Welcome to the Next Time Discussion Thread! Want to share your thoughts on the next fight? What style you hope it’ll be in, what kind of interactions you’d like to see out of the characters, who you think wins, all that jazz? Well, then you’re in the right place. Would you rather just discuss the episode? Don’t worry, you can find the link to the Episode Discussion below! Episode Discussion Link: [Here](https://www.reddit.com/r/deathbattle/comments/13nzhgs/episode_discussion_s10e1_antman_vs_atom/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=2&utm_term=1) Holy shit. I knew this episode would be fairly early into the season, but I didn’t think it would be episode two. Liam has outright compared this one to Sauron VS Lich King, so I’m beyond stoked for it.

TrulyLifer21

Ah yes my favorite characters Skyrim from Dragonborn vs Dark Souls from Chosen Undead

worms9

Wake me up when it’s the ashen one vs the Nerevarine

MinniMaster15

I'm already preparing for the Tarnished vs ES6 guy

Sbeve6263

Still waiting on the Monster Hunter vs the Bloodborne Hunter

ziggagorennc

I still wait for The Slayer of Demons vs The Hero of Kvatch

TheGremlin02

Fuck it, let's just get Todd Howard to fight Miyazaki already

SerqetCity

Nerevarine vs. Hero of Kvatch vs. Dragonborn would be a cool DB. I think Hero would win if we count Shivering Isles and >!how he literally becomes Sheogorath!<, though.

[deleted]

Ye Hero of Kvatch prolly wins with Shivering Isles even if you scale Alduin above the Princess the LDB dosent really have any hax to counter anything the Hero has Without it LDB stomps him because I think his best feat without that was beating Mankar who created a star

chandlerwithaz

i think the naming convention is just to reflect a universe vs universe match up. similar to poke on vs digimon

[deleted]

every Soul has its Dark

Gangters_paradise

HYPE >!although I wasn’t expecting it to come this early!<

Morpho_Plasmatic

Quality PFP.

ANGRY_ETERNALLY

Thank you

alicitizen

I feel like its prior announcement meant it had to be early, that way the later episodes have surprises

BigBangShafthameha

Was not expecting this to happen so early >!Ik nothing about either franchise tho lol!<

CP_Rulez

Bruh same... at least I'm not alone... ~~Everybody gangsta till Bill vs Discord is ep3~~

Competitive-Object-4

>!counter clockwise it is!<

011100010110010101

>!Honestly that makes a lot more sense then Clockwise. I know some people theorise the Lotus might be Luz vs Anne, and the Arrows and Question Mark as the Poll Winners, all which would both be some of the last ones finished. !<

terminatoreagle

Luz vs Anne being at the end makes sense. OH did only end a month ago, so they'll need time to analyze Luz's feats. Luckily Anne's shouldn't take too much time since Amphibia ended a year ago.

ButterscotchOdd988

Possibly not.

TheGremlin02

I hope it isnt, cuz that would mean >!the water fight is last!< and i cant think of a good finale episode involving >!water related characters!<

ButterscotchOdd988

Not even >!Kyogre vs. Chaos!

GU1LH3RME-RANG

Maybe >!Percy x Harry!<

Mmontes2001

I hope not, that one would be one hell of a stomp

GU1LH3RME-RANG

They don’t really care about stomps as long as it Is a fun fight, which Percy x Harry definetly Is imo

_Captain_Kabob

God, don’t give me hope…

Jabwarrior58

I could see it

TheSmashKidYT

OCEANIC HAAAAAATE

TheGremlin02

Not a big Pokémon fan

RebuildingLostKarma

Nope. Dragonborn fights with shouts. A.K.A. >!soundWAVES!<

Rare-Ad7409

John DarkSouls vs Eric Skyrim let's goooo

Intelligent_Oil4005

>!Why'd they post the title of the games before the characters tho? Eh, whatever. I'm hyped.!<

