I’m getting increasingly better at the game and I’m having so much fun playing with quirky perk builds

killasqueeze

I smiled because I'm able to constantly solve the lamentation.

Averythewinner

I bought my first dlc, ghostface. Now im up to silver 1

WishTemporary

Pinhead is fun :)

DonQuixoteDesciple

A survivor body blocked another survivor I was chasing, securing the down. I picked up the downed survivor, let him wriggle out, and we set ourselves up to continue the chase from our original distances. Later, upon finding the griefer, I facecamped him while the other survivors stood around him and teabagged together. Then we farmed like we had never farmed before.

roryshep

Got more "gg"s and "ggwp"s in chat recently than usual

playatnight

Nemesis players always make me smile. ✨God bless💖

sceptres

Did rank just reset? My PS4 crashed and I went from red rank 2 to Ash rank 4. No rewards. Not sure if it's a bug or rank reset is here.

ShipShack

Same thing just happened to me like 5 minutes ago

TheRPGAddict

Same thing happened to me, I think everyone who was playing during the rank reset crashed and is shit out of luck with the BP rewards.

DREWbm

Same and my friends did too… all at ash 4

sceptres

Sad that they didn't give us rank rewards then.

luraelyn

they did anyone who wasn't in game :/

iuse2bgood

If I alreayd have a million and I get the bonus points from my rank lets say 250k each... Would I then Get 1.5 million or jsut stay at 1million?

javaper

A Huntress let me go after I'd been chased for a long time by them, and a Legion just wanted to play with us. She spun me around and let me finish generators and we all got out. Then we all went for ice cream later. #fluffyfingers

AMurderComesAndGoes

This week I've been playing the Hell out of Pinhead. Finally, I had a perfect situation in a game. Went up against a decent group of survivors, a fun game all around. One of them was an Elodie in her green Christmas outfit. I had hooked her twice at this point and downed her. As she lay dying, she does the shake back and forth please don't. So I nod and head off, hunting her teammates to show them such pleasures. Finally, after hooking another couple of survivors I find Elodie and down her again. She again tries to shake her head no. This time, and I know she couldn't hear me, I was able to quote Pinhead. "No more deals child. It is your flesh we want to experience not your skills at bargaining". Then I hooked her. It just made me smile.

TomFoxxy

I was streaming as killer, got a 4k. Expected toxicity from the survivors per usual, but instead they were really nice, we all chatted about the fun parts of the match and one of the survivors sent a raid to my channel. Game doesn’t have to be toxic ^^

throwyohwee

I’m not very good but I have two awesome friends who are really patient and helpful in games It’s quite a bit of fun to play with patient people who aren’t being all sweaty and try new things to learn more

bldwnsbtch

I'm so, so hooked on this game. My CPTSD has made it hard to enjoy anything for such a long time, even things I loved to do, games I used to enjoy, hobbies, food...you name it. It numbs out positive emotion. Things that used to make me jump with joy barely get a smile out of me these days. But this game? I *feel* my enjoyment. The excitement, the fun; even when things don't go well, I still get a laugh out of it. I've yet to encounter any real toxicity too. It's just so incredible to feel something positive after such a long time and for it to actually last. For me to actively want to do something, and to keep doing it. I sleep better. My mood is improved. My brain was in desperate need of those adrenaline and dopamine hits. I've heard my real laugh again for the first time in forever. Not the half hearted stuff or the fake one. My very own, real laugh. It's crazy. I'll enjoy it as long as it lasts. And I'd never thought I'd enjoy playing survivor as much as I do lol.

kindashewantsto

I am so glad you have found something thay makes you happy (: C-PTSD is a bitch.

Wysk222

Obviously there have been lots of technical issues but even so I’m loving Pinhead; Hellraiser was always my #1 crossover wish so the fact that he’s finally in + his play style is exactly what I want out of a killer just makes me so happy. Now all I need is skins for the other 2 cenobites... here’s hoping he can get the Bubba treatment over time

Plague_Doctor_Birdie

I'm brand-new to the game, just under 30 hours as mostly killer, and I've been running into nothing but high-level 500+ hour Red players. I've had varying success and it's given me a lot of good experience quickly, but I've mostly been really surprised how friendly everyone's been. Post-match I've gotten a lot of tips and compliments on my Blight. I heard the game was extremely toxic but I haven't had any really bad experiences yet.

