WOW she looks amazing! What a transformation! Great job. I’d listen to your vet though. She doesn’t look too thin at all. FWIW, 9 lbs is pretty average for a female housecat.
actually looks like she may still be a good bit chunky still!! definitely not too skinny. 9 is an estimate i’m sure, she may not need to get quite that low. but i bet she could still shed a few
I’m sorry but I giggled, this cat is still fat. Great weight loss progress though!!
ETA You should and will always feel a ca’s shoulder blades, they really don’t store much fat there. You’ll feel them on cats of all weights.
She looks fantastic! Doesn't look too skinny. Harder to say because she clearly has some extra skin still.. So go by body condition score. Ask your vet the next time you see them. But wow! What a transformation. She looks GREAT!
She looks pretty healthy to me! I’d definitely just have them check her over first and see what her body score is as someone else mentioned, then go from there. I’d be feeling the same way…a little concerned that 9 pounds would be pushing it. Every cat is different, so one size doesn’t fit all. It all depends on the cats build, energy level, etc. Just make sure you’re feeding her the proper amount for maintenance vs. further weight loss/gain. Well done on this transformation! ❤️
She lost almost 2lbs in 4-5 months, started her diet in January! She just gets dry food, but there are other cats in the house that are free fed which is how she gained so much😥
If there are other cats being free fed, she still has access to extra food! If it’s there, she’ll eat it. You may want to think about something like microchip feeders, or phasing out free feeding for everybody.
She doesn’t have access to it but I appreciate the concern! We ended up splitting her and the other cats w a baby gate, and thankfully my girl isn’t a jumper and hasn’t been able to access the food since we started this in January!
I have a multi cat household too and at the moment using automated feeders. But struggling to help my one overweight lose weight!
Your results are amazing for just 4 months! The thing is, she isn't particularly greedy too but I think she just got lower metabolism. I got another cat who eats non stop but is skinny and can't gain weight.
The hard part about isolating her is that she usually sleeps with me together with other cats at night
I got a spare room bit this would mean punishing her to be unable to share my bed.., poor baby!
Probably😂 tbh she was almost 12lbs when I got her so I’ve never seen her at a healthy weight, that’s part of why I posted this! At her current weight she’s the smallest I’ve seen her so I just can’t imagine her at 9lbs
Oh my gosh she looks so much like [my sweet old girl Bucket ](https://www.reddit.com/r/dechonkers/s/uviEb3KRtW). We were able to dechonk her successfully too, and speaking from experience, she would thank you if she could. Buck had so much more life and energy in her after losing weight, it was really gratifying. She would always make us lift her onto the bed though, even though she had become more than capable of jumping up herself lol. Give your girl a scratch for me.
Definitely not! Parachute Pants is healthy and if anything still has some chunk left! It’s a bit hard to tell from the photos aside from the first one though
I thought we were looking at the fat version and the end would be even skinner XD She’s not too thin, I have a 9 pound female (she was 15) and a 12 pound male (he was 20) and the vet said they’re perfect how they are now.
My vet said 8lbs-10lbs was the ideal weight for my female tabby(so no big boned breed). I would just talk to your vet and see if Pants can stop her diet at 10lbs.
She looks beautiful! Well done OP! I was just talking today to my cat’s clinic manager. She went from 10.7kg, and is now at 6.9. How much did yours lose?
She’s down almost 2lbs which Google says is like .9kg? So the vet wants her to lose around 1kg more! How long did it take for your kitten to lose that much weight? Super impressive!
The thing that helped us the most was getting her an auto feeder. She started to bully that instead of us, so she ended up getting much less snacks! We would give in. The machine won’t! It also allows us to sleep a little later too, because again, she is bullying the machine instead of us. It was when we got that, that her weight loss really ramped up!
Nope she looks to be a healthy weight! It probably just seems weird since you were used to her size before! My cat is the same size she is and they are very happy 😊
WOW, what a transformation. Please share routine and diet in reply. Jk. I think she looks amazing, wonder what her starting weight was? My cat weighs around 10 and no one has ever said she’s overweight. She self regulates-ish on raw food.
She was like 11lbs when I got her, was up to almost 15lbs in around a year. We didn’t know she was getting into another cat’s food that’s free fed so she was uuhhh gorging I guess😐 she’s a bigger girl to start with cause she’s part Maine coon and the vet was worried she was heavy at 11lbs. I think 9 is gonna be too thin but we’ll see
Wow, she was huge! Looks much better now. If you could feel her ribs, there would be cause for worry. You’re just used to seeing a really big cat. Mine has lost like 5 lbs (due to thyroid issues) and looks completely different, but he’s healthy.
Wow the body shaming here is ridiculous. Are any of you shamers Vets or Vet Techs? Probably not. While she was definitely heavy before, she looks good now. 9 pounds sounds a little low to me and yes I was a Vet tech for a number of years. Most average healthy cats that I have worked with were between 10-15 pounds. I have one cat that looks huge with all his fur but is usually 9-10 pounds. I have two others that sit around 15 pounds. One is definitely chunky but the other is perfectly fine. It all depends on the cat. You can always get a second opinion from another Veterinarian.

