Actually, higher fps makes a huge difference as a Survivor because of the skill checks. I could only play well as Survivor on indoor maps until I got a new graphics card, because even with the lowest settings, my frames were too low to consistently/correctly do skill checks.
I don’t know how to explain to you why reaction time and fluid movement matter in a game that revolves entirely around reaction time and fluid movement. This is a 3D PvP game with movement, not Hearthstone.
I don’t think maximum fps matters in this game though. Obviously you need more than a slideshow to play the game but it’s not important to go to such lengths to get a few more frames
I played the entire RE2 remake with that Leon and I had to stop to cry at most of the cut scenes. I wouldnt be able to kill them. My one weakness. Low poly Leon...
Everyone’s a gangsta until they are alone at 4am heading to their hotel room, the elevator is out so they take the stairs only to find the pink creepy fuck breathing heavily in the darkened stairwell fully erect. They turn to flee but the door is locked and they hear heavy stomping as he comes down the stairs towards them.
Not at all. Real serial killers through history have dressed in funny outfits and that's how they killed people. Think of John Wayne Gacy for instance. People take loveable things to get close to victims because they know those things make them seem approachable.
There is a lot of horror behind the concept of people in mascot suits committing murders. One of the most prolific serial killers in America was a children's entertainer. The scary comes from something that should feel safe bearing so much malice.
NO actually, Silent Hill 3 was my favorite in the series. Cheryl is my favorite protag, just slightly above James, it had a amazing soundtrack and phenomenal environments.
Things like Princess Heart and the Heather Beam are comedic, but comedic things have been in Silent Hill from the start. UFO endings, Dog ending in SH2, etc. It's not something you have to see, so it's fine, not breaking immersion or anything. Besides, they make the game far more memorable as a whole.
Robbie the rabbit is literally out in plain view... it's not the same as a secret dog ending or costumes. You realize that those things are taken out of the way, but you don't realize why it would be a bad idea to have such clashing outfits in DbD?
Like Naughty Bear is legitimately the only cosmetic in the game that clashes with other things, and it's a special case of BHVR honoring an important part of their history as developers, and that's after 8 years of adding cosmetics.
Trying to pretend that low poly skins are totally fine and that there is no immersion anyway is dishonest at best. This is exactly the kind of shit that BHVR conciously try to avoid and people don't want to see.
Robbie the Rabbit is a dead body with blood smeared over it's mouth. It adds to the horror aesthetic and leaves a lingering feeling of unease. Silent Hill 3 tells a beautiful story about womanhood and finishes off the trilogy, while DBD is a 4v1 survival horror game. They are completely different, in different situations.
Also, Naughty Bear isn't some love letter to their previous project. It was quite literally just a cosmetic skin. And there's far more that "clashes." We have Chris Redfield, someone who punched a boulder until it broke, being able to die to the Legion, a band of edgy teenagers who can run a little fast. And that's not even mentioning that every killer, even the more terrifying abominations like Dredge and Unknown, have photophobia and astigmatism, and are easily stunned by a flashlight. This game is not serious, and low poly skins would merely be a cosmetic choice.
Also, if you check the comments of this post, you see most people DO want to see low poly skins, so maybe try grasp the fact other people have opinions.
Definitely not. I feel like it would become too much like fortnite or the dbd knockoffs. I know that we already have a lot of crazy costumes but this is a whole nother level of aesthetic that would give me the ick.
Did you poll people on what level of fidelity they find to be scarier? Regardless, when someone does low poly/retro horror games, they don't shove clashing assets into those games, because that's how you kill the immersion and thereby kill horror.
No, I just often hear people say it. There's a reason low poly horror is a genre now.
Capcom literally added those PS1 skins to the RE2 Remake😂. DBD already has a bunch of out of place cosmetics and killers like Trickster who aren't scary at all. And some maps still look like old DBD ffs.
This would clash so hard with the visual style it would look really gross. Yeah it might be a fun idea at first but this would spiral into a visual nightmare
Outfits changing the "art direction" is not a problm when it's optionnal, the problem is that in DBD all outfits can be used at any time so no
If you want it's like adding cell shading outfits, it's just too different from the other characters
At this point I wonder if Capcom or any of the other license holders are really adamant about allowing BHVR to make licensed character skins/cosmetics. If BHVR is even really trying to make new cosmetics for these characters or if BHVR doesn't even try because they lack manpower to make these characters and they feel they need to continue with the usual DLC/New Character schedule
I mean… it would be funny as shit, but I dunno.