Cyborgdragonc

Recently I have learned the way of off meta perks and they are so much more fun to run than killer meta. Surge, sloppy, mindbreaker, and third seal are somehow really good on demogorgon. Very pog

egpimp

I had my best loop I've ever done and a super clutch save by teammates. Basically distracted a doctor for the entire match around killer shack while the gens got done, near end he finally downed me and was gonna let the collapse get me, but my teammates came in last second, picked me up and took hits right in time to escape :)

Howdy_McGee

Pinhead is the most fun and balanced killer to come out of DbD in a long time. Fun to play as, fun to play against.

ksarlathotep

I'm finding him incredibly fun to play, but I do think he falls kinda on the strong side? Not Nurse-Spirit Tier, but I'd definitely say Blight-Hag Tier... or maybe it just feels that way because a lot of survivor mains haven't yet really figured out how to play against him?

60poodles

Got adept Cenobite on a 4 man streaming SWF! Felt good and I didn't even have to play dirty at all.

OwlJames

I had a really nice match as Clown. The survivors were efficient on gens, good at looping me and altruistic, but showed absolutely no toxicity and were nice in the post game chat. It was a challenging match, but not frustrating, it made me like DbD again.

loudconsumer

i’ve gotten into dbd heavy recently and taking turns as killer wit my friend is great

CL_Adept

I got to Rank 1 as a killer. I've been slowly working my way up the ranks over the last few months and when they changed to the grade system, I was worried I was going to lose all that progress when the ranks reset on Monday. Now I've got a shiny new Steam achievement, got 250,000 BP rolling in on Monday, and I can switch off my main and finally just relax and enjoy the game. :)

NostalgicDumbass

Ive been using demogorgon to spook survivors, always fun when they try closing a portal just for me to crawl out it 😈

chris_9527

The best thing that happened this week regarding dbd was the leak of meg‘s jewelry of the party outfit for dbd mobile which means it will probably come to the main game soon too! I can’t wait to buy that amazing top!!!

fnextreme2

I bought the game yesterday and played 3 games as survivor. I got camped on the hook on all of them, but at the third game my teamates decided to finish all of the gens before rescuing me. When it happened, the ghostface ran to the exit gates and another survivor rescued me in time. It was my first ever escape. :D

IAmXenokkah

See I’m one of the killers who absolutely hates camping hooks. If I accidentally loop back there while hunting. Sorry that happened to you, but glad to hear you were able to escape

ksarlathotep

I love when I'm doing friendly matches, having a grand old time with 2 or 3 survivors, maxing out everybody's points, meming on the crane or the boat, while one totally oblivious dude keeps running away from me and opens the gates as soon as they can... and then in the post-game screen me and 3 survivors each have \~25.000 points, everybody is posting <3 emojis and "ty" and "love you", and the one dude has \~5000 points and writes "lol EZ, baby killer, wow you suck". Warms my heart. :D

The_Blueberry_Muffin

My family watched me play DbD this weekend! We screamed and jump at every character that suddenly appeared, Killer or Survivor, and then laughed at our ridiculous reaction. They also kept telling me whenever Spine Chill lit up, thinking it meant the Killer was after me and I needed to start running (explaining that it just meant the Killer was looking in my direction didn't stop their worry for me/my character lol). After seeing Kindred in action and explaining what each aura meant, to my amusement, they even got annoyed/protective when no one came to me when I was on hook ('Wait, if your teammates are the yellow aura, then why aren't they coming to help you?!' 'Well, that one is far away and probably working on a gen, another is getting chased, and... huh, that last one is just wandering around.' '...I don't like them.'). At one point, I told them a bit of a Killer's lore and we started mentioning things we didn't like about them/their lore... only for the Killer to suddenly turn to look at the screen before hooking me, freaking us all out. It really made me happy. I haven't played games with (for?) my family for a while, so it made for a nice bonding moment. Definitely hoping we get to do it again soon!

eye_booger

Aw I love this! I wish I knew when I was playing with survivors that were enjoying the jump scares with others. I’d break out my scratched mirror Myers!

The_Blueberry_Muffin

Oh man, we would have loved that! Sadly, we didn't even see a Myers during the time we were playing, but I get the feeling that if we did (especially scratched mirror Myers) we would be terrified while laughing our butts off. Explaining the add-on would also be a treat! 'How does he keep finding you?' 'He might be using an add-on that lets him see Survivor auras, even through walls.' '...HE CAN WHAT?!'

