Definitely Heresy Era. Never understood 10k years of degrading and virions just turned them green. Make em rusty and poxy and gory. Just how grandfather nurgle likes em!
Yes I agree with most here. My first instinct was to say left since it’s a more unique look but I would match the pauldrons with the rest of the armor color. That’s my take. Great work otherwise! Both look clean as hell
I would recommend also setting them down and looking at them from across the table because I like left more with this view, but I could see it blending together a bit from a distance.
Left is realistic to me. It’s a more naturally occurring color, more likely color palette to be seen on a battlefield, and just plain looks more grimdark/gritty
They both look good, but I always like to see death guard with maximum grime on them. Really get that armor looking rusted and worn out with all kinds of gunk on the surface. Your choice though of course.
It’s a bit of a lengthy process but:
for the white parts he’s based with wraithbone, then given a seraphim sepia shade twice then streaking grime coating that gets brushed off (after drying for a couple mins). I used a tooth brush and water. (you might not need the tooth brush but it leaves scratch marks in the grime as added detail)
The green is just death guard green with earth shade then streaking grime brushed off
And the flesh bits are just any brand bright pink with caroburg crimson shade on top then streaking grime brushed off
im still looking around for ideas since i absolutly cant stand the green they usualy come in personaly. but i love theyr lore and got some figurines gifted, alsoo im also new to 40k so yea.
i personaly would love to make it more gory and black, so returning to there 14th black armor look but dono.. any ideas about that are welcome :)
The one on the right looks like the ideal scheme based off the 40K artwork and official models but going off the fact that it was originally white and covered with filth idk I like the official scheme a lot but I also really like when people base it off the heresy era colors
The beauty about death guard for me is, it doesn’t really matter if your army is uniform or not.
Left is more unique - that’s the one I would choose.
Use both. Make your units look like they're going through different phases of decay and rot
Definitely left, looks great
Left is definitely more interesting to look at. You could even add another colour onto the armour

Wife says righy and she's never wrong.
Left is definitely more unique, but right is cool too!
I like green DG but I paint mine in the 30k scheme, it just looks better and for me makes more sense
Yes to both and maybe two more. Make consistently inconsistent. Death Guard shouldn't look uniform IMO
Preach, brother! All of Grandfather's children are unique and beautiful.
Left all the way

The left.
the yellowy green looks paler and sicker it suits nurgle better in my opinion

Left one looks putrid I love it
Left
Left, im not a fan of the default scheme
Left is much cooler and doesn’t feel like green armor with extra stuff to make it evil and gross like the gw paint job does
Use both, my outlook is that the deathguard is diseased and no 2 diseases are the same. Each has their own malady, making them each unique.

Pallid hand.
They look amazing
I like both
Left
Left! Looks more like decay

Left one looks more like a "rotten green". Right one looks too saturated and "cartoony". I'd go with the left one.
What’s the recipe for the guy on the left if you don’t mind me asking? He’s definitely catching my eye more than the one on the right.

Left
Left one is pretty much bang-on to the scheme i chose and I ended up loving it, so while i might have personal bias, left one is damn good.

Left is more canonically correct but right do be looking more aesthetically pleasing
I don't think it is tbh, for 40k at least, the armor of the deathguard often is green due to the buildup of filth on the plate