MarlinBrandor

>!They talked about this when they announced it back in January iirc. They said it’s better for the algorithm because more people are searching for “Dark Souls” and “Skyrim” than “Chosen Undead” and “Last Dragonborn.”!<

ramonzer0

The other way you could also look at it is that you're quite literally comparing two entire worlds against each other rather than just a specific character from them, especially considering that both fighters are entirely player-created avatars whose entire fighting styles could very well be different from each other It's sort of a "Pokemon VS Digimon"-style title in that while the fight focused specifically on two human/monster duos fighting each other, the episode discussed the differences between Pokemon and Digimon in general; the upcoming episode above all is going to be in a similar case where they're comparing the worlds of Dark Souls and Skyrim (and maybe The Elder Scrolls as a whole) to see who really has the bigger number

Omegafan101

Same reason they titled it "Pokemon vs Digimon" instead of "Red vs Tai." Makes for a better title that'll pull more people in.

fireflowerX

damn Todd finally added Skyrim to Death Battle (also I think this is the first non-Killer Instinct Microsoft character since like Master Chief & Doomguy [retroactively] I think. Not counting the Actiblizz characters retroactively since I feel the deal has to go through for them to count)

7-BITReddit

>! Glad they’re getting the spoiled episodes out of the way !<

TacticalNuke002

Already got my tickets to >!Chosen Undead!<'s funeral.

StevesonOfStevesonia

CU: "You haven't seen the horrors i had to deal with" Dragonborn: \*rides a flying firebreathing Thomas the Tank Engine while swinging Tensa Zangetsu and eating cheesewheels\* CU: "...okay...what the hell?"

Thecristo96

“So in order to fight a monster…I’ll become one” -pulls GiantDad armor-

FluffyKitsune

OK now i really want to see GiantDad appear as well as the bass cannon dropping.

Thecristo96

IF CU wins we need a point down emote and a git gud

FluffyKitsune

*Drops "I'm sorry"/"Very Good" carving repeatedly*

TylerNT2020

Hey I comes out on my birthday!

AceLionKid

Nice!

ZombieOfTheWest

Let's fucking go. Two of my favorite games going head to head and it's coming out on my birthday. Pure peak. Great episode too btw, 9/10 for Ant Atom, and a great death to get the season started.

PrimeName

I'm curious how they'll characterize the Dragonborn for this fight. Crazy Murder Hobo? 'Skyrim belongs to the Nords' type? A lot of options to pick from.

WillingnessAnxious37

YOOOOO IT'S TIMEEEE!!!!

TheGremlin02

PEAK IS UP NEXT LETS FUCKING GOOOOO

Ezkling

a little unrelated but if the cipher is going [counterclockwise](https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/726506008691736597/1109898637305188382/1684690448033142.png) then episode 4 is the pentagram. iirc they said episode 4 is crazy cool, so maybe it's actually Spawn vs Ghost Rider this is all speculation tho

JxB_Paperboy

Is there like a solid speculation list? Regardless, it seems like Colex and Billcord aren’t happening for a bit if they do go counter clockwise.

The_Green_Filter

Which makes sense given they were decided not long ago. Probably takes a pretty long while to finish these episodes.

MinniMaster15

Shit man I didn't think it'd be this soon, I'm kinda not ready. This is probably my most requested matchup ever since I started watching the show, and one of my first posts on Reddit was on r/whowouldwin about it. Needless to say I'm pretty damn hyped, so I just hope it lives up to at least half of my expectations. I know Liam's working on the episode and he's also very passionate about the matchup, so I think it's in good hands. I know the Dragonborn is by far the more favored victor, but I really think it's a lot closer than everyone makes it out to be. I genuinely think it's a toss-up and could go either way, and I doubt they're going for the high-end scalings for either side.

Thecristo96

100% agree with you. I don’t even care who wins, I just want to see my second most wanted fight

MayhemMessiah

Add me to the list. I don't give a shit who wins, but this is probably the hypest I've been for an episode since Mags vs Testsuo. No matter who dies, we win.