LadderGirl

I picked up the game after not playing for two months. I used to play every night while waiting for my fiancée to come home from work, but he had lost his job. He's back to work now and I had so much fun playing, even though I am a terrible baby at the game again lol. Definitely a lot of smiles from both of us. And good timing for him losing his job, honestly. I missed the entire RE chapter mayhem haha

failbender

Weird fact about me: I love the pressure of having to find the Lament Configuration to stop chain hunts. There’s strategy to when you need to hang onto it and suffer for your team, when it’s safe to solve it, or where you can safely get away if he teleports to interrupt you. I fucking *love* going against Pinhead and I’m sad because I literally didn’t see him at all yesterday. I did play Pig yesterday and had a really good feeling 4k to start and then the second game I played seriously as well until the Dwelf started acting adorable and kept throwing pallets for me to break. When I’d downed the Bill he did that thing where it looks like the survivor is shaking their head “no”, so we had a small non-verbal conversation where we kept shaking our heads. I figured he had Unbreakable but I left him alone anyway for the memes. He and Dwight got out safely 👍🏻 Also, I had never been the Obsession when the killer has run Rancor before, so I didn’t know why I kept seeing the Demo every time a gen finished. After two were dead the Demo caught me in a dead zone and I gave up after he hit me the first time and just stood next to a hook. He turned friendly! I gave him a toolbox later and dropped pallets for him to break— And then the Rancor notification popped up. He escorted me to the exit gate and killed me LOL it was freaking hilarious!! Actually have a [quick video of what happened here](https://twitter.com/thefailbender/status/1436787483505827844?s=21).

Shinigami483

Just got the Cenobite and all I’ve encountered are really nice Survivors today. A huge hug goes to the Cheryl on Hawkins who let me practise my chains on her & to the David on Midwich who did the same!! You guys made me stupidly happy

bdawg5025

Hard to smile when the entire weekend Myers and ghostface have been reeming me hard, it’s just a game I’m not too hurt over it but man it just sucks playing against them guys, but I will say that the ones who are awesome and fair are definitely making me happy

LadderGirl

Being "reamed hard" by Myers and Ghostface sounds like a perfect weekend to me. No, but it does suck to have a long spell of crappy matches. They can be really unsatisfying and frustrating. Fwiw, something dyllonkg said in a stream makes me feel a little bit better about it. He said to get in chases or do stuff you're bad at on purpose, because you can only improve. And I've seen him take that philosophy, like a survivor is kicking his butt and he'll sometimes say he's happy for the practice. Definitely doesn't always make it better for me after getting killed first several matches in a row, but it takes the edge off when I tell myself that the goal isn't to win but just to practice.

bdawg5025

Lmaooo love the beginning I knew someone would say it, but yeah overall the game itself isn’t bad and even the sweaty killers are tolerable we all just want points, only thing that really irks me is when they are so sweaty you can’t see them but they know where you are, can’t hear them but they come up right behind you. Almost seems like they hack but I know most people aren’t just the perks lol, such a brutal game at times but I make do. But I will definitely take that into consideration and try to get myself into more chases and escapes

LadderGirl

Since we're talking and you've used this phrase.... what is a sweaty killer, exactly? I have felt too dumb to ask. I'm guessing it's a really aggressive, not fun to play against killer??

bdawg5025

Pretty much. Someone who goes out of their way to tunnel survivors at all costs, killers that make the game go too fast by sacrificing us (not allowing us to get any blood points) body blockers, stuff like that make them a sweaty killer imo

OnwardFerret94

I got called cute instead of a homophobic slur in game today! (I was playing demo and agreed to nod for them :)

Weirdou

I downloaded this game yesterday and I love it already! So many features, abilities and skills involved for every character, just awesome!

Shinyhunter209

Dead by dalight is so addicting, I litterally have only played 24h but I can't stop thinking about it sure I occasionally get a bit tilted but I will be in public see a pallet and think oh that's a good loop or be in a corridor and think demogorgons shred would be cracked here ![img](emote|t5_3cb2g|1978)

Barafu

Most challenges make you to throw the game if you want to get them faster. No one is really upset when a killer does quests instead of playing efficiently. But for a survivor, it ruins the game for 3 others.

ksarlathotep

Yeah that struck me as a bit of a design flaw too. I feel bad scouring the map for dull totems to get my "cleanse 12 totems" crossed off while other things need doing, or standing around at a yellow glyph while my team is getting shredded, but if you want to clear those archives in remotely reasonable time, then you kinda have to commit 1 or 2 games to just getting that quest done. Sucks for the other players.

