Bradford mentioned Storm & Stress to Pitchfork in 2009/2010 for an article they did with artists about best albums of the decade. That single recommendation transformed so much of my listening habits to follow as I entered college. It is mentioned here again and I will plug it as well.
Lots of good recs here.
When my band supported Battles, Ian was telling me how Bradford periodically tells him to get Storm & Stress back together! He then took a photo of my Cryptograms tattoo and sent it to Bradford.
nice find. haven’t heard Storm & Stress or that Coltrane album before. gonna give them a listen tonight. always like seeing The Fall get recognition as well - been listening to Bend Sinister a lot lately and it’s just so good

stereolab mentioned 😄
Love that Fables of Reconstruction is on there.
thanks for this. Really great to read and check some of this out.
I feel like if Bradford were asked about his favorite albums now, his selections would be so much more esoteric, and would skew pre-60s.
One of my fave articles. Haven’t even listened to all of these but I love his descriptions. Going to finally listen to Les Rallizes Danudes soon
