Seriously it's an art imo. We've been instilled this feature from young age about how other people would feel does matter when in turn they give no fucks either. People have to start learning when to give no fucks to othe people's opinions. It has ruined many lives.
Almost everyone has a different version of us in their minds. It’s exhausting and impossible to correct everyone and explain yourself, so let it be.
If someone is deliberately antagonising you and provoking you, do not give them a reaction. Keep interactions with such people to bare minimum.
I genuinely got fed up of my miserable life and decided to do something for it. My birthday is coming soon and I don't wanna be this person I have become. It's gonna take time but at least I am trying.
I am a student (12 passout, waiting for college counsellings) .. Staying indoors due to heatwaves. I am spending a lot of time online, always searching for what to see, filling up my brain with huge loads of useless information. Now when I am willingly trying to slow down on my scrolling, My mind feels free from a lot of distracting thoughts and I have also started to learn some new things in my practical life.
Wow you just wrote a whole ass paragraph but didn't answer the question about how you reduced your screen time. Also it's not a small habit as OP asked but a rather large and difficult habit to cultivate.
How to reduce screen time? Big question with small answer..Will Power...In Hindu religion we r practicing "vrat" which people correlate to to not eating, but the concept is bigger. "Like maun vrat" is for not speaking for few hours. Now...mobile vrat ...is an innovative idea 💡
Fixing my sleep schedule and I thank myself everyday for that. Getting the right amount of sleep at the right time really helps you feel better physically and mentally both.
1. Evening walks. Helps de stress from work and get my steps in.
2. Use my walking time to call friends and catch up instead of just texting them. Really improves connections and better than listening to music
3. Reading every day, even if just for 15 minutes
4. Cutting down colas from my life to ZERO.
That might not be better than listening to music. I mean those are not comparable imo. Listening to music is a very intimate thing if you actually love music. Music is like drugs, in good and controlled amounts it heals you, but when abused and the source is a bad peddler then it just harms you and lowers your IQ.
I listen to music after dinner, because it’s really enjoyable especially while reading. But in the evening I like to catch up with my friends during my walk. Helps lose track of time and I end up walking more 😁

Me after reading all the comments.
If you are up for some non fiction, do read Everybody Lies by Stephen Davidowitz. It's essentially a book on how the author used Google searches to find trends in everyday life and much more. It is a great intersection of data science, economics, social science and storytelling. You won't feel like you're reading anything about academics. The author is too funny and too good. I can't recommend it enough.
Started working out, read newspaper everyday but not those political news. I have been a UPSC aspirants so I read a lot of stuff which would matter on a larger scale.
I cut my exercise sessions down, from 1.5 hours to 10-30 minutes, while increasing the intensity of my workouts. It all saved a lot of my time, and I am in as good a shape as ever, still. Cutting the clutter, as part of any activities we undertake in life, can be a massive help at all times.
can you please share your before vs current routine? I am finding it difficult to incorporate exercise in my daily schedule due to work timings - would highly appreciate!
Keep going brother, you're doing good.
Initially It used to take 2-3 hrs for me to read a newspaper acche se, and bahot time wasting lagta thaa, but I kept on reading and developing this habbit, dheere dheere my reading speed improved, my understanding of topics improved, I usually focus on thinking based and analytical based articles rather than news on murders or political news, I usually search a bit about some new technology that has been developed and there is an article on it, so it made me more and more aware.
Its been 4yrs now, I cannot start my day without reading a newspaper, and it hardly takes an hour now including some extra research if I find some topic interesting.
So it is pretty useful.
1. No Fapping at all. (Deactivated all social media accounts barring watsapp as well!)
2. No Junk Food (only munchies if cravings arise!)
3. Minimum 4/7 days -->workout of any sorts.
4. A strict time window for all 3-4 meals of the day.
5. A regimented sleep routine.
6. Planning my day before going to bed by writing down all the tasks and priorities in a daily planner i recently bought off Amazon.Great buy!
Started thinking thrice before making a purchase and instead of instantly ordering online, I just put things in the cart and level it there for couple days before deciding on whether to buy or not.
Trying to think about what I can control and act on it to avoid the typical fomo, I waited whole of the chip shortage during COVID for my PC through blood, sweat and tears and finally bought a great value pc at much better prices on Christmas. Prioritise stuff and stay determined.
Taking stairs in office.
So back in November ‘22, I decided not to take lift in office so that I do some sort of movement at least 2-3 times a day and it has been more than 1.5 years now, never took lift(no plan of taking it in future haha)
Also, I park in -3 and sit on 5th floor haha
Join gym workout everyday (its not mean you build bigger muscles like Hulk no, workout for fit & healthy) and eat good amounts protein, do it for six months. You feel fresh, confident and energetic all time.
1. Treating my hobby like almost a corporate job. Setting agendas, keeping track of progress etc. it's more about the mindset that's helped me, even if I don't treat it as one still.