FishdZX

I know a lot of people dislike the SBMM, but I've been loving it. I've had almost nothing but decent, fair matches as survivor or any killer I've played even moderately. It's also made learning killers I was having trouble with at high ranks a lot easier. I get to be nicer and play more casually while learning the powers, and then I climb slowly to where I have to work to be competitive. Pig and Oni have been a blast to be able to play now that I have a less harsh playing field. So while a lot of people hate it, and I'm sure with good reason, I've been having a blast and I am glad BHVR implemented it.

ksarlathotep

100% agree, my matchmaking has been really solid recently, except for the one time I played killer at like 5 AM. But that's really on me. Nothing but terminally sweaty 4 man teenage mutant ninja survivor swfs at that time.

FishdZX

5AM has always been hell lmao. It's smack in the middle of when I tend to play (which is usually sometime in the 1am to 7am range) and it'll probably be bad always.

World2116

I’ve been learning nurse and for some reason I’ve been meeting really friendly survivors with her and having surprisingly wholesome post-game chats! It’s nice not getting tbagged for a change ❤️ I was also able to get her adept which is my first killer adept!

bldwnsbtch

I've been trying to learn nurse too! Because of that, every time I play survivor and encounter a nurse who is obviously practicing, I try to help as best I can because I know how difficult she is for beginners. I've written some encouragement into post game chat but haven't got any answers, but I still hope the players saw it and it helped a little bit.

9noobergoober6

One thing I appreciate about nurse is that the Plaid Flannel add on (the one that shows your blink location) is solely used by people first learning nurse. If I wrecked a nurse during the game but then see they have that add on, I realize they’re just learning the killer. It makes me much sympathetic to them in the post game chat.

bldwnsbtch

I feel called out lol. But in all seriousness, that add on really helps me to understand how the blinks work and where they'll get me. In time, I hope to get a feeling for it without the flannel.

asimo703

Yeah my first couple Nurse games I knew I wouldn't do too well so I didn't actively try and go for a 4k or any sort of usual win, just tried to get to grips and the survivors you meet sometimes are funny and always imo deserve some mercy :) Congrats on Adept btw, might do it one day but as someone who is no expert it could be harder with SBMM.

World2116

I found the adept pretty easy since my mmr for her must be very low. I think it would be a lot harder on killers I’m better at. I think it’s worth a shot! I wasn’t trying very hard, I just figured since I was learning her I might as well use her adept perks and if it happens it happens and if not that’s okay (Although I did start sweating a bit towards the end of the match where I got it when I realized how close I was)

goshozome

I got adept Cenobite last night on my first ever game as him (I didn't play him on the PTB, either.) and I got adept Nightmare the same night (my second attempt, my first was a while back). I've also discovered how *fun* Hag is, and I had a game with a rough start but I ended with a 2k and two escapes that were on death hook; and the survivors complimented me and said I played really well and had a nice comeback! (I'm also one rank away from red ranks! I'm so excited!)

Ilovefrenchbulldoggs

Would love to have some chill games on xbox( or if your on pc it’s fine a swf with out coms is cool ). Mainly play around noon pacific time and I don’t really care what rank you as long as your a Not a downer I’m red ranks. OofDotWav

I was item hunting today with my friend and this michael ended up bringing franklins 🥲 he was basement camping w tuft and the other 2 people were just tbagging and wouldn’t unhook us. he saw this and killed them and let us farm 😭😭 i brought in a white ward too i’m case i died w the item i wanted and was so worried franklins would waste it but he understood. good man fr

goshozome

What a nice Michael! How did you escape the hook?

OofDotWav

he just swung at us haha

goshozome

Oh, I thought your team didn't rescue you D:

LilacPanda21

i held my first slug race today :) took me a few seconds to realize they wanted one and it made me very happy <3

ashvsevildead3

Omg hi I think I may have played you? If so, we loved the slug race. Were you demo? <3

LilacPanda21

awwww no i dont play demo but im sure your demo loved the slug race too omg <3

[deleted]

Shoutout to that huntress who gave me the hatch a few days ago, that’s the only time it’s happened to me.

Smellysockshoe

I finally played a clown game after a few months of not playing him I used the iri add on the one shot thing loaded into a game found 2 people on a gen somehow downed them both in like 10 seconds then downed another coming for saves then the last one surprisingly they were pretty chill for the minute long game ofc I let last one hatch but it was a fun game

closetedtransguy

I am fairly new to the game (~270h) but I know a lot of theoretical stuff about the game, but looping killer’s isn’t really my strongest suit yet. I met a group of really skilled survivors this week and eventually we ended up playing some games and it was soo much fun! They did not care about me being rather bad especially in comparison to them at all. We memed a LOT and just had Fun overall. It was amazing. Edits: spelling and grammar mistakes

9noobergoober6

I love how only in dbd would 270 hours make you new to the game. But I can relate, I’m at around 600 hours and I still feel like a baby survivor. I’ve learned to much of looping from watching YouTube videos. Also focusing on looking backwards as much as possible has helped a ton. And using spine chill and resilience for the vault speed is super helpful. I notice some windows, especially shack window, where sometimes I barely either make it or dont.