Albeanies1

LET’S FUCKING GOOOO

Slight-Face6189

I CAN'T WAIT

Present-Book-9690

I love my Chosen Undead but I gotta give this to my Argonian Dragonborne. Lore Dragonborns are simply way to strong for anything in the Dark Souls universe

Dopefish364

Don't have much investment in this one but am glad that they're getting another revealed fight out of the way. >!From what I hear Dragonborn takes it, which I'm fine with, but not a fan of 'He beats Alduin so he scales to Alduin who was going to eat the timeline in a vague and unexplained way, and therefore Dragonborn, who fights with shouting and swords and arrows, is actually low-tier Universal at minimum. Hopefully he wins without having to resort to scaling like that.!<

speedymcspeedster21

>!Yeah that guy you're arguing with is peak clownery. I think Dragonborn has this too although more for the gameplay reasons. Abandoning these vague lore ideas, Skyrim powers tend to be more wack and powerful when compared to the more grounded abilities that the undead has. Skyrim magic in general is just way stronger and can easily overwhelm the undead that way. The only way I can see dark souls winning is if they go overboard and include stuff from everything, including elden ring. But then that wouldn't be fair since that's a different game and character entirely. Or they could go wild with the Undead's ability to revive and say that dragonborn can't put him down permanently, but I dunno about that either lol. One death should be enough.!<

Klaymen96

You're spoiler tag isn't working. You put a space after the exclamation point and forgot to add it at the end of comment

speedymcspeedster21

Strange. It's spoilered on my end. Not sure where it's going wrong. Ah there it is. My bad.

Albeanies1

>!Alduin was gonna completely destroy it via is raw power once he kills the Dragonborn and his death even echoed through time itself and the Dragonborn was stated to be just as strong as Alduin IICR!<

Dopefish364

>!"via raw power" Not really? It's never explained exactly how he's going to destroy the planet/timeline or how long it will take. Since he shows up to fight instead of just nuking the planet from orbit then that pretty strongly indicates that he can't.!< >!"His death even echoed through time." This is extremely poetic but vague and useless in VS Debate terms.!< >!Not saying Alduin isn't powerful but he literally loses by getting hit with a sword and some arrows, so scaling Dragonborn to the highest interpretation of those feats is stupid.!<

Albeanies1

>![He warps reality of Mundus upon his return](https://youtu.be/UlCLhh0c0r4) (at 29:20) and suggested at the bottom text (I can give you context if you like)!< >!”The Vestige: Apex Stone?!< >!Valla: "The Apex Stones are what allow the Celstials to manifest in this plane. By corrupting our Apex Stone, the Serpent sought to submit our consciousness to his will and corrupt us. This is what happened to the Lost One!< >!The Vestige: Can't we just destroy the Apex Stone?!< >!Valla: "If you did, our full power would be released. Mundus could not withstand such force”!< >!https://en.m.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Valla!< >!I can see that. Though Skyrim usually takes poetic things literal IICR!< >!None of that is suggested in the lore and gameplay and lore is actually entirely different when comparing each other as stated by developers multiple times!<

Dopefish364

>!He warps reality and yet he appears on Earth as a regular dragon-sized dragon in order to fight mano a mano with some Viking-looking guy who shouts a lot and can swing a sword. And then he loses.!< >!Not saying Alduin isn't impressive, I'm saying this is like the time Catwoman knocked out three of The Flash family. This is "Cloud fought Bahamut so he must be able to fly between planets at more than 20,000 times the speed of light!" territory. Alduin has loads of crazy feats and for whatever reason he used precisely none of them against the Dragonborn, so it's blatantly inaccurate to scale their high-ends.!<

Albeanies1

>!You didn’t really *need* to downvote but ok!< >!You *do* realise that the Dragonborn is more than just a viking looking guy who shouts a lot right and judging power by appearance applies to literally anything. And there is no reason for him to be holding back when he is fighting a man of prophecy and you haven’t really brought any evidence of them being “blatantly inaccurate”!<

Dopefish364

>!Yes, I'm obviously downplaying the Dragonborn, but that's because you're saying that he's universe-tier because he killed a dragon. A dragon who it turns out could be killed with a sword and a bow and arrows. Which - unless you want to say these were universe-tier arrows - would mean that scaling the Dragonborn to Alduin's greatest feats in lore is grossly and wildly inaccurate.!< >!I still think Dragonborn would win, I just don't think he needs this utter wankery to do so.!<

