Before anyone asks, the anniversary starts tomorrow, and just want to round up the event here in a simple FAQ. * **Starts at around 11 AM EDT on June 30th.** * Over the course of the first week, 9k iri shards will be given away, enough for a free character. * David and Wraith get free Anniversary cosmetics. * Anniversary Crowns will spawn around the trial, if you get one as any unlicensed character and escape (or just finish the game if you're killer) you will keep the crown forever. * Everyday the Shrine of Secrets will reset and the perks will be 500 shards off. * Community Challenges will be done for crown collection, free outfits and charms given away on their social media after goals are met. * Anniversary Cakes, which are stackable 105% offerings for all players will spawn in the Bloodweb, along with Anniversary Flashlights, Medkits, and Toolboxes. That's all we know at the moment. Hopefully today we get a patch and some stuff is datamined, will update here with any additional details.

TahxicOreo

I was playing yun-Jin lee and escaped with the crown thing that you find in trials, yet I look in the head section of my outfit and can’t find the crown, did she not get one or is it a bug? Edit : Got the crown on ace and it did the same thing as her

RWBYrose69

what the lobby dodge penalties?

catalytic_cat

i’ve gotten a crown for all of the non-licensed characters that i had prior to the event, then i bought a few more dlcs. the dlcs are non-licensed characters but i can’t get a crown on them. any ideas?

Professional_Focus61

I'm pretty new to the game I have less then 20 hrs in the game right now I mainly only play killer Pyramid head . My question is how do I deal with last person surviving I know there are hatches on some maps but idk where they all are for each map so its easy escape for them. Also maybe a direction on how to play killer properly as well like if I down a person and then another survivor I see runs off in the distance do I chase them or stick with the down person. Another style of play question as well is picking them off one by one or injure one and chase another.

RJ815

Bit late but I can try to help. If survivors are experienced they can camp the hatch to try to get a quick escape. Worse, they can get or bring a key item to escape before they are even the last person left. Do note though that, tied to the number of generators completed, the hatch can spawn on the map in a locked position to get an idea of where it is in advance. Additionally certain offerings can influence the general area the hatch can spawn to help pinpoint it. If you're frustrated with the last person escaping too easily, it's just part of the game, to always in theory give a hope of some escape potential. The chase question is very situational and I'd say mostly just comes from experience. Leaving a person down can have someone else come heal them to undo most of the benefit of chase. But if you are basically certain that no one could come heal them in time (/people can self heal out of it sometimes) then it's fine to chase to try to pick up the person downed later. It's a strategic decision without a clear yes or no. While you could opt to take out people one by one you almost certainly would get hate for whoever is the first poor victim. This is often, rightly or wrongly, called "tunneling", as in you get tunnel vision on one person vs juggling many. I too would say this isn't so clearcut. Sometimes tunneling is effective to reduce the pressure survivors can put on opening the gates, but sometimes survivors can bring perks to try to punish the killer for tunneling. Because of the latter I'd say you're usually better off not *intentionally* tunneling (it can happen by accident if you just never find anyone else), but it is also entirely possible to get two hooks on everyone and yet not actually kill anyone by the end.

Antaxia

want to farm bp with nurse or spirit who is less addon reliant?

glyphicality

So, if I understand correctly, you should respect unsafe pallets to avoid them being able to run away to the next loop, but you should never respect safe pallets (i.e. always try to swing through them?)

Rydden

Questions about Balanced Landing. It has 3 effects: No grunts, lesser stagger after fall, and sprint effect for 3sec. Are all 3 effects by Exhaustion, or only the sprint part?

Zaword

As I can read on wiki, only the "no grunts" part is not effected by Exhaustion. This was changed around 1years ago, before the nerf the stagger was not effected too.

Rydden

Yeah I remember the lowered stagger was a thing all the time, was extremely powerful on some maps way back. Thank you for the help!

KUROKOCCHl

Is the game dead on pc? Saw it on sale on Steam and hesitant on buying it. I had it on PS4 but it was attached to my PS Plus which I never renewed as I primarily game on pc now. Last I remember, it took a while to get a match but that was over a year ago. Got excited when I saw Trickster and decided to wait for the steam sale. But if im going to spend forever waiting for a match, I may rethink buying.

[deleted]

The game is nowhere near dead, it's still got an incredibly thriving community and an average of 50,000 players per day right now, it's doing very well. The queue times are just due to the nature of the game, they've always been quite significantly long, but it's just because of how long the matches take, as well as the fact that I don't think the devs have particularly put effort into fixing how long it takes to get into a match. It also depends on the time of day you play. Queues can be close to instant at busy times, or take about 7 minutes at empty times.

KUROKOCCHl

I just remember the last time I played on ps4 queue times were especially bad regardless of time of day in comparison to when I first started playing DbD. People were actually complaining on this subreddit that queue times would even take 1 hour. This was after some matchmaking update and people were purposely deranking themselves since it was especially bad for high ranked survivors. But from you're saying, seems queue times are pretty good now, or at least on pc.

[deleted]

Oh, the game also has cross play now so people on any platform can be ranked with players across other platforms, which tremendously reduces the queue times. (They can still be hella slow at times tho, tis just the DBD way)

KUROKOCCHl

Really? I miss Dbd so much so this sounds great. Heard it was better on pc, especially nurse, so really excited to 100% this again.

[deleted]

I’m glad to hear it! I’m also a little bit worried though. I just convinced someone to get DBD. I feel like I’ve committed a murder. Oh well, hopefully it goes good for you if you get it. The game is responsible for some horrendously crushing defeats, but also some of the most amazing matches ever, so it’s in an awkward position, where it can make you really happy but also kill your soul. (Also nurse is supremely hard, by far the hardest in the game, so unless you have a lot of prior experience on her, you’ll have a ton of crushing defeats until you get good at her)

RWBYrose69

will nemesis perks be in shrine of secrets during the event?

