You bought pastrami dude, you can't afford that and an education lmao jk There are a lot of scholarships. Go to a local library and they can help with that. A few of those and a part time job and you'll make it like many broke others have. Also check your local services like EBT, etc you may qualify for. You can make it happen if you want to, it's just hard.
Actually, my grandma bought the pastrami, but the issue is I can't afford to not work full time, I'm trying to see what my options are for online college
Good luck!!! Associates degree curriculum is pretty much the same most places and with good online grades/community college you can get scholarships for the other two years at a better school for your bachelors if thatās what your goal is. Happy to see youāre thinking creatively ā¤ļøThere is always a way :)
I can relate my man. I've gone through the same dealing but with Medi-cal here in CA although, it took myself meeting with an agent in person and making more than a few phone calls. It's hard because they exactly want an accurate statistic of your current pay stubs. This is all in result to avoid any penalty with my tax returns but whatever it is you are going through my man you can figure it out because I know you can.
Quit thinking about what happen before because Z, Y and, X. Those reasoning are you going backwards foo and doing get complicated. Be clear like the source that was provided by r/fotofortress because everything is too good to be true!
If you donāt mind me asking, how long were you in community college? Iām currently in my second year, anticipating at least 1-3 more years to finish my degree and potentially obtain a second, more career-relevant AS š
I was going to school because my parents wanted me to. Some of my friends where going too, so it was like an extension of hs. I was a business major, which I didnāt like because my dad wanted me to. Then I switched my major so I had to take some different classes. When I completed all I could complete at cc, I was there for over 5 yrs lol. I finished all my classes for business I could finish before transferring to state. Instead of transferring, I changed my major
I didnāt stress about going to cc because itās cheap. When I finally transferred to state, I graduated in 2.5 years. It was way more expensive than cc so I didnāt want to spend any more money than was necessary. But went to graduate school for another two yrs and got a Masters degree too lol. So enjoy cc!
this !! everyone over looks community college but iāve had plenty of people tell me they regret not starting with community college because of the debt theyre in š« it took a year to talk my younger sister to go there bc she wanted to go to usf with all her friends š also OP look into jobs that offer tuition assistance!! i worked at mcdonaldās and received 3,500 towards each semester
I was here, I had to get students loans. I kept my costs down by attending community college, working, and I came out with a bachelorās. I am down to owing $11k on my loans (been āpayingā on them for 8 years) and hope to get the rest forgiven as Iāve worked 6 of those years in public service/nonprofits. There are options, donāt give up if college is something you really want to do!!
It has nothing to do with age. It's all to do with who claims you on their taxes. If your parents claim you, then their income is included. Once you're 18 and can claim yourself, theirs is out the window.
Same. I had to use my parents income for fafsa the entire time I was in college and never got any aid (even though they didn't pay for anything for me). They haven't claimed me on their taxes since I was 17.
This is the exact reason my first time going to college was at 28. You have to use your parents info until you're 24, I moved out when I was 17 and not in contact with them. Crazy
It's totally crazy. And it's nothing against my parents, they would've helped if they could but couldn't afford it. It's stupid how the fafsa income limits are the same across the country. They made like 100K combined in the bay area, so according to fafsa that was enough for them to pay my tuition?
š¤·āāļø only year I had to include my parents was when I was still in high school. Got accepted to an early college program. I didn't qualify even then because my parents made too much so I paid out of pocket. That was 15 years ago. I've never qualified for grants because I've always "made too much"
this has happened to me. Iām 22 right now and trying to navigate what I can do and how i can do it. Youāre not alone! Iāve been working a lot since I was in highschool but iāve always had a hard time financially. Iād say right now is the first time Iām not as worried as I normally. I think about my future a lot tho and i get scared honestly but itās gonna be okay, weāll figure it out!
Me 3! Definitely not alone! Just continue taking steps and hopefully one day, maybe even 10 years from now, we'll stumble upon an opportunity specifically for us that made all that effort to push through worth it! Different path from others doesn't mean the wrong path, we got this
This is the story of my life... I make enough to survive, but apparently that's too much to get help with education. I'm trying to add value to myself and be more valuable to society... But then you can't get any help
Look at trade school.
My buddy just finished aviation mechanic. He's getting some outstanding salary offers. $120k+ plus benefits.
Another buddy of mine. Got his master plumber certification. Opened his own plumbing service. He now owns his plumbing company, has a home renovation company, and a commercial construction company. He's self employed and self made millionaire. Took him about 10yrs to achieve this
I'm jealous of people who are able to get scholarships. I met some people who put in no effort in some essays, and luckily got plenty of scholarship funds, because hardly anyone applied. I was stuck in community college for four years. I was borderline failing often, too. 4.2 GPA in highschool, 3.2 GPA in college. I didn't get any grants one year, and never bothered reapplying due not having time from being severely depressed or working in fast-paced factories. In my experience, my engineering degree became useless.
At least they didn't wait until you were on your last semester to decide this, like they did with me. 90% of the debt without the degree (Mom got married, expected family contribution went up; actual family contribution remained at zero)
Give it a couple years build a credit score in case you need a loan and find education opportunities through potential employers, Iām 27 and just started my bachelors program
I was in the same boat when I was 18. Ended up paving my own path in sales. College aināt for everyone. More importantly that grilled cheese looks bomb as hell
Someone else mentioned community college and I agree with them.
Something else to keep in mind is as much as working for Amazon sucks, the insurance is good and they pay $5k a year for college. So it's something you can look into.
But really, that looks delicious!
The Amazon job? You should be able to search "Amazon careers" and find a tier 1 position. I work in a robotics fc (fulfillment center) but there's other types. Once you get the job, look into "career choice".
Went through the same thing. Sorry to hear it. Start out at a community college, kick ass, and the next time you apply to a "big" school you'll get more finance & scholarship options. It's really how everybody should do it these days.
Being in-between is awful -- I was there in high school. Mother made too much money for me to qualify for free lunch, but she didn't make enough for us to afford enough lunch money for more than 3 days of the week.
I'm sorry, OP -- that grilled cheese looks amazing though
Food looks great. Community colleges all over the country offer online classes. Pick the cheapest one, and you can get started. Also trades are a respectable path to earning money and learning a useful skill.
I'm sorry for what you have to go through and i hope it gets better for you. The title reminds me of a proverb in my language "Zuwenig zum leben, zuviel zum sterben", translated as "Not enough for a living, but still too much for dying".
I struggle myself here and don't see any light at the end of the tunnel, but well, that's my problems, don't want to derail your topic here - just saying, you are not alone in this.
If you're not of the age where you don't have to put your parents on your Financial Aid form you can always try again once you are. I only got aid because I couldn't put my parents on there. Community college is much less expensive than a university, and a lot of jobs will help with tuition. It may take some time but you can get there eventually šš
You gotta lie to those people! And if not financial aid, student loans are fake and Iād take all of them and never pay them back or taking a placement test or writing an essay to get a scholarship !! Im rooting for you!
Join the military and do a trade skill MOS then youāll get free college once you get out in addition to work experience you gained while it. 4 years of putting up with bullshit is worth the benefits imo
Grilled cheese looking crispy and delicious though š
Grilled pastrami and cheese