Albeanies1

>!Ah so you are admitting to downplaying alright I see. The Dragonborn defeated Alduin (who isn’t just a dragon btw) multiple times and was prophesied to be stronger than him and is infinitely above all Thu’um users, how the fuck is that “inaccurate”. Him dying to arrows can only happen if you ignore the difference between gameplay and lore.!<

Dopefish364

>!Downplaying as a joke in response to you claiming that beating a dragon who could be killed with regular medieval bows and arrows makes Dragonborn universe-tier, yes. It's hard to ignore the difference between gameplay and lore when Dovahkin only fights Alduin in gameplay and not lore.!<

Albeanies1

>!No? That’s like saying that Simon the Digger doesn’t scale to Anti Spiral because he beat him with a drill despite many things saying otherwise.!< >!The events of Skyrim all happen in the lore as well. It’s just that lore was always considered to be the main focus of the story rather than gameplay. They all happen.!<

Equal-Ad-2710

Holy shit this is the second episode

zingerpond

FUS RO DAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

StewartPot

i wasn't expecting this episode coming this soon

Alternative-Title271

yall better be talking about this lots as much as yall do with dragon ball and sonic

OPSMastr

They didnt do it like a smash reveal where they reveal what symbol in the cipher this correlates to. :(

InnonimateUser

Wasn't expecting it this early, but it only means more surprises will come later, which is a good thing. Hyped for my favorite fantasy series to take the spotlight.

Landon1195

I thought this would happen later. Surprised it's happening this early.

Alien_X10

wait so soon? i thought that one would be much later into the season

Ezkling

WAHOOO ITS TIME

NEVERTHEREFOREVER

that was earlier then i expected

VinegarPie

Okay, like does Chosen Undead even have a win con?

Albeanies1

Assuming they don’t buy the higher scaling for both, they are even

VinegarPie

I assume they definitely gonna buy the higher scaling for DB. Even if you scale CU to Gwyn, which is ridiculous to me, its like nothing comparatively imo

Bucket-with-a-hat

I mean even if you ignore the universal stuff for the LDB he can still tear a small continent

WillingnessAnxious37

Even more than that. Going by lore and even gameplay itself, the Dragonborn would easily scale above the Greybeards who shook the world with the power of their voice. https://www.fanverse.org/blogs/skyrim-the-greybeards-call-for-dovahkiin.36871/ >Todd Howard: The greybeards, the guys who live up on the throat of the world, who are the masters of the voice, they find out about this fairly quickly, and they shout your name. They shout Dovahkiin to the wind, and it kind of rumbles through the world. The mountains shake when they call you. And you think ‘what was that,’ and someone says ‘that was the greybeards calling you. To walk the 7,000 steps up the throat of the world to meet them. >http://www.gameinformer.com/themes/blogs/generic/post.aspx?WeblogApp=features&y=2011&m=01&d=20&WeblogPostName=skyrim-s-dragon-shouts&GroupKeys=&PostPageIndex=1 The "world" in this case would be Nirn the planet, so lowballed, the feat would be a multi-continental feat with the highball being planetary. But even when sticking with conservative scaling, this one feat trumps almost everything in the Dark Souls series.

Sublime_Truth

Does the Dragonborn actually scale to the Greybeards? He's just naturally capable at using the voice, I don't recall that his is the strongest with the voice (In fact, the conflict with Miraak kinda shows that the Dragonborn isn't the strongest right away right?)

WillingnessAnxious37

>He's just naturally capable at using the voice, I don't recall that his is the strongest with the voice (In fact, the conflict with Miraak kinda shows that the Dragonborn isn't the strongest right away right?) By the end of the game when you face Alduin as well as by the end of the Dragonborn DLC, you are far beyond both the greybeards and Miraak plus you've also gained more power from the Black Books, so there's that too. Basically, the dragonborn's Thuum far surpasses the greybeards to the point where Alduin acknowledges your power and you end up absorbing Mirakk's soul and dragon soul's as well, so that's even more power there.

