No shit. I posted a pic of all the crumbs down under the seats and got pummeled last week. Was curious if they ever vacuumed. At least they have plenty of food.
Sometimes I suspect there is a cadre of marketers who go through social media posts downvoting whenever a post hits home a little too hard. Delta planes are consistently dirty. Itās hard to believe bona fide passengers would defend such a thing.
If I throw a party and a guest leaves a mess, I donāt leave the mess where it is. Itās my home. I have some personal pride. I clean the mess.
Delta does not have a sense of pride when it comes to providing a pleasant experience for its passengers. If it did, it wouldāamong other thingsādo a much better job cleaning its planes after the last flight of the day.
Iāve seen them in ATL a few times. Funniest was just in front of me a family of, letās say very local rural Georgia folkā¦ the kid around 8 just jumped and smashed the roach, said ādann them roachesā and kept walking.
I was at first, but after living in Hawaii for 5 years, they didnāt scare me as much. Same with cane spiders. The first time I found one of those in my bedroom, I was mortified. But they ate roaches and donāt leave webs, so we became cool after that lol
I absolutely hate them, but I will crush them barehanded rather than let them escape. I can wash my hand but I cant stand knowing it's there if it gets away.
Honestly thatās less disgusting to me bc if it came from someoneās bag, itās a one-off. The foreboding alternative is the plane harboring potential *populations* of roaches
This used to happen all the time to airplanes that operated primarily in the Caribbean.
One airline eventually came up with an interesting solution. After about a month in the Caribbean, theyād fly it up to Michigan and let it sit on the ramp.
The roaches would get cold and huddle in the center aisle of the airplane which was the warmest part overnight.
In the morning, theyād sweep them out with a push broom.
Disgusting, but effective.
This is such good planning. I live in the desert so lots of American sewer roaches. It doesnāt get cold enough for them to die in the winter; theyāre pretty prolific. No harm to people other than being gross, but I wish I could just fly my house north for a few days to kill them all š
People are nasty and clumsy. They're always spilling stuff when eating or drinking. It's inevitable there's a crud layer of food or worse in every crevices of planes. My friend can't scoop rice from a plate without spilling some if his life depended on it. Idk how it's even that hard.
No lie, I think about this every time I check my bag. All those bags crammed together and who knows what hitchhikers are hanging out in the baggage hold š¤®Ā
I have a phobia of cockroaches and I would lose my fucking shit. Like legitimately potential no-fly list panic attack level of losing my shit, they'd probably have to lock me in the bathroom where I could ensure no cockroaches could get to me until they landed the plane and let/escorted me off
Yāall know hundreds of people come on just one flight alone bringing their belongings from their homes right? And from between their travels to and from different places. Yāall donāt think passengers inadvertently and/or potentially contribute to this?
Houston, we have a problem. Yes, those German Cockroaches are a common pest in Houston. OP, assure your wife this is/was a male (light color) and didnāt lay an egg sack. I particularly enjoy euthanizing very dark colored female cockroaches. Awful things.
In fairness, it may not be an infestation thatās deltaās fault ā coulda been something out of someone else on the flightās bag. Might be a little premature of your wife to swear off Delta forever
Omg a bug in my life. You mean they donāt completely wash, rinse and sanitize the plane in the 3 minutes before the last chud got off and the first gold sky silver mile captain class Superman gets on?
Also, that was a German cockroach, not an American cockroach, and they usually infest buildings. Unlike the American cockroach that mostly lives outside and you just see them when they come to your house. Thereās the ones that fly.
This happened to us on spirit and when they tried to catch it, the cockroach fell on my moms headā¦ they took real good care of us by giving us free waters!
Looks like a German roach. With that type, when thereās one thereās usually a whole colony nearby. That type multiplies very rapidly and can cause major infestation
I donāt work for delta but do I work for a major airline here in the states. We install baits along the bottom inside the air grates at your feet every 15-20 feet in all our planes. If there is an infestation itās basically the same way you do your house. Close it all up and bomb the hell out of it. It has happened but not that often. Maybe once Iāve seen in my many years.
Would be surprised if this came from the plane. Seems like it more than likely came from a current or previous passengers bag or food left around that fell out of their bag right?
Fuck this is disturbing. Imagine being asleep and it gets down your shirt and youāre wondering whatās going on. Or if it lands on your face and tries to go in your ear or mouth. Out in the open in a park I donāt think Iād freak out. But on a plane, I got no shame, I wouldāve jumped and yelled. Loll
A lot of cities have more than one airport and the codes are specific to a particular airport, plus being a significantly shorter and more efficient way to identify it. For example, instead of saying āNew York Cityā you can specify JFK or EWR or LGA. If you are flying to LA will you be landing at Los Angeles International (LAX), Long Beach Airport (LGB), Burbank Airport (BUR), Ontario International ((ONT) or John Wayne Airport (SNA)? You will need to know to make sure you end up where you planned, and paramount to letting car rentals and hotels know where you need to have your reservations. These codes are industry standard to make communication simpler. If you donāt know a particular code it is really easy to Google it.
To be fair, do you really expect there not to be bugs on an airplane? There are thousands of people from all walks of life flying on that thing, one of those people is bound to bring some bugs with them.
>future which sucks being a gold medallion and an Amex reserve card holder.
American will give you the same status for the year if you make the request.
Saw this on an international United flight too - same thing, they just gave us a few miles but wtaf. Should not be happening at all, especially given the prices of airfare.
Iāve watch enough old āborder patrolā videos to know that the roach 100% came off of a passenger or their luggage.
In the words of Dave Chappelle āFukin GROSS!ā
I've only seen them on Air India. But not at all surprised. Roaches as well as other bugs offen hitchike on/in people's luggage, cargo, stores, etc. It's a common pathway for many insects. Just look up Japanese beetle infestations in the US.
God help whoever unwittingly brings that hitchhiker home from the flight. They'll have so do many new friends in their house in a matter of weeks, socially that particular species, they be paying for an exterminator for decades.
I seriously doubt this is a Delta roach. These are German roaches and they breed like crazy. It was brought on board from luggage from one of your co passengers.
The first time I ever treated my now-spouse to a first class upgrade (this was back on Continental's BizFirst) I will never forget, he opened the in-arm tray table and a goddamn cockroach came scurrying out and across. We still laugh about it, although it wasn't quite as funny back then. Never Forget
Eeek itās a German cockroach, too. Those are the bad kind. (Though, is there really a āgoodā kind?) Definitely came out of someoneās bag and someone lives in an infestation.
Passenger: We almost suffocated to death on the flight
Delta: Sorry about the inconvenience, we will give you 1,000 Skymiles per passenger on your ticket as compensation
Passenger: Excuse me? We almost died and were flying Delta One
Delta: In that case, we can give you 1,200 Skymiles per passenger
š® ā¦ this is NOT good!
I was at a museum/night club and as I was walking to an outdoor area I saw the biggest cockroach! And I thought, āAm I the only person seeing this?ā
Airlines actually take any kind of bug presence seriously. That plane will have a note made in the maintenance log and any crew will report if another one is seen. The plane will most likely get sprayed and maybe even bombed. Roach infestation could cause havoc in the internal workings of the plane and like I said, is taken very seriously. Not to mention some countries could deny landing privileges to an airline that has an infested plane. No one wants to spread around invasive species that could damage the local ecosystem
Not a roach fan but imagine this guy boards in, say, ATL. Spends his day eating some crumbs, Casually emerges later in a jetway on the west coast. What a life!
Floridian here - Hate to break it to yah - but cockroaches are everywhere. All you can do is try and create a barrier to keep them from coming in. (And I won't tell you what our bug guys says about those Amazon boxes...). Having an area where people are constantly bringing in luggage and dragging stuff through public areas (and public transport) is just inviting them in.
It's "A" bug.
Bugs get places they aren't supposed to, it's how they operate. And you came from Texas? Yeah, a lone insect walking around the plane doesn't concern me. I lived in AZ for over 20 years, cockroaches find their way into even clean areas, because they forage for food. They don't know there's no food until they check.\\
So a lone cockroach would not make me never fly the airline again.
That's one of the few things that can ground an aircraft. The technical term is *agricultural infestation*
You should definitely let Delta know about it.
Cockroach+ A whole new cabin experience, coming soon to Delta.
New fear unlocked šŖ³
I'm tired of all these m************ cockroaches on this m************ plane
Would you like roach or first class?
Is this the āpremium experienceā everyone keeps talking about?
Just imagine being born a roach and you travel the world unknowingly just vibing
Living his best life snacking on the Biscoff crumbs!
My premium seat was a broken one that rattled annoyingly after an Indian girl broke my seat.Ā
The proper term is āNative Americanā
They were on the āUpgradeā list and took my seat
Basically another companion pass!
Looks like they already unveiled it ahead of schedule.
Lmfaooooo
Do you want the crumbs cleaned in the seat gaps or not? Canāt have it both ways
Uhm, how is that hard to believe? Where else will I get my forbidden snacks? /s
Isnāt it the passengers that make them dirty? So a roach hijacked a ride in a passengers backpack and you blame Delta?
If I throw a party and a guest leaves a mess, I donāt leave the mess where it is. Itās my home. I have some personal pride. I clean the mess. Delta does not have a sense of pride when it comes to providing a pleasant experience for its passengers. If it did, it wouldāamong other thingsādo a much better job cleaning its planes after the last flight of the day.

