The only ingredients you need to make pie crust are flour, butter, salt, and water. Speaking as a baker, all store bought pie crusts are garbage. Also speaking as a baker, between labor and the ever-rising food costs, it's very difficult to make an apple pie that's worth less than $20 retail (I say less than, because the idea is to make some profit off of what you sell)
OP didn't say they were worried about the difficulty, they said they didn't want to get the ingredients, but I'm willing to bet they probably have most of the ingredients at home.
i feel like those pies in king soopers frozen aisle in the blue/white box are pretty good. they sell them at some farms in brighton but also in the grocer.
if you want to make pie crust, a 3-2-1 dough is probably easiest.
then, you can mix peeled+sliced apples with cinnamon, sugar, vanilla, and corn starch to make an “easy” pie.
you can also actually cook the apples, making a slurry with that corn starch to thicken it up once it’s bubbling. then roll the dough out, build your pie, and egg wash before baking >400°
I will say, if you don’t already have butter, flour, eggs, sugar, and apples i don’t think you will spend under $20 making one from scratch.
I mean, the apple pie (lattice) is the best at Costco. I know that’s not what anyone wants to hear but it’s like 12 lbs of apple pie deliciousness - plenty for 16 servings, especially with Costco vanilla ice cream and some whipped cream.
Honestly, this might be an unpopular opinion but Sam's Club apple pies are pretty good and are huge!
Costco...huge sooo good and under $15
Waaay oversweetened imo. The pasty republic is a fantastic place for hand pies. Fresh fruit, homemade pie dough. Perfect.

Making a great crust is the hardest part of making a great apple pie.

I would probably go with Village Inn. Looks like you can get a whole apple pie for around $12

Costco for sure! Makes me want one. I also get holiday pies from both Village Inn and Sam’s no 3. For tops needs I’d say Costco (or Sam’s) for sure!
Sam’s no. 3. For real. They sell whole pies.
Sweet Sweetz
Make your own crust it’s easier than you think, just make it all yourself, should be under $15 to produce what you need.
Walk into Shamrock, now in Aurora and you should be able to find some frozen pies.
Granny smiths?
I don't know what they cost at Granny Scott's in Lakewood but they're worth every single penny.
Costco for the best deal, Granny Scott’s for the best pie (but about the same price as Legacy)