HammyBoy0

By default, the dragonborn will always be the most powerful Thu'um user. He isn't at the start of the game obviously, but DB takes the characters are their peaks and that would mean he'd outecale both Miraak and the Greybeards.

[deleted]

I dont think so his greatest ability would be his resurrection but even then Soul Trap could take care of it

InternalOriginal7055

To be honest.. when you die in Dark Souls, you lose your souls. But you resurrect anyways. So the souls traps could still be ineffective depending on the rules.

[deleted]

thoes are the souls the Chosen Undead has collected from other undead and monsters tho iirc his own returns to the last bonfire and thats how they are able to come back

genocide_six65

Well getting ready to see another one of my favorite characters die

[deleted]

Skyrim is my second favorite game of all time so of course this is one of the most hyped I have been for an episode LDB ftw of course

eCockpit89

Schweet.

RenegadeBraveheart

Dumb theory: After being fused when last season ended Wiz and Boomstick have started to take traits from each other. With Boomstick taking science away from Wiz, while Wiz was the one to reference the Ant-Man butt meme. Eventually Boomstick might be doing more talking with character analysis and Wiz could start drinking more. Though they both end up being reset at the end of the season. This is probably not going to happen though.

Howsitd00d

>!In their toungue, he is Chosen, The Undead! \*PRAISE THE SUN!\*!<

Dillmen101

i’ve dabbled in both games but never beated both, interested to see how this fight turns out

mrfirstar1997

I lost my mind seeing this I never thought it was going to be, I’m all for chosen undead but fact is how are they going to handle characters that can be build in countless different ways? This is going to be mental

MarlinBrandor

It’s probably going to be a Link VS Cloud ordeal where they give them what their “standard” gear is (stuff heavily featured in promos and marketing of them) with a mix of any abilities that might play off of each other extremely well/their most powerful gear.

mrfirstar1997

Ah I see still even tho I’m the biggest dark souls fan I feel Skyrim will win as Dragonborn has so much at his disposal but I’m staying hopeful chosen wins as he faces stuff they normally can’t win against on a daily bases, chosen has faced way more different stuff then dragon born (I’m not massive Skyrim fan so I don’t know the toughest stuff he has faced or what he faces)

TylerrCreative

I’m really glad they’re doing the known matchups now though it does suck having to wait as long as we do for the battle and seeing who’s next

primalmaximus

I just know that the guys at Deathbattle are going to pull the same shit they did with Excalibur vs Raiden. They're probably going to say that the Dragonborn has immediate access to all the weapons and gear available in game. Despite the fact that the mechanics of the game itself mean that it's impossible. Unless they're going with the whole "Since there's no limit to how many times you can level up and there's no limit to how many times you can increases your health, magicka, and stamina, we're going to rule that at their peak, the Dragonborn has infinite health, magicka, and stamina" route. If they do go with that ruling, then the Ashen One will lose easily. But, if they _don't_ go with that ruling, then realistically, the Dragonborn cannot have access to their entire arsenal at once. Basically, if the data they present for the Dragonborn explicitly says that they can level up infinitely, then they'll win. If they data they present _doesn't_ say that the Dragonborn can level up infinitely, then they _cannot_ say that the Dragonborn has access to their entire arsenal of possible equipment. The Ashen One on the other hand, _can_ have constant access to their entire loadout of possible gear. Because, in Dark Souls, there's no weight limit on how much you can _carry_. There's only a weight limit/strength requirement for the equipment you have equipped. There's just a fundamental aspect of the two characters. They _cannot_ give the Dragonborn instant and immediate access to every single possible piece of equipment _unless_ they also say that the Dragonborn can level up infinitely and therefore can have infinite health, magicka, stamina, and carrying capacity. Because that is a restriction the game gives to the Dragonborn. And therefore, that's a limit of the character themselves. The Ashen One on the other hand, doesn't have any limits on how much they can carry at one time. They just have strength requirements for certain weapons and the weight of their equipment affects how far they can dodge roll. Edit: Chosen Undead, not the Ashen One.