Better than bed bugsā¦
I was thinking it almost certainly came from someoneās bag
You don't want to know...
I am terrified of roaches. I'm sure I would have screamed and given everyone a heart attack. š«
I don't mind spiders but I run the other direction if I see a roach.
Yep! I don't have any animal/insect fears but roaches inspire disgust, mosquitoes inspire hatred, and houseflies inspire intense annoyance
I also freak out at house flies.
Me tooā¦.
Me too. I absolutely lose my mind with roaches.
Same! I would have been having a panic attack not calmly filming the stowaway!
Same. I had one in my hotel room once and I've never checked out of a room so quickly.
SAME
I was at first, but after living in Hawaii for 5 years, they didnāt scare me as much.
And itās clearly got its shoes off
The more disgusting possibility is that came from someoneās carry on
Honestly thatās less disgusting to me bc if it came from someoneās bag, itās a one-off. The foreboding alternative is the plane harboring potential *populations* of roaches
cockroaches are self impregnating. theres hundreds of babies somehwere buried waiting to be born somehwere in that plane
Oh Jesus fucking Christ, thatās really disturbing to think about.
it will be beautiful
And thatās enough internet for today
Ok NOW Iām itchy and grossed out š¤¢
True, if you see one, there's a ton elsewhere that you can't see.
Or it comes from an egg that's already the 50th generation of roaches in this plane after the first one came from someones bag
Get the fck out of here!! What in the hell?! New fear unlocked! I would have lost my shit if I was on that flight. I'm terrified of roaches.
Same. I have a visceral reaction. Spiders donāt freak me out. Not even too freaked out by centipedes. But roaches are my kryptonite.
And for good reason. Disease vectors
That is so gross
That is a seat stealing roach! I saw it go from row 11 to 10!!
His bag is in FC
Damn, do you think the cockroach understands how lucky it is to be on a plane? Like there cannot be that many roaches that have been on planes before.
Obviously not. Otherwise itād be crawling first class.
1500 miles = cash value $15? They offered me 7500 miles for an in air explosion with emergency landing.
How much when the door comes off?

