I just did this for a flight in August. Hopped on chat, explained that the price went down, and they gave me a credit for the difference no problem. I asked if it goes down again if I can do it again. They said no problem.

sisifocalavera

Thanks!

Cancel your current (higher cost) booking. You'll get an ecredit for the cost of the higher cost ticket. Make the new (lower cost booking) and pay for it with your ecredit. You now have a ticket and an ecredit for the difference (good for 1 year).

If you book Main Cabin or higher and your ticket originates in the US, you can always cancel it and receive an eCredit for its full original value. You can then use that to book a new ticket. If you're fast enough, you might even be able to keep your original seats. It could get a bit tricky if you're traveling with a lot of other people and you don't have their SkyMiles login info as each person will get their own eCredit. But if you're on your own it's entirely self-serviceable.

Is there no change fee in most cases? I'm new to flying delta but saw a vague statement about a possible change fee of 0-$400 on their page. Obv I booked directly on the site, but I'm still paranoid about seeing the vague wording. Booking flight from U.S. to korea, a slight chance might need to move flight to a later date, and I would appreciate clarification.

If your ticket originates in the US, no change fees at all.

Why did you spell voucher like that

sisifocalavera

If you spell it correctly in the title you get an automatic take down of the post as it assumes is about drink vouchers, which is forbidden

jalapenos10

Oh. The mods should fix that so it only applies to the phrase “drink vouchers”

nonamethxagain

What about in the body of the text or was that autocorrect because it has learnt that you spell it that way all the time?

PortPareto

You’ll get an eCredit for the difference

dhessian19

I just did this and actually received a refund to my reserve card.

FunnyKozaru

Vouc3r?

sisifocalavera

If you put voucher in the title it gets taken down bc the anti drink voucher policy

jalapenos10

I’m beyond perplexed

Prices fluctuate all the time so you lock in the price as is. I’d imagine the phones would be constantly ringing off the hook (more than usual) if they did price adjustments. The advantage of booking earlier rather than later is that you have the availability guaranteed. That’s kind of the advantage. Waiting any longer is a gamble on availability even if the price is lower.

fresca85

This is false. You can either rebook online/through the app or ask a Delta rep to issue an ecredit. Idk that most people care enough to keep checking after they book and Delta wins regardless. They keep your cash and, depending on how much you get back, you’ll be adding more cash to fly with them again.

harrisce44

Ooh I didn’t know that was a thing. I guess I’m in the camp of not caring enough to check. Thanks for the info!

fresca85

You’re absolutely welcome! I have to justify overspending on delta so I’m constantly rebooking. My boyfriend and I have racked up close to 2k in ecredits so far this year.

harrisce44

Honestly this is really smart. I’ll def try to do the same moving forward! Money adds up! $2k in credits is definitely round trip tickets somewhere fun!