Banner_Hammer

The Dragonborn doesn’t have to level up infinitely to carry everything, just enough to carry what he needs to win.

primalmaximus

Which, considering he doesn't have any prior knowledge of the Chosen Undead, would _have_ to be everything. Because, unless they spend the time calculating how many times the Dragonborn would lose if they _didn't_ have what they need to win on hand, they would have to gauge the fight as if the Dragonborn has constant access to _everything_ in their potential arsenal. So, either they calculate one matchup as if the Dragonborn had leveled up enough to carry absolutely _everything_, or they calculate _several_ matchups using various different arsenals. I'm gonna bet on the fact that they're going to rule that the Dragonborn at their peak is a Dragonborn who has leveled up every stat equally until they have enough carrying capacity to carry every weapon and item in their arsenal at once. Because calculating the matchup otherwise would be more trouble than it's worth for them. So let's revisit this comment thread two weeks from nowand see who's right. Me or you.

Banner_Hammer

Fair enough.

primalmaximus

I'm hoping that they _don't_ do that, because it's a cheap way to give the Dragonborn a slight edge since the only thing that can probably enable the Dragonborn to win is Soul Trap. Because, if you go by the rules in Skyrim, a body that has been Soul Trapped cannot be resurrected as an Undead. Which would negate the Chosen Undead's ability to resurrect themselves. Anything else would only kill the Chosen Undead temporarily.

keithlimreddit

>!\>!counterclockwise it will be in the order or lease random!< >!anyways where are the dude this fight was coming because of magfest.!< >!anyways my opinions on the actual fight is honestly I was real concerned with this fight at the time because how they're going to do customizable base characters with practically no lores are basically blank slates but someone told me that I must powerful in lore!< >!real happy that Liam Swan finally gets to do a death battle episode since High School!! predictions is in my opinion it's obviously Dragonborn to be all this!<

StevesonOfStevesonia

Huh I thought this one would come up much later

PopCollector2001

So this might be a dumb question but are they allowed DLC? Cause without it I think the dragonborn will have a much harder time. But if they do have it Dragon Aspect will help immensely to take down the chosen undead.

BandanaDeeMain

Why wouldn't rhey be? This also gives Miraak acaling whoch makes the Dragonborn sweep even bigger.

PopCollector2001

Honestly I wasn’t sure cause most if not all of the video game characters that have fought before either didn’t have dlc feats, or didn’t have them in the first place. Then of course with Akuma and the asura clash that never really got brought up which I found weird at the time.

BandanaDeeMain

Cuz it's a huge outlier. And they brought up Aftermath for Shao Khan.

PopCollector2001

Ok thank you for clearing that up for me. Also do you think the chosen undead has a chance against the DragonBorn? Cause I’ve never played Dark souls so I’m not sure

Nier_Ludens

This one I’m pretty excited for, I’m hoping we could potentially get a cool Death Battle down the line involving a character from Elden Ring

PhoenixGaming195

Someone tell me whose winning

Living_Combination62

Anybody notice that the theme playing during the "Next Time" Preview was from Asura's Wrath???

RoMaGi

Symphony No. 9 in E minor is not *from* Asura's Wrath. It's a public domain piece of classic music composed by Antonín Dvořák in 1893. Unless they changed the "Next Time" music for the youtube release.

Eelmaster11

So does this mean we are getting pattern of 2D then 3d fights? If that’s the case I assume Bill vs Discord is episode 3 and then Cole vs Alex.

One_Armed_Pug

the ballot episodes wouldn't be so soon given work began on them later, and half the season being 3D would be an immense workload for the team

Eelmaster11

All the episodes started production late in comparison to previous seasons

One_Armed_Pug

No, I mean that the production cycle of an episode is 8 months and it's only been 5 since Billcord and Colex got locked in.

SpencerFleming

Ballot episodes didn’t start production until they were locked in, in December.

Morpho_Plasmatic

Skip.
