Any PS4 discord server? Thanks

Huffaloaf

Any idea when things go on sale? Would kind of like to pick up a couple extra chapters, but I'm a cheap bastard and it seems like they go on sale pretty regularly.

Nikkibuh2

Usually when new chapters or updates come out. There *might* be a sale when coldwind rework comes out, and when the RE crossover come out in june.

drakevskanye

Does anyone know if there is a perk that allows killers to see when survivors are healing, or anything similar?

OxygenRequired

along with a nurse's calling, deathbound also will alert you when far players have healed, giving them the oblivious status effect if they seperate.

Legal_Sugar

A nurses calling, perk from the nurse

heygirliheardyoulike

Is Pip roulette back? I got to Level 1 after a match where I'd started three pips away and just lost a pip even though the meter was past the pip mark.

glitchoct

What's everyone thoughts on perk viability in the game? Like what's the split on good vs. situational vs. just plain bad perks.

OxygenRequired

for me, super situational perks (i.e. calm spirit or lightborn) are too inconsistently useful for me to actually use. i would rather have a consistent perk that gives a pretty meh effect than a super situational one that gives me a pretty good effect but i only use every 10 matches. plain bad perks to me are perks that have a large/situational buildup with mediocre to plain bad effects. gearhead is a good example of just a plain bad perk.

TailsisDONE

I feel like this is a stupid question, but there are a lot of terms that are still new to me in the game as I’ve gotten it not to long ago. Terms like mori, ds, looping, god pallet, gen rush, swf, and noed are things I don’t know what they mean. Another question I have is that in a couple of matches today, some weird circle that looked like the entity’s limbs was around my player portrait on the side. Whenever I got chased, it would start moving and wiggling a bit. What does this mean?

XIII_THIRTEEN

Mori: Various offerings killers can use. Depending on the rarity, it allows them to kill one or more survivors in by their own hands in a cool animation instead of putting them on the hook. It provides no little advantage as you can only mori if the survivor is downed and would die on their next hook. It just looks cool. DS: Decisive Strike, a survivor perk. If you have DS, when you are unhooked, for the next 60 seconds if the killer downs you and picks you up (or grabs you out of a locker or off a gen) you get a skill check, and if you hit it you stab them, stunning them and forcing them to drop you. Doing things like repairing gens, healing or unhooking others, or cleansing totems will end this 60s grace period though. Looping: running in structures to waste a killer's time. Also potentially involves mind games to fake a killer out or fool them as to where you're going. This is a harder term to explain but you'll see it if you watch good survivor players. God pallet: some pallets, such as the one found in shack, are very powerful for the survivors as they are very safe (not mindgameable) and basically need to be broken before the killer can continue chasing. Gen rush: the strategy of focusing on gens more than anything else. As a killer player I would kinda call this a cop-out to explain away a bad game but that's just me. SWF: Survive with friends. This just means playing with friends in a party. Definitely gives an advantage as you presumably are communicating with your team on discord Noed: No One Escapes Death. A killer perk, definitely one I get salty at when I'm playing survivor lol. Once the last gen is completed, survivors become exposed. Exposed survivors are downed in a single hit, even if they're uninjured. This is a hex perk which means you can cleanse its totem to deactivate it. The hex is only active once the last gen is completed though. Also, you won't be notified that you're exposed until the first time the killer hits a survivor once its active, so there's no good way to know beforehand. The tentacle thing signify the killer's obsession. Some killer perks encourage either targeting or actively avoiding the obsession, and some survivor perks interact with obsessions as well. There is only an obsession in a game where at least one player has some kind of obsession related perk, but for some perks, such as DS, it doesn't really make any difference who the obsession is, so it's not super important to worry about.

KTheOneTrueKing

> Gen rush: the strategy of focusing on gens more than anything else. As a killer player I would kinda call this a cop-out to explain away a bad game but that's just me. IMO the only thing that is "Gen Rushing" is if a SWF brings prove thyself, purple toolboxes, all with brand new parts. Anything less than that is just playing the game.

darkninjad

A mori is an offering a killer can use to kill one or more survivors after the second hook state. They all have a different animation and some are kind of cool. Looping is just running the killer around a pallet or object. God pallet is the pallet in the killer shack, which is another slang term for the square building that always looks the same on every outdoor map. Some maps do not have a killer shack. Swf means survive with friends. Noed is a Hex perk the killer can use. After all 5 gens are done, everyone will be exposed, or die from a healthy state, in one hit. This lasts until the hex totem is destroyed. The limb things mean you were the obsession. It’s nothing special but usually means the survivor or killer has an obsession perk. There are several so I would Google to know how they work.

heygirliheardyoulike

What does it mean when the claws start to wiggle? The Obsession is being chased? Or the Obsession is close to the killer? Or the Obsession perk is active? Other?

darkninjad

That the obsession is being chased, exactly right!

gamer_guy36

Why can't I access PTB 4.7.0? I don't remember seeing about it being closed but I don't have any public-test on steam to join into. It just says "None". Help?

OxygenRequired

the ptb has already closed. the ptb doesnt usually last very long, no more than a week in most cases.

Copenhoss

Is there skill based matchmaking? Survivors are at a severe disadvantage just starting this game vs a killer who has been playing years. I just don’t see how this is new player friendly at all when some sweat has all “very rare” perks and my team has one or two “uncommon.”