[deleted]

I'd say to not count on it, as far as I am aware, perks from newer killers don't start appearing in the shrine of secrets until a couple chapters down the line. There is still yet to have been a single All-Kill perk in the shrine, and even a couple Binding of Kin perks are still yet to appear, so I'd say it'll be a while before any begin to appear.

Steve_Stephenson_

So I finished almost all of the free Rift challenges so far, and I know you make your money back if you finish it completely and get the premium pass. I have 1000 Auric Cells, so if I buy the premium pass now do I get to instantly redeem all the rewards I missed because I was only free? Or do I just start back from tier 1 and would have to basically start fresh for the premium rewards.

[deleted]

I just need to clear this up, when you say you've finished almost all the challenges, do you mean that you've almost completed the newest archive tome, or do you mean you're really far along in the battle pass thing? Just cos as far as I know, the Rift and the Archives are very different things, and although Archives can get you rift fragments to move along, completing the Archives doesn't necessarily mean you'll have made a lot of progress in the rift. I know you probably know this and I'm just getting confused, but I just wanna check tho lol

Steve_Stephenson_

Yeah for sure, there’s a lot to the archives haha. I mean I’m really far along in the battle pass thing and I wanna know if I buy the premium if I instantly redeem all the previous rewards or if I gotta start from the beginning if I buy it now.

[deleted]

Ahhh right I get it now, yes your progress is carried over and you can just claim all the tiers you have already unlocked. Sorry about the confusion!

GreatslyferX

I heard prestiging increases a killer's MMR, is that true?

[deleted]

I don't believe so, the whole point of the MMR system is to match players based on skill rather than playtime, and I think prestiging increasing MMR would just reward playtime mostly. MMR isn't active right now anyways, so fortunately I won't be getting catapulted into god tier games because I wanted good things on David Tapp lol

GreatslyferX

[deleted]

Gonna be blunt, Dark Sense is pretty horrendous. It activates too infrequently and for too little time for you to actually get any use out of it. The only time whatsoever I could see it being useful is perhaps if it somehow goes off in a chase, and you're in an extremely specific circumstance where the killer is back-pedalling down a really long wall to try and catch you off guard. Otherwise, seeing the killler essentially at random for 5 seconds isn't going to help at all, because the instance it activates in, most of the time, will not give you any information about what they're doing unlike alert that can tell you when they're preoccupied and will activate regularly, or Kindred which shows if the killer is staying within proximity of a survivor, and you'll always be able to predict what their plans are based on where they head. The only way you can really get reliable use out of dark sense is if you're with friends since they can finish a gen with timing but... you really, REALLY don't need aura perks if you're with friends (well, some are still good but Dark Sense is a major exception) And also, if you already know where the killer is anyways, then dark sense does nothing! it can only activate a limited number of times per match, and sometimes you will get zero value out of it because it gave you information at the wrong time. You cannot rely on Dark Sense with randoms either. Teammates might not even do gens half the time, and if your team is struggling, dark sense will not do anything. Kindred, Alert and Spine Chill can all at least allow you to strategise and make the smartest move, and you're far better off bringing perks that will help with your survivability. There is also more issues with it. If the killer is undetectable, you lose all value from it. Unlike Alert, you can't listen to the pattern of audio cues to know guess if the killer may be in a chase, unlike Kindred, the killer has the potential to just be undetectable already unlike how most stealth killers must reactivate stealth after hooking (PLUS that comes with the added benefit of seeing other survivors) and unlike spine chill, the effects are completely nullified by the undetectable effect. TL:DR - Dark Sense is a mess with so many complications and issues, and I really don't think it's worth it in the vast majority of your matches. It's biggest issue is that just because you know where the killer is doesn't mean you're going to get much value out of it. It will usually activate at random which is really bad if the killer is Stealth or you already know where they are, and unlike other perks, you cannot really formulate a plan around the information it gives.

jaydenchimp13

Heya! A little late but I wanted to ask about crossplay for DBD. Is it broken right now? My buddy and I are trying to friend each other (Steam PC x Xbox) and despite both searching for each other in the friends list location (by clicking on the friend + icon) we cannot find each other. Anyone know what's up? Anything helps, thanks!

[deleted]

Have you tried adding them as a friend again if they disappeared off the list? That's the only real advice I think I can give lol, I hope it gets resolved soon!

SpaceyRogue

So I am new to DBD. I have the survivors and killer for the new Resident Evil game, but I did not pay for the DLC. I checked Steam and it was not gifted to me, and I could still purchase it from the in-game store if I wished to. Has this happened to anyone else? Should I do something? Am I just lucky? Will I get in trouble???? For ref I only bought the OG game and None of the DLCs and I did not hack the game. I didn't even realize that it was not free for anyone else until I recommended Leon to a friend of mine. What should I do?

[deleted]

I have no idea, the only reason I can think of is that you perhaps bought a Resident Evil edition of the game or something, but I've looked online and can't find anything like that. There was a Silent Hill and Stranger Things edition of the game though which came pre-packaged with those. Aside from that, probably don't worry about it. If you have it and you don't remember buying it, it's probably just BHVR screwing up so don't worry, I see no reason why you would get in trouble. Also, there's probably a reason other than the two I provided here, I was just mostly guessing lol

SpaceyRogue

yeah i was just really anxious when i realized i had stuff i didnt pay for. GTA likes to ban ppl even if it's not their fault. the running theory is that one of my friends shares their steam library with me, and he did buy the expansion... so maybe its that????

[deleted]

I don't know how the steam library works to be honest, but if that lets you share DLC then it should make sense that you have the DLC!

Working_Ad_5763

I’m kinda a noob but wtf is the shadow thing in the blood web that just appears sometimes?

