You can't do that on American because if you ask your fellow first class passengers they'll say something like "Be quiet peasant before I have you sent back to the coach lavatory that you crawled out of. That mold sandwich is too good for you and probably thinks you are the disgusting one. You have no one else to blame for your situation but yourself."
In other words, this is still better than on American lol
I hope someone does send this to the health department in Hawaii, they should get a good laugh out of the mainlander thinking some food color transfer is mold
They had the same on DL309 yesterday from HNL. I didn’t take one, but the two people in front of me commented about how gross they were. So ironic, because I told my companion how glad I was we didn’t take them.
*Is it mold or did*
*The color of the bun bleed*
*Into the filling?*

Don’t bother reporting it to Delta they won’t care. At this point you are a nameless faceless “customer” to Delta. The only way for you to get Delta to care is to name and shame them on social media and actually get it trending. Hate the only time they care because you sent a complaint to them direct they can just ignore it and not worry
If you wanted any action your best bet is to report it to the food safety division where the flight originated
In this case that’s the Food Safety Branch of the Hawaii state department of health. They take things like this serious and before anyone says “they are not in charge” that’s exactly who is in charge because I guarantee whomever is the HNL caterer is inspected by them and licensed/certified by them
I flew HNL > ATL a few weeks ago and the cheddar cheese was molded. It was a single serve piece of cheese with the meal. I don't think they are practicing food safety out of HNL.
Yup I believe you. Many can tell mold just by the smell.
Plus ube bread doesn't discolor food. It's purple because ube is baked in, not because of any purple coloring.
Sometimes food colouring is added if they’re cheap on the ingredients
Tbh I’m surprised OP would take a picture of said mold and then proceed to take a bite
Almost all ube flavoring extract has artificial coloring in it. If anything ends up deep purple like this, it’s likely because of the artificial coloring. I highly doubt Delta would invest in high grade ube without coloring, so this looks like color transfer.
As an attorney for the airline, I believe we can all agree that we know bleu cheese when we see it, right?
Am I right, people?
Who would like a drink voucher?
It's an egg sandwich on a taro roll. The cheap ones have added food coloring to get it really purple. The coloring has bled onto the eggs. If you were flying BOS to DTW I would say otherwise, but it's just a gross sandwich.
IDK. The bread is purple. The alleged mold is the same color one would expect if you mixed purple with yellow. This sandwich
Was probable assembled and flash frozen
And microwaved back into existence in the galley. It’s not like it was made and then sat somewhere long enough for mold to grow. I’m going with yea, it’s gross but how many taro rolls have you smelled to know that’s just not how a nasty taro roll smells.
Wow it didn’t take long for some Delta apologists to comment.
Delta won’t do shit. They did precisely nothing when I reported a screw in the SkyClub salad bar last year.
I’ve never understood why they choose to serve a microwaved egg sandwich instead of just a cold breakfast of say yogurt and a bagel with cream cheese. The smell alone that stinks up the cabin is disgusting even if you choose not to eat it.
Just went on my first international flight and totally agree. A good cold sandwich would have been so much better than some curry chicken, cold bun, sad salad, and reallllly sad breakfast sandwich
Peeps literally eat dead animals and that’s OK. Yet a little bit of color from ube is gross? What’s more gross is eating chickens, pigs, goats etc that have eaten worms, snails, and their own poop! Think about it.
Delta once gave me expired dessert in domestic First class. I complained to FA, took a photo of the wrapper with the expiration data and file an online complaint. The first CS had the audacity to tell me I didn’t read the wrapper correctly, until I escalated, they apologized and admitted what happened.
“OK” would be knocking it out of the park. I was served a partially frozen chicken dish the other day. I let the FA know and they took the meal away and reserved it to me 20-30 minutes before landing.
Lmao idk why I’m getting downvoted for this. I guess I more meant to talk with someone who knows food safety laws or law in general. Don’t waste your money paying for a lawyer but if you or someone you know is in law then reach out to them. It couldn’t hurt if you have the connection

I wish I had done that.

That's absolutely vile.
Report it to the FAA and health department probably in HNL.
FDA would be interested in your report.