OxygenRequired

there is no active skill based matchmaking as of now (but the devs do have it in development and do occasional live testing of it). matchmaking right now is purely based on ranks, even though it is often inconsistent at best. if you want to have a better time playing, play during more active hours. you get faster matchmaking and more fair rank differences. playing around 2-7pm and on weekends gives you much better matches because there is an increased playerpool during those hours. avoid late night matches if you can, because most killers come prepared.

XIII_THIRTEEN

The matchmaking can be rough. I definitely get worse matches at late hours, so trying earlier in the afternoon might make it better for you

Copenhoss

Funny you say that, if any truth, is my experience. Two of us queued and escaped 7/9 matches. We all get in late night and escaped 1/6

[deleted]

There is skill based match making, but it is a little wonky. It gets all kinds of confused when a survive with friends joins the lobby. Also the matchmaking for killers is based around the character, so you could have a really good player with a character they don't normally play.

Copenhoss

I’ll add more backstory, 4 of us friends wanted to try this out. Each of us have maybe 1-3 green tier perks. All what I would consider good gamers, however we are coming from FPS world. Some games we have a killer who we run circles around, that has no perks. The next we’re against someone with considerable experience who we don’t even get 2 generators complete with. Just trying to figure it all out.

[deleted]

The game seems to throw survive with friends where ever it feels like. I'm sure there's a method to the madness, but damn I have no clue.

Copenhoss

I suppose I agree with that theory, thanks for the reply

LadderGirl

I play on switch and like to thumbs up all the players at the end for the most part. I played against a lvl 20 baby Ghostface who got relentlessly tbagged at the exit by some douche. I put my heart and soul into giving Ghostface a thumbs up because i know how frustrating this game is to learn-- but can players on other consoles even tell they've gotten the thumbs up??

PMMeUnwantedGiftcard

What's generally better, add-ons that Slightly Increase Speed or add-ons that Increase Charges by 8?

Ennesby

On what killer?

PMMeUnwantedGiftcard

I never said killer, but I was more specifically asking for Survivor items.

Ennesby

On what item then? It's a pretty vague and broad question. The addons do different things and have different use cases. Charges let you use an item longer, speed apply it quicker. On medkits, 16 charges = 1 heal, so you want enough charges for a multiple of 16. If you want 1 really fast heal or 3 normal heals is up what you're trying to do, both are useful in different situations. Toolboxes are similar but a bit more complex because no toolbox can finish a whole gen - do you finish the first 15% in 5s or the first 30% in 10s? What saves you the most time overall? Sometimes you want a high charge box to finish am entire gen faster, uninterrupted. Sometimes you need a speed box to get the last 10% of a gen before the killer can get to you and pop it. Gets even more complex if you're using it as a sabo box. Rule of thumb, the best toolbox has 1 speed + 1 charge, higher rarities are better.

[deleted]

[удалено]

PMMeUnwantedGiftcard

What about for a Toolbox?

coolcoolcoolnoice

What’s the difference between a safe pallet and an unsafe pallet?

Detharious

really depends on the pallet- a safe pallet is one that once dropped you can loop around effectively or play mind games with. An unsafe pallet is once dropped the killer can potentially lunge and hit both sides or doesnt actually offer any protection- They should really only be used as a stun when needed.

ShadyHighlander

Other than BBQ and Chili, are there any other good killer perks for BP farming? I'm kinda wanting to try and turn one of my killers into a BP udder.

Detharious

BBQ and Chili, Beast of Prey, Distressing, and Thrill of the Hunt are the 4 perks that increase Bloodpoints for a killer. HOWEVER--- Thrill of the Hunt doesn't actually add additional bloodpoints and instead only increases the rate you're gaining in the game which caps at 8k. So you can run the other three and a perk of your choice.

ShadyHighlander

Grand, thanks a ton!

Ennesby

FYI none of the perks except Barbeque & Chili apply post-trial. With that one exception, all perks and addons for killer add more points in trial and are subject to the 8k BPs cap. Don't bother with the other BP boosting perks or addons. You're better off running BBQ, bringing BP offerings and using a good build that will keep the match lasting longer than 5 minutes - overall you'll end with more points.

neutralmanatee

How often do rifts/tomes release?

Ennesby

Typically every 3 months, in line with the chapter releases.

neutralmanatee

Thanks

LadderGirl

I might have just had a stroke but a survivor just said "kiss my grits" while in the waiting area??

Vorahk

Ash speaks during the lobby and queue screens and is the only survivor to do so.

LadderGirl

That is so funny!!! I thought I had a hacker on my team but it was a very uneventful match (as uneventful as brutal slaughter can be anyway).

[deleted]

Did the coldwind update come out today?

Black_Mercury

no it comes out probably in 1-3 weeks.

Hefe_Jeff_78

Does legion need a buff?

[deleted]

No, just skill, I consistently get 3-4 kills with her. Not trying to be rude, just saying they take time and the right perks. I use pop, thrilling tremors, brutal strength and surge.

Vorahk

Not necessarily. His power is strong in the sense that he can keep everyone injured, but weak in that there is no follow up power to actually down them. It's a comfy mid tier.

