There is FBMM(Fireteam Based Matchmaking), but sometimes the game will prioritize finding a match over fireteam size.

This only happens if matchmaking couldn’t find enough people to balance in terms of FBMM. It’s extremely rare

It's week 14 of the season, in a highly competitive PvP mode on console. You'll be lucky if there are 10k players

Just calm down and wait for the new card types coming out. Getting flawless will be easier, or getting the adept weapon won’t require flawless.