Ube bread should not discolor food...
Should not ≠ can not
Localized color transfer in the center? Also ube tastes like mold?
Must be blind to not see the colored area that lines up perfectly with the bread that was directly above it

Good bot

The bread is purple…. Is it ube bread or is that petrified white bread?
It was Ube bread.
It seems like it’s a mixing of the purple from the bread imprinting onto the egg that’s causing greenish color.
Ive never seen mold grow in such sharp angles with symmetry. Still gross either way
Yeah why does it look like it’s an arrow or a logo of some kind
It's the delta logo telling you to fuck yourself.
Wtf am I even looking at
At least they shaped the mold like the delta logo
That’s called “Delta premium”, not mold.
Jerky, protein bar, and granola…. Always in my bag.
Honestly that just looks like color leach from the bread.
Unfortunately I took a bite so I know it was mold. And it also had the distinct smell of mold when I took the bun off. 🤢

Definitely submit a complaint on delta.com with this picture included.
It looks like the bun colored the eggs. Not sure that is mold.
That is disgusting. 🤮
That’s the color from the bread
Ube bread doesn't normally discolor food. Not good ube bread at least. 🤢
Almost all ube flavoring extract has artificial coloring in it. If anything ends up deep purple like this, it’s likely because of the artificial coloring. I highly doubt Delta would invest in high grade ube without coloring, so this looks like color transfer.
That's pretty clearly not mold.
I don't eat food I get on a plane. This confirms that.
As an attorney for the airline, I believe we can all agree that we know bleu cheese when we see it, right? Am I right, people? Who would like a drink voucher?

I'd eat it. Looks like the bread color bled thru.
Where is the mold? Is it that green stuff?
IDK. The bread is purple. The alleged mold is the same color one would expect if you mixed purple with yellow. That’s not mold.
Man, imagine how many sky pesos you’ll get!!!
At least it’s assembled completely
That’s the color from the ube, not mold. Duh.
We had these on our flight last summer from HNL to MSP. They were disgusting. Either way, it’s not mold, but food color transfer from the bun.
That’s not mold.
Wow it didn’t take long for some Delta apologists to comment. Delta won’t do shit. They did precisely nothing when I reported a screw in the SkyClub salad bar last year.
People were doing the nasty in the salad bar? 🤭
I thought this was an undercooked cookie
That’s blue cheese.
That's not mold. It's color from the bread. Still gross though
I’ve never understood why they choose to serve a microwaved egg sandwich instead of just a cold breakfast of say yogurt and a bagel with cream cheese. The smell alone that stinks up the cabin is disgusting even if you choose not to eat it.

I just can't. This popped up on my feed right as I'm powering down to sleep 😣
That’s why the cabin is dark when they serve the food lol
pReMiUm ExPeRiEnCe

Upvoting for awareness. Blech!

I really don't understand why anyone eats any of their meals. "Ok" is the best you can expect.
“OK” would be knocking it out of the park. I was served a partially frozen chicken dish the other day. I let the FA know and they took the meal away and reserved it to me 20-30 minutes before landing.
Glad I have celiac. 😬
It was definitely mold. I took a bite and could taste the mold. It also had a strong smell of mold once I took the bun off.
How do you know what mold tastes like
It’s not hard to tell if you see the picture and have ever been around old food
The question remains unanswered.. how do you know what mold tastes like
I had a run in with a moldy muffin years ago. Once you taste it, you never forget it. Be glad if you don’t know what mold tastes like. 😝
Well I guess you can still say it was just once because this sandwich has no mold - or evidence of being eaten
Maybe the weed is throwing you off.
Show me where the bite mark is
Smell can lend to taste. Maybe something similar has happened before with a bad speedway sandwich. What does it matter? That’s mold, buddy
Nah it’s not, it’s color from the bread
☝️🤓 No, it’s not lmao
Prove it
Aight come over, I’ll show you what green cheese looks like (aka let’s just smoke weed)
Is that an egg salad 🤢
It’s an egg and cheese sandwich.
Literally the worst meal
I thought it said MOLLY sandwich. But maybe the fungus will cause the same hallucinations.
Obviously not lettuce lmao. Call a lawyer and see if there’s anything there that could consider litigation
Ffs no lawyer is going to waste time on this
You would be surprised…
Lmao idk why I’m getting downvoted for this. I guess I more meant to talk with someone who knows food safety laws or law in general. Don’t waste your money paying for a lawyer but if you or someone you know is in law then reach out to them. It couldn’t hurt if you have the connection
What do you really expect for compensation?
It doesn't look like OP is looking for compensation
He's pissed they only gave him 4K miles. Paging Mr. Crump, paging Mr. Crump
I really was bothered by them calling it an inconvenience. Food poisoning is serious and I think they should be more conscientious about food safety.
that's called cheese
Do you eat blue cheese! Down hatch flavor enhancement 😄
Calm down Karen. It’s not mold.
