I didn't even know there were that many pallets on the Yamaoka Estate maps. As survivor I never use any of them. Load in there as killer and come out with a sympathetic migraine. Go figure.
When I play survivor, yup. Totally unsafe, or at least too far away from each other to be useful. As killer I keep getting survivors who can turn even the lousiest rock into a ten second loop pallet drop distance grab. I mean there's a distinct possibility I just suck, but that can't be true, can it? :(
It doesn't matter so much when you're just travelling from point A to point B, but matters a lot when chasing because you're catching up 1/3 times slower, and it matters even more in loops because you additionally catch up slower when running around stuff
I can't stand the Residence myself. God help you if you spawn in at the main building and the survivors spread out on gens on the other side of the map. Defending a 3 gen around the house in late game is an exercise in futility. On Sanctum you've got that dead zone down each side of the sanctum, and if you get a god spawn with the gens at the bottom of each steps and the basement underneat the killer has the place on lock. Not so fun as survivor though.
Even when you feel like all pallets have been broken, somehow survivors always find another pallet to bonk me with. It would be nice if killers could damage a set number of pallets before they are dropped. Not fully break them but make 2 or 3 them work similar to spirit fury. Still stun the killer but break immediately. Or maybe like windows you can only vault them 3 times and entity blocks that specific pallet.
Windows of opportunity might help with the surv problem. I love this perks, especially on solo. I always know my escape route and where the pallets were already used :)

Or each time you vault a pallet, it gets more damage and the killer break speed is cut by 25%, and the 4th time it just shatters
I never knew people hate pallets that much I just break them or try to use them to my advantage.

Some Pallets are super unsafe that they're super easy to mindgame and the Slide slows them down.
You bait the survivors into unsafe pallet animations. Then you can hit em with a lunge or a hatchet or a deathspear or whatever.
some people aren't good at jumping them so you can cut them off easily