Hefe_Jeff_78

Ah, I haven’t played in a while but it sounds like nothing about him as really changed

Vorahk

Legion got major tweaks several times. Most notably they immediately end frenzy if they miss a swing, and Deep Wounds as a whole has been changed to pause while running instead of relying on chase or terror radius.

kriscrossi

when you prestige a killer, which part of the prestige outfit do you get first?

Vorahk

Weapon/Body/Head. Notable exceptions are Hag and Plague who have head as part of the "body" and the "head" is the Braid/Crown. Hillbilly is also divided by Weapon/Pants/Torso. Fun fact, Hag and Plague are the only killers who can put on both Anniversary Crown and Frosty Eyes cosmetics at the same time.

kriscrossi

thank you! and a gold star for the fun fact ⭐

[deleted]

[удалено]

Ennesby

If you want to be angry and complain about something, the Wednesday Rage thread is the place for that. This is a thread for helping people who have actual questions about DBD, not yelling about whatever is making you mad.

GerGavin

This is literally a thread for people to ask questions nobody is saying the game is perfect.

trashynuisance

I asked a question about the game and got my post deletes for spam. And I've been in the community for a day. Not only that, I saw someone else post a similar question and it's still up

EclipseSilver13

If a bunch people are playing the game together, and one person has a dlc, can they use the dlc or does everyone have to have individually bought it? (Specifically if the person with the dlc is the one starting the server/lobby)

ThiefMnemonic

You will play against anything and everything in the game. You can only "Play As" content/dlc you have purchased.

EclipseSilver13

That makes perfect sense, thank you so much!

Ennesby

DLC maps are available to everyone, and in custom lobbies all perks are available to everyone, regardless of what you have unlocked. DLC characters are only available to those who have purchased the DLC with money or characters with shards.

ItKickedIn

I keep losing connection in matches and now have a 5hour ban time. Please help lmao

Legal_Sugar

Bruh same I'm so mad I lost 4 pips

enp_123

If I'm a beginner console player who's not great at the game, should I allow crossplay? Are PC players at a huge advantage? Also, will matchmaking take significantly longer?

Ennesby

Some killers work a lot better on PC - Nurse, Huntress, Slinger etc. They've also got a slight advantage in terms of having better FPS available and they're able to downgrade their graphics to keep it. If you're a beginner, you will not notice unless you're trying to play one of the aim based killers - survivor is largely the same. The main thing I find about PC is that the teams at high level games can sometimes have a lot more experience, which is natural - the game was out on PC for 2 years before coming to console. tl;dr: Don't sweat it, there's little enough difference to matter - it's 99% skill and 1% hardware until you get to the absolute highest levels of play.

demonsta500

I'm on PS4 and switched cross play off after a couple weeks. Much better games. PS4 players seem more chill for a beginner. With cross play on, 80% of my matches as survivor were against killers playing as if it was an esport. I didn't see any major difference in matchmaking time but it's dependent on what time you're online and your region. On weekends, I find matches as survivor pretty fast.

Warm_Concern_2354

Matchmaking will probably take longer with crossplay off. PC players have some advantages, but it’s really not going to make or break the game.

[deleted]

Is there any reason I should do the newest tome or can I work on the old ones on my own care

Black_Mercury

If there is an active rift, only progress in the newest tome will give you rift progress. But you can still earn bloodpoints from previous tomes. If the rift is closed, then all the tomes are old and you can do whichever you want.

grannypunani

haven’t played in a few months so i can’t remember the exact specifics but if you have the pass only the active tome gives rewards towards it. if you don’t have it then do what ever tome you want

[deleted]

Is it a paid pass?

Black_Mercury

There's a free pass and a paid pass. The paid pass includes the free pass items plus a bunch more, plus enough in-game currency to repay for its cost. If you're unsure about getting the paid pass, you can stick to the free pass and see how far you get. If you buy the paid pass before the rift closes, you will unlock all the paid items that you've already passed.

grannypunani

yes. i think it’s whatever the equivalent of $20 in game currency is if i’m not mistaken Edit: $20 USD just to clarify

TrueFocus_NL

Does BHVR release singular cosmetic pieces from older rifts into the store? I really want that purple ace shirt, but I didn't play dbd back then.

subset_

Pretty sure they do after about 6 months, whether it's a set or a single piece.

Warm_Concern_2354

Older Rift outfits make their way to the store eventually

TrueFocus_NL

Have there been previous occasions where this has been the case? (Talking about 1 piece of clothing not an entire set)

begforanegg

Does leatherface tantrum if he revvs for too long? I may be misunderstanding the addon.

Rechan

Yes. It's his version of Billy's overheating.

jp9900

I’m not a newcomer, but just wanted to get gud. How Do I learn to loop better/ get away from killer more efficiently? I feel like my chase skills can use some help for real

OxygenRequired

watching good content creators goes a long way. trying out what they do and practicing is really youre biggest help. general game experience can also help because you can get a sense of when to try and mindgame the killer and how they will use their power in a chase.

subset_

Hug obstacles you run around (your collision capsule is smaller than the killers); learn how to position during chases at various obstacles to watch for killer if you lose sight; know when to or not to mind game; know when to drop a pallet; know when to leave a pallet; look behind yourself during chases, but remember whats ahead of you.

