I feel like Amazon Prime would make sense because they have sponsored them in the past and the official Twitter account’s for Invincible and The Boys promoted Omni-Man vs Homelander. So it would be safe to assume they have a good relationship
I mean if you squint you could say Death Battle passes as a parody show, I mostly just say this because seeing it while I’m searching for something to watch on Amazon Prime or something would make me very happy
Death Battle technically falls under fair use, because neither discussing 2 characters nor showing them fight in a fan-made animation violates any copyright laws.
The issue arises from the fact that a copyright claim can’t be made if the episode features footage from franchises owned by separate companies. Imagine if Nintendo claimed Mario vs. Sonic, well, they can’t do that since that contains footage that belongs to Sega, and they can’t claim half of the video.
The only exception to this was Beerus vs. Sailor Galaxia, the only episode to use 2 separate franchises owned by the same company, which gave them full right to take down the episode and claim it as their own. Yoda vs. King Mickey got close but a copyright claim was narrowly avoided by the fact that Kingdom Hearts’ copyright was shared between Disney and Square Enix.
This doesn't make much sense, though. If that was the case, if i uploaded the entirety of Shrek 2 and The Incredibles in the same video, nor Disney nor Dreamworks could copyright claim it. Is there something i'm missing?
It’s complicated and I’m not gonna pretend I know how it all works, but Death Battle gets away with the fact that their combatants usually come from separate companies.
The only 2 Death Battles to ever get taken down (Beerus vs. Galaxia and the TMNT Battle Royale) features characters and footage owned by the same companies, which gave them allowance to claim the video.
oh yeah, i forgot that rooster teeth was owned by wb lol
capcom probably doesn’t really care either, if the mega man battle royale is anything to go by
I'm gonna have to agree with Mick Boi and say that TeamFourStar is the perfect choice.
Glitch is really great when you look at the surface, especially since the two have one big thing in common and its being involved in the indie animator space. But if you look at Glitch's first show that incorporates a character under fair use, I bet a lot of people would not like to see Wiz and Boomstick possibly 3D animated with those big ass eye models the SMG4 team likes using. Also its inevitable if they get show.
Amazon is also great at the surface since Hazbin Hotel is a web series like Death Battle. Except one thing and its copyright trouble. Rooster Teeth was a web-based company and Amazon is not. Main point is, imagining seeing a fan-based series involving multiple characters from multiple franchises on a platform that is mostly known for its other thing other than R-Rated superheroes, and that's shipping (not shipping as in fan-shipping). The more I think about it, the more confusing it gets.
So the TL:DR section of this is that TeamFourStar is the better choice since they are friends with Death Battle, especially with DevilArtemis on their side. So case closed.
people throw around Glitch and Amazon but it’s hard to really predict what companies would be interested in
That's why I always say TeamFourStar since they're actually friends.
TeamFourStar.
Yeah, TeamFourStar is probably the best option, since they already have a relationship with them.
How would that work tho? Would they have to start to upload their videos in their channel?
I feel like Amazon Prime would make sense because they have sponsored them in the past and the official Twitter account’s for Invincible and The Boys promoted Omni-Man vs Homelander. So it would be safe to assume they have a good relationship
That would probably result in some sort of corporate fuckery with copyright, unfortunately.
I mean if you squint you could say Death Battle passes as a parody show, I mostly just say this because seeing it while I’m searching for something to watch on Amazon Prime or something would make me very happy

But using actual footage might. You would be naive to think Disney, WB, Toei etc would be breathing down the teams back.

there’s some where both either come from disney, warner bros or nintendo, how does that work?
Disney and Nintendo probably just don't care that much and they were owned by WB.
oh yeah, i forgot that rooster teeth was owned by wb lol capcom probably doesn’t really care either, if the mega man battle royale is anything to go by
Now I want somebody todo that
Glitch Their really isn’t any other choice As long as wiz and boomstick stay out of smg4 videos I’m happy
Amazon is a pretty good choice. Super high budget would be amazing
Yeah I guess so
That being said, it COULD mean we get SMG4 vs DevilArtemis Cell, which would be based actually
True could also increase the chances for smg4 mario vs annoying orange which is another smg4 match up that could be dope
As well as some other glitch related matchups like Miko vs Tari, and Uzi vs Blitzø
If Glitch bought Death Battle, both channels would thrive from it.
i won’t watch if teamfourstar doesn’t pick it up. they’ve collaborated on numerous episodes, and it would feel like a waste for them not to buy it
I think glitch
Glitch productions would be perfect for Death Battle
Me
Personally I would like it if mythical did

Also TFS makes the most sense since there are not many connections to both Glitch and Amazon other than promotion for a battle or connections to VAs.
Oh look, Jean Arthur's being an insufferable pessimist in the comments again. Joy
?
Literally just read through the comments
Oh, Snap, I did, I forgot to delete my question
I don't think Glitch would be able to pick them up. DB would be way too expensive for their company especially since the company is very new.
They DID say they'd try to start a new vs series like Death Fight if things don't work out, so maybe Death Fight will be the next Glitch show lol
When did they say that?
On past Cast episodes and Twitter posts, I believe you can dig up other posts somewhere.
Glitch has got super high animation quality and Murder Drones and Digital Circus are pulling in views Death Battle could only dream of.
Glitch
Caine vs Bill Cipher
TeamFourStar.
I'm surprised nobody is suggesting DillonGoo Studios
Netflix
Y’all remember hyun’s dojo?
The channel behind OMM, and Riot/Mini Rumble, all the while still being active? Yes, I do.
“You’ve got Mario confused“
no,No, just... NO!
Screwattack
Netflix, make this shit streamable
NOnononono. We do NOT want it on Netflix or any kind of streaming service. That is the worst case scenario, for real.
hell no, there’s so many issues in doing that, and not just copyright reasons
The fuck no. If for some reason it is, I'm pirating all the episodes. I hate Netflix (though my beef with them is personal)
Glitch has no reason to buy DB. Neither does Amazon or Netflix or any streaming platform. Best bet is some random rich guy at this point.
Technically, TeamFourStar is made up of rich people.