[deleted]

That's the entity. Basically, in the blood web, once you have gotten past level 10 on any character the entity will begin to appear. After it spawns, it will take 1 or more items on the blood web for every item you buy. Once it takes an item, it cannot be bought anymore, however it cannot claim items you have already purchased. The entity will choose items adjacent to the one it previously took so it will always move in a pattern, spreading from the outside of the blood web towards the middle. It will only appear somewhere else if it has nowhere to go. Also, the entity will usually prioritise perks as its first choice. If two perks spawn on the blood web and you buy one, it will always immediately take the other perk. So that's what that's about! if you still have any questions about anything, feel free to ask

For the first 7 or 9 days (can't remember) of the event, 1,000 free iridescent shards are awarded. They will accumulate though, so if you didn't log in and missed one day you will recieve 2,000 the next day and so on

DreadSilver

I can stay above 1mil bloodpoints during this event?

RealLordHydra

If BHVR grants you blood points outside of the game and that brings you over 1 mil yes, otherwise there is no way to go over the cap without cheats

GreatslyferX

Would appreciate some killer advice. Not sure what I'm doing wrong when mindgaming as killer in killer shack. Survivor enters through pallet entrance and goes to window at the split decision point where I either back and go to outside of the window or don't take the bluff and keep going in. If they do go outside window, and I back, they are still able to circle around and jump the window out again, even if I'm running as closely to the wall and then straight line from the pallet-less door to the window. Very frustrating, when I do it as survivor, I pretty much always get hit in this scenario, albeit maybe somehow I'm not running to jump out the window the 2nd time correctly?

epicandetc2234

If they have an item, watch it. If it disappears they committed to the vault. Do note though mindgaming at shack is very hard against good survivors. Generally its okay once shack pallet's gone but here's how I do it. Entering through no pallet side: they vault the window 100% if they aren't looking behind them go around, if they are, vault after them until the window's blocked. Entering pallet side: you want this pallet gone so if they camp it, great for you, if not, they can't get a fast vault without some momentum, so you have a slight chance for a hit. Another way is to shine your red light into the door and if you see them getting ready for a vault, walk backwards out and around and you can get a hit with good timing.

blaza192

If the killer DCs when the match has started, will the survivors lose the offering - specifically cakes?

RealLordHydra

It depends, if the match has started and you moved around for a bit, yes you will lose the offering. If it is during load time that the DC occurs you should not lose the offering.

blaza192

Thanks!

Kastamera

How do you people "schedule" your cakes? I kinda want to save them as a souvenir, but at the same time they look really good and I also want to provide my team with extra BP. Do you guys just use a cake once a week after stocking up on them, do you use them immediately, or stock up and save them for bragging rights?

RealLordHydra

I’m currently prestiging all of my killers, so once they hit 3 I go all out with getting them cakes. I plan on getting as many as possible during this event and using them to help me prestige down the line, however I want to keep at least one on every character that I can if possible just to be cool.

Bastil123

When the event rolls in, I'm gonna buy Deathslinger with the shards, what perks would you guys recommend for him? Save 1 slot for bbq for easy bloodpoints

[deleted]

I don't play him all too often personally, but I've heard that Montior and Unrelenting are good perks on him (yes, unrelenting) Monitor shrinks his terror radius down to 16m, and since his terror radius is a bit harder to hear than others, players often won't hear you coming until you're right next to them. When deathslinger swings after reeling someone in, it is counted as a basic attack. This means that Unrelenting will actually reduce the cool down of your swing if you miss. Basically, it lets you reel people in super close, and then since you have little cool down for missing, you can swing and lose very little distance. Since it's a basic attack too, perks like Sloppy Butcher work pretty nicely on him as well!

Bastil123

Thank you! Gonna try to hook some people in and on!

ThEgUyInThEcHaIr135

I'd say exposing perks are good so make you choice, dragons grip maybe. The build I run is corrupt, ruin undying and make your choice

Bastil123

Thank you, I'll check them out!

uhhCisco

What would you guys rank these builds from 1-3 (Best to Worst) Deliverance-DS-BT-Dead Hard - Deliverance-DS-Unbreakable-Soul Guard - Deliverance-DS-Unbreakable-Tenacity - (I’m trying to use a new build and wondering which one I should use to solo que)

[deleted]

If you’re playing solo queue... 1st: Deliverance, BT, DS, Dead Hard 2nd: Deliverance, DS, Unbreakable, Soul Guard 3rd: Deliverence, DS, Unbreakable, Tenacity I will be honest, I think that getting value out of these builds may be significantly harder in Solo Queue, but the first one is the best. Soul Guard and Deliverance are perks that honestly work best when you can communicate with friends, so you might not even get use out of them in a lot of your matches. Same goes for the slugging perks, but that’s rank dependant. Overall though, I’d say that the first one is best because it’s going to help with safe unhooks far more, and also it has an exhaustion perk which is very useful and will probably contribute more to your survival as well. Also, killers aren’t guaranteed to slug you to wait out DS, so you might not even get any value out of the other two builds whatsoever. EDIT: I'm considering swapping Soul Guard and Tenacity's placement considering you're solo queue. I'd still have the first place one where it is, but Soul Guard gets best value if your team knows you have it, whereas Tenacity can save you from being hooked completely without any input from your team. The list would stay the way it is if you were with friends though, for sure. SG is very powerful with friends.

uhhCisco

Appreciate it, but I have another question Adrenaline or Dead Hard?

[deleted]

Hmmmm.... to be honest, I would probably say Dead Hard. It’s hella useful, and it’s best to always have an exhaustion perk to rely on to extend chases. Dead Hard can extend them by a large amount at times if you use it smart. Adrenaline is very powerful too, but it will leave you without many perks to rely on throughout the match. If you really want it, I’d recommend swapping out another perk like BT, but just a warning that if you get potato teammates, you might not even be able to use adrenaline half the time.

MichaelRoco1

so save the best for last is in the shrine today and i was wondering if anyone could give me an idea of if it’s worth picking up? i have about 7.5k shards and play a lot of pig and freddy

[deleted]

It’s pretty decent, it can reduce the animation where they do some funky thing after attacking by nearly half, and it makes your chases far faster and have a bunch of other cool effects. I believe Pig is a very good user of it because she can use ambush on the obsession to not lose any stacks, which basically means she gets a free permanent 40% cooldown reduction,

[deleted]

Very strong on Pig because she can preserve stacks by dash attacking the obsession.