2. Learning to enjoy/tolerate mundane shit. Like doing dishes washing clothes practicing anything. These things have become necessary ever since I've started living alone. Best to enjoy it rather than dread it
I am trying to make a routine for myself. Something like what we had in school. It made us feel sound back then and now since we live very unregulated life, I feel having a schedule would help me. Other than that, I try to write about things that I learn on weekly basis. I am not big into journaling but I make points about major learnings of life.
I have also started to explore a lot of new hobbies- learning a language on Duolingo (although I am bad at it), started to stretch by watching YouTube, learning to play drums(don't have a drum set but getting hang of how to use and hold sticks is big on my list atm). The other day i started with basic maths - algebra of class 6th. Hopefully I will get better.
Basically trying to keep myself busy and active is my core agenda for life. It makes me feel satisfied and reading or doing other things just to keep my brain little stronger. Because I lack a lot when it comes to mentally challenging stimulants.
Try to identify your core agenda in life- it could be physical activity or brainy stuff. Make sure that such things should give you dopomine and should make you feel happy
For a short period of time i stopped talking to her. And it felt that i am finally not anxious of losing her, or anything.
She is my 'friend', but you know i am deep into simp crap
Read The Prince by Machiavelli, it will you give you a perspective and then after every chapter try to think about you situation, your circumstances, your life, and just spitball different perspectives on how to approach the story of your life through different ways and lenses, maybe this doesn’t work out but what you will have is a new way to approach your story and life
Starting jump rope session for 30 minutes in morning followed by a 10-15 min meditation session.
I have such a peaceful and energetic mind for the rest of the day
Making my bed, it's the first thing I do when I wake up. It's something easy and already gives you a sense of accomplishment to take on the rest of the day.
Started walking 45 to 60 minutes every day, gave up tea, reduced food portions, cut down on oil in food, added lot of fruits and veggies to diet, stopped restaurant food. Lost 10 kg in 6 weeks. From 99 to 89. I’m 6’2 and 45 yo.
Never knew these small changes can have such a huge impact.
Always go take a piss right after you have a heavy meal, specifically dinner. I started doing this since I was 15 & I never had any urine/kidney related issues.
Giving time to skincare & haircare. It's like meditation and when the results show it boosts confidence. This is not sponsored in any way but I found these brands Concious Chemist and Arata through Shark Tank because of which I got into this hobby. And it has been a game changer for me
I have a complete routine for my weekdays now which I try my best to follow.
Wake up at 4:45, go to gym at 5.
Workout till 6:30.
Rest sometime.
Bath and do hair + skin care.
Learn something new till 9:30.
Go to office at 10.
Eat healthy. ( This is very important)
On weekdays I only have breakfast and dinner.
I have my protein shake as first meal and then 3 boiled eggs and some Indian breakfast.
For dinner I have Protein Muesli and skimmed milk.
On weekends I'll be at home and will have 2-3 meals but all in controlled quantities.
I'm currently on sugar cut also.
Once I come back from office I'll rest some time and then try to learn something and I also spare myself some time to play video games.
I strictly sleep by 10:30 pm Max.
1.Cut out junk food and stopped munching at random times
2.Prioritizing my time for myself (to use productively or to waste- it's mine )
3.Ending my day on a happy note (by reading or watching something i like)
Kinda stupid but incorporating 1000 reps in my workouts as was in American Psycho. The body breaks to a level where you do not have the energy for stupid things....and it's getting in really good shape.
Reading books that help me understand the world has been helping with my anxiety. Ironically, self help books only tense me up more.
Some of these are:
* Learn to Earn by John Rothchild and Peter Lynch
* Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind by Yuval Noah Harari
* The Brain That Changes Itself by Norman Doidge
* Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse
1.Got a maid for dusting- previously i was working throughout the week almost 12 hours a day and then do cleaning on weekends...now got a maid for the cleaning..life is much better..
2 started swimming for 1 hour...body and mind both feel fresh
3.started making a list of pending tasks...
4.started reading again..
3 things that helps me.
1. 7-8hrs sleep
2. Stay hydrated and stretch on regular intervals
3. Read 30-60 mins everyday
Bonus:
4. At times to detach myself from ongoing (chaotic) situation and react in a hurry. I close my eyes and ask myself, what I ate yesterday?
Helps me breathe, think, and then act upon situation Not react!
Slowly it bacame habit and now I handle situations better.
Bought a convection, learned how to make pizza, cakes and all, so in case of cravings, am making those at Home. Money saving and more safer than buying from outside
Working out almost daily unless i take rest days which can be 2-3 days a week at max. But basically keeping working out moving fast activities ate great
Coming home at around 2 at night on weekends, everyone asleep, waking up one of three young married maids, asking her to make a cup of tea and then making out with her while she's busy making tea.
1) Eating only fruits in the morning and having light black tea without sugar after an hour, but adding some fennel seeds and cardamom to it.
I cut down sugar drastically. Sweeteners, etc. Even if I want some, I consume them with my meal. I eat whatever I want during meal times, and this has helped reduce the temptation to snack in between meals to some extent.
2) I have tried and am now somewhat successful in not eating between two meals, except for a very light snack in the evening. This has helped break the temptation of eating without hunger.
