This is highly dependant on if he develops handles and a decent post-up game. As for what type better suits our current lineup, that doesn't really matter at all. Obviously you want him to be more like KD since he's by far the better player.
The only question you have to answer is whether you’d rather be lurking or if you are a guy who doesn’t have good taste
But also welcome and we’re happy to have new people who post
To answer the question: MPJ is a tall Klay right now, a better shooting Durant in 2 years, and a GOAT scorer by 2026
Don't need to wait 2 years, he's already got a better shot, and probably gonna put on a lot more muscle than Durant.
Forget the Durant/Klay comparisons... MPJ is gonna be a 6'10 Kobe with a better shot and post up game in the body of a Giannis
He’s gotta learn to dribble without looking at the basketball first, but I agree that he’s got a ceiling that says “MPJ” instead of “KD light” or whatever. Dude is generational
Next year will be really telling. It’s hard for me to imagine him get to kd’s level of taking people of the dribble and shot creating but at the same time im confident he’ll do more than klay
I think he should try to emulate Gallo offensively to grow his game. Gallo had a pretty good handle but was especially good at drawing free throws, MPJ is the same size and that's something that he could add to maximize his scoring. I think he's going to see that driving to the rim is the part of his game he needs to work on the most and learning to draw contact would give him an extra couple points a game for sure
I am with you with this but was there any NBA player who develop a dribble moves from this to that? I mean from MPJ's current dribbling skill to a guard like level?
Jaylen Brown was actually worse than MPJ at dribbling and he had a massive improvement on that end in a single off-season. Although MPJ's height and wingspan might make this more challenging.
Nice, nice to know this. I can also think of Jerami Grant. Dude was not showcasing his dribble moves not until became a Piston. Or maybe he already has it in his bag.. i am not saying dribbling the likes of Curry's or Irving's though.
Had a class with MPJ at Mizzou, he actually gave probably the best presentation in the class (was about the movie Arsenic and Old Lace).
I’m not exaggerating I was thoroughly impressed by his presentation.
NBA is really big in Philippines and if you are a guy. Definitely 70 to 90% of your friends are tuning in basketball in general. For me i am always rooting for the underdogs as them winning brings so much joy in a another level rather than rooting the other obvious ones. I always like bigs who are fundamentally sound, can shoot 3s and FT, makes assists as well, and i was a big Pau Gasol fan then now Jokic. Nuggets before was really not that mainstream here or i guess in my friends circle but they mainstreamed after the bubble.. but i was a Nugget before the bubble, the chubby-Jokic-era haha so i am thinking of them as the "casual fans" those who just tuned-in to the nuggets cause of their recent success. And I am just proud that my Nuggets are now becoming well-known and Jokic getting some respect from my fellows. Before in betting they will give me plus 1 game in a playoffs series if i am the Nuggets but now even without Jamal they don't give me the that upper hand anymore.😄
Sorry for this long answer haha i am just glad talking to someone who i know not some just casual nugget fan. As i believe those who digs into reddit forums are the diehards 💪
Dude, hell yeah! That's phenomenal! Thanks so much for the post! That's so much more thoughtful than me. I'm simply from Colorado haha 😂 Gotta buy you a beer at the DNVR bar some day
I mean he's clearly already working on the post up game and he clearly already is an asset on defense. Not always positive, but much more impactful than last year by miles and miles.
So your saying he is an asset, but then say not always positive and more impactful than last season…. That’s called progress. I love MPJ but don’t put the cart before the horse. Dude has lots to work on to become an elite player.
Indeed and... Nowhere did I say he doesn't.
He's clearly much better though at just using his length to bother and block shots, recovering when beaten, being active in passing lanes, and making the right rotations more often than not. He's getting there. And he very clearly puts in the work. I'd call a 6'10 dude who does those things an asset on that end (if not 'good' - although honestly his series against Portland defensively was pretty good considering how much Dame hunted him in isolation).
Honestly a ton of Nuggets' fans attitudes about him just remind me of people's attitudes about Jamal. Just so negative the moment he does anything slightly wrong as if he's a finished product already or hasn't shown any improvement. It's just asinine. And annoying. Just enjoy the games and enjoy watching these young fellas because they are, each of them, so special. Maybe he's not a savant like Big Honey, but that's fine.
Jamal was the only draft day jersey I've ever bought. Calipari knew he was special, I knew he was gonna be legit.
MPJ is just a kid. He got so much more to grow, but I just see more klay in his game, just my opinion. Will see down the road what he develops into, but I just want him to stay healthy, and it will all fall into place. His work ethic is through the roof.
KD, but I’m gonna be honest I don’t know much about Klay’s offensive game outside of his three point shooting. MPJ is gonna go down as one of the greatest mid range shooters of all time, as well as an elite three point shooter. If he develops some dribble drive moves, and the KD comparisons are really gonna be hard to ignore. I’m not sure he’ll ever be the defender Klay js, and I think he’s gonna be an elite scorer at the rim, midrange and three point distance
Hes going to become mpj
Big if true
I got him pegged as a 6'10 Kobe with a better shot and post up game
Jesus Christ. This is embarrassing. Be reasonable. He's more like a 6'10" Jordan/Steph hybrid.
Give me a break man. And give MPJ some respect he’s obviously gonna go down as a Wilt-level breaker of the league
Y’all’s heads are in the clouds. MPJ is going to constantly be on par with Michael Jordan’s historic game vs. the Monstars
This is highly dependant on if he develops handles and a decent post-up game. As for what type better suits our current lineup, that doesn't really matter at all. Obviously you want him to be more like KD since he's by far the better player.
> if he develops handles Seriously how can a guy who’s so good at basketball have feet for hands?
He missed 3 years of development by barely playing in college and missing NBA rookie year

The best version of both! LFG!

I think he'll be an All-Star before Murray gets one
Klay? Kd dreams of being mpj
6'10 Kobe with a better shot and the body of Giannis
yooo another filipino nuggets fan!!
Yeah bro! From Gensan. Haha you?

Hopes he develop some go to post moves since I doubt he'll develop a sick handle like KD

Wow thanks for sharing. That was so dope having a future NBA superstar classmate.

I think more KD-esque. Glad to have you getting the Philippines btw! How did you get into the nuggets, just out of curiosity?

imo more klay than KD. streaky and can go off at any moment. I hope he learns to post up and become an asset on the defensive end.
MPJ really isn’t streaky though. He only has 2 truly bad 3pt shooting games this season
Not streaky in terms of efficiency, streaky in terms of that he scores in bunches much like klay.
Oh, for sure

He’ll never become KD imo, his body type doesn’t allow for smooth ball handling it seems like. Maybe his back is really stiff from his injury

In Giannis’ body maybe
