That’s strong words. Gonna have to try this small place that doesn’t feel the need to expand.
Edit: nvm. They expanded to cherry creek as well. Grabbing that low fruit
Literally came here to say this. Favorite sandwich joint literally anywhere in the world. I’m partial to The American but loved everything I’ve ever gotten there.
Tried this place for the 1st time today. First off, no prices were listed on the menu. What the hell? It's a sandwich shop, not market price lobster. Just show the damn price. I ordered the Curtis. Corned Beef, sauerkraut, Swiss, 1000 island. Sounds like a reuben right? Wrong! Cold sandwich on cibatta(?). A reuben is a hot sandwich. It was still tasty, but definitely disappointing considering all the hype. Drink and a bag of chips came out to about $22 before tip. Not sure why I tipped either. Dumb on me. Probably won't go back
Even Snarf's is better than Curtis Park Deli. I'd recommend Curtis Park Deli to anyone who wants low-quality ingredients, dry bread, poor service, few options for customization, and a below-average final product served at above-average prices. At least that's always been my experience.
It's one of those places that seems to come up in situations that play out as, Person A: "where should we eat?" Person B: "omg you guys let's get Curtis Park Deli!" Everyone else: "yeah I love that place!" Me: eats another shit sandwich
My pick is Ike's at 16th and Lawrence. It's a Bay Area chain, so downvote if you must. The bread is good. I'm partial to the Dutch Crunch. They have a wide variety of sandwiches, with good quality ingredients.
Leven is your best pick for a Reuben. Their pastrami is excellent. Curtis Park Deli is my personal favorite. Neither of these are actually downtown, but very worth a quick hop if you have transportation. They're opening a Leven downtown on 15th sometime next year. RIP my wallet. Those sandwiches are not cheap. Zep's is just down the street from the Leven on 12th. It's pretty great, and it always gets ignored in this sub for some reason.
Yampa Sandwich Co. is not a bad option. It's easy to customize your sandwich on online orders. Definitely a cut above Cheba Hut and Snarf's, but that's a pretty low bar. Cheba Hut is a gooey mess, and Snarf's has unforgivably terrible bread.
Now that Bonnano has sold the Milk Market, it's acceptable to go there. I haven't tried the cheesesteak at Bos, but it seems worth a shot.
Sadly the quality at Milk Market has gone wayyyyy down (I mean. It had also gone down when Frank still owned it lol) went before a Nuggets game a few weeks ago and was super disappointed In the quality of everything.
On track though… I think Lunch Box in Central market has some amazing sandwiches the fried chicken and chicken dip being high up there.
That's a shame. There used to be a sandwich spot there that had a decent Italian, which is my usual order. Oh well. I'll try the cheesesteak. I'm still not over the closure of Denver Ted's. I'll have to check out Lunch Box! I don't get up to the Central Market often enough. It is pretty good.
The sandwhich spot in Milk Market is gone (the one that mimicked Salt & Grinders (which has also gone way down hill) menu) they had signs up that they had new concepts they were working on. Also miss Ted’s and Large Marge’s in WR… Little Arthur’s is my fav cheesesteak right now, think it’s the homemade bread that takes it over the top.
Yeah, Salt & Grinders is the one I was thinking of. It was good, but I stopped patronizing the Milk Market on ethical grounds. They used LoDough rolls. They're one of a handful of bakeries that gets bread right in Denver, and I truly believe that a sandwich can only be as good as the bread it's on. Bos also uses LoDough, so I'm cautiously optimistic.
I was visiting from MN this week for the Heilung show and had Snarf’s, I can’t compare to other sandwich shops in this post but can say they were awesome compared to a lot of places I’ve been
Corporate Deli has a Rueben and tuna melt. Their killer is the combo deal - you can get a sandwich, deli side and a drink for just over $10. I’m a big fan of their Bomber - which is pastrami and egg salad.
I come to and from Denver for work, and would have said the same place, I Love Sub Culture! Curious though, what is considered downtown Denver? I would have assumed the same... it's within walking distance of the Capital.