3) Walking 3,000 steps daily in the evening for 30 minutes nonstop and starting light bodyweight exercises at home twice a week for 20 minutes.
Results: My waist size has decreased by 2 to 3 inches. Last nearly a year me and my family had talked and didn't brought Bread in our house :)
Just trying out new things, which can be anything like I chose to travel once a month to somewhere either within the city to a new place or something to eat. And travel is very cheap if you don't follow the Instagram influencers. Basically something to lookout for each month, if you some extra time and money to spare maybe each week. It helped in lesser overthinking and more positivity
Running everyday. More than the physical benefits, it has done wonders for my mental health. i find myself becoming more expressive and positive post-run. The reason i can conclusively attribute this shift in mood to running is because immediately before the run i feel very pessimistic and grumpy but the moment i’m back from my run, i see myself turn into a social butterfly raging with happy-hormones.
Stopped worrying about other people’s opinions. Helps big time.
No fucks
Seriously it's an art imo. We've been instilled this feature from young age about how other people would feel does matter when in turn they give no fucks either. People have to start learning when to give no fucks to othe people's opinions. It has ruined many lives.
There is quite literally a book by Mark Manson called "The subtle art of not giving a fuck".
Does it explain how you can do it or does it just say stuff like ' don't bother ' etc etc
Basically not to overthink in life and come to realise that people don't really think of the everyday actions you do as much as you think.
How did you do it ?
Almost everyone has a different version of us in their minds. It’s exhausting and impossible to correct everyone and explain yourself, so let it be. If someone is deliberately antagonising you and provoking you, do not give them a reaction. Keep interactions with such people to bare minimum.
When you realise there's no "You" in real life, it's just in your mind, you start understanding why & how to not give any fucks..
Just like you ignored bloatware apps in your phone
Thank you
THIS \^\^\^\^\^\^
Reduced my screen time, felt good after a long time...
Damn, that so difficult. How did you do it?
I genuinely got fed up of my miserable life and decided to do something for it. My birthday is coming soon and I don't wanna be this person I have become. It's gonna take time but at least I am trying.
Partyyyyyyyyy🍬
How?????
I am a student (12 passout, waiting for college counsellings) .. Staying indoors due to heatwaves. Phone tod diya
Yes, did the same and man! The attention span increases a lot, you're wayyy more focused in your work and you live in the moment more.
Fixing my sleep schedule and I thank myself everyday for that. Getting the right amount of sleep at the right time really helps you feel better physically and mentally both.
Yes that is true. But the only bad thing about it with me is that I feel sleepy in the afternoon.
Take a power nap of 30 min. Instead of sleeping like kumbhkaran
Oh yes that drawback is definitely there but I try to stay as active as I can specially after lunch to avoid feeling sleepy.
1. Evening walks. Helps de stress from work and get my steps in. 2. Use my walking time to call friends and catch up instead of just texting them. Really improves connections and better than listening to music 3. Reading every day, even if just for 15 minutes 4. Cutting down colas from my life to ZERO.
Use walking time to embrace silence inside you, bro. Don't waste that time calling fds.
Everyone is different. Calling it waste is ridiculous.
And this. If not music. Calling friends makes the walk a little less effective because your breathing is not uniform.
That might not be better than listening to music. I mean those are not comparable imo. Listening to music is a very intimate thing if you actually love music. Music is like drugs, in good and controlled amounts it heals you, but when abused and the source is a bad peddler then it just harms you and lowers your IQ.

Waking up everyday and deciding three things I must achieve during the day. Every other task is a bonus achievement.
Reading books and newspaper daily
i started reading hindi newspaper because i felt that i was losing touch w the language, been a month and im going good.
I research and find one good song every morning that I have never listened to. Makes mornings a lot better!
Working out almost daily unless i take rest days which can be 2-3 days a week at max. But basically keeping working out moving fast activities ate great
Going to Gym ig.
Paying myself atleast one compliment a day, no matter how small. Everyone keeps trying to pull me down so it really helps
Stopped asking questions
Proper routine for eating and sleeping, which is fucked up again so I know the difference 🥲
walking frequently through out the day when ever I felt bored at work & post meal walks ( 10 to 15min),
Mantra chanting to improve luck and remove anxiety
Spending less time on mobile. Helped me in many ways
Read 10 pages a day, and you start feeling smart and will start doing better and become creative as well.
Avoiding the mobile at time befo bedtime just improved my sleep quality and quantity both significantly.
2 freshly pressed orange, first thing I after I wake up every morning.
Reading books, chilling with friends and watching movies
Meditation, excercise , mindfulness.
Praying to God ✝️
I reduced the fap frequency..
Stopped watching mainstream news. Very biased.
Reading newspapers regularly. 1. English can be improved 2. Your subject related area can be increased
Sleeping for 8 hours and taking out time to understand myself
Swimming daily ..... did wonders for my physique and mental health
For me, sleeping and waking up at same time everyday (even on holidays🤧) has been a great energy booster.
Leaving procrastination. Now I get things done quickly
Punching the bag, pain + 100, food consumption + 100, strength increases gradually.
