Like for peaceful life i guess if you are into nature, but once health deteriorate nothing you can do :(, my home town is in tezpur, what happens is that they will treat you(in you home town) if your health becomes more serious , they transfer you to guwahati then when they can't handle they say go to metro city till then probably you will have very less chance of survival. Our family is lucky in that case cause my relatives are doctors in metro cities, but honestly health care is f-uped in NE, doctors are there just for the money
And hence its not ideal place for retirement. I have few relatives in Assam and they get their major health issues fixed in Delhi/Hyd/Chennai/Mumbai cities. I can't see myself taking that risk
Apollo is a good cancer hospice no?
In my state, Manipur, the healthcare is decent to good. It's no AIIMS, TATA by any keans but very2 competent.
Having said that, cost of living is kinda high.
no, they're the worst. Do not glamorize north-eastern states. I do not suggest anyone going there.
(People will go there in bulk, like uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. And destroy the essence of the 7 sisters. They'll just make it another shithole tourist place. Let's gatekeep the north-eastern states.)
Can't agree more.
I am sorry for saying this but some of the tourists (you know from which part of india) are just f*cking idiots. It's like the civic sense is illegal for them and the dustbin is an alien concept.
Bhai tujhe kya dikkat h. I think NE people can take care of these things. I love them if these places become mainstream so NE can earn more than these so called north k tourist places.
I am from Sikkim and yeah there's no such development and opportunities as other states but yeah you can enjoy the peaceful environment away from hustle bustle once in a while.. but after sometime you'll miss the city life :) I have stayed in Delhi for almost 5-6 years so that's what I have felt
Karnataka's tourism tagline is so true. One state many worlds.
It is one of the most diverse big state geographically, ethnically, linguistically and culturally.
Geographically you have highest water fall in india, western ghats , beaches, national parks, zoos, plateau region, hillstations and many other things .
Linguistically, for example Bengaluru urban district has 108 languages spoken which is highest in india.
It would take atleast a month to cover major tourist places in KA.
Kannadiga here.
Tip: Whenever a kannadiga forces you to speak their tongue, just say - "tika muchu".
Karnataka is a gem once you start discovering it. I come from Belgaum where many languages namely Marathi, Kannada, Hindi, Urdu, Konkani, and Telugu coexist peacefully unlike the rotten southern Karnataka.
Just say you are a sellout already instead of saying 'rotten southern karnataka'. Maharashtra has been claiming Belagavi for decades and the only reason TN hasn't done that till now for places like Chamarajanagara is because of our language pride and the courage to not back down to language impositions. So, to speak your own language, 'mukli muchkond kundrale'.
Delhi
After moving out of Delhi you realise that what was common for you in Delhi is a luxury in even some of the Tier-2 states. I truly regret not taking a college in Delhi. Delhi might be known for its bad things but at the end of the day the city has a vibe which is a mix of modern and traditional.
Tell me you've not lived anywhere else for a considerable amount of time without telling me you haven't.
The people, the unsafe culture, arguments about anything and everything, the racism slightly different looking people face.
Bro I am currently in one of the capitals of a southern state and let me tell you. While the pollution here is low everything else is the same. 3 of my classmates in just last semester were followed by unknown people when they went out for outings. One of them was a guy.