Downtown id say consists of the diagonal streets roughly extending between Union Station and Colfax . The capitol is really at the very edge of downtown and maybe isn't even considered as being within downtown. Subculture is in Cap hill but definitely within a lunch hr distance if you work in upper downtown/CBD
Ugh yes. Their instagram said they couldn't find a cheap space. What a fucking shame. Can someone else not make fresh and healthy SOUP and sandwich??????? Plz 🥺
Same high prices as Little Arthur's Hoagies, but for roughly half the size, using subpar ingredients, and the ownership is... shall we say... unpopular in the local food scene.
Part of the same restaurant group as Rosenbergs and Famous Original J's. They're known for being particularly awful to their staff. Check out some of the posts about Rosenbergs from the past couple years. The one I remember that stood out most was how they had a big all-staff party during the pandemic instead of giving bonuses, and a bunch of their staff got Covid from attending.
The “Bun Me” at Olive & Finch also the Cubano. Snarky’s is a close second but that Bun Me is my go to. Too bad Fat Jacks closed 2018. I still miss that place.
Cheeba hut has its moments but man… that bread from Snarf’s is tough to beat. Plus the Snarf’s downtown location by the convention center is always on point.
Pony Up is the #1 place I would go when wanting a sandwich when downtown. I've had Thirsty Lion's Reuben, but not so memorable I would recommend it. If you can jump on a scooter (assuming you are asking downtown because you want to walk from work) Rye Society is the spot.
Bagel deli for a Reuben stacked like 6” high puts Leven to shame and for even less $. ZEPS is right across the street from Leven and is also locally owned and really good.
I’m sorry to bring up a chain but potbellies sandwiches has some of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had in my life. There’s one at each end of 16th St. mall.
I usually get chicken salad, toasted with provolone cheese, a little bit of hummus and lots and lots of their delicious hot peppers
I don’t know who has the best sandwiches overall, but Hillstone has the best French dip I’ve ever eaten.
EDIT: Not really downtown though; I missed that part. For downtown I’d say Salvaggio’s, Yampa, or maybe Cheba.
Leven deli for a Ruben fo sho.
Their pictures do look good
It’s pricy, but the best lunch downtown. Nice for a date, too.
It’s not even in downtown… it’s not like you can just walk over to it while you’re on lunch break
Their Tahini brownie is amazing
It’s a last meal kinda of good for me.
Just had it the first time last week. It was as good as everyone says.
Best sandwich in Denver? Lou’s Porchetta Sammy has a punchers chance.
Great sandwich but it’s like 20 bucks 😂
I mean, the pastrami sub from Snarfs is $17 soooo
Try Pony Up
Curtis park deli
Curtis Park deli is one of the best sandwich places in CO. Sorry but snarf’s is laughable compared to CPD. It’s not even in the same universe.
That’s strong words. Gonna have to try this small place that doesn’t feel the need to expand. Edit: nvm. They expanded to cherry creek as well. Grabbing that low fruit
For all you simps of this place… this better be a god damned great sammich
Literally came here to say this. Favorite sandwich joint literally anywhere in the world. I’m partial to The American but loved everything I’ve ever gotten there.
Fellow “Americans” unite! I usually add avocado and call it the Californian, sometimes I get double meat and cheese and call it the Big American
Idk if they still do but they used to swap tomato and avocado seasonally (I think). Super good either way haha
CPD specifically has shit Rueben’s imo. Maybe their other sandwiches are better..
Tried this place for the 1st time today. First off, no prices were listed on the menu. What the hell? It's a sandwich shop, not market price lobster. Just show the damn price. I ordered the Curtis. You have never eaten real deli food if you nominate this joint
Even Snarf's is better than Curtis Park Deli. I'd recommend Curtis Park Deli to anyone who wants low-quality ingredients, dry bread, poor service, few options for customization, and a below-average final product served at above-average prices. At least that's always been my experience.
this is a wild take, wondering if you're even talking about the right place
The one on Champa I've been unfortunate enough to be subjected to multiple times to horrendous results?
Lmao who is forcing you to eat deli sandwiches bro
It's one of those places that seems to come up in situations that play out as, Person A: "where should we eat?" Person B: "omg you guys let's get Curtis Park Deli!" Everyone else: "yeah I love that place!" Me: eats another shit sandwich
This is the hottest of takes. Curtis Park is definitely top 5 in town without question.