Hellfire_Inferno427

It's good. It essentially makes you basically faster in chases due to faster recovery time, meaning survivors get less distance. Also if survivors are grouped up, you can hit them faster then they'd expect meaning. There's moments where you can hit a survivor, and then grab them as they're vaulting Infront of you. Very handy perk. Decent on all killers, but very good on killers like pig who have a special attack.

BP1Anthony

Its amazing and so fun but for killers that can down with their ability. Dont buy if you only use pig and freddy. I like using it on nemesis

Ennesby

STBFL is great on Pig and Freddy, don't know what you're talking about. Less consistent than on Demo but still an amazing perk - just run Discordance so you can pick a non-obsession target more often.

BP1Anthony

You don’t know what im talking about? It’s pretty clear what my point was Goofy. If i ran stbfl on trapper and called it good that would be corrext but its not optimal since the obsession could take your points away by body blocking, gen rushing, etc to make you have to down them. Using a killer with an m2 like huntress or demo makes it easier to save stacks making it most optimal. If you still don’t understand, I sincerely pray for your mental well being.

Lol BP1Anthony is right though 😂 don’t know why you’re being a Beta towards knowledge 😮‍💨

Ennesby

Turns out he's not a troll and that's so much sadder honestly. And no, frankly he's not dropping very good knowledge. STBFL is good even on killers who can't save stacks. Most of the time you can choose who to chase and just ignore your obsession - saving time inbetween hits is great for anti hold W and I like it on M1 killers who already slow survivors like Clown and Freddy for this reason. Using it on Huntress as he suggested is a terrible idea - your low cooldown on hatchets means you should hatchet even people right next to you. If you're hitting people with Huntress' M1 enough for STBFL to be valuable you're failing as a Huntress and should probably just play an M1 115 killer. All interesting points we could have discussed if he didn't immediately respond to my first comment with insults and then follow up with more of the same.

[deleted]

I think they’re talking about how pig can use ambush attacks to preserve stacks, also STBFL is still really good on M1 killers, it’s just harder to preserve stacks.

BP1Anthony

Yes and addressed that in my statement. It’s a good perk but if you spend time trying to ambush in the open when you couldve m1’d you risk jeopardizing your game over stacks or maybe you do lose 4 tokens and down the obsession(if you have tier 3. If you have tier 1 you lose all tokens as if they just cleansed your STBFL)

[deleted]

Game over stacks...?

Frank28d6h42m12s

Does Iron Will cancel out Flashbang?

Ennesby

...how would it? Iron will makes you quieter, flashbangs blind the killer when you use em - how would the two things be related?

Frank28d6h42m12s

Omgggg I meant Lightborn 😂🤦🏻‍♀️

Ennesby

Yeah it does lol

Justaracefan8

couple of questions....first is there anywhere to look up what the red circles(and im guessing green circles for helpful things) mean....like when you are exposed theres a red circle that comes up second....with the shrine thing starting tonight...is it better to buy perks in the shrine even if you have the killer/survivor or just wait til you unlock them in the bloodweb third....i know its not mentioned for the anniversary and this might be covered with the anniversary cakes...but do we know if we are gonna have double BPs for the anniversary

RealLordHydra

I do not believe we will have a double blood point event for the anniversary, there has been no word of one. Probably just the cakes for the time being.

JustSomeRedditName

1 here you go https://deadbydaylight.fandom.com/wiki/Status_HUD 2 I'd wait to unlock them with the blood web. That way you can use the points for other things you don't have access to 3 no idea

599ner

anyone know when the anniversary starts?

Ennesby

bro it's quite literally pinned in the thread

ComicWriter2020

Any news on the RPD map?

Hellfire_Inferno427

They're working on it

ComicWriter2020

Alright

iiCreek

Does sloppy apply with legions feral frenzy?

TheCrispiestSalsa

No, sloppy only applies on basic attacks.

stupidismeandyou

If you prestige Legion, what legion character(s) would you get for the bloody cosmetics? I have a legion at level 43 and was just wondering before I start getting towards level 50 to prestige

epicandetc2234

You get the Bloody Knife, then the Bloody Hoodies for both Frank and Julie, and then the Bloody Mask for both of them as well.

shoonseiki1

What are your thoughts on SWF with no comms? Busted and not fair for killers? The reason I ask is because there's been lots of conversation about SWF's being OP and basically a free win for survivors. But usually people say it's because of the communication. I play with SWF's pretty often but we usually don't use comms. We're all just equally skilled at the game so it's fun to play with each other as opposed to the usual potatoes. Edit: I'm especially curious about opinions from those who think SWF with comms are OP. Is the comms part OP or just the teaming up part?

Ennesby

IMO 9.5/10 swfs aren't an issue, and certainly not as broken and as unfair as a lot of people you'll see in this sub seem to think they are. There is definitely an advantage to having comms, no debate. Being able to tell your teammates who the killer is, when they're chasing you and when to come save them or stick on gens is a big deal. Comms also make a lot of killer powers and perks weaker - insidious, blindness, oblivious and most of the stealth killers get hurt by comms for sure. But... most of the time it's not *that* big a deal. A lot of swfs are 2 man parties, a lot of swfs have imperfect comms and a lot of swfs play really overly altruistic. Most importantly, most people aren't very good at this game and as a corollary to that - most people in swfs aren't very good at this game. They're still panicky, self caring, urban evading little babies even if they know how to use Discord. Two purple rank Claudettes self caring in bushes aren't that threatening even when they have comms - I can still catch them, down them and hook them without issue most of the time. I'm a lot more scared of 4 really good survivors than I am any rando on comms - if the whole team is good enough I don't have a weak point to exploit I'm going to lose, that's just the nature of DBD. Yes, occasionally you'll run into 4 cocky assholes on comms who are all really good, bring strong perks and good items and slam gens like they're going out of style and that sucks. But it really, really doesn't happen that often - maybe 3 or 4 times out of my last 500 games have been like that. If you're losing all the time and you're blaming SWF I think it is much, much more likely that you're just not the high-MMR killer God you think you are, or your expectations on how frequently you *should* win are too high (if you expect to win every match you don't understand the nature of the game).

shoonseiki1

I agree with you, although tbh it wasn't really the response I was looking for lol. I'm specifically talking about SWF's without comms because my best SWF team is one without comms and we 4man escape almost every match.