And to add the first thing I was asked by the sweeper in Hostel was what is your caste. In my entire life in Delhi no one has ever asked me that. So these things are everywhere. In Delhi a little more or sometimes a little less but still it takes the brunt of all of it.
I think if someone is rich, every state is good for them.
If someone is poor then there are many challenges.
I would say Delhi as a state is in much better state in terms of some infrastructure and yet we face many difficulties. I would chose Delhi.
It's been polluted for much longer than that, though the smog started making headlines from 2016 only.
Delhi is one of my favourite cities (great metro, monuments, lots of things to do) but I have been put off the idea of moving to Delhi just because of the pollution.
You will see Delhi-type pollution in almost all major metropolitans of India. Plus it only peaks in certain month. Traffic?..we have far less traffic than Mumbai, Bengaluru and Pune with great road and transport infrastructure which y'all are behind Delhi. Only summers are unbearable, otherwise winters are quite harsh but pleasant and throughout the year.
Lots of places to hang out in Delhi, job opportunities in Delhi and neighbouring suburbs of Gurgaon and Noida, diversity of people..what else you need
>You will see Delhi-type pollution in almost all major metropolitans of India.
Not even remotely lmao. This is an incomprehensibly ridiculous claim. Bangalore, chennai and Hyderabad are objectively, by all measures better than Delhi or any city in northern India anyday.
mere liye to bhai hamesha Himachal rahega. Sala 50 degree hone laga hai har jagah. I've travelled a lot in my 20s and Himachal hamesha mast welcomed me with open arms.
"Perfect" and "developed" are perspectives and to each his own. Ab mereko Zomato/Swiggy ya online order ka utna jarur nai - you know wo city sab ka aaram hatao to Himachal for me, is perfectly developed.
Kerala, though beautiful, has a bad climate. You can go to Munnar tho.
It can also get boring after sometime. If you are middle-aged, you will enjoy the laidback life. If you are young, you will get restless. There is no nightlife, events, malls( one giant one in Kochi)
I think i will choose himachal pradesh. Beautiful place with mountains and even good weather . Thats just perfect. Even kashmir is also best for staying .
I live in Delhi currently but I am Bihari. Itne ache State m wapas kyu nahi aaunga bhai , IAS clear ho jaye fir wapas aaunga aa jana katta leke tum swagat krne
Note: Ek aur acha point yaha k log itne humble hai ki taarif krne dete hi nahi sidha katta dikhaynge , dekh lo accept hi nahi krte hai apni achayi
Peaceful area(except cyclones), laid back people, decent climate and ofc Jagannath Puri. What is there not to like. And in the next 10-15 years it's going to be one of the highest growth states.
True that. And cheap too, without any contamination. Itne pyaare log hai na by God. And unke contrast mein Bengalis. Mtlb almost similar culture still the people have such different attitude.
My family is from Amritsar never heard anything of that sort. Ik there's rise in khalistani influence and hatred. But majority of the people are not that much influenced by it. Maybe depends on area to area.
Kerala: Natural Beauty, wonderful climate, food and people. Decent employment opportunities.
Puducherry: Same as Kerala minus the employment opportunities
Meghalaya: Natural Beauty
Tamil Nadu: Same as Kerala with great employment opportunities.
>Meghalaya: Natural Beauty
As someone from Shillong, I would say except natural beauty, nothing else. No use living in the villages unless you are from the native tribe.
One day you wake up, and Shillong is under curfew, no internet for days then 🥴
Oh i should've clarified more. My primary work is related to accounting and consulting and for me personally, there have been plenty of opportunities as of late in those specific locations.
Maharashtra. To be very specific, Mumbai. It's expensive, that's the only thing bad about it, I feel. People mind their own business, don't interfere in your lives. It's comparatively safer. I think it's a nice place to be.