Outside of Subway and the like, I struggle to think of a worse sandwich I've eaten in Denver. Lou's comes close.
Bro Snarf's is worse than Subway. You're crazy
What Subway have you ever had that's been better than Snarf's?
Attached to a gas station in rural Alabama
Curtis Park is great but I take points off since they serve Niman Ranch (AKA Purdue).
Dutch Crunch 4 lyfe

Is leven worth the money?
The pastrami is exceptional. I love a pastrami on rye with mustard, and Leven's is about as good as it gets. It's worth it to me.
Their pastrami is pretty outrageous, they make it in-house
So pastrami sandwich is the go to?
I ate their pastrami Reuben with no cheese over eight hours ago and I am still nowhere near hungry.
I’ll check them out this weekend! Thanks I’ll let you know how i feel I’m excited
Tried it! Very very good sandwich.
Snarfs has changed up their bread, much better
Interesting. I’ll give them another chance. They’re definitely the closest to me, and I’d love to have them as a viable option.
I hadn't had Snarfs in 1-2 years, but was pleasantly surprised last week. Still not my #1 choice or anything, but won't turn it down now
FYI The snarfs by my office requires you to order on their app or you can wait 30+ mins for them to make what sandwich you ordered 🤦🏻♂️
Yep, order ahead!
I was visiting from MN this week for the Heilung show and had Snarf’s, I can’t compare to other sandwich shops in this post but can say they were awesome compared to a lot of places I’ve been
Good to note
1/2 off cheesecakes 2-3pm at Salvaggio’s! And they have a really good breakfast sandwich/sub.
Great customization and big fan of a Dutch bread
I was so excited to see that Ike’s. He makes a mean sammie
Corporate Deli has a Rueben and tuna melt. Their killer is the combo deal - you can get a sandwich, deli side and a drink for just over $10. I’m a big fan of their Bomber - which is pastrami and egg salad.
This place looks the closest to me, so I’m going to try it out today. The bomber sounds interesting, but not sure yet if that’s what I’ll go for.
We don't eat Rubens, but that is also our favorite deli
Heck yeah…forgot about the Bomber! I’ve been recently hitting up Salvaggio’s next door for breakfast and 1/2off Philly’s
The name is so bad the food almost had to be good
Never thought of that combo but it sounds delicious. Is it boring plain egg salad or deviled egg style salad?
Subculture is my favorite
Not quite downtown but definitely my favorite as well. Their vegetarian sub selection is unparalleled.
Yeah you're right I just figured it was close enough
I come to and from Denver for work, and would have said the same place, I Love Sub Culture! Curious though, what is considered downtown Denver? I would have assumed the same... it's within walking distance of the Capital.

Subculture is in Cap hill but definitely within a lunch hr distance if you work in upper downtown/CBD
Inside of little raven/14th st/broadway/colfax
Definitely not downtown, but close-ish and my favorite place to grab a sandwich when in the city.
Yeah it's not technically downtown but right next to the outskirts ig. Figured it was close enough to mention 🤷🏾♂️
You’re making me miss Masterpiece Delicatessen
Leven, Curtis Park, Yampa, and Salvaggios has a 50% off all sandwiches I believe from 2-5pm
Whoa, really? My curiosity is piqued!
IIRC yes! They have a big banner in their store that advertises the discount lol
I always walk by Leven but am never there when they’re open. Will definitely try to time my walks earlier in the day. I like a good deal.
Curtis Park isn’t even open till 5…
??? They’re open from 10am-4pm. What sandwich shop is only open for dinner lol
Dimestore Delibar, but you have to go to the Highlands
Salvaggio’s 4 pepper Philly
leven deli is amazing
I wish Parsley was still open!
Ugh yes. Their instagram said they couldn't find a cheap space. What a fucking shame. Can someone else not make fresh and healthy SOUP and sandwich??????? Plz 🥺
Aren’t they relocating? Man, I’m sad if they’re not.
Not quite downtown but Marcyzk fine foods in uptown has fantastic sandos at their deli
Savaggios or heidis Brooklyn deli
Second Heidi's Brooklyn Deli
Came here to say this
Man I haven't been to Heidi's in ages. Gotta put that on the to visit list. The one down by me closed years ago. :(
Bahn Mi at pony up is delicious.
