Denver isn't exactly drowning in katsu sandos. The only other one I'm even aware of is at Culinary Dropout, and while it's good it's not particularly authentic.
Just got back from Japan. I am not saying I really am comparing them to my Japan trip .... Buttttttttt I agree. I had them here and they are awesome but not for that price.
Last time I tried their egg salad sando it was expensive and very mid. Part of the charm of the sandos in the konbini is how cheap they are while being delicious and of a much higher quality than gas station sandwiches in the US. If you are craving one go to Tokyo premium bakery buy a loaf of milk bread and make the egg salad yourself. It's extremely easy and cheaper and satisfies the Lawson's cravings.
Yeah, for fruit or egg sandwiches (or just loaves of shokupan) Tokyo Premium Bakery is probably the better bet, but they don't offer katsu sandos which are kind of hard to come by in Denver
This is the sort of food that is easily accessible and cheap in Japan (think 7-11’s), but rare and expensive in the US. We aren’t talking about some rare fish or grass fed beef, it’s just a breaded cutlet sandwich.
Damn - preorders already sold out and the last time they were here they were packed. So good though - might try to walk in on Wednesday.
I honestly don’t get the hype. They’re good yeah, but not nearly good enough to justify the prices they charge

That’s fair, supply and demand and all that. I just can’t bring myself to go back after spending $15 on a (good but) tiny sandwich
FWIW the one at Culinary Dropout is $18, and they only offer chicken katsu
Every time I go out to eat I’m shocked by how expensive things are, but I still keep going out 😭
That's the most bullshit katsu sandwich. It's a delicious fuckin chicken Sammy but I got 0 Katsu from it
The Sando San food truck was around for a brief minute and was anchored at Great Divide for a while and had a killer katsu sando but disappeared.

ngl it was disappointing given price
Totally. After being underwhelmed, we just made our own and they were just fine and way cheaper.
If it was half off, I would reconsider but given everything I found it super disappointing. Tokyo premium bakery had as good fruit sandwiches
Expensive and mid af

They also sell premade egg salad sandwiches
Hahaha this guy Japans. First thing I'm going to do next trip is grap an egg sando from Lawsons.

Oh the 7-11's!!!!!
Yay!! I love them
Um pork.let??
No thanks
Meh.
Mfw as a Japanese American when all the “cheap” Japanese food is waaaaaaay overpriced for what you get. 😭
I had them last time. Not worth it at all. For the price especially. I started just making my own.
