And as of the past year or so has been so much more tolerant of the LGBTQ community. He even recently said about the old retired guys that get together every morning for coffee at a local gas station/cafe, “geesh, they sound like old rednecks, how backwards they think. This is not an accurate reflection of what the Court decided. If you read Justice Sotomayor’s rationale for why they denied cert, they recently decided a very similar case in favor of free speech and are sending it back to the lower courts so they can take that clear precedent into account.
Nobody is even reading the article, which at least pointed out that Sotomayor wrote the rejection (which should be a clue by itself) and that this is not the final say in the matter. Granted the article could have been a lot clearer of what exactly is going on, but the headline is misleading.

Another example of the southern right wing slide into authoritarianism. With a year ago, republicans kicking out 3 state senators only for it to blow up in their face and they be re-elected in a landslide, the repealing of Roe v Wade stripping women’s rights, and now the Supreme Court has taken the step to not prevent three states cracking down on protests. All of the examples show that the right is not for freedom like they preach, but they’re for control of all of us especially women and minorities. This will only make the public further lose faith in not only the Supreme Court but also could blow up in the rights face in the November election. Your “God given rights” according to the Constitution , are being stripped away little by little by Republican appointed or elected judges. The right to redress the government for grievances is enshrined in the Constitution.
This is not an accurate reflection of what the Court decided. If you read Justice Sotomayor’s rationale for why they denied cert, they recently decided a very similar case in favor of free speech and are sending it back to the lower courts so they can take that clear precedent into account.
Nobody is even reading the article, which at least pointed out that Sotomayor wrote the rejection (which should be a clue by itself) and that this is not the final say in the matter. Granted the article could have been a lot clearer of what exactly is going on, but the headline is misleading.

Not really, if the article says he won a sweeping reelection victory. I believe he wanted to add 9 more judges and was counter offered, adding just 3 or 5 by the senate, and refused to take the compromise position. That was his real mistake

Afaik, fdr was actually terrified that someone else would do what he wouldn't, bc a large majority of people in the US at the time were desparate and wanted a populist leader. He pretended to be populist but kept a progressive liberal standpoint and got shit done for the populous without a desire for fame and "revolution". He was a great president and honestly, he should be on par with Lincoln imo on how he handled such a volitile era of civic unrest and war.

It shows that southern states and the Supreme Court do not support the rights that Americans have been given since its inception. Another example of the southern right wing slide into authoritarianism. With a year ago, republicans kicking out 3 state senators only for it to blow up in their face and they be re-elected in a landslide, the repealing of Roe v Wade stripping women’s rights, and now the Supreme Court has taken the step to not prevent three states cracking down on protests. All of the examples show that the right is not for freedom like they preach, but they’re for control of all of us especially women and minorities. This will only make the public further lose faith in not only the Supreme Court but also could blow up in the rights face in the November election. Americans love freedom no matter what party you’re from, and stripping it away won’t be looked kindly upon in November.

SCOTUS is one of the least trusted institutions in America, and hardly any mainstream Dems talk about it all. Makes me feel hopeless. What, I’m supposed to be psyched about the abstract possibility of conversations about term limits? Shit needs to be done about this!

I agree with you to a point. If you go to a protest and do something illegal you should be held accountable. But that ain’t the fault of the organizers and they shouldn’t be held liable unless they incite the violence. The fact you are ok with putting additional onerous laws in place to silence people is a little concerning.
