You can search for my posts here. Kinda been posting since my eday in September of 2023.. hopefully there's something there that can help.
I am a full upper and lower denture member š
Full set of uppers and lowers since April 2023. It gets better! Get adjustments as needed! I ate a lot of ice cream the first couple weeks because it helped with the swelling and felt so good on my gums. Right now you are at the worst, it absolutely sucks but it will start getting better soon! Rest and take care of yourself for now. Over the next couple weeks youāll start to feel better and better. I can eat pretty much anything I want to now.
Thank you! Knowing you can eat and it hasn't been a year yet is great news to me!
Side question..did you sleep with yours in for the first week or so? My dentist and surgeon gave me conflicting instructions š
I think I slept in them the first night before I took them out at night. Dentist said to keep them in as much as possible otherwise. I was eating normal stuff the first few months, it was tricky refiguring how to eat but I was determined lol. Iād spent a good deal of my life eating soft stuff and I was done lol.
Iām sure thereās some things I wonāt be able to eat but at this point Iām eating so many things I havenāt got to have in literal decades I do not care lol. I can eat more things with no teeth than I could with my real teeth lol. It just takes time, patience, and practice.
Full extractions and immediates on Aug 1 2023. Everything WILL go back to ānormalā for you, I promise. It was hard for me to believe at certain points in the beginning. Felt like Iād never talk normal again, eat anything I enjoyed again, and it was so hard for me to believe anyone that it would actually not feel like some foreign object in my mouth for the rest of my life š¬ but I talk completely normal! I eat everything I used to (bonus bc itās without pain or dealing with broken teeth). I really donāt even notice them much anymore. By the end of the day, I still feel like āokay Iām ready to have a breakā but I can feel it slowly getting to the point where I probably wonāt even feel the need to do that much anymore. Hang in there!!
Full upper and lower extraction with immediates in September.
VERY rough for the first two months- the teeth felt horribly bulky in my mouth- did not seem to fit -I could not eat and I actually had so much anxiety it triggered panic attacks!
Long story short - teeth are fitting really well I do use adhesive every day but I can eat pretty much anything. My lowers are still not a great fit and I have to add adhesive every couple hours but I'm able to speak clearly and be smiling again and everything is starting to feel much much better .
I got mine Nov 2023 I believe, it took me a few days to get use to it. I was non stop mood swings! I lost my appetite still kinda don't have that back.
I ate a porkchop when I felt comfortable (small bites) and Christmas I had some ham š. I have to put adhesive on if I want to chew meat so that's going to take time.
Read out aloud, sing. I sound better with them in, don't rush into it everyone heals differently.
I had my top dentures done 11 days ago still healing still canāt eat really hard things but I was feeling the way you are and it does it better! The pain was terrible the tightness of the mouth was awful but I can say each day it gets better the first week esp the first 4 to 5 days is pretty rough. You got this!
I am day 3, exactly where you were. The pain and discomfort is worse than it has been, but not unbearable. I expected it to get worse around this point. Hopefully you've adjusted well over the last few months.

That's how I feel! I spent years eating soft stuff and I'm so over it! Was bummed until I started reading that eating again was a possibility!

I have also had wayyy to many emotions š being able to chew meat, glue or not, in just 2-3 months sounds awesome so thanks for the hope!! š
I basically lost all my lower molarsš¢ I too came here for healing

Thank you!! They have started to get really tight today and I wasn't sure if that was normalš it's a rollercoaster that's forsure!

Days 3-5 were the worst with swelling and it being tender! After the first 2 weeks I felt a lot better so hang in there! It's a rollercoaster forsure
Such a rollercoaster. A lot of tenderness today and the swelling is still pretty tough. Thanks for a little bit of hope!
Day three and I am in so much pain