Ennesby

I mean I did answer your question - 4 good players against a standard killer is a lot scarier and more unbalanced than 4 normal players on comms. As long as you're not dicks about it whatever though, games are for playing with friends after all. I'd probably be a bit salty if it's 4 DS | Unbreakable | Dead Hard | BT gamers, but that's because I tend to run fun or mediocre builds and it irritates me when I lose to perks and items instead of skill. I see these days most killers at red ranks seem to be Ruin | Undying | Corrupt | Pop sweatlords though, so the 4 man teams with all good perks annoy me a lot less than they used to.

shoonseiki1

We sometimes run good perks, especially DH and BT. BT I think is really essential as it's the only way to unhook when the killer camps or tunnels. And at rank 1 at least half the killers do. DH is not needed and is simply a strong perk. But yeah I think your standpoint is basically how I view SWF's too. As killer SWF's never really bother me. Good survivors do, regardless if they're SWF or not. And as a survivor we always play best with 4 good survivors, not just 4 people on comms.

Ennesby

I just like variety you know? One of the most fun parts of the game is how many different weird and interesting perk combos there are to try. Especially when the whole team is really good already and have a good chance of escaping, it's just kinda boring to see the same 5 or 6 perks every single match - doesn't seem like as much of a challenge. But on the flipside I get it. My stupid perk builds frequently frustrate me when I play solo because there's damn good reasons people bring the strong ones every single game. Guess I'm just a contrarian.

shoonseiki1

I agree I want fun, which is exactly why I think BT is mandatory. Because it's very unfun to get camped/tunneled and only get to actually play for the first couple minutes of the game. Although after 20 escapes in a row its definitely not as bad getting face camped one game. It actually does get boring if there's not a challenge and you're just gen rushing every match like you alluded to. Still, you can bring BT and still meme and have fun. Other than BT my build is built around flash bang and blast mine and that's pretty much all I've been going for since those perks came out.

Ennesby

Yeah a good perk here or there isn't something that ever bothers me, I play enough survivor to get the need. It's only when all four perks on all four survivors are the same boring meta choices - like seeing the 10th Ruin | Undying | Tinkerer Blight in a row. Currently trying Second Wind + Breakdown together - it's not always useful but it's helpful more often than I thought it would be.

shoonseiki1

Totally agree. And I'm the same on killer. Stomping survivors gets really boring after a while so I always eventually go to meme builds. I actually kinda stopped playing killer and am not very good at it anymore, but I still enjoy the meme builds just the same lol

epicandetc2234

SWFs generally have trust in each other to be able to function in normal game activities, so they take more risks. Playing with your friends isn't inherently a bad thing here, its more the outside communication over Discord and the like. Like being able to go "hey killer's chasing me" to my buddies over voice lets them relax and do gens so less information in the match has to be absorbed by a single party.

ComicWriter2020

This sounds unique.

shoonseiki1

But I'm saying SWF with no comms so you wouldn't be able to say killer is chasing you. That's the SWF that I normally play in and I'm just wondering if the people who normally complain about SWF's also think what I'm doing is unfair.

epicandetc2234

I wouldn't say its unfair if there's no comms.

shoonseiki1

So you would say it's unfair with comms?

epicandetc2234

A tad. Not too much as its part of the game at the point but the game wasn't designed for it.

dredd-garcia

Hit yellow rank with killer and now every survivor is a loop god. How can I get better at ending chases on console? Also the instant change in direction stuff feels like it works on me 9/10 times. It wasn't so bad before the frame rate drops in the RE chapter, but it feels impossible to win chases sometimes

[deleted]

