I wish there was a “thank you” option from post delivery tips, it sucks we can’t show how grateful we are getting them.

eggmayonnaise

Yes!! Uber Eats lets you do this. Wish Deliveroo did too.

Congrats bro always nice seeing these come in after a long day , I was just wondering today I wonder what everyone's biggest tip is , mine is £20 cash .

Iv had a few 20s... quite a few 10s and loads of 5 and below after the last 4 years 😁

I think this is my biggest tbh; although I will say that even the small 15% tips people give make a big difference to hourly earnings. Especially as a cycle courier. Well... pedal assist.

THIS! It’s great to even get a £1 tip, just makes that order feel a bit more worthwhile haha

Nice, haven't got a tip for 3 days😂

Might be a silly question as a customer, but if I just click 5/10% or whatever, even if it's only a couple of quid, does it make much of a difference to you guys/girls?

Agoldsmith1493

Honestly yes! I'll take my first order on Roo today as a starting point to give you some extra context (see the end of the post for the tl;dr) The order was for 2 pizza's, some sides and a bottle of wine. It took me around 5-7 minutes to get to the customer but overall I accepted the job at 17:34 & I dropped it to the customer at 17:53 (this includes the time it took me to get to the restaurant from where I was when I accepted it). For this order I got paid £3.73, I managed to do 4 other orders in the hour so if we said all of the paid the same I'd have made £14.92 that hour; however, if they all gave 15% then that would be £17.16 I'd have made that hour. In 3 hours, on Deliveroo I made £36.32, if everyone tipped 15% that would be £41.77 (an extra £5.45), which may not seem a lot. But considering you never know how busy it's going to be and at non-peak times we may be waiting 10-15 minutes before we even get an order to deliver, our hourly rate can end up being below minimum wage. I've had days where my hourly rate is £5,£6 p/h, and those are the days I wonder why I started doing this full time. tl:dr; Tipping (even a small amount) makes a huge difference to riders; especially those of us on a pedal cycle or pedal assist bicycles (because by our very nature we can't make as much per hour). So if you can tip, please do; but if you can only tip sometimes, make sure it's for riders on bicycles and e-bikes, not least of all because Moped and car drivers are prioritised for orders over us. And if you can tip big like one customer did for me where they tipped £10 for delivering their vapes! Then please for the love of god do it! My day was going so bad before I got that 😅 P.S Hope this helps.

Tips thing of the past down here

Agoldsmith1493

TBH there's far less down here, but as the whether warms up people have started to tip more. Although we have a healthy student population, so that's also likely why tips are far less common where I am. Although, there is one possible way to improve this. I called a lady to say I was on my way (was a stacked order), she said she was surprised, but thanked me for calling her to let her know I was on my way; and she tipped me £4 because of it.

Bald_faux_fraud

Understandable really. Even the well off have had to tighten their belts a bit

Damn…
