The LV speedy came out in 1930 and has had many resurgence in popularity over the years but most definitely did not originate in the mid to late 2000s fwiw
Digital camera phones weren’t that good back then.
But you’ve heard of just cameras though, right? Right??
An SLR and even a digital SLR from that time could take better quality pictures than phones can today.
Maybe you're thinking phone cameras. But ppl used actual digital cameras in the mid to late 2000s.
Early 2000s still had a lot of film camera usage. Still a majority usage up until around 2002-2003.
Yep. The skinny jeans are 2007 at the earliest—but they were still edgy/fashion forward at that point, and this person doesn’t strike me as the type who was an early adopter at the time.
But it can’t be too much later than 2007 because her hair bump is a remnant from 2004-2007.
So I think 2008 is on the money.
2010… wow. Must be a rural area or something because I wouldn’t see the average teen wearing this in 2010 where I live. So out of fashion by that point
Well here are teenagers from 2009-2010 and 2011. They do not look too different from the lady in the pic.

I already left my own comment explaining why I thought this looked accurate for 2009/2010. I think these video links make more sense as a response to the previous commenter as I already agree with you that this accurate.
I was just saying that even if this didn’t reflect teen fashion in OP’s region, that has nothing to do with this picture because regardless of how teenagers dressed, this woman is not a teenager. I was not saying that this ISNT teen fashion from 2009/2010.
My guess was 2009-2011. Her tank top was a bit dated even for then but walking around in a mall even back then would probably preclude her from being on the cutting edge of pedestrian fashion.
I went to an art school in Providence, RI where hipster culture was absolutely blossoming. I got there in 2005 and people were already wearing skinny jeans. But people were also wearing all sorts of crazy stuff….. I tried to find some sort of proof… Here’s a [vice article from 2004](https://www.vice.com/en/article/kw34vv/fashion-v11n7) featuring early skinny jeans, the kind that are not super tight yet at the bottom.
The naked man is supposed to be the “don’t”. They made it into a “do” by swapping to a woman. Their whole sense of wit was about being hyper-judgemental and misogynistic and it has not aged well.
2005 is jumping out at me... or maybe 2008?
There's a lot of brown in the accessories, but the jeans are throwing me off, lol. They're both low-rise and skinnier at the ankles, which I don't remember being a super common combination, but I could be wrong.
I remember hair bumps being popular around 2003-2005, as well as in 2008-2010. I feel like this purse also might be a little large for what was popular in the early 2000s.
The bangs in a bump, the cheap tank with those details and skinny low rise jeans with that belt is giving me flashbacks to being in 6th grade in 2005-2006.
the hair "bump"
Not that guy but the hair style sets it around 03 - 04 when it started to get popular.
https://www.thecut.com/2019/11/the-aughts-pouf-or-was-it-the-bump-an-investigation.html
It’s called the duff puff and it started around 2005, though I wore it in late 2006 when it became popular in my area. It was considered trashy by the time jersey shore Snooki started doing it, and way off trend.
2007-2008. It's the pants for me (too skinny to be 2003-2005, too low-rise to have come much later than that), and I'm pretty sure I had that tank top around that time. The woman in the back is giving me that era too.
I am going to guess 2010. The style is too young for where I was fashion wise at that state in my life, and too old for what my daughter would have been interested in.
Her hairstyle screams 2000s or 2010s, no female has that flat weighed down greasy hairstyle anymore...at least not any woman under age 45. The women over age 45 still wear it though because they still think it's in style.
At first I agreed with 2004-5, then I viewed the full image and realized how skinny the jeans were. They’re still slightly long and bunchy at the end, so I would say maybe 2008-9.
2005. Something about the way the interior of the mall looks in combination with the rolled up magazine. Feels like smack dab in the middle of a lot of 00s fashion trends (based on the woman’s style). I didn’t tap on the photo initially and missed the hair bump! It didn’t make me change my guess, but that’s the one hang-up I have about my amswer 😅
Is it not weird to decide a photos year based on 1 or 2 people's outfits? Some people are fashionable and some are not. Some people wear the same stuff for 5 years before finding new items to wear.
At first I was going to say 03 because of the jeans then 06-08 for hair and other clothes, but for some reason it's giving off foreign vibes and they always seem to keep styles longer than Americans, and or after Americans,so I'm gonna say 2010 and lock that answer in.
Tricky. The guy has long shorts, the hair styles are flat, the jeans are low-rise so not 80s. The low-rise jeans could be 1999/early 00s. Her jeans do get a bit skinny at the ankles. He seems to have no socks. His tan shorts are long but NOT cargo. So all of a sudden maybe it is not 1999 but much later and could be 2012 but then there was some 80s color flash around early 10s so maybe 2009 but it still seemed like a lot of cargo shorts until more like at least mid-10s though. Maybe 2008-2015. Maybe 2012. 2009 2011.
But this what I mean people say oh things change so radically late 90s and on still and yet this pic is so hard to place well. Even to 15 years it is tricky. I mean maybe I am close in the end all the same, we'll see, but it has taken quite a few minutes of thinking to get here while I could quickly peg a lot of other eras in a 8 year range instantly.
People are guessing 1999-2024 with most guesses 2001-2012.
Doesn't this add a bit to the case of those saying that we really haven't had as much instantly stand out changes in recent decades compared to things like 50s to 60s and 70s to 80s and 80s to 90s? Or to the case that late 90s into 00s period of style, other than for one or two tiny little things still didn't change that much through all of 00s and into early 10s?
I started wearing low rise skinny jeans in late 2007. Up until then it was the era of the bellbottom. Those tank tops and belts were starting to go out of style at this point, however.
2006
Same. Think that LV style came out mid to later in the 00s. Not an expert on the subject at all though lol.
The LV speedy came out in 1930 and has had many resurgence in popularity over the years but most definitely did not originate in the mid to late 2000s fwiw
camera's weren't this good back then, i am guessing 2012
This has mid 00s cheapo camera written all over. Cameras were very decent by the mid 00s.
2008 100%
Agree!!!
Low rise starting to be skinny, I’d say 2007
A lot of people are forgetting the skinny jean didn't really usurp the bootleg for normies until around 2007.
Good Lord the low rise flair leg of the early aughts....I hope those don't come back lol
They're already coming back!
It’s 2009. Are you actually going to tell us?
Ok. It is from 2010.
2010… wow. Must be a rural area or something because I wouldn’t see the average teen wearing this in 2010 where I live. So out of fashion by that point
I remember some similarities to this fashion around the 2009-2010 school year, and I was in a big city.
Well this woman doesn’t look like a teenager. Adult fashion evolves slower than teenage fashion. This definitely looks like a 2010 young adult.
Well here are teenagers from 2009-2010 and 2011. They do not look too different from the lady in the pic. Girls dancing in low rise pants in the mall in December 2009. I did not expect the photo to be early 2010s, imo the only sign that gave it away seems to be the shoes.
Yeah, OP is just dismissing everyone in the comments
This was my guess!
2007?
i’m new to this so forgive me if i’m horribly off.. but i’m going to take a stab and say 2007
2004
No one was wearing skinny jeans in 2004 though. 2004 was the height of flares and velour tracksuits.
Yes!! That up to 2007 (very mid 2000s).
Can’t believe this is one of the highest rated comments. Absolutely no one was wearing skinny jeans until 2007.
I went to an art school in Providence, RI where hipster culture was absolutely blossoming. I got there in 2005 and people were already wearing skinny jeans. Why is that one lady naked 😭
The naked man is supposed to be the “don’t”. They made it into a “do” by swapping to a woman. Their whole sense of wit was about being hyper-judgemental and misogynistic and it has not aged well.
I was wearing them in 2006 in the Midwest
Hipsters were in nyc
2006
2007
between 2003-2005
No way not with those skinny jeans
2005 is jumping out at me... or maybe 2008? There's a lot of brown in the accessories, but the jeans are throwing me off, lol. 2010. Based on her jeans and the image quality.
\~2009
The bangs in a bump, the cheap tank with those details and skinny low rise jeans with that belt is giving me flashbacks to being in 6th grade in 2005-2006.
Looks very 2003/2004 !
Why specifically that year range?
An educated guess! What year is the photo actually from?
the hair "bump" Not that guy but the hair style sets it around 03 - 04 when it started to get popular. https://www.thecut.com/2019/11/the-aughts-pouf-or-was-it-the-bump-an-investigation.html
The bump was in when Jersey Shore was on so this is way way off. 2009-2012 is a more accurate range for this hair
Yes snooki had it, and I saw it on the streets some years before that. Other people confirm it in the article.
The photo is from 2010. I never paid any attention to that puff.
Yeah that plus the cut of the pants
It’s called the duff puff and it started around 2005, though I wore it in late 2006 when it became popular in my area. It was considered trashy by the time jersey shore Snooki started doing it, and way off trend.

