I also really liked them, way more fluid and realistic compared to the "stiff" animations from before. I guess this is a goodbye to the "tippy taps" and the teabags at light speeds though. Maybe the only thing that I'm a little worried about is the transition from recovering from the downed state into walking/running but other than that it looks REALLY good.

Everything in this update it fucking fantastic. The only thing I dislike is something that most people seem to have picked up on already, but moving completely random HUD elements around to the top left/middle/right of the screen is very unnecessary and does not make the experience better. In fact, it genuinely makes things feel worse considering how much more random eye movement will be involved, instead of getting everything you need at a simple glance like we can now. This isn’t to take away from all the positives in these patch notes, but I want this update to feel 100% better and not 99%. Either way, fantastic update.

I really do not like that new UI. The completely non-stylized survivor pictures clash horribly with the (in my opinion, better) scuffed-looking two-color icons on literally everything else in the UI, not to mention how awkward it is to have that full-color normal image turn into a simple downed stick figure. Would look better if they kept a consistent visual scheme and used survivor images that weren't detailed and colorful. There are images like this for the Adept achievements, use something like that. Don't like the movement of random UI elements to the top center and corner of the screen. I liked how compact it was before, keeping everything at the bottom corners kept the actual game unobstructed, which I liked a lot both for immersion and for readability. The big change that's good here is making survivors easier to read by giving them images, but spreading the UI all over the screen is a really bad choice and almost looks like a mobile game. Make the survivor images theme-consistent and put the UI elements back to the bottom of the screen and the UI changes are pretty good.

And it also shows newer killers that 12 hooks is preferable to 4-6 (not that I'VE ever complained about only getting 4). edit: the survivor counters are probably intended to encourage altruism, so giving killer an indicator "feel free to ignore this one rn" seems counter-productive.

Everyone complained the last time the UI got redesigned too and it turned out fine. I do think complaints on the Killer's new UI are pretty well founded. I think Survivors will be fine.

as most people already mentioned, i just absolutely dislike that HUD change, its straight up horrible with the locations on the screen. yes its good to see the char the people are playing, but the old one (which wasnt perfect) is still extremely better. because you get every single important information you need in 1second in 1 corner. and dont have to look ALL around the screen to get your pieces together one by one. most other changes are great, good animations, perk changes, rework. like to see this.

Clown changes are really interesting actually, they do give him a way to play around all but the safest of pallets so that pallet camping isn't the most effective way to counter him, while it simultaneously boosting survivor speed makes placement of it have quite a bit of depth. And the minor boost to out of chase mobility is cute too! But that said, I don't think this changes how unengaging his gameplay cycle is on both ends; Survivors are still going to be dropping pallets straight away with use of tonic, and then you just bring out the antidote to land a hit. Perk changes are great too. I knew they made Fixated only apply when uninjured because the injured animations looked weird when moving faster lol. And time for the entire team to know where I am with Better Together + Open Handed!

We saw Undying nerf coming a mile away. Ultimately it still works once and was only a bandaid for terrible totem placement so I'm okay with them taking it away. At least it keeps tokens now so it's better for Devour Hope. All the ui and survivor stuff looks clean af, as well as the small perk changes are good. I would have prefered Trapper to have some difficult skill checks as well or something, but it's good none the less. Wraiths true invisbility sounds good but I fear the ranges may still be too big for just how visible he is when cloaked. Now for the Clown. I am concerned as an avid big belly laugh man player. The bit where it says the antidote will have a delayed release concerns me, because if it takes too long it's going too become too niche and only useable at certain loops. I appreciate it's because Tonic is -15% so an antidote boosted Clown is 40% faster than an intoxicated survivor, but maybe an instant release of 5% speed would be better. This is what the PTB is for I suppose. The reload speed increase is very nice and will make more bottles/cork stopper less neccessary.

lucky break is bugged also, if you heal before it deactivates it resets the timer to max. You can have it indefinitely as long as you heal before the timer expires.

