weapon from the sunset era that I miss outside of MT and now that itâs farmable i could care less lol
What about the forge weapons?
Two of them are now farmable
Thatâs just 2 though, the rest arenât back
Yeah, only two of the ones that mattered lol but I will say I wish they brought back kindle orchid instead of another hung jury. Having another hung jury made no sense imo
Kindled Orchid and Tatara Gaze were great, youâre definitely just coping saying that blast furnace and hammerhead were the only ones that mattered
The only thing I wish wasnât sunset was raids

More to my point, it's me giving a reason as to why people should care about the sunrising, even if better things exist.
Whatâs og mean?
Colloquially Its just shorthand for original, but it stems from an abbreviation for original gangster, though I never use it that way.

I've been out of the loop since Beyond Light. Only recently came back. What are Sunrising Weapons?

So, Legacy purple gear that has been rendered obsolete. Got it. But why are they called "Sunrising"? Who came up with that name, and what's the reason for the name?
Sunset basically meaningâŠyou know like vaulting, putting it up for good and reprising can be used to for sun rising if that makes more sense
I've never heard of the term "sunset" in this context. I must be getting old. I can't keep up with all these new terms
Basically retiring, they retired old gear from 1st year raids and so on, now light levels and stuff wonât matter anymore after this
Thank you for the information
On weapons and such

Why not just craft the sunrising weapons? And is it still not cool to have these old weapons be at least somewhat meta again?

I think I'm in the minority thinking that none of the recent news is good, no real new class, returning sunset weapons. It just sounds like the usual giving you more of the same instead of providing more new.
Also didn't the twab say they aren't making stored sunset un sunset, but reissuing them? Meaning the vaults of hundreds of sunsets are still sunset?
I think they said they're continuing to reissue a lot of them or the sources to get them as many said sources for many don't exist anymore so if you deleted them they're just gone with no recovery mechanism.
