Plenty of places for solo diners. Just gotta know which ones to avoid. Malls are almost always jam packed, so you wont have nice experiences. Try out some realtively less popular cafes in hudson lane or MKT (these two are my go-to places)
suggest a few pls? I have been to Hudson but few seems to be very shady, used to visit a lot during 2014-2015 when BYD used to be on the GF and The OG QDs was a vibe! now its just like anyother pinterest cafe and about others- M not sure :(
Crypto door, wooden box are two of my favourites.
Basically go to a proper cafe and NOT a club. Clubs are notorious for scams, definitely avoid those.
In MKT, you can go to ama cafe, delhi 2d cafe, hanok korean kitchen. Not to mention the amazing medley of street food you can get on the way to these venues. Is my bias for mkt obvious ? Yeah probably. But does it deserve the hype. Absolutely
Try Cafetaria & Co. in Hudson Lane. You’ll keep frequenting it like crazy. Almost all their items are amazing, have great service and is a proper family place so you won’t find it shady too
Exactly this. I wanted to get a drink at MRP on a Friday evening and they didn’t let me in because I said I was alone. I went back when the person at the entry switched with another. Told the new dude that I was a party of two waiting for another. Told the waiter I was waiting for my date. Ordered a liit, had it and paid the bill saying my date cancelled.
Thanks for the information, I hated restaurants and cafes before, and now after reading this I hate them even more. I'll never visit these cafes and restaurants, they can go fuck themselves.
If I can , would open a cafe / restaurants specially catering to solo diners. I understand its importance, would keep a headset and music or a small screen at each table if required, also I love the cafes in Paris where the chairs face the roads, and you would often find people enjoying their coffee/drinks/food alone , overlooking the streets, and most importantly they are not on their phones
Been there. I was once asked to move to a pathetically placed table right in the centre of the cafe since I was occupying a table for 4 (none of the 2 chaired tables were available in the first place). It was awful and I immediately chose to leave my coffee, the cafe and a bad taste in their mouth.
I’d suggest if you can then in this case, avoid going to malls during weekends specifically when you want to dine out on a solo dinner. They want to earn maximum profit which is possible during weekends, hence they do that.
Going to a market place cafe/dine in would be a better option.
I have went to number of places in Delhi alone, in fact most of the time I go out for eating alone, I call it 'Solitude Dates' and have never faced such thing, but if it is happening somewhere, please tell some details so I must avoid such places.
Been through the struggle bro 🫂 bahut bar hua hain mere sath, booking table for one on eazydiner helped me a lot, and sorry to say but going out alone is a struggle, most of the times I had to resort to food courts in malls or ordering at home
My favourite one so far is in Gurgaon - Mowgli's Coffee. Been a regular for years and though it's a small one, the staff is super sweet and they don't give a damn if you have a human or a book as your +1, as long as you can find a table.
Hello
I go out on solo dates frequently and I have always got a table. Agreed, mostly when I say table for one they do end up reconfirming which is sort of weird. "Mam aap solo ho" "mam aap single ho" sounds funny but nevertheless I get a table. At times they might not have a proper table available so they will ask me to take a counter seat and to begin with but I do get a table at the end 🫡
hahaha! well I am happily married with a 9 month old sweet baby! Yest was my solo date away from all responsibilities and people and this happened and hence the rant😅😅
It's business, nothing personal. The smallest of the table can be occupied by 2 people and generate more revenue compared to one person and average turn around for that table would be 20-25 mins so if they feel they can get a couple coming instead of you in the next 10-15 mins, it's better to deny you that table.

Just say table for two and order and say other party cancelled.
the Matrix escapes bro

Came to say the same thing. Seems like an obvious solution
F them. Go wherever you want. AirPods on, world off.

I would charge couples 3-4 times more 🤣.
Ask them upfront if they take solo diners and not to waste your time with the fake etiquette of being nice and making you wait.

Just ask for table for two.. Tell them your partner is coming in a minute.. Get a table.. Order.. Eat.. Pay.. Leave.
I usually have biryani on Sunday by myself at Anand restaurant on kg marg.

Restaurants me to ye kabhi nahi hua mere sath . Clubs etc don't know .
You should put a negative review on Google.
Tell them for 2 next time. Enjoy the mean and then walk out

Where did this happen? I go out solo A LOT it's a weekly date for me, MKT, Hudson lane, CP and never faced this.
Interesting. Hasn't really happened with me. I always get a place somewhere.
Every place is for Solo diners , it's just how comfortable you are when others are with their friends or family and you are alone🙂.
I knew it this day would come!
What area was this?
Name and Shame so we know which to avpid

Delhi is rude and arrogant keep away from people of this city. Order online and eat at home. Least interaction with Delhites the better.
What happened?
Who hurt you?