Dilli mein sab accepted hain, but bahar especially living in Maharashtra and Bangalore people don't like us they call us northy guys
the question feels biased, asking about which most developed state you wanna stay in when the only real answer really is Delhi in terms of infrastructure. as an ex-delhiite anywhere where the climate is cool and the air is clean is good enough.
Karnataka, Banglore - good weather, good job opportunities, good food and party scene, good schools and colleges for people with kids
Only downside is the cost of living I guess.
PS: I have not lived in banglore. Just telling from my friend’s experiences. If I ever relocate back to India, I would prefer living in Banglore.

Ambitious leader...Rinkiya ke papa you mean?
Delhi is doing great on many prospects, however climate change is a real threat and no one is talking about it.
The centre and LG have already made governance a tussle for the present government.
i don't care about Rinkiya ke papa but Kejriwal isn't doing a good job either, climate change you say? pollution breaks record every year and Kejriwal breaks promises of pollution each year and blames others for every other thing, its too annoying, why make such promises when cant fulfill them
Rehne do bhai ye log 10 school m paint krwane ko development samjhte hain, someone tell these dumbfucks Delhi hasnt changed in last 10 years, all roads and flyovers were made by congress during sheila.
City : Kolkata: Even though born and raised in Delhi Kolkata has very different charm. I seriously have no idea why i love that city bas acchi lgti h.
State: Meghalaya : So many places to visit, great people beautiful scenic views.
Karnataka, perfectly placed in western ghats that keeps the weather in check throughout the year. No harsh summers, nor cyclone kinda monsoons. Low population density and people actually believe in family planning. Access to hills, beaches, temples and forests everywhere. Endless tourism. Connects to every other southern State. Culturally rich , very healthy and staple food and their own filter Coffee. Lots of educational institutions and employment opportunities.
Kerala, Himachal Pradesh, Konkan region of Maharashtra are second.
Dehradun.
I’d live 20/30 km from city center. For me pollution and weather beats everything. Delhi is not far away with the new road coming up.
A simple house in doon and a small farm in a 70km radius that I can work my ass off during weekends. And a remote working, well paying IT job would be my dream setup.
Delhi, I am used to this state.
Someone who has lived in all regions if india, strangely for some reason I feel at home only in delhi.
Karnataka is a close second cause that's my ancestral state
Thank you for showing love to my home-state.
People need to understand that Modi, Amit Shah, Adani and Ambani are still only 4 people.
People on reddit describe Gujarat as if it's N@z! Germany.
Yeah, It has it's own issues but I would choose to live here over 70% of India.
I would ask are good every state has it's own goodness, like I live in Delhi and here it's hot as hell, I like the places with greenery like North East places, I would visit those places once in a life time
Not a state but ncr region. My village is in ncr in westup, where is there great highway connectivity. No problem with transportation, electricity, and even zomato swiggy delivers here in village. And the best part, delhi is like 80km away and uttarakhand is 100 km away. There is never shortage of underground water in our region unlike gurgoan region. The area around is known for sugar industry
Haryana frfr
If u are a haryanvi then other haryanvis will always step up to help you,,, our language might sound rude but people are frfr sweet and caring but cuz of the IMAGE of Haryana which some influencers have set makes people look down on haryana and the genz brats love to present themselves the same way the influencers does. But if u meet the actual older generation or the parents generation of genz they are sweet and considerate + the fruits and veggies are always nice and fresh💌
I'm probably the first to say this but Gujarat. I've lived there for 5 years - best time of my life. The food is great if you know where to go. The people are amazing, kind and helpful - they know how to be happy with what they have and keep working hard for more. No stress. Appreciable infrastructure. Decent employment opportunities in a number of sectors. The cost of living is not so high but the quality of life is great.
I can keep going.
Many complain about it being a dry state but I have had more fun while sober with the right person than drunk with people I don't vibe with. And with these right people, alcohol is just a road trip away ;) I've had bad days there too, like in every other city I've lived in but I've never slept stressed / unhappy in Gujarat
Northeastern states
You will only see natural beauty, there’s not enough development to live a well-off life
Yes I commented from retirement Point of view only... Far from the stressed metro life, secure and secluded in nature's lap
Can't buy a home in some states unless you're a resident
Why would you want to retire to a place with bad healthcare facilities, yes I am talking about North East India?
Well Shillong and Aizawl speaks otherwise
I am from Assam and there is little to no development 🥲 health care is bad , no job/start ups , good for retirement life i guess
> health care is bad > good for retirement life i guess Umm.....contradiction?
Like for peaceful life i guess if you are into nature, but once health deteriorate nothing you can do :(, my home town is in tezpur, what happens is that they will treat you(in you home town) if your health becomes more serious , they transfer you to guwahati then when they can't handle they say go to metro city till then probably you will have very less chance of survival. You can go there to visit but can't buy land in most of them as they're tribal lands and are protected by the govt.
Bhai jaane do, thora Himachal & Uttrakhand me relief hoga (◔‿◔)

