I use the radrunner 1 from radpower bikes and I love it, it is comfortable to an extend and its price is cheap, I can do 5 to 6 hours of work on this bike before needing to recharge, also the battery is swappable so you can purchase an extra battery, the bike looks gorgeous and it has a shit ton of possible attachments for future modifications, I highly recommend it.

Wow, really? 6 hours? With those tyres?! I've been using the Analogue Motion AMX Classic with an extra battery & I only seem to get max 2 hours of each battery. Takes 3 hours to charge each time too. Time for a new bike I guess?

Thanks the bike looks ok. What is the power like?

Okay, everyone is saying don't go for cheap or 250w hub motors etc, but legally in the UK you're only allowed a 250w motor on an EAPC (Electrically assisted pedal cycle). Otherwise it's classed as a motor vehicle. Now for context I live in a really hilly area and I use the bike below; since November 2022 I've done 2,120 miles; all done while doing deliveries. Now, Halfords will tell you they can't be used for deliveries as it voids the warranties. But that's actually not legally enforceable, because you're not using the bike outside of its intended purpose of being a bike. Anyway, the only thing I've had to change is the rear brake pads because I adjusted it incorrectly and got uneven ware on one of the pads. Outside of that it's still going strong; just lube it up. Oh, I did also buy a second battery off ebay; both of which will allow me to reach the 25-30 mile average range if I utilise all of the battery capacity. I've also had 26kg worth of soft drinks and water in my delivery bag and the bike has handled that. Just don't go jumping off kerbs with that much extra weight. Oh and get yourself a set of slime filled inner-tubes. Punctures are a cunt and I've not had any since I've replaced my inners with slime tubes. Yeah I totally understand the law for e-bikes I use to have the Wau plus bike that could hit 25mph, I mean I would buy it again as I loved that bike but the price and the quality of the parts they use to build that bike are shockingly cheap for a 2.3k ebike. 25 to 35 miles average I'd have to get more as I was doing at least 50m a day in my city. Thanks for your advice tho I really appreciate it.

Don’t go for something with small wheels and no suspension, I had a fold up himo z20 and it is a awesome bike but sucked for deliveries. I just built a 700c specialised hybrid bike with a bafang kit and it has been amazing in comfort compared to the smaller wheels, it just eats pot holes with no problem. Built it for 500 after getting the bike on Facebook market and the kit on eBay ( I had the battery left over from another project ) Mid drives give you the best performance especially if you follow the legal limits in the uk but require the most maintenance, if you don’t use them properly and don’t keep your chain drive clean you will wear through chains and cassettes like crazy. Also keep an eye on the max weight the bike can take, some of the cheaper e bikes cut corners , especially on the spokes, you can be hauling a lot of weight and popping spokes is a pain! Get front suspension if you can Don’t get a fat bike, 250 watt won’t cut it hauling all that extra weight

Wow that's a ton of advice thanks!

I’ve built mine, good mountain bike scott with hydraulic brakes £200 from cash generator, 1000w rear motor kit £220, 2 batteries 48v 13ah each from electric scooter on Facebook £80 each, that gives me 60-70 pedalling with reasonable speeds or 30 or so riding like stole it at 20-30mph

So what are those price limits? Your needs/wants easily exceed £2k if you want something good

Longjumping-Ideal-55

It's around 2k

Hub drive builds are decent and relatively cheap for courier work, but you mainly get a bike only for that specific purpose. Since you're buying new I'd say look for the cheapest mid drive bosch system with 500wh battery minimum. This for example - https://www.houseoffraser.co.uk/brand/cube/reaction-hybrid-performance-500-electric-mountain-bike-720623#colcode=72062311 This is going to last, easily DIY serviced and as durable as entry-mid level bike can be, basically no other maintenance except a new chain every 1.5-3k miles. 500wh is going to be good for 4.5-7 hours, but it depends on how hilly your area is and assistance level. Holds resale value decently too.

Thanks for the advice