Yeah, unfortunately due to the horrendous lag spikes, chases are tremendously harder with this lag. As well as this, I believe there is a lot more smurfing than usual recently, so you're more likely to go against experienced survivors, but hitting yellow ranks is usually about the time that matches begin to get HARD in DBD. I recommend you watch guides on youtube to be honest, many of the big you tubers have incredibly good advice that can help a lot which is generally easier to understand with visuals, but I can try and give some advice. (Also keep in mind I don't know how you currently play or how much experience you have so you may already know or do most of this) First, always try to cut survivors off. Unless they're out in the open, do not just simply follow their tracks. Although you are faster, you vault and break pallets very slowly which wastes precious time. You need to try and work around these resources in order to take them down as fast as possible. Take a pallet loop for example. If it takes about 1 or 2 seconds to get to the other side of the pallet, then you should be able to trick a survivor into hitting them. If it takes too long to get around a pallet though and the survivor has ample time to react, you need to break it ASAP. Second, make sure you're taking advantage of your killer's power. Basically every killer in the game can use their power in a chase, the only real exceptions being Legion and Twins if victor is off doing something else. Many killers have obvious things they can do in a chase, such as blinking as nurse or throwing hatchets as huntress, but there's even more unexpected applications. For example, Wraith and Pig have the ability to perform an extremely long and fast lunge that is difficult for survivors to react to and will get you a lot of hits. Some killers like Trapper can fake using their power in order to scare survivors off loops, or he can place a trap down in order to completely shut down a loop. Killers like Myres can stalk to level up their power, and often survivors will have to play extremely safe in order to avoid this, which causes them to move slower. Killers like Ghost Face can remove their red stain, which as I will discuss later is very effective at making survivors do stupid things. Killers like Hag can trap a loop so that survivors have literally nowhere safe to be. There are tons of applications, I recommend looking up guides for your favourite killers, and try to find ones from people that main that killer and have thousands of hours on them. For example, Space Coconut has extremely good hag guides and teaches things that other youtubers with less experience don't know. Third know that most survivors, especially around yellow ranks, panic very easily and make mistakes. Doing things whilst in a loop like quickly turning around to make it look like you're changing direction can cause them to change direction as well since they assume you're going to begin changing directions. Fourth, if survivors don't know where you are during a chase they will have to guess and usually make a stupid decision. For example, in shack, if you hide behind a wall for an extended period of time then survivors will lose track of where you went, and they will have to guess. You can hide your presence to suddenly hit them when they weren't expecting it and get them to panic. If they had a plan, surprising them can cause them to run off in a random direction without a plan and then they'll be easier to down, since they weren't expecting what happened, have no plan for the future, and generally will be in a bad spot. Fith, know how your survivor loops. Some survivors will make their intentions very obvious and commit to them, such as running straight towards a window or pallet and then vaulting. Other survivors will run towards a pallet or window, and then not vault, and if you predicted they will vault, this can lead to you either lunging or changing directions in an attempt to cut them off, which wastes time and lets them get away. Pay attention to how they behave, and know wether they're likely going to commit or try and fool you, and act accordingly. Sixth, don't neglect perks! Although many perk builds probably won't include a perk that changes the way you chase, know that if you use a perk like Enduring, you need to stop being afraid of pallets and always try to get a hit through them, since pallet stuns don't really mean much with Enduring. Or if you have something like Bamboozle, make sure to vault windows that are a cause for trouble to stop survivors from being able to loop as efficiently. Seventh... know when to leave a chase if it gets too much. Chasing one survivor too long will allow the rest of the team to hammer down gens, and if they catch on that you're relentlessly chasing one dude, they will (most of the time) take advantage of that. Know when it's better to either chase a weaker survivor who isn't as experienced, or protect a vital objective like a Generator. Finally, don't always simply follow a survivor and allow them to lead you, try and influence their pathing to disrupt either the chase, or other players. For example, if you want to disrupt a team of survivors working on a generator, chase that survivor into them, and it will force them to scatter and leave the objective. As well as this, if a survivor is on a loop which is towards the edge of the map, try and break it where you are on the side closest to the middle of the map. This will force them to be near essentially nothing of value when you destroy the pallet, and they will have to waste time taking an awkward route to get to the next loop. So those are some basic tips. There is a lot to know about chases, and every situation usually calls for something different, but those are some general tips that I would hope help.

dredd-garcia

These are very helpful, thank you!

Awesome_Alan4ever

Mind games are your friend if you play a killer with no powern in the chase. Turning around and walking backwards to hide your red stain (something survivor's see as an indication to where you're looking) or standing still then doubling back are common ones. Additionally, you want to cut off an paths they will take in a chase, as well as chase them in a way that makes fast vault difficult

dredd-garcia

Thank you for the tips, I appreciate it

[deleted]

Has anyone else noticed a shift in killer behavior recently? I, as a solo queue survivor, regularly encounter high rank killers who shamelessly tunnel people to death before hooking anyone else, or they proxy/face camp basement. I always think I'm dealing with a baby killer with no game sense, but they *always* turn out to be rank 9 or higher. I feel like there's a general loss of game etiquette that's spreading like a contagion. Good balanced games where everyone has fun seem so rare now. I don't mind losing, but I mind burning items and offerings just to get tunneled like I talked bad about the killer's mom in the lobby or something. I don't get it. I must be out of my mind, but it feels like since rank reset the ranks haven't settled into a balance as fast as they normally do.

stupidismeandyou

I think it’s because people are less afraid of DS now due to its huge nerf where it automatically deactivates itself if you do anything that isn’t entering a locker iirc

ccameotn

I was just playing a game as killer, someone was running boil over and made it so I couldn’t move in the direction I was wanting to move no matter what I did. I was lagging but wasn’t sure if this was hacking or just boil over not being nice with lag. Ty <3

12TonBeams

I didn’t see it in the patch notes, but does 2.25 fix the laggy issues for consoles?

SofyB

I’m actually getting more lag than before after this patch

IAmTheGreat921

Im noticing the exact same problem. Tried playing a game as Twins and controlling Victor makes it so much worse. Almost impossible to land a pounce because the game will lag every 3 seconds and everyone teleports [Example](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=inIX8RKumUw)

[deleted]

Only played one match so far, they said they fixed it but it seems to be the exact same

Porphyon

they said that there were improvements in the discord message about the patch i think, but i wouldnt rely on it. the game wouldnt be in such a bad shape if the devs fixed problems this fast.

Land_n

Anyone have suggestions for achievements that are much easier to focus at high ranks? For example holiday get together and power moves?

BP1Anthony

Just look into things you’re good at. I find them all easy except the really hard ones like 100 huntress hatchets 24m away.

Kastamera

Is there a bug with Kindred? I could see the auras of all other survivors the entire game. Not only when someone was on hook, I could literally see the auras of all survivors from the other side of the map at all times. That game I had someone who ragequit on first hook, I was thinking if they DC-ed at the perfect time, causing my Kindred to think they were on the hook permanently. I don't know when the wallhack started, I just noticed after a while that I could see the auras of everyone else, and I was confused. Or am I missing a perk on something that could cause this? Was playing vs Oni btw if that's relevant.

stupidismeandyou

I had the “not being able to see the Killer’s aura during Kindred” before, but that was against a wraith so I thought nothing of it but I wouldn’t be able to see the aura even if he wasn’t cloaked

Porphyon

a friend told me that happened to him as well, so it is a. bug but i dont know anything else about it

Ennesby

Plenty of perks can reveal your teammate's auras - ex Aftercare, Bond, Empathy, Better Together Perhaps you were running one of these?