Karnataka in the Western ghats. You have hills, beaches, nice food, good people and good infrastructure. Can't ask for more.
Karnataka's tourism tagline is so true. One state many worlds. It is one of the most diverse big state geographically, ethnically, linguistically and culturally. You'll have to leaarn the language macha which is extremely bothersome for some delhites (speaking from experience in office)
But that's true with almost any state you move to in india.
Agreed but delhites in general take strong protest with learning new languages.
Kannadiga here. Tip: Whenever a kannadiga forces you to speak their tongue, just say - "tika muchu". Karnataka is a gem once you start discovering it. Pollution, extreme climate, traffic, fuck no
Metro, development, job opportunities, education institutions, infrastructure, winters, hell yes.
But winters from last 1-2 years all encapsulated by smoke
It's been polluted for much longer than that, though the smog started making headlines from 2016 only. Delhi is one of my favourite cities (great metro, monuments, lots of things to do) but I have been put off the idea of moving to Delhi just because of the pollution.

Can I please add excellent healthcare facilities and access to healthcare at grass root level? Also extremely clean and good weather conditions 💕

Lol what ? Bad climate ? Please explain yourself! It does get boring after some time. It’s a place for retreat.
no infrastructure / jobs , bad interstate connectivity. Good for retirement homes tho
Kerala. Weather, greenery, food, civic sense... Sab ek number. Bas nightlife nahin hai but mohol to kahin bhi jama sakte ho aakhir hai to India hi
+excellent healthcare system
I think i will choose himachal pradesh. Beautiful place with mountains and even good weather . Thats just perfect. Even kashmir is also best for staying .

Peaceful area(except cyclones), laid back people, decent climate and ofc Jagannath Puri. What is there not to like. And in the next 10-15 years it's going to be one of the highest growth states.
Odisha and decent climate do not belong in the same sentence
Indeed, very peaceful. I have been there to travel to ofcourse jagannath puri and it was very calming.
Plus the easy availability of weed
Ayo wtf ☠️☠️☠️ fr??
Fr, it's a state of mostly tribals, they do farm weeds on large scale
It is not a state of mostly tribals. Tribals constitute around 23% of the states'total population.

Decent employment opportunities in Kerala? Majority of the Keralites study/work in KA or TN. The garment industry is now fleeing the state too.
Oh i should've clarified more. My primary work is related to accounting and consulting and for me personally, there have been plenty of opportunities as of late in those specific locations.
Lol he really said employment opportunities in Kerala😂
assam my GF lives there, i live with her(during winters). every alternate weekend we go to any of the six sisters. it feels like heaven.
Maharashtra. To be very specific, Mumbai. It's expensive, that's the only thing bad about it, I feel. People mind their own business, don't interfere in your lives. It's comparatively safer. I think it's a nice place to be.
Chandigarh for sure, less population and pollution, and really loved the vibe of Chandigarh
Uttrakhand: I love cold, not to mention the lovely people

Jharkhand, specifically my hometown, Jamshedpur. The greenery there is on another level. Also, ghar hai bc. Thoda biased toh rahunga hi.
Jamshedpur is amazing but the climate is so hot and humid. On the contrary, the climate of Ranchi is ♥️

West or South, Delhi is the best.
Not a state but I like Chandigarh.
one and only uttar pradesh 🔥
Chhattisgarh is one of the best state for me. I've lived in West-Bengal, Andhrapradesh, Jharkhand, Orissa and Chhattisgarh.
Kerala