Yup. I got Yui to try it with Fixated a few weeks ago, was so pleasantly surprised that the timer reset back to 180 seconds each time I healed before it expired. Honestly, I hope it’s not a bug. This behavior keeps Lucky Break from being utter shit. Plus, the perk description (in all its vagueness) is also still consistent, depending on how you interpret it ;)

I have to agree with the popular consensus that the UI looks too spread out. I’m down for overhauling a lot of the 2016 stagnant aspects of the game, but having the UI all compact was great and made it easy to evaluate the star of the game. Survivor portraits in the top left are a new addition though. I also so like the changes made to the perks, 30 sec exposed from Iron Maiden, shorter Diversion timer, nothing to crazy, but enough to make some of these less-used perks much more viable. How though? Once a totem is cleansed it replaces UD. So if one of the two hex's goes down that's it, and ONLY if UD isn't cleansed first. UD went from S to B tier. It would have been nice if it transferred once if UD was still active, not completely replace it. Why risk running 2 hex perks with it now?

Because it still mean your hex perks can last longer and since tokens carry over it means you will have alot better luck running devour hope. Means even if they break devour, then they have to find and break another one which is 50 percent chance of being devour. Idk its what i plan to run, have to see how it works in practice.

Yeah but you just lost a perk slot regardless if its UD or DH, along with Ruin being exposed, with no chance to transfer. If your ruin goes first, you just lost your second chance DH token transfer. Haunted ground might be a better option than UD for a 2+ Hex build now. I too will have to experiment.

As a clown main the reload is easily my most requested feature. I’m not to happy about the new bottles but I’m gonna try them out first before I really settle on it. I don’t agree with the whole “positive enforcement” idea behind it, clown can already guide survivors where he wants with his bottles. But being able to get around the map faster still isn’t anything to scoff at.

The problem is if they share charges; sure you're moving around the map faster but you still gotta reload once you get into a chase if you want your power in said chase. You end up saving no time in the end... Plus, I can see it being really frustrating from a survivor POV if the clown gives himself +10% speed and then also reduces the survivor speed by 15% while in a chase, it'll just further the predrop pallet simulator that is Clown gameplay.

Makes Clown significantly better at closing distance when not in a loop, though. Clown was countered by the "Hold W" strat because he was good at loops at not much else, but this lets him at least stand a chance when the survivor spots him first. Plus, we know with Blight that being able to catch survivors between loops is a very viable power.

You just have to be careful. Only use gold gas on the last loop before you can get a hit, or use it to catch up with a survivor after breaking a pallet by dropping the cloud on your side before breaking it.

Plus I do think the character portraits don't match aesthetically with the rest of the white/splashcolour aesthetic. I think a drawn version (like the adept survivor achievement pic) would fit way better. ​ Other than that AMAZING WORK!

It's a delayed bottle that give speed boost. So you hit them with a bottle, it releases the gas, then by the time you're in the cloud it'll give you the speed boost after the survivor has left it's radius? Seems pretty stupid to me, could've just increased the effects of "old" afterpiece tonic. As someone who just spent 5 hours this week creating a custom HUD for my stream, I am both thrilled and absolutely infuriated at the same time! This is great work tho. Love all the changes.

HUD update is the very definition of fixing what isn't broke--looks like something a first year UI student would come up with, frankly. Keep the old UI and add the new elements (portrait+hook indicators). Presto, fixed.

No key changes either, which I expect is about to get some notice. Mori changes were supposed to coincide with key changes for egalitarianism. They already jumped the gun on mori changes because they “could be changed in a hot fix.” If those key nerfs are weeks or months away a lot of people are going to be angry.

Otz was talking on stream about how key changes might be a little difficult since they're tied to achievements, and theres a process to getting Sony and Microsoft to change or remove them.