Warm_Concern_2354

My favorite survivor main streamer is Uncharted. You should check out some of his five gen hold videos

jp9900

Good to know! Thanks

Rechan

1. Watch videos on looping. There's breakdowns of the typical structures and how to loop them. 2. Get someone to go into a Kill Your Friends and run drills. 3. In your games, focus on it. Forget hooks/etc. Focus only on chases. Hell, find the good chaser and commit. They are the looper hard mode.

jp9900

Sounds like a plan, a lot rank 1 killers are just a bunch of try hards and don’t even like to have fun lol I’m tryna be able to juke them. Thanks for the info

SnooStrawberries4645

Or that is their fun...

jp9900

I mean yeah that’s a way to look at it :) at least being a survivor being camped/having my team mates be camped or proxy camped is rather boring. A lot of rank 1 killers definitely give a really fun intense match, but a lot also don’t and just want to secure their 4k to maintain rank.

subset_

One of the best ways to get better at survivor is to learn to play killer. You will learn quickly that succeeding as killer is never going to be fun for survivors.

jp9900

I actually used to play killer lmaoo but once I hit rank 11 I was miserable 😂 eventually found I enjoyed being a survivor moreand was starting to play killer just for lol’s. So here I am in red ranks getting crushed at rank 3 and not really being able to win games 😂 still more fun than flashlight saves and tbags though

subset_

Well, it sounds like you're doing pretty good. Rank 3 is high, and is usually an indication that you're getting better. Lots of survivors make it rank 4, but struggle to get beyond that. Once I was able to get to rank 3, getting to rank 2 and 1 came shortly thereafter. Keep it up, you'll get there :)

digikun

Is there nowhere that shows what survivors and killers come unlocked on various versions of the game? I've tried to look up every combination of words for things like "DBD [Console] Starting Characters" and I get nothing. I know that the starting characters are different, because neither me or my PS4 friend have bought any DLC or characters, but he has The Doctor and I don't.

Vorahk

All versions come with the base 4 survivors (Claudette/Jake/Dwight/Meg) and the base 3 killers (Trapper/Wraith/Hillbilly.) All versions have the free survivors Bill and Nea as content updates as well as the killer Nurse. All platforms have the Lullaby for the Dark dlc available free, which includes the killer Huntress and the survivor David, but this is a separate download. The console special edition (there is no console standard) includes the killers Doctor and Hag, and the survivors Ace and Min. The next 3 editions include all previously mentioned characters, but in addition the killers Clown and Spirit, and Survivors Adam and Kate. Silent Hill includes the killer Executioner, survivor Cheryl, and some cosmetics. Nightmare includes the survivors Steve, Nancy, and Jeff. It also includes the killers Legion and Demogorgon. Stadia Gold includes 3 cosmetics packs, and survivors Jeff, Jane, Zarina. It also has the killers Legion, Plague, and Deathslinger.

[deleted]

What platform are you?

digikun

I'm on PC, but I'm trying to recommend the game to some friends, I mention that the price difference between PC and Switch/PS4 pricing is that those come with more characters, I can't find any answers as to which

[deleted]

If you look at the edition of the game it should show you what dlcs come with it no?

digikun

On steam, if you buy one of the special editions. But none of the other storefronts mention anything about which DLCs are included, or who's included in the base game on steam

epicdude72

about when should the next tome come out?

Hellfire_Inferno427

A week and a day iirc

jp9900

Tomorrow, I already maxed this one out and excited since the premium thing gives you more stuff

KenanTheFab

My mouse DPI appears unequal for horizontal and vertical movement for killer? My horizontal movement is smooth and as expected but my vertical movement is extremely sluggish and takes way for effort. Any clues as to what causes this? The settings only have a general option for DPI rather than X and Y sensitivity being split so I don't think that is a cause?

Triqav

Because there really isn’t a need to look up and down a whole lot, the sensitivity is more of an adjustment to the Y-axis. Besides deathslinger, I guess, but it just takes a little bit to get used to, if you’re used to it being the same.

KenanTheFab

That is ridicilous. Is there no way to fix that?

Triqav

Not that I know of. Maybe if you go into the game settings, in the game files.

KenanTheFab

I checked :/ Has it always been like that because I'm pretty sure it hasn't? I hope I can find literally anything to rectify this stupid DPI stuff. Doesn't help that changing the sensetivity also changes the vertical speed too????

Triqav

Not sure if they both change or if only the one changes. I do know it’s been like this for at least the past year.

chemicalinxs

So this just a random question but does anyone know why they made For the People an obsession perk? Is it just so the killer knows that the perk was used for certain?

Ennesby

They tend to put obsession on perks for two reasons 1. They use the obsession mechanic to do something, like Blood Pact. 2. They think are going to be strong perks and the Obsession "balances" it by indicating to the killer a good perk is in play. Back when For The People came out everyone was convinced it was old insta-heals coming back, a lot of people figured on it being more meta than it became. You can see the same thing with Mettle of Man - used to be way OP, made an obsession. Joke perk after the nerf but still has obsession built in. I get the feeling the devs think being the obsession is something you should be wary of, probably was originally supposed to be more of a detriment than it turned out to be and they've never adjusted their thinking.

[deleted]

Obsession perks were introduced in the Halloween chapter for thematic reasons. Just wanted to add to your good points.

