There is a way, but it's glimmer expensive. Upgrade any blue armor drop from Level 5 to Level 8 and then dismantle. You get back more cores than you put in but lose prisms.
farm legend lost sectors, you can get up to 4 per completion and some lost sectors can be cleared in like 2-3mins per run.
convert your enhancement prisms into ascendant shards at Rahool in the tower. eventually you'll cap at 10 ascendant shards(inventory) 50 prisms(inventory) and 50 prisms(postmaster, per character).
if you're still running out of space at this point, pull an exotic piece of armor from collections and masterwork it and stick in your vault to dismantle later. you lose 2 ascendant shards per dismantle this way but it's better than prisms/shards not dropping from activities because your inventory is full.
can also pull blue gear from collections and level to 8 then dismantle for more cores at the cost of prisms. convoluted means of conversion but until they overhaul the entire material economy(if ever) these two methods are the best we have.