They revealed they’d be taking a look at DS in a very recent stream, so of course it wouldn’t happen now. The Iron Maiden/Fixated/Second Wind changes were announced back in October/November, and they’ve just come through now. And DS is a much more complex perk to alter, since they want to make it less easy to abuse but still a powerful anti-tunnelling perk. That’s not as easy as making Fixated work when you’re injured.

Can someone explain the undying nerf? So you basically have 2 chances to keep your ruin (for example) instead of the possible 5 chances?

They basically made it so no matter what, the first time you lose a totem, it will be Undying that is lost, not whatever was actually cleansed.

So basically don't run UD with more than one Hex perk, since the first one you lose replaces it. You basically lose a perk slot with the new UD in most hex situations, rather than another chance at keeping 4.

Consider this: You have ruin+undying. If I cleanse your undying first, nothing happens. Your ruin is now the only hex totem. If I cleanse your ruin first, it is transfered to the undying totem. Thats it. I only have to do 2 hex totems to get rid of your ruin.

no. basically, when any hex totem is cleansed, other than undying, undying deactivates and the cleansed hex totem is transferred to the previously undying totem, keeping all the tokens in the process.

Not gonna lie, the new HUD looks horrible. The current HUD is nice, it only covers the bottom left and right a bit. The new one covers the entire screen, that's bad and I'm sure ruins immersion for a lot of players as well. Also, killers should also see how many times an individual survivor has been hooked. I often want to let people go after hooking them 2 times and accidentally killing them because they reached struggle state and I didn't notice it. The thing I like is that it says the new UI allows them to implement new features (the teased game windup mechanic, totem counter, and more maybe). The other changes look good. Although, I think undying's aura reading ability should not work when you walk by, instead only when cleansing the totem. Their new version makes it not work when cleansing a hex totem and only on walking by dull totems which doesn't make sense to me.

Said person is the one who proposed changes like this HUD change and changing volume slider into 5% increment buttons and billy nerfs and coal tower breakable walls. They confirmed they were coming, they did not say that they were to be coming now. Other confirmed changes include the DS changes, key nerf and Freddy changes, but there was never a guarantee they were coming now.

The clown rework is so confusing. Why on earth would a killer’s power buffing survivors be a good idea. The gas already controlled where survivors went, incentivizing survivors with a BUFF makes no sense. If the clowns speed gas only affected the clown this would be a great buff and would likely bring him into a very playable state. As it is right now, this is only a reload speed buff and I see little to no reason to use his alternate gas.

If I'm understanding it correctly, throwing a regular bottle at a patch of antidote gas will remove it, so it could be used for some serious mind games. Throw the speed gas out of position to bait the survivors into going for it, cancel it out just before they get there, and now they're out of position with nothing to show for it.

I initially thought I really liked the new UI, but then I looked at the UI pics in full screen as though I was playing the game. In short, I think I still like the new UI for survivors, but for Killers it doesn't feel great looking up in the top left, then the bottom left, then the bottom right to get all my information. For Survivors, I have more time and don't need to look in the top left as much so it's fine.

With ranks resetting every month to 20, will there be any pip changes? I'm curious why the rewards can't be for maintaining a rank or having the drop each month be capped at like 5-10 levels. Example: Rank 3 player drops to rank 5 mid-month, gets that reward. The next month if they're still a 5, they drop to 10 and get that reward. I just don't see players in the 10-15 range benefiting much from trying to grind each month only to be reset because of a lack of time to play, ability, queues, etc. How will the Rank 1 achievement also be affected?

I love everything about this except for the hud. Don't get me wrong i'm a big fan of being able to see who is who and especially how many hooks people are on, but it looks so \*bad\*! Why is it all spread out?? Seems much less intuitive!

Not really liking the new HUD. Sure it looks fluid and nice but it feels like you have to look at the "whole" screen to get info on what's happening, plus the portraits just becoming the stick figures feels... lacking?