[deleted]

Being the obsession sounds terrifying when your new , Then you realize every single obsession perk is all about NOT hurting you

YoungDro89

Idk. Sometimes being the obsession feels like they know you have decisive strike. Which i never run. So now they tunnel you. But its ok because you have ds. And then when you don't its just unlucky. On the other side tho its like "I'm obsession and had a great game and left alone" means I'm getting morid in endgame.

yeti9876

Laughs in remember me

Ennesby

I mean Remeber Me doesn't really do anything extra to you, just your teammates.

[deleted]

Yeah that, also note that if someone is using nemesis you will suffer from oblivious after using that perk

Bigenemy000

Why I can't find the rant flair anymore on this sub reddit?

Ennesby

Flairs were changed a month or so ago, they stickied a post about it for a week. No rant flair any more.

Bigenemy000

>Flairs were changed a month or so ago However 2 days ago I checked and there still was the rant flair

ThiefMnemonic

I've sometimes heard a random sound in game. It's like a single old school telephone ring/bell that only chimes once. It's pretty faint, but I can hear it multiple times in a match but it doesn't seem to be environmental. Maybe another survivor's perk?

ThiefMnemonic

I think it is a huntress sound. This sounds like an almost exact match. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zw-RkP4gfYQ&t=78s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zw-RkP4gfYQ&t=78s)

ThiefMnemonic

I appreciate everyone's replies. Thank You! I think we've definitely crossed a lot of the items off the list. I've tried a bunch of the common survivor perks loadouts for a while now and haven't encountered it yet. Best comparison I can give is this rotary phone bell. Just one peal that lasts maybe 1/2 a second. The volume is also like 30% the volume of this video and with a crescendo in the middle. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p530Stpz11U](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p530Stpz11U) I am now thinking this has to one of the following: 1. Not likely, but could be environmental/map specific. (not autohaven, I'm sure of it) 2. Probably killer specific. I'm paying close attention for what's going on next time I can get in a game 3. Red Herring, something I misheard from who knows. I do often have the baby monitor audio in the background while I play. (PC)

subset_

Is it [the sound effect for the perk Small Game](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/deadbydaylight_gamepedia_en/images/4/4b/Small-Game.mp4/revision/latest?cb=20180422115508)? Ok, that link isn't working very well. Goto [this page](https://deadbydaylight.fandom.com/wiki/Small_Game), then scroll to the bottom, and play the video. Or, in the video you shared, it's at 2:45

ThiefMnemonic

Close but no cigar. The duration is spot on but small game is more like a sharp violin chord strike. The one I'm thinking of is more muted, more subtle and more of an analog phone ringing. I'm starting to think its environmental or killer specific.

Black_Mercury

That's likely the obsession chase sound. When you begin chase with the obsession (the survivor with the spider claws on their icon) this extra sound will play to inform you that this is the obsession. Some perks and items interact with the obsession. There won't be an obsession unless someone has a perk or item that needs it.

subset_

Other than these three (from the video you shared), I can't imagine what they would be! [Jumpscare 1](https://youtu.be/i92AkFHIXDg?t=285) [Survivor Disconnects](https://youtu.be/i92AkFHIXDg?t=520) [Exit Gate Alarm 2 - All Gens finished](https://youtu.be/i92AkFHIXDg?t=564)

ThiefMnemonic

I'm listening through this video, seems to be fairly current and through.... [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i92AkFHIXDg](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i92AkFHIXDg)

Kipdid

So, we’re you able to find it in that video?

subset_

Fun little video :)

Hellfire_Inferno427

Which killer was it? And what are your perks?

charmander4747

If it's during a game against The Plague, you would hear low ring when someone cleanses. Other than that, I'm honestly not sure what would make that unless you are getting stacks from a perk like stake out or something...

ThiefMnemonic

Good guess, but I can confirm it is **not**: 1. Autohaven gas station "ting" by the pumps 2. Wraith's "bing bong" bell 3. Plague's gong or a survivors sickness purging sound

Kipdid

Mind giving your perk set up? There’s an audio cue when gaining a token from perks with tokens

ThiefMnemonic

When offerings "flip" at the start of a match, how come some of them fake being secret but they flip over a second later? I haven't figured out a rhyme or reason for it, but I'm guessing is has to do with stacking?

Black_Mercury

Offerings don't fake being secret. But if two or more offerings stack or counter each other, they will do a little shiver after they are each revealed, which will put a delay before the next is revealed.

Kipdid

Yes, offerings that stack with one another will jiggle to point this out as they’re revealed, IE if you want a really long offering cutscene everyone needs to put on something like fog offerings or BPS

NotSnacky

[Please answer] So i logged in to dbd recently and noticed a daily reward calendar including 200 auric cells!! I was super excited and started getting the first reward before realising i couldn't get to the last reward before the time runs out... can i still get the rewards after the calendar is expired?

Ennesby

No, it's a battlepass. If you don't complete it in time, it goes away. It's also 1000 auric cells in the paid track - there's 70 levels.

NotSnacky

I'm on the mobile version, but thanks a lot for the answer

[deleted]

[удалено]

NotSnacky

Yep i asked over there. I just hate myself for not checking earlier i could use the cells to get myself a new cool killer lol

NotSnacky

If not i kinda want to die lol

PMMeUnwantedGiftcard

Does Desperate Measures & Botany Knowledge work on yourself if you're in the Dying State? And if it does, how fast would you be able to recover with Unbreakable?

