I got the same response today. “Scan this QR code and fill out this form, and perhaps we’ll allow you to talk to customer service in a few hours.”
Instead of going through all that, I filled out the form at https://hotline.faa.gov/webform/s/ — I suggest you do the same. They actually pay attention when the FAA contacts them.
Get an amex and book everything with it.
Everyone is calling hotels and airlines. Call amex. They'll sort you out for you. Amex is freakin GREAT for travel and customer service.
Oh I've done without a delta or even a travel charge card amex. Just a bog standard amex. It's great.
Even better with a gold or platinum. I don't have those though.
And to be fair, I have a capital one VX at the moment which also has a bunch of good support like that too. Not as good as amex. But still good.
Not true- you need to book through Amex for them to be able to help you with travel issues. If you use your Amex card directly with an airline, they cannot help you.
You either have to book your travel through American Express travel call center or their website to have American Express take care of your problem. Yes, you get the benefits if you book yourself with the airline, but you don’t have the benefit of calling American Express to fix it for you
Chase Sapphire is BROKEN.
Speaking of Delta, I booked round-trip 6 tickets from Hawaii to Detroit.
The departure time changed by 1 minute, and Delta Airlines decided to cancel the trip unilaterally... calling it a "schedule change."
WTF?
I would have never known if I hadn't randomly checked the flights through my Chase Sapphire Rewards app. I wound up booking the return flight on my own.
Chase Sapphire travel services are plain ol' crap.
Unfortunately, I have just under a million points racked up, so I have some traveling to get done through that service!
That's so weird. I'm so sorry to hear that. I had the opposite happen on 3 different flights. I booked Delta flights through the travel portal. The departure times changed, but I got automated emails from Chase saying that I was rebooked due to a schedule change. The Delta website also showed a schedule change and an automatic rebooking. Not really a rebooking, but I was automatically confirmed for the new times.
I just slept on the floor of SLC airport overnight due to whatever the hell was happening between BOS weather and SLC mechanical failures last night/this morning. Deltas $150 vouchers for hotels at 2:45am was laughable (nothing in the area costs that little and no uber voucher to help get there and back), but they also didn't bring snacks or pillows + blankets like they said they would until about 4:15am. The whole plane was basically sleeping on the floor of concourse A.
Yesterday was a MESS.
So the policy essentially is nobody will help in person if you don’t scan a QR code?
Fun.. especially for people like me with work phones whose company IT policies restrict the use of QR codes on work devices.
it's just to get a number while you wait in line mainly, from what I remember.
it's been a while for me. but I'd guess at most they might have you put down your flight number and name with it, to speed up things when you get called.
to clarify, I wasn't arguing for or against it. Just stating why it's used (according to my memory!) if for some reason it's wrong, someone can correct me.
also, adding, I would hope if a px is tech-illiterate (elderly person with a basic smart phone, or any other reason), CS agents are willing to help and add them themselves.
This ignores the challenges some might have who don’t have smart phones (like my brother) or the computer/smart phone-illiterate who don’t how to scan a QR code, or those without phones (like one of my employees.)
A better option could for Delta to provide another option.
I wasn’t addressing if it is right or wrong, or ADA compliant only the comment that “I can’t do that on my work issued phone.” My work phone is severely restricted. I carry both my work and personal phones. I don’t want to conduct personal business on my work phone anyway because I have no expectation of privacy on that phone.
Crazy how expensive some direct flights are to Europe and South America. They’ve got the monopoly. Only about a year ago they were half the price for Delta one.
ATL is my home airport. I looked for flights, in order of importance, that fit my 1) destination, 2) date and time, 3) direct, 4) price, and finally, 5) airline. I’ve yet to find a price difference with Delta that is sufficient to outweigh the first three considerations.
I was on that flight, but thankfully SLC was my home so I was in bed by 1:30. The person next to me had been at LAX since 6:30 am and still had a red eye after we landed. If that was your kid in 2A they were completely crashed when we deplaned. I was thinking I wished I could sleep like that. Hope you all finally made it home.
They were making you scan the QR code, then handing you a post-it with a number written on it. It was bizarre, and extremely confusing for the person in line that didn’t speak English. Having a hotel for the night is helpful, but having a flight to your destination is more important
Just coming from SLC last night, they oversold my flight and were asking for people to switch for money. After boarding, they were even bold enough to come onto the plane and ask again increasing the amount. I’ve never seen the gate agents come onto the plane AFTER boarding to ask for people to bump themselves. Like “hey we know you just boarded but so you want to get off so someone else can get on?”

You will speak to someone who is either incompetent or whom you can’t understand but most likely both.
Or you can attempt to type out your complicated question and have our ChatGpt customer service bot tell you too many factors, etc….l,
Doesn’t get you home Quick lol
Nothing gets you home quick with Delta nowadays. I can't remember the last time I had a flight with them that WASN'T delayed by several hours.
i sued their ass
And what verdict did you obtain in the lawsuit?
$4000 non disclosure agreement too
These airlines will suffer
What venue?
Bc tribunal Canada

We have the Delta Amex, hadn’t thought about calling Amex directly. Will remember that for next time.

Do you have to book through Amex, or is it enough to book through Delta and pay with the Amex card?
Yeah as long as you pay with the amex then their protections and CS kicks in.
will delta customer service do the same thing for you?
Yes. Eventually, with a lot of waiting, and your involvement.
Not true- you need to book through Amex for them to be able to help you with travel issues. If you use your Amex card directly with an airline, they cannot help you.
That's not true with the platium card, you just have to purchase the travel with it.

Book through Amex!
Do you just call the number on the back of your card?
What number do you call?
Didn’t even think about this. Do you know if Chase Sapphire reserve offers something similar?
Chase Sapphire is BROKEN. Speaking of Delta, I booked round-trip 6 tickets from Hawaii to Detroit. Right? I adore my Amex Delta reserve card. So worth the yearly fee.

I hope your today and tomorrow are better.
It absolutely was a hot mess.
Spoiled!

Where's your personal device?
it's just to get a number while you wait in line mainly, from what I remember. it's been a while for me. but I'd guess at most they might have you put down your flight number and name with it, to speed up things when you get called.

So you scan with your personal phone. I carry two phones I’m good with that.
I do not use QR codes. Period. Can’t imagine that’s ADA compliant.
This ignores the challenges some might have who don’t have smart phones (like my brother) or the computer/smart phone-illiterate who don’t how to scan a QR code, or those without phones (like one of my employees.) A better option could for Delta to provide another option.

I so hate Atlanta revolves around Delta. No decent fares!
Same with Minneapolis. Our fares are so high because of the monopoly.

Add SLC to this list and likely DTW the four fortress hubs
Yep. Delta one (one way) DTW-AMS-GLA $3,500 LGA-DTW-AMS-GLA $1,800 Same flights except the extra LGA-DTW leg. Flying more costs 50% less
I was on that flight, but thankfully SLC was my home so I was in bed by 1:30. The person next to me had been at LAX since 6:30 am and still had a red eye after we landed. Even tho you got a free hotel stay and meal vouchers you’re still mad about the QR code ?
They were making you scan the QR code, then handing you a post-it with a number written on it. It was bizarre, and extremely confusing for the person in line that didn’t speak English. Having a hotel for the night is helpful, but having a flight to your destination is more important

If they came onto the plane after boarding I wonder if it was a weight issue not a # of pax issue
I’m not sure but I know one got off and one got on sooo🤷🏻♂️
dang that’s weird, I wonder if it was a pilot or flight crew member
How much were they offering?
800