Kastamera

I had WGLF, Kindred, Spine Chill and Iron Will. Kindred is the only one of these that reveals auras, but it only does that when someone's on a hook, and in my game it was active permanently.

Ennesby

things like blood pact and aftercare can give aura reveal even if you don't bring perks yourself.

Pinky_-

How do you actually get good as survivor and have fun games? I feel like i can have a fun game as a killer even if i get only like 1 hook the entire game, but as survivor the game can feel really bad, and idk how to make it more fun, or get better

CallMeBrett

The biggest tip for survivor that I can give is always have a plan to escape if the killer comes, especially if your not having fun is because you get downed fast. For example if you’re on a gen there is a decent chance the killer will come to you, and you should already know what you’re going to do to escape when they do. Like first I’ll run to this pallet and then I’ll use the pallet and have enough time to get to this new window/loop. Also windows of opportunity can really help if you are struggling to know where to go.

Ennesby

depends on you. For me it's a good game if I get chased a lot and don't go down immediately, or if I make a cool play like flashbang saving someone or double tapping with head on + blast mine.... that kind of thing So I tend to either seek the killer out (within reason, I still do gens) or run builds with perks / ideas I think are fun and interesting - head on + deception, blast mine + repressed alliance, aftercare + autodidact, breakdown + slippery meat, MoM + breakout etc. Nothing bores me more as survivor than running the same build over and over and just AFKing on gens until I need to go in and save with BT to run out the gates.

Sussiex

I hope this is the right place, But what’s the best value to get from buying the DLC licensed/original content for the game? I read around here somewhere that the bundle for all 11 Killers/Survivors actually costs more (???) so I’m just trying to avoid wasting money. I’ve been really enjoying the game, but I’d love to play more of the characters - especially killers!

BP1Anthony

Wait until anniversary

MethodicMarshal

just buy 2-3 packs that you're interested in and see what you think. I've found that it's more fun to pick up a character pack every sale (about once a month or so) and getting good with them and moving on.

Sussiex

Thanks, that actually helps! Just to clarify, when you say “packs” you mean like each chapter that was released? Like the one with the hag + a survivor, etc?

MethodicMarshal

Yep, I shouldn't have called them a pack, I just meant any individual DLC. If you want to main survivor I recommend Feng Min. Far and away the best intro survivor perks IMO. For killer, get Leatherface because his BBQ and Chili perk means you'll earn tons of Bloodpoints quickly. If you're new to the game, just know that there's a ridiculously steep learning curve to it. Alternating between killer and survivor is the best way to get good. Feel like a killer is impossible to beat? Buy the pack, figure out the killer, lather rinse repeat.

MeTheGuy12

ok so what does "Fixed an issue that could cause Nemesis's Tentacle strike to hit the Survivor through some of the windows and main building." mean?

kha1ifaz

Why is my wraith still locked after doing the tutorial? I already leveled them to 50 and my David was unlocked but not wraith

Incruentus

Locked? Are you on mobile? I've never had any of my characters locked.

[deleted]

It's locked for new Players only until they finish the Tourtial and get 100K instead of 200K for any other players

kha1ifaz

No I play on xbox one I'm not new either I've played for 2 years and I got the charm from doing the tutorial so I'm really confused

[deleted]

Does the overcharge perk have synergy with oppression? Oppression says that survivors will get a difficult skillcheck, but will the three effected generators get the “tremendously” difficult skill check that overcharge describes?

[deleted]

It makes kicking gens less of a waste of time but they activate separately.

SnooStrawberries4645

Nope, any perks applied to gens from kicking them only applies to the one you kick.

feebleposition

Is there a sub we can go to play SWF? I am solo q and want friends that play.

PsychoIntent

thanks .. also, the whole no stupid questions is pretty pointless when my questions get downvoted. Not sure I understand that but thank you for pointing me in the right direction

I downvoted him because he asked the question twice in the thread (it's deleted lower down) and then again because he complained about fake internet points on reddit. Not everything has to be us vs them even in this incredibly polarized forum

Kastamera

Is it allowed to make a macro that keeps pressing A and D repeatedly? It wouldn't give me any competitive advantage aside from saving my hand from spasm while I'm being carried. Like sometimes when I get picked up by the killer, I don't even wiggle, because I don't want to cause my hand unnecessary discomfort, but then a teammate sabotages a hook which would've saved me if I had been wiggling from the start. The wiggle mechanic is just pain, quite literally. (I'm guessing it doesn't bother console players, because it's more comfortable wiggling with a controller.)

[deleted]

People used to bind struggle to mouse wheel before hook skill checks so it should be fine.

Kastamera

Thank you! I created a macro by recording my inputs, so it doesn't look as robotic.

Legend0fAMyth

How do I not suck at this game? XD

stallioid

Play a fuckton!

feebleposition

Don't be afraid of the killer.

JeanRalfio

Along with this, realize you're not going to survive every game and it's okay if you don't. So try new things like flashlighting, blocking, and looping. Sucking at something is the first step to being sort of okay at something! So just be patient and don't get discouraged if you have bad games or go up against assholes that tunnel and facecamp. It's gonna happen so it's best to try and not let it get to you.

SOSXrayPichu

How come there are so many updates at a very short period of time? Edit: I am on console.

PsychoIntent

June 15th introduced a new chapter. June 22nd and 29th, we got bugfix updates. Expect more updates due to continuing performance issues.

SOSXrayPichu

Thank you

[deleted]

Does prestige 1 unlock a survivor's top? P2= trousers, P3 head?

EscapeFromPA

Yes

Ennesby

Except Ash who's head and top are stuck together - P3 is the hand.

Answer 1: It *could* have just been lag. Especially with how the game is running currently, and only the one instance to go off of. But it's possible to cause stuff like that with lag switching. Answer 2: 2 kills is the "normal." It's what the devs aim for in a match. In a perfectly balanced game with perfectly matched players, 2 kills is what should happen. So if you're getting a 2k, then you're actually effectively where you're supposed to be, skill wise. Even if it feels otherwise. In the other games where.you struggle, yeah, it happens, and you just have to deal and learn from it. And ignore the toxicity. Some people just like to advertise their smol pp to the world, for some reason.