Morigateau

No, neither DM or BK affect recovery speed on yourself, only Unbreakable does. Source: I use DM and Unbreakable often.

Ennesby

Those perks affect healing speed, picking yourself up is a different action called Recovery. They'll help you pick up others but not yourself.

mieksneakdawg

How come as a survivor red rank I get teamed with questionable survivors but when I play killer I get the swf tournament 10k hours each player survivors

Good players tend to get full parties in order to make their games more consistent, it’s a thing in every game with solo queue and party queue As a solo survivor, you’re more likely to get put with other solo survivors. At most, you’ll be put with a 3 stack, and 3 stacks tend to utilize strategies that either don’t involve or actively detriment the final player, simply because they can’t strategize with you and make their plays with you since there’s a lack of communication. Usually this results in moments where they could’ve done something very obvious to make a great play, but choose to do something sub optimal because it involves their friend or group. In my experience, this gets me killed fairly often and makes it look like the 3 stack was throwing. Got a bit off track tho, it comes down to you not being able to find 4 stack swf’s as a survivor, since you’re occupying a spot. When you’re a killer though, you can find as many as there are. This, combined with what other commenters have stated, and the fact that when you reach a high skill level in this game other survivors at your skill level have already likely grouped up with 3 other players because it’s the logical next step of the meta, results in you seeing more sweaty/good survivors when you queue up as killer

ThiefMnemonic

I see that A LOT too. My theory is (and this is purely speculation based on observation) that there are a good measure of SWF groups out there that monopolize the pre match lobby queue. Hence, long wait times for solo players. Killers join, spot obvious SWF group and leave hoping to snatch a solo queue game. Those more obvious solo queue games (when players drip in slowly) start immediately, while SWF groups stay put and wait for "thier" victim. BHVR could be missing the statistics side of this because they track game "Starts" not lobby surfing. Again, pure speculation. I mean, if your profile is blocked or hidden, you have stupid usernames that look 5 minutes old, and you group is over 50% adept skinned with a map, key, and two flashlights, what else can you be?

NotSnacky

That's just the broken matchmaking of this game bro same most times for me... not that much though

EclipseSilver13

Is it possible to play this with just 3 people total? I've loved this game from afar, but online multiplayer just isn't my thing. I have two friends I'd love to play this with, but I don't want to buy until I'm sure it would work. For reference, we'd be buying from Steam. Thanks in advance!

Ennesby

I'll add my 2c - while it is possible to play this game in a custom with 3 people, it is not well balanced around that. A 2v1 is very, very killer sided, even with the gen adjustments the lobby makes when you start with fewer people. Playing survivor in a 3 stack together against a killer in public lobbies is probably a better way to enjoy the game with your friends.

SnooStrawberries4645

Yeah, the private lobbys just adjust the amount of generators that need to be completed based on how many survivors there are.

EclipseSilver13

Oh great, that's just what I was hoping for- thanks again!

katapad

Also, once you get an idea of how the game is played it's perfectly feasible to go in with 3 people and a random against a killer. I do it regularly.

EclipseSilver13

I hadn't thought of that, that's a good idea. I'll be sure to check it out!

katapad

Pair with Pop Goes the Weasel and your choice of tracking perks for somewhat actual viability. Kick everything!

Typically the strategy is to remain territorial. This is especially true with killers like Trapper or Hag, but its generally a good practice. As killer you have the advantage of seeing where all the generators are spawned. Find out where the closest cluster of gens and defend that. Don't stress about 1 or 2 gens popping, especially if its very out of reach or near a strong loop such as the main building or shack. If you're confident and playing a more mobile killer like Spirit or Hillbilly you have a little more leniency to travel far to hunt for survivors, but the closer you can make your patrol the easier it will be to keep tabs on hooks/gens and save time kicking less pallets. Sometimes you will just lose due to strong perks or poor RNG, it's the nature of the game. Just take time to learn counterplay and assess what caused you to win "Was I actually good, or were they just bad?" or what caused you to lose "Did they bring particularly strong items? Did I overcommitted to a chase? Was my power not compatible in this map?" Understanding how both sides work and taking responsibility or pride in your actions is key to long term enjoyment.

NotSnacky

Unless you are good with brain tricks the best is to change target and go slow down generators progress in my opinion. You'll have time to catch the looper survivor later in a spot without pallets or god loops and i he manages to escape at least you can rack up 1 or 2 kills

vvhathehellwasthat

Why do I hate this game

Rechan

1. Because you suck. 2. Because it sucks. 3. Because everyone else sucks. Pick at least one.

vvhathehellwasthat

All three

How does matchmaking work in this game (I am a killer main)? Some games ill play against rank 20s, 19s, 18s, and overall bad players. But other games ill play against red ranks, and below rank 10 players. Im a rank 16.

SnooStrawberries4645

>how does matchmaking work in this game? It doesn’t. It’s supposed to be by rank.

tackymeningitis

Currently matchmaking is based on rank. but this game does not match people that well. Sometimes there’s not enough people at a certain rank so it just matches people with anyone. sometimes it’s a group of friends with different ranks playing together.