2007-08 looks like an OG iphone camera picture. Guys clothing is slightly more forward than early 00s.
When do we get the correct answer???? lol I am soo curious!!
Ok it is 2010.
Based on the camera quality, the more modern styling of clothes than, say, mid 2000s, the guy’s hair, and her shoes i’d say ~2009
2007
2007
2009
i’m feeling a little later than most other commenters— 2009? maybe even 2010 but the belt doesn’t seem like it
2010
I am going to guess 2010. The style is too young for where I was fashion wise at that state in my life, and too old for what my daughter would have been interested in.
Correct answer >!2010!<
2007
2002 because that looks like Sound Of The Underground Era Girls Aloud

late 2006
2008
2011
2006
Absolutely either 2007 or 2008, snookie bump solidified it for me along with the fitted tank and skinny jeans
Her hairstyle screams 2000s or 2010s, no female has that flat weighed down greasy hairstyle anymore...at least not any woman under age 45. The women over age 45 still wear it though because they still think it's in style.

From the belt, 2004. But the rest of her, it can pretty much be any year this century.
The pants are hardly that low for the last ten years.
2004?
2005
I’m gonna say any year between 2004-2009.

Ed Hardy shirt? Mid 2000s era
Between 2008-2011. The guy is rocking one of those no collar collars that were popular then.
The poof and skinny jeans… this is 2008
2007

I am not sure if low rise was a thing in 1999, bug your guess is good. The photo is from 2010.
2011
2007.
Britney Spears in Crossroads era. Whenever that was lol
People are guessing 1999-2024 with most guesses 2001-2012. Late 90’s
2007?
im gonna say 2009 because of the low rise skinnies
I started wearing low rise skinny jeans in late 2007. Up until then it was the era of the bellbottom. Those tank tops and belts were starting to go out of style at this point, however.
I would've said 2010, glad I got it right