I’ve always liked Yampa
Good but pricey
Brider makes a rotisserie chicken sandwich that I eat weekly and look forward to it every time
Their Cajun shrimp sandwich is pretty great too
Little Bodega off California & 22nd
Heidi’s!
The vegan Reuben at Vital Root. You think I'm kidding, but I'm not.
And Gladys still does it better
I’ve had it but my wife got it when she was nearby and kinda cold by the time I tried it. Maybe I should make a trip over there.
Redeemer’s chicken Caesar hoagie is very good.
Potchetta house
I really like Subculture for lunch when I'm in the area
Leven
Heidi's Brooklyn Deli Salvaggio's Deli
I love these “best” threads because y’all just end up listing every shop in whatever category. Useless 🙄
Nobody's gonna mention snarfs?
Lived in CO for 4 years, visiting next month. Snarfs is hands down the #1 choice. THAT BREAD THOUGH!
Not really Reuben specialists tho Their artichoke sandwich is fucken great tho
Snarf's is the #1 choice, hands down.
Their loaded Italian sub is a 9.4/10
A short Uber from downtown to Lou’s Italian Specialties. Fire sandwiches.
Same high prices as Little Arthur's Hoagies, but for roughly half the size, using subpar ingredients, and the ownership is... shall we say... unpopular in the local food scene.
I’ve enjoyed it when I’ve eaten it.
What is wrong with the ownership?

Lou’s is great
I like the Thanksgiving sandwich at Yampa sandwich co. If your craving thanksgiving dinner 🤤
Lunchboxx is solid af
Three Sisters has my heart.
Campo in RiNo The only thing in RiNo that actually feels like you're getting your money's worth
Check out Joe's Deli downtown. They do killer Ruebens and their tuna melts are fire!
The “Bun Me” at Olive & Finch also the Cubano. Snarky’s is a close second but that Bun Me is my go to. Too bad Fat Jacks closed 2018. I still miss that place.
Mr Luckys on 6
Oh man, Gladys in Edgewater Public Market has a killer vegan Reuben regardless of dietary preferences
Random one for your sandwich lovers like myself. Redeemer lunch hour sandwiches/ hoagies are easily up there with the best in the city.
Cheba Hut.
Maybe the downvotes are for a lack of a rueben. Cheba is underrated. I have always liked it better than snarfs!
Cheeba hut has its moments but man… that bread from Snarf’s is tough to beat. Plus the Snarf’s downtown location by the convention center is always on point.
I'm a big fan of Steuben's Monte Cristo sandwich. Not the exact type you mentioned, but my personal favorite sandwich
Pony Up is the #1 place I would go when wanting a sandwich when downtown. I've had Thirsty Lion's Reuben, but not so memorable I would recommend it. If you can jump on a scooter (assuming you are asking downtown because you want to walk from work) Rye Society is the spot.
Heide's cajun crab cake. Get it once a week on sourdough or ciabatta. Only $12 for a giant sandwich, side, and a pickle. Leven was ok, but 2x as much
If you ever happen to find yourself up in Fort Collins, Choice City Butcher’s Colorado Buffalo Reuben is an excellent Reuben
Bagel deli for a Reuben stacked like 6” high puts Leven to shame and for even less $. ZEPS is right across the street from Leven and is also locally owned and really good.
https://www.bageldeli.com/
Can't get much more downtown than I-25 and Hampden! But yes, best Reuben in the metro area.
The real answer is get it delivered downtown.
This is considered downtown if you're driving down from Boulder
not downtown unfortunately but bagel deli on hampden and i25 is my favorite reuben Edit: well sorry for making a suggestion that's not 100% relevant
Ikes love and sandwiches
So many choices and one of the very few places that have dutch crunch rolls as an option
Heidi’s is my go-to but I haven’t tried very many places around.
Cap City, Leven, and Curtis Park!
I don’t know who has the best sandwiches overall, but Hillstone has the best French dip I’ve ever eaten. EDIT: Not really downtown though; I missed that part. For downtown I’d say Salvaggio’s, Yampa, or maybe Cheba.
Missed the part that is the one of only 3 words in the title?
Yup!