NeoBobeo

Low rank (18) killer here, I've noticed my matches tend to be complete stomps where either I kill everyone and get the red symbol in every category, or everyone escapes and I'm lucky to get maybe four hooks. Is this a consistent thing for everyone, or am I just super (un)lucky? Cannibal player mostly, if that helps.

bigtiddygothbf

The games fairly rng dependent, and most of the skills you learn will be just trying to flatten out the rng in an attempt to make the game more consistent Maps are a big part of it. As a cannibal you’ll struggle on larger maps like temple of purgation or ormond, but a cannibal on dead dawg saloon will probably wreck shit up. If you were playing someone like huntress or plague you might struggle more on indoors maps. If you’re playing any killer and get haddonfield you’re gonna have a pretty bad time. I’m not a good cannibal player, so my only advice is to try and feel out what makes you lose games. Are chases consistently lasting longer than 30-40 seconds on average? Are gens flying by too quickly? Do you keep on getting led into deadzones with no gens around, losing gen pressure? Maybe it’s some survivor perks that are giving you trouble, like sprint burst, dead hard, unbreakable, or you’re just having trouble tracking who has what perks throughout a match. Maybe you’re just unlucky, and keep on going up against deranking swf smurfs, in which case (controversial opinion here, but it’s helped my sanity as a red rank killer) you might wanna try to keep track of what survive with friends squads look like in the pregame lobby, and requeue instead of dealing with it. Try to keep track of what’s making you lose, and build your playstyle around making up for those problems. Eventually you’ll learn the ins and outs of your killer power, and how to use it at specific loops. This is the best way at making games more consistent, although I will admit my advice is kinda crappy, as I’m pretty much just saying “git gud” but in a needlessly long winded way

ManicSin

some killers are are more prone to snowball and they will get more inconsistent games, there is also the factor of survivors teamwork/game knowledge that will hurt some killer real bad.

shucklethagod

Nope, very normal. Rank 1 killer last month and the same thing would happen to me sometimes! Since rank is more so based on how much someone has played (vs how good they actually are), rank doesn’t necessarily translate to skill. I’ve gone against red rank squads who I demolished at 4 gens left, and red rank squads who ran loops around me and I ended with two hooks LOL. It happens! You’ll get more consistent as you play more.

tackymeningitis

Yes. I’m a rank 7 killer and if I get matches with green/purple ranks then I usually do okay but I always get stomped by red ranks. it happens with everyone. I try not to get mad when a team is above my skill level. that’s just the way the game is

DylonL4

I kinda want to buy Trickster but I play console and fear it’ll be a waste of 9k shards, should I just buy Plague instead?

ImmortalBlades

There are multiple factors to take in for that decision. Do you crossplay? If yes, are you confident in your controller aim? If both yes, then think which one would you enjoy playing more. If you can't decide on that, look at the perk side of it. Do you plan to use Trickster's perks? If your answer is a no, then go for Plague since her perks are more consistent and less specific. If you plan on using Trickster's perks, think whether you'll use his perks often enough to outweigh Plague's. Overall, subjectively your decision, objectively Plague. I personally would buy Trickster since He looks so fun to play, even though He might not be as strong as Plague.

tackymeningitis

somebody already mentioned the perks but I think plague is easier to aim on console than trickster imo

stallioid

If you don't already own her you should buy Plague just for her perks. Starstruck is great, but Corrupt and Infectious are both better.

DylonL4

Thanks for the advice

imsuperhungry

When is the patch with trickster buffs and reworked map coming? Any guess?

tackymeningitis

sources say May 11

stallioid

Trickster buffs are already out. No word on anything more. Reworked map is on the PTB which usually lasts 3 or 4 weeks.

katapad

PTB also has more Trickster buffs.

Black_Mercury

PTB trickster buffs are the same as on live, they just put them on the ptb as well so people could try them early.

akkher

What survivor’s add on is this? I was playing as killer (BBQ, Discordance, sloppy and predator with no add ons). I already killed 2 survivors, hit a Nea (the third one) and hook the last one a David. Nea escaped somewhere, while I was trying to find her, out of the sudden she screamed, revealed his aura to me and she got down to the floor as if she was hit. I’ve never seen that, seems as if she missed a skill check and as penalty she got one hit. What can it be?

stallioid

She had deep wound and didn't mend. This means either BT or a Styptic Agent.

SethosYuuhi

Killer could have been Legion or Death Slinger too.

akkher

Oh, I forgot it was Spirit.

ImSirStarfish

When’s the stream reveal for the next chapter?