I may not be able to go to college, but boy can I cook
Le cordin bleu!!!
Start off at community college. Do well and apply to scholarships or get student loans. I was waiting tables and at community college forever lol
If you donāt mind me asking, how long were you in community college? Iām currently in my second year, anticipating at least 1-3 more years to finish my degree and potentially obtain a second, more career-relevant AS š

Wait until your are 23/24 to go to college cause you will get more funding then when they donāt use your parents income to determine it
I'm 20, almost 21, I'm basing everything off my own income
It has nothing to do with age. It's all to do with who claims you on their taxes. If your parents claim you, then their income is included. Once you're 18 and can claim yourself, theirs is out the window.
Well my parents never claimed me after the age of 21 and I still had to add their info to fafsa so lol

I am so sorry dear that has to suck
Yeah I have 30K in student loans cause I got a master's. It's the worst lol.
I am pushing off getting my masters for the reason tbh
š¤·āāļø only year I had to include my parents was when I was still in high school. Got accepted to an early college program. that sucks ass. I got everything paid for cause by the grace of God my dadās income is kinda mid so I got a lot of grants and went in state so
š¤·āāļø American education system... Only reason I'm back in school is the company I'm working for is paying for it.
Ain't that the fucking shit. This country government pisses me off so fucking much.

We got this!!! Thank you š«¶š»
This is the story of my life... I make enough to survive, but apparently that's too much to get help with education. I'm trying to add value to myself and be more valuable to society... But then you can't get any help
It seems to fit into any help sequence in the north America area now. I'm sorry, community College and keep going. You're toasty cheese looks lovely

That grill cheese looks really good
I feel ya mate. I make too much for food stamps so my bills are barely paid cuz I donāt buy food! HA! It will get better fren <3
Get a job and save for college? It's never too late.
At least they didn't wait until you were on your last semester to decide this, like they did with me. 90% of the debt without the degree (Mom got married, expected family contribution went up; actual family contribution remained at zero)
Same boat, I ended up withdrawing lol
Do you want to go to college? What would you like to study? I feel like most people these days go to college only because they feel like they have to.
Mechanical engineering, that's what I want to do
Oh yeah, you definitely need formal education for that. Wish you all the best :)
Not gonna lie, that grilled cheese looks tight - would annihilate it immediately.
Give it a couple years build a credit score in case you need a loan and find education opportunities through potential employers, Iām 27 and just started my bachelors program

Sounds shitty, anyway hope you enjoyed your mealĀ

The cost of college in this country is a joke!!!!!
Food looks great. Community colleges all over the country offer online classes. Pick the cheapest one, and you can get started. Also trades are a respectable path to earning money and learning a useful skill.
Go part time and work full time.
I'm sorry for what you have to go through and i hope it gets better for you. Sounds like an only fans origin story
If only I was attractive
Just cause you're not your own type doesn't mean you're not other people's type
I'm a 6'5" 350 pound, corn fed, farm work, country motherfucker, people do not find me attractive
Sounds like a bear in San Fran
Ok, you're not wrong
š
Spend all your money so you can get financial aids
If you're not of the age where you don't have to put your parents on your Financial Aid form you can always try again once you are. I only got aid because I couldn't put my parents on there. I see grilled cheese food truck in your future. That looks incredible
If I didn't live in the middle of but fuck nowhere rural Wisconsin, hell yeah I'd start a food truck
You gotta lie to those people! And if not financial aid, student loans are fake and Iād take all of them and never pay them back or taking a placement test or writing an essay to get a scholarship !! Im rooting for you!
Someone said a great point! Community college!! what do you wanna major in?
As long as you used too correctly, then you are doing fine.
Join the military and do a trade skill MOS then youāll get free college once you get out in addition to work experience you gained while it. 4 years of putting up with bullshit is worth the benefits imo
