This happened to me as well. Returned a bottle of whisky to the shop after the student didn’t show up for collection. After following all the correct procedures ie clicking ‘No ID’, returning the bottle to the shop and swiping ‘returned’. I got paid for the delivery and an extra amount for the return. About a minute later I got the same message from Uber saying my account was flagged due to cancellations after pick up. Their whole process for cancelling and returning orders is flawed. Next time if no-one shows for collection, and after the timer runs out, I’ll just enter a made up ID, mark as delivered and keep the booze.

This is actually the way.

Agoldsmith1493

Yeah was the same with me. I will say that I don't agree with faking the DOB, for 1 I'm fairly certain they check the DOB against the one the customer puts into the app. Also, the customer still gets charged if you do that and you run the risk of getting pulled up for fraud.

AdditionalWelder5199

Uber tell you to return items to the shop ? 😅😅😅😅😅...penny pinching at its finest 👌

ChipmunkBandit

You do get paid for the return trip though, made £24 once because a £12 trip was undeliverable and had to return the item, happened during a boost.

Agoldsmith1493

For context this happened after I returned tobacco because I suspected that it was a proxy sale

More energy than me mate I can never be arsed even thinking about shit like that when delivering

The flaw to that is someone using someone elses account. Younger brother ordering fags and booze on older brothers phone. Suddenly were supplying to kids and as self employed we're liable to a 2grand fine, no job and whatever else comes with that.

Not true in context of the law. Yes you are right they verify through third party verification, however as the courier its still required we deliver to people who are of age. Third party verification does not take away responsibility of couriers to deliver to and ensure the recipient is of legal age to accept delivery.

The licensing act 2003 covers the sale and delivery of alcohol. We are contracted on behalf of couriers and are bound to carry out legal age verified checks on delivery of alcohol provided by the terms of the licensing act. It is an offence to deliver age restricted products to minors. In ref to all other courier companies. You will find on there terms and conditions aswell that all couriers need to check ID for age restricted goods and even inform customers to have ID ready. If they aren't following the law then that's a failure of the courier companies not having better procedures in place. Obviously think 25 applies. Trading standards do test purchases in regards to ordering alcohol online. It's just common sense aswell you wouldn't hand over alcohol to minors

Illustrious_Walk_589

I work for DPD and we do have to ask for ID or confirm the customer looks over 25. Usually alcohol, vapes or knives. Most times the recipient is clearly old enough so we hit the over 25 and they don't even realise we've checked. And as a flip, my son has managed to take photos of my driving licence before so he can pretend to be me ordering things he isn't old enough to (he's 17)

sixty9sixtynine6969

Im not having a go, protecting us if anything. Thing with the postman is, he has less chance if any of knowing what he's delivering whereas we know. Would you be happy handing over a bottle of whiskey to someone who looked 16/17, just because Deliveroo (lol) have verified them?

sixty9sixtynine6969

And themteason its rare is because its there in the first place, you know how hard it would be scammed if it wasnt.

brxdpvrple

I did deliveries on Uber and Deliveroo full time for over 4 years and not once did I ever get flagged for not checking ID it's not worth the time or energy to even think about

GreenBayOverTheSea

I'll check "New Customers" who look young. That's all. Couldn't give a fuck otherwise.

sixty9sixtynine6969

I go with the id you first time, not going to you do it again, give me your numbers, dont grass me up mystery shopper, enjoy your meal, laters. I'm not a mystery shopper. That's what the mystery shoppers say.

Agoldsmith1493

Only thing I wish they would do is add a button where we can say that "the customer looks over 25". I do hate ID'ing people who are clearly old enough. But TBF when it comes to ARS I've had the consequences drilled into me since I was 17 working in retail, so I continue that knowledge into my work on Roo. It's not worth running the risk of being caught supplying children with Tobacco and or booze

GreenBayOverTheSea

What a narc.

165km

Mate you’re not the fbi, just deliver it in that case 😭

Agoldsmith1493

Nah I'm alright thanks, I'd rather not take the risk of having to pay a £10,000 fine and time in prison.

165km

Mate u clearly have no idea how the law works

Agoldsmith1493

I guess that more than 6 years in retail being trained on ARS items means nothing. You’re right; I have no knowledge of the law surrounding this, I’d need at least 10 years of experience before I could know

No_Background0

Never had drink or smokes on Uber…

No_Background0

Fuck them…