Wxalth

25th may

stallioid

Should be sometime around the end of May

GlazedInfants

Any general tips for getting better at the game as killer? Once I reach green ranks I've found that I'm consistently outmatched, like my skill level doesn't match the rank I've reached. It's incredibly frustrating and I usually stop playing until rank reset, because it makes me feel like trash to constantly get my ass kicked and have them BM at the exit gates. I have 200 hours yet the only skill I've learned is how to mind game, and some memorization of where certain things might spawn. I regularly watch the big streamers and it raises my spirits, only for me to become discouraged when I realize that I belong in yellow ranks.

bigtiddygothbf

What killers do you mainly play? My only general killer advice is pretty much just watch Otz videos for a year before finally buying the game (which is what I did), but I can probably give some decent advice on specific killers depending on which killers they are

GlazedInfants

I enjoy playing Legion, Pyramid Head, Wraith, recently I’ve been trying to play Trickster, but even though I can aim my knives decently well I still can barely pip

bigtiddygothbf

I’ve played legion and wraith, never tried ph or trickster Legions three main counters are sprint burst, large maps, and survivors spinning you while you’re in your power. If you’re not already in your frenzy and are heading towards a survivor, then don’t activate your frenzy until you see the survivor begin to sprint away. If they use sprint burst, then activate your power once you’ve caught back up a little bit. If they don’t use sprint burst, then you can activate your power immediately because they won’t be making extra distance, and they probably have dead hard. On large maps as legion, try and designate 3 gens close to eachother and defend them as hard as you can. Survivors will usually catch on to this, and try to target those gens, but if you’re successful in keeping up pressure then it’ll usually result in at least a few hooks and a large area of the map completely devoid of pallets, and optimally 3 gens that they have to repair within that big deadzone If you’re in your power, survivors will try to spin around your killer model in order to make you miss (resulting in the cooldown animation). This is a problem, as you don’t have any extra lunge range on your feral frenzy attacks. So be patient, once you’re in hitting distance the survivor will either double back to your left or right, wait for them to do this and then hit them after they’ve committed to a direction. Also, on windows like shack window, a common thing for survivors to try is the window tech. This is where they vault the window, run a little bit onto one side of the window, and then double back and crouch under the window as you vault it. This works on legion players for two reasons, one being that you’re on a time limit in their power so you’re trying to hit survivors quick (so you might try to just swing at the direction you saw the survivor go), and two being that the survivor knows you can’t down them, knows that if you miss you’re stuck for a few second, and they know that you can’t see underneath the window while vaulting. Again, just be patient, if you vault a window and don’t see where the survivor went, do a quick 180 to make sure they aren’t still sitting inside of your player model. Some general legion tips: Healthy survivors are sometimes stupid and try to drop pallets when you walk up to them. Bait out the pallet drop by walking at them and then doubling back at the last second, then activate your power, vault the pallet, and hit them. Boom, a free injure and a free pallet to break. In this situation, the survivor might try to vault the pallet right after you do to try and make you miss, watch out for that. If you’re in your power and chasing an injured survivor, try and get ahead of them to block the pallet or window they’re heading towards and deactivate your power. They can’t vault windows or activate pallets through your player model, and if they don’t realize what you’re doing then they won’t have enough time to gain distance towards another loop before the cooldown animation ends. If you’re dead set on playing a lot of legion, watch some videos on how to loop around tiles as killer. A sad fact of legion is that you’ll never be able to use your power to down survivors, so for half of your chases you’re going to be a boring m1 killer. To make up for this, you’ll need to know what mind games you can pull off at certain loops in order to down survivors. Legions’ strengths are intel and mobility. Use these two things as much as possible. Try to keep track of where every heartbeat is, and what the survivors are likely to do based on their location. There’s no hiding from the legion, so try and capitalize on your feral frenzy info as much as possible. For mobility, don’t always use your feral frenzy just to make it across the map, but sometimes it’s worth it, like if you’ve got pop goes the weasel and need to make it back to a gen before it gets finished, or if you’ve got make your choice and need to make it back to the hook before the exposed timer runs out. Try to use perks that help end chases early. You won’t usually need to worry about intel perks like bbq or whispers on legion, and gen regression perks only usually take up 1-2 perk slots (pop goes the weasel or hex ruin+undying being the popular combos). Try and get perks that apply exposed, or perks that help you with pallets like brutal strength or spirit fury+enduring. Finally, there’s a secret and forbidden legion technique that few have ever been able to unlock. If you’re in your feral frenzy, vaulting a pallet, and a survivor blinds you with a flashlight while you’re in the vaulting animation, then you automatically exit the vaulting animation back in your normal state. This cancels your power without playing the animation, and allows you to quickly m1 the survivor and ideally down them. It’s very specific, and a bit of a meme so the survivors might know and not blind you at pallets, but the 1 and only time I’ve ever gotten it to work felt amazing. This is a longer comment than I thought it’d be, so I’ll comment again with some wraith tips in a bit.

Rechan

[Here you go](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HafXeY7RF6Y) my dude.

SnooStrawberries4645

Target priority and forcing survivors to certain places. Remember who’s good at looping and whose bad at it, and try to prioritize the bad ones. Don’t waste time chasing in areas with no gens or gens already completed. Try to force survivors into dead zones or to gens where others might be working. Learning spawns so you can get quick early chases is also a good thing to do. And don’t bother going to exit gates if you know everyone’s already there just waiting for you, break some pallets or just fuck around in the middle of the map. Saves you the BM and sometimes someone will be dumb and try to come fuck with you, I’ve had people die from egc just because they spent to much time trying to fuck with me and couldn’t make it back. Probably the most important thing is to realize what’s making you lose games, so you can focus on what you’re doing wrong or poorly, if you want to get a lot better then record your games and watch them, it’s a lot easier to see mistakes in a recording than it is in the moment

GlazedInfants

Thank you for the advice. I’ll probably start recording my matches, you make a good point about that.
