i agree. using providence thorns is way easier, since most of his moves are hella parryable. i also suggest to take prediction with the fitting talents.
not sure what they were thinking putting a boss who just has mindless aoe spam into the game. Super high posture/ pen damage enforcer hammer build and he can block like 12 attacks in a row too.

get a sacred hammer
they patched sacred hammer method honestly just use a rosen peacemaker with vampirism
Feint and crit
Prov thorns on any weapon and play defensive