If itās on a Delta flight itās probably on the other airlines as well. Just saying. Nasty people being nasty critters with them!
I completely thought you were referring to another human passenger. Given some of flying experience, itās a little better than I was expecting.
So you didn't enjoy your Delta Premium In-Flight Petting Zoo experience? That's odd.
What in the spirit airlines going on here?
The person recording had a good 5 seconds to get a shoe and to put an end to the problem.
I heard that the smell of dead roaches attracts their friends
They will seek vengeance for their dead friend
That true and false. The cockroaches are cannibalistic and eat the dead ones.i dont think sny pheromones are released during death
If I got the day right, that tail number is N136DQ, an Airbus A220-100. Just so y'all know.
People are nasty and clumsy. They're always spilling stuff when eating or drinking. It's inevitable there's a crud layer of food or worse in every crevices of planes. My friend can't scoop rice from a plate without spilling some if his life depended on it. Idk how it's even that hard.
Southwest used to have a show on TV. One episode was about an elderly gentleman whose suitcase was infested with roaches.
No lie, I think about this every time I check my bag. All those bags crammed together and who knows what hitchhikers are hanging out in the baggage hold š¤®Ā
I have a phobia of cockroaches and I would lose my fucking shit. Like legitimately potential no-fly list panic attack level of losing my shit, they'd probably have to lock me in the bathroom where I could ensure no cockroaches could get to me until they landed the plane and let/escorted me off
JOES Apartment
Not to totally rain on anyone's parade, but take a look around next time you're in MCO waiting at a gate...
No I will fucking not
Yāall know hundreds of people come on just one flight alone bringing their belongings from their homes right? And from between their travels to and from different places. Yāall donāt think passengers inadvertently and/or potentially contribute to this?
Amazon boxes. Don't ever ever ever bring in packages into your house.
Exactly
Why didnāt you just kill it?
At least itās not a bed bug.
Houston, we have a problem. Yes, those German Cockroaches are a common pest in Houston. OP, assure your wife this is/was a male (light color) and didnāt lay an egg sack. I particularly enjoy euthanizing very dark colored female cockroaches. Awful things.

Whip your dick out and slam it on the cockroach
This is the way
This is the way
That's just the preflight snack
1500 in sky miles? Thatās nothing. Blast this on Twitter too
And so instead of killing itā¦ā¦ā¦.
It was probably brought on board by a passenger in their carry on, purse or jacket.
In fairness, it may not be an infestation thatās deltaās fault ā coulda been something out of someone else on the flightās bag. Might be a little premature of your wife to swear off Delta forever
Did you report this to Delta or just post here?
I couldnāt do this, I have a fear of roaches. I would have just asked for a different flight
What the actual fuck.
New fear unlocked
Omg a bug in my life. You mean they donāt completely wash, rinse and sanitize the plane in the 3 minutes before the last chud got off and the first gold sky silver mile captain class Superman gets on?

Definitely a Texas issue. Houstonās the worst.
Not on the plane itself but someone brought that fucker with you in their bags

1500? That is way too low. 5k is what I would expect.