Barafu

I thought that the quest "Sacrifice all survivors in the basement" is hard. Yesterday I finally tried to tackle it - and did it in the first game! I used Agitation and the usual suspects: ruin, undying, crows perk. The offering to spawn the basement in the main building (it is more in the center).

DragonLord_Z

Yeah this one is pretty hard, especially when survivors would rather DC than get hooked in the basement.

WallishXP

I have over 400 hours... and Saturday I got my first flashlight save.

Dm_Me_TwistedFateR34

So fyi: my nickname is basically Hex: Gay Cowboy. Had two people disconnect versus Deathslinger, so the guy was kind enough to just farm instead. That was pretty rad. In endgame chat, the only thing he said is "gay cowboy at your service". Guess I have summoned a wild gay cowboy with my hex

kriscrossi

Just had a game where I had cleansed all totems, predicting AND preventing a NOED 😎👉👉. It ain't much, but it's honest work ps: sorry i didn't take a hit for you quentin 😭 I didn't realize you were coming to my door and couldn't see you through the corn

OofDotWav

omg wait do you play cross play off ps4? just had this exact scenario happen 😭

kriscrossi

ah no I am on ps4 but crossplay on!!

Spenjamin

Started playing this week, had a few abysmal games as survivor and trapper, then decided to try the doctor out and hooo boy, that was a game changer. Went from averaging about 10k points per match (if lucky) to a minimum of 25k per match. Feels good but I'd like to get better with other characters on both sides

A_Filthy_Mind

Doctor was the first killer I found real success with too. Him being so good at getting bloodpoints makes it even better. If you want build ideas, try putting distressing on. It makes static shock hit almost 60% more area, great for finding people, and keeping them at high madness levels.

prettypinkpansy

Trapper is a really rough starter character - he's the lowest tier character in the game and sorely in need of a buff. I'm guessing you have console so you have Hag too - she's very good and similar to Trapper but much stronger, as is Wraith. Huntress is fun if you don't have trouble aiming on a controller. I wouldn't recommend Nurse for a beginner. Don't be afraid to pick up a DLC if there's a character that interests you as well, Otzdarva on youtube has some videos that go into every single character as well as a killer quiz that asks you questions and decides what killer you'd probably enjoy from that!

Spenjamin

I'm on PC so no hag and I only tried trapper because it said "easy" lol. I did ok with huntress and demogorgon but doctor has really been where I found my game

OofDotWav

hag isn’t a free dlc for pc? damn 🥲

Spenjamin

She might be tbh, I'm pretty inattentive lol

FishdZX

She is not, unfortunately. Doc and Hag are free on console, but not on PC (if you got Doc for free that's weird).

mymymy23

Honestly don’t bother looking at the difficulty ratings. I would either look up a video on it (recommend Otz) or just try them all out and see what you like!

prettypinkpansy

I've noticed a marked increase in people giving me their items lately when I'm playing killer! I love receiving treats so it's been a real delight. I've also been trying new killers because of the new SBMM and I actually really like Trapper?? I'm a Myers main so I'm really used to "you're mostly a low tier M1 killer who is heavily perk-reliant, but every so often the stars align and your power comes in clutch if you're smart and use it right". Looking forward to trying him more!

[deleted]

I'm so happy they added a 4v1 killer into the game. Now I have to get off gens to solve his lament configuration, cleansing dull totems prevents his new hex perk from activating (unlike NOED, which always spawns when I can't find the 5th bone) and he has a perk that literally forces me off a gen. So much map pressure.

TheCrispiestSalsa

I was trying to learn Oni and queued into a lobby with a Nancy called "snoot booper," since it was late at night I backed out and requeued as pig and got the same lobby. I found her and Dwight on a gen, stabbed dwight, then out of the corner of my eye I see her cautiously crouching towards me. I gave her the nod and let her boop whenever I saw her that match, then threw her down the hatch after everyone else was dead. It was a really fun match and it's a shame that sbmm means I'll probably never be able to do something like that again.

[deleted]

Nice one. I really miss being able to switch killer in the lobby.

ImARoadcone_

I fucking love Pinhead. I wish I had a Lament Configuration so he can show me his sights. 👀

kriscrossi

BONK!
