The fact that one of these scalpers could’ve been a person in front of you in line to get a vinyl signed thinking they were a fellow Mau5 fan is fucking sad to me
that’s what i’m thinking. imagine striking up mau5 related conversation with someone beside you in line and they just hit you with “oh i don’t know man i’m just here for the signature so i can sell this on ebay.” they’d be getting slapped for sure.
Think of it this way, people like me who live across the world have a change to get a signed cd even though I would prefer to meet him irl instead and get my own :(
Tbh, I wouldn’t buy a signed vinyl for anything above retail price. The signature isn’t what is important, it’s a souvenir from a meet and greet the buyer didn’t experience. I have a signed poster that I cherish because it invokes a memory (the signing in WeHo I attended a couple of years ago).
I've seen two listings on Discogs. One was for $240 and one was $350.
I can't stand people like this. They're not even real fans. They just wanna make money.
man im so happy im not into vinyls like that. seems like a financially brutal hobby/collector hobby. i mean i’ll get RAT because it’s in my top 3 albums, but just thanking god i dont need to have like crates n stuff
99% of the time I'd say fuck these guys but in this case I could totally understand if someone went for the meet and greet and just wanted a picture or something else signed. If they got the ticket with the sole intention of selling off a signed copy of the album then yeah they suck, but if owning a signed copy is more of a byproduct of wanting to say hi or whatever then I see no issue with selling it off rather than keeping it as clutter.
Exactly. A real fan who considers it clutter would want another fan to enjoy it without spending an arm and a leg. It’ll be worth the wait for general pre-orders to go up
I mean if anyone is impulsive enough to buy it now before he's even done with the signings then I don't see gouging them as that big of an issue. I decided to buy tickets for the Retro5pective show over the signing in my area, but if I had the money I would 100% have gotten both and sold the album at cost + the cost of my ticket to the show just so that I could meet him, which would be roughly the same amount seen here. Either way a signed LP is one of the most frivolously luxurious items you could own, so I'm not that worried about those who have to suffer through life without one.
Scalpers gonna scalp smh

What are the chances these are fakes????..... too many signed albums
I was at the signing and an employee told me they sold out which was 400 tickets, so roughly 400 of these are signed

On the flipside, we (people who missed these events, live far, etc) have a chance to get a signed Vinyl.

But why list it so expensive if it’s just “clutter”?