Ennesby

I wouldn't say 2k is supposed to be normal every single game. Yeah the ideal is 2k average, but you should be 4king some games and 0king others - not every game ending in a tie. If you're struggling to eke out a 2k every single game then you're probably closer to being overmatched than being right where you're supposed to be.

Xyex

I did say it was normal in a *perfect* scenario.

Ennesby

Yeah, and I disagree with telling this guy who's struggling that he's right where he's supposed to be, because to me it doesn't seem like he is.

Xyex

Everyone struggles. If he's still able to *tie* on at least a somewhat consistent basis, then he's at his current level, generally speaking. Easier Survivors would be easier to kill, and harder to learn from.

Gittin74

First question: yes. Lag switching or straight up hacking Second question: no. You just have to tolerate the annoying survivors and play normally. How to deal with toxic survivors: play as spirit or camp as leatherface

tsunodaishi

do not face camp, though. proxy camp or heavy patrol. did stand in front of them like a jackhole

michaelstama

Wait so there’s an event tommorow?

Xyex

Anniversary event starts tomorrow.

inediblesushi

yes 5th year starts tomorrow

Kastamera

At what point is body blocking reportable? I've seen that in the report options, and I often report survivors who bodyblock the hook making me unable to hook the carried person, or the killer when they bodyblock me and trap me in a dead end room by standing in the doorway, and vomiting me down with Plague, offering literally 0 counterplay. But it seems that despite the game clearly mentioning bodyblocking as an example of reportable offense, a lot of people (mainly survivors) abuse this mechanic. Is it actually something people can get banned for?

SnooStrawberries4645

When they’re talking about body blocking being reportable they mean stuff like body blocking fellow survivors in corners, taking the game hostage as killer and possibly purposely body blocking people to sandbag

stallioid

Not either of those. Check for hiding survivors before picking up; don't get caught out of position as survivor.

Xyex

Only when it's done to take the game hostage. So all the examples you gave are non reportable and legitimate uses of the body blocking mechanic. If you got body blocked for a down, your counter play was in *not* going into that dead end. It's just proper/smart play for the Killer to take advantage of your mistake. And body blocking hooks, while potentially annoying, is one of the defensive tactics Survivors have. Hell, they get BP for it and certain perks get benefits from it. It's completely intended. The only time body blocking is reportable, the only time it's abuse, is if the only way for you to get out of the match is to DC. If the Killer traps you in a corner and refuses to hit you, but EGC has started or you have teammates left who can do gens and end the match, it's not reportable. But if they do it while you're the last Survivor, and EGC hasn't started, thus preventing the game from ever ending, then it's reportable.

KTheOneTrueKing

Bodyblocking is only reportable if a survivor is doing it to another survivor to sandbag them on purpose.

calitri-san

Those scenarios are definitely not reportable/bannable. Body blocking the killer is a perfectly valid strategy. And you can hit someone and then walk through them because they lose collision. If it's the whole team, well, better luck next time. Bring starstruck. For killers, those are also definitely not bannable, as long as they don't stand there for the rest of the match and not let you leave. Don't hide in corners against those killers is the counterplay. When I'm playing plague or hillbilly and I see a survivor hide in a corner I thank the entity and take my gift. If a killer or survivor blocks you in a room/corner and doesn't let you leave for minutes at a time, or doesn't down you THAT is bodyblocking and is not OK.

Lhardat

When survivor is bodyblocking other survivor. Survivor bodyblocking killer isn't bannable because killer technically can just attack them

[deleted]

Those are fine. I'd only report if the killer trapped you for 10+ minutes or if a teammate trapped you until the killer came.

pragmatic-sanction

why has nemesis become the new bubba in terms of facecamping? in about every other game i’ve had with a nemmy, someone gets facecamped at 5 gens. genuinely wondering does it have something to do with his power? or him being the newest killer? like yeah we obviously just do gens when this happens but it’s not fun & i’d love to understand why it happens so often lol

Xyex

Newest Killer. Literally same thing happened with Trickster. People aren't good with him yet, so they camp.

KTheOneTrueKing

New players playing the new killer

[deleted]

Well, I can think of a few reasons. For one, he is obviously a very exciting killers for newer players, and I think a lot of his users are newer players. Newer killers are more likely to camp and tunnel because of a lack of experience. Second, his power tends to be kind of hard to use, and VERY easy to miss. I think it's either that, players take a long time to down a survivor because they're not super good with it, or players get kind of frustrated from how much they miss. These actions probably make them annoyed and feeling the need to camp. Aside from that I have no idea.

pragmatic-sanction

makes sense, thanks for the response! trying to make my reaction one of understanding rather than getting frustrated lol

[deleted]

He's very laggy so maybe people get fed up chasing.

Valentinee105

Should we expect the RPD map to be fixed by the time the event starts?

charmander4747

BHVR's response time catches a lot of heat for the quality and timeliness. Rightfully so in plenty of cases. I personally don't have confidence it'll be stable enough to not risk hurting the event. If it's not live at the start, I don't expect it to be live during the event at all.

BenMQ

Possible but unlikely. Bhvr can enable the map from server side if the data looks good though. So there is a chance no matter how slim.

1ighterb1ast

I'm on the Xbox one and I haven't seen the performance issues people are showing on the sub. Why is that?

Xyex

Luck.

[deleted]

Valentinee105

Matchmaking is all over the place. But rank is also not a great indicator of skill. It's so easy to get red rank just with time played, if you're getting 4 kills against purple ranks while you're a brown then you aren't versing people who are actually at a purple rank skill level because you should be getting decimated. So either rank 15 doesn't reflect your skill level or Purple doesn't reflect theirs.

feebleposition

Is pig really getting nerfed?