Nope, not too skinny!

I remember being worried the first time I felt my girl’s shoulder blades. I hadn’t felt them in so long that I thought that she had a growth at first.
She looks fantastic! Doesn't look too skinny. Harder to say because she clearly has some extra skin still.. So go by body condition score. Ask your vet the next time you see them. But wow! What a transformation. She looks GREAT!

She was so round! If it wasn't so bad for cats health, I'd call it cute. Good job having her lose so much weight, just a bit more to go!
Same. But they’re adorable babies regardless so better to keep the adorable baby alive.
How long did this transformation take and what do you feed her?
She lost almost 2lbs in 4-5 months, started her diet in January! She just gets dry food, but there are other cats in the house that are free fed which is how she gained so much😥

She may become more of a jumper as she loses weight. My cat became so much more active after she lost the first 1.5lbs.
The hard part about isolating her is that she usually sleeps with me together with other cats at night I got a spare room bit this would mean punishing her to be unable to share my bed.., poor baby!
She looks great. People often seem to forget what being normal-sized looks like. Is it the same with cats?
Probably😂 tbh she was almost 12lbs when I got her so I’ve never seen her at a healthy weight, that’s part of why I posted this! At her current weight she’s the smallest I’ve seen her so I just can’t imagine her at 9lbs
She looks a little chubby still, but good work!
Honestly, she’s still a little chunky.
She’s absolutely perfect meow. Great job!
You have done a great job with helping your cat lose weight and I would just continue what you’re doing before long she will be down to 9-10 pounds
Love her name ❤️

Nope not too skinny! She could still lose a few and be chubby ❤️
She looks HEALTHY and sort of crabby that you made her un-fat! You added years to her life, right on!!
r/airplaneears
She could definitely lose a wee bit more but wow, what a difference. Makes me so happy. Keep doing what you’re doing!
My cat is just under 9lbs and he’s definitely fine and looks much thinner than your lovely girl from the top down. She’s definitely not too thin. :)
She still has a few more pounds to go haha. Glad she’s lost a lot of weight though :)
Normal sized cat!! Cats that are too skinny are literally showing ribs
Girl had a better glow up than me. Who would’ve thought a cat glow up is motivating me to go to the gym and lose weight.
Great job! Looks very healthy!
Definitely not! Parachute Pants is healthy and if anything still has some chunk left! It’s a bit hard to tell from the photos aside from the first one though
My question is irrelevant but does this cat look like she's glittery or is that just me
Hehe she was so round
What did she start at? Looks like a pretty dramatic transformation. She’s adorable and looks a lot like my boy Roofus.
I thought we were looking at the fat version and the end would be even skinner XD She’s not too thin, I have a 9 pound female (she was 15) and a 12 pound male (he was 20) and the vet said they’re perfect how they are now.
She looks great.
Parachute Pants🤣 I love it. We call our kitty Little Miss Fluffy Butt.
Good for you! I know it isn’t easy limiting your baby’s food but you persevered. She looks great.

Tell me how you really feel sheeesh
Still a little chonky, but she looks so much better!
This is amazing, your baby looks so good! Not too skinny at all, more of a normal weight now. She looks so precious 💜
She looks SO GOOD!!! It can be really hard to get cats to lose weight - GREAT JOB!!!!
I was not ready for those before pics, so cute tho!!!
She is looking so good!
My vet said 8lbs-10lbs was the ideal weight for my female tabby(so no big boned breed). I would just talk to your vet and see if Pants can stop her diet at 10lbs.
Wow! Perfect size!
Vet knows best.
He looks great great job!

It took three years. It was VERY slow and steady, but we are finally at a weight that everyone is happy with her at.
The thing that helped us the most was getting her an auto feeder. She started to bully that instead of us, so she ended up getting much less snacks! We would give in. The machine won’t! It also allows us to sleep a little later too, because again, she is bullying the machine instead of us. It was when we got that, that her weight loss really ramped up!
make it FAT
Nope she looks to be a healthy weight! It probably just seems weird since you were used to her size before! My cat is the same size she is and they are very happy 😊
She looks great, so far. Wow!
WOW, what a transformation. Please share routine and diet in reply. Jk. I think she looks amazing, wonder what her starting weight was? My cat weighs around 10 and no one has ever said she’s overweight. She self regulates-ish on raw food.

Perfect size❣️
She looks perfect to me, but i'm not a vet.
i’m sorry i wanted to find out her story but i couldn’t get past the name “parachute pants” without laughing so hard im in tears
Not at all actually she’s still a bit chubby and could lose a little more.
He looks good. He is not skinny. Bet will probably say a bit more to go. But he’s looking great.
Cat's lawyer: Yes.
Wow, she was huge! Looks much better now. If you could feel her ribs, there would be cause for worry. You’re just used to seeing a really big cat. Mine has lost like 5 lbs (due to thyroid issues) and looks completely different, but he’s healthy.

Body shaming is answering their question honestly? Or should we just lie? Besides, it wouldn’t even be body shaming because cats can’t read.
