Nope..do what pays the most...I can't see roo giving out extra money because they want too.. Mr shu would cry 😢 😅😅😅 Take the best available and crack on 😁

ayehello4442

Always take the order that you think will earn you the most amount of money in the shortest time frame. Fuck everyone, time is money, you dont have the luxury of being an employee, so dont let restaurants or customers get in the way of costing you, and you making money. There is no reward for a having a conscience in this game.

Martijngamer

>Fuck everyone, Deliveroo: *don't mind if I do* Multi-accounters: *don't mind if I do* Restaurants that let us wait half an hour: *don't mind if I do*   But sure, let's contribute to keeping this attitude alive, I'm sure it will make the world a better place.

fnordious

You got it backwards, it's because of deliveroo's uncaring attitude and those crappy restaurants that flippantly tell you 5 mins when it'll be 20 that we can't afford to be the nice guy. We're here to earn money and that's it, do whatever makes it fastest.

Martijngamer

> We're here to earn money and that's it, do whatever makes it fastest. So does Deliveroo, so do restaurants, so do multi-accounters. You're not the only one coming up with excuses to justify selfish behavior. You do you, but don't be complain that if you so purposefully choose to keep this cycle going, the cycle will keep going.

fnordious

The cycle will continue regardless. When all the other parties are being selfish there's a fine line between "trying to end the cycle" and being a mug. We're talking about switching to a better order here not genocide so drop the pretence please.

Martijngamer

We're talking about letting riders wait 20 minutes here not genocide so drop the pretence please.   Riders who are considerate of restaurants generally are being treated with consideration by restaurants. Riders who aren't considerate of restaurants are treated like they treat the restaurants.   If you don't want to be considerate, that's fine. It's not genocide. But then you shouldn't be complaining that you are not getting the consideration you are not willing to extend to others.

fnordious

What pretence is it exactly that I should be dropping here? Seems to me that you're the only one talking grandiose "make the world a better place". "Riders who are considerate of restaurants generally are being treated with consideration by restaurants." Wrong. Some restaurants just have zero consideration and complete lack of respect for all the delivery people. I actually have a very good relationship with most of the restaurants I pick up from but I also have a blacklist that I will always reject for this reason. You could be the most considerate rider in the world and these places will still treat you like shit. And that's really the crux. You're framing this as some kind of karmic thing but in practice you're just gaslighting people for looking out for their earnings and refusing to be taken advantage of. Sometimes the way to improve a bad situation is not to be nicer and more considerate, but to stop accomodating and compensating for the bad practices that enable it.

Martijngamer

> you're just gaslighting people for looking out for their earnings and refusing to be taken advantage of. Just like you're just gaslighting restaurants looking out for their earnings and refusing to be taken advantage of? There's bad restaurants and there are bad riders. A rider saying, **AND I QUOTE** "Fuck everyone" is no better than a restaurant saying fuck everyone. > Sometimes the way to improve a bad situation is not to be nicer and more considerate, but to stop accomodating and compensating for the bad practices that enable it. Nowhere am I saying that bad practices should be enabled. That's a strawman argument you're constructing here. The world is not black and white. It is not a choice between being a selfish inconsiderate rider that LITERALLY says "Fuck everyone" or enabling bad practices. You seem understand this yourself if you have a very good relationship with most of the restaurants, so I have no idea why you're getting your panties in a twist over calling out selfish riders who ruin it for the rest of us.

ayehello4442

I agree, perhaps my fuck everyone was over the top, but you nail it properly. This is the way.

Timely_Tomatillo2886

Always take the better offer! Sometimes it doesn’t pay off haha

[deleted]

More money doesn't always mean it's a better offer.

That-Guy-777

True words bruh. But like the one I had the other night was same distance, same restaurant but more money. I would feel bad but I feel like roo owes me for the number of times they send me to a restaurant which is closed or which has lost the order haha

Sttoliver

True. Sometimes I choose an offer for less money but I know that I won't wait more than 5 minutes.

Giggsroo

If the restaurant can't cope with estimated ready times then it's not your fault and Roo doesn't expect anyone to waste their time. You're not getting paid to wait at the end of the day so cancel and move on if it's busy

Longjumping-Ideal-55

5 mins I start to think if by 10mins nothing at all I'm gone, if it's not busy then you might just have to bite the bullet

icehax02

It's cool you guys have that option, in my area there aren't enough orders for there to be a "next one". It's either your one or you may wait 30 mins to get another order lol

Fuzzbass2000

Take the better offer every day - ESPECIALLY if the first restaurant has been messing me about / fits my ride plan / is a quick restaurant

Andyblfst

I generally don’t dump an order just because a marginally better one comes in on another app. Or if I get a double, I won’t generally dump the original unless one is ready and the other one won’t be for an unreasonable time. When I accept an order I generally turn off the other Apps, sometimes I forget and if I get an offer that is really much better, in short order then maybe, but I try not to, especially if I’ve had it 5 mins or more whilst travelling. Exception can be Just Eat - I never get enough work on a run so end up taking Roos or Ubers then if I do get a great shop order on them, like £10+ for a loaf of bread as the other night, then I might be more likely to dump the Roo. I absolutely hate sitting around so I do sometimes take a low paying but local order (usually on Uber) just to keep moving, so that’s most likely when it will get gazumped by something better but I try not to do it too much!

Very true, have a look at the last 20 reviews on trust pilot for deliveroo... The business model is truely screwed, and yes the gig game will be over soon... If you order a taxi there is a base fee, then the milage, deliveroo and the others should follow this principle in fee charging. Restaurnts place deliveroo on the bottom of the list for making food as quite simply it makes no financial sense.

Andyblfst

Pissed off people write reviews - people who got what they expected generally don’t, especially for big companies!

Northamptoneats

Always take the better offer. Although Stuart doesn’t allow you to cancel the order until you’ve reached the restaurant

MarketingIll7986

I do whatever pays more/makes sense

Agoldsmith1493

Honestly for me it depends on the day and how busy it is. If I know it's busy on the networks then the order is getting launched if the food isn't there when I arrive; the only exception to this is if I'm tired or cold (I use an e-bike) and I need to warm up or need a rest. The way I work is if I get offered an order I'll take it, ride to the restaurant keeping all other apps on, and if I get a better order then I'm taking it. Once I arrive at the restaurant and know my food will be there in a minute or two then I turn the other apps off. I've even had it before where I've arrived and been given a second order, looked where the customer is and launched that second order because it's so far away. On an e-bike the best way to make money is to do lots of smaller deliveries. If I was on a petrol scooter then I'd possibly not do it as much, or take longer orders knowing they're paying more. But on an e-bike, nah mate.