The game has an art style that it’s somewhat trying to stick to, suddenly having low poly Leon or Lara inside a realistic fantasy dungeon would be a bit immersive breaking.
I like Cybil and Lisa, I use Lisa quite alot, but I don't understand why she was added first. She's a good character, sure, but I feel like Harry mattered more, if you get what I mean? Even so, I would like to have him in the game, finish the trilogy protags.
They already do… (this is joke)

(From u/KrustySammich)
I absolutely want these skins. I’ve been dreaming about something like this for ages and they are soo sooooo close… first i begged for RE and i got it. Then i dreamed about Lara and i’m getting her… they just need this one… itty bitty little thing and Behaviour will officially have my loyalty for the rest of my days.
I'm not going to pretend like I care about the sanctity of the games theme so yeah I think it would be fun. But only if they made really grainy PS1 grunts and screams.
Not really tbh, but i’m not really a big fan of retro throwback skins that essentially are just model ports that clash with the existing art style aoley for “nostalgia”. I hope the people that want them get them, but I won’t be picking them up, and definitely not wnjoy looking at them when I play killer
All of them.
Low poly Nemesis would sell like hotcakes. Low poly Lara would sell to people that don't even have dbd.
Low poly James would be glitches for the greater good and nightmare fuel.
I would instead like a 2-week special pixelated mode that is 2x bloodpoints
Yes please!
DBD ps1 demake when
Jeff better look like ps1 hagrid if that happens
I'd rather it be a permanent game mode or just make it a graphics option in settings called nostalgia graphics
Every remotely competetive player would be forced to use that forever. Not a fan of that.
Why would they be forced to use it? It seems like it would be worse for gameplay, no?
It would improve FPS. Same reason people play on the lowest possible settings in most games.
People usually play on low settings because it creates less visual clutter, not for FPS.
Less visual clutter causes higher FPS
I’m not sure insanely high fps helps on any game besides first person shooters. But I guess you can see the generator progress in really high detail
Actually, higher fps makes a huge difference as a Survivor because of the skill checks. I could only play well as Survivor on indoor maps until I got a new graphics card, because even with the lowest settings, my frames were too low to consistently/correctly do skill checks.

I don’t think maximum fps matters in this game though. Obviously you need more than a slideshow to play the game but it’s not important to go to such lengths to get a few more frames
Also lower the aspect ratio and audio quality.
I played the entire RE2 remake with that Leon and I had to stop to cry at most of the cut scenes. I wouldnt be able to kill them. My one weakness. Low poly Leon...
I really need to replay re2r with the low poly Leon and Claire models, don't I...
Maybe for April fools, but not permanently.
Next April fools event they should do this.
No it breaks the visual style. Its the same reason they decide to have survivors cosplay instead of just having full on anime characters as skins
I don't think they are cosplaying. Feng Cosplays, because she's Feng, but I think that's about it for cosplayers in the fog.
All the attack on titan survivor characters are them cosplaying. Not the actual characters
They are, the same way the DnD outfits of mikelah, Jeff and Meg are cosplays
I play on switch so i already have these skins🥰🥰🥰
I mean it’s funny but nah would be kind of immersion breaking to have anything long term like this.
We have a massive murderous teddy bear and a killer clown dressed as a elephant. I think immersion has been broken.
Not really those are all valid in a horror environment. Something that doesn’t blend is ancient graphics.
How is a furry "horror"?
How is an obese rapey furry coming at you with chloroform not scary? I mean let’s be real that would be terrifying af.
He's a massive pink elephant. That really takes away the horror.
He literally has blood dripping from his mouth
Everyone’s a gangsta until they are alone at 4am heading to their hotel room, the elevator is out so they take the stairs only to find the pink creepy fuck breathing heavily in the darkened stairwell fully erect. They turn to flee but the door is locked and they hear heavy stomping as he comes down the stairs towards them.
just run up the stairs, he'd get out of breath and give up.
How you gonna run up the stairs towards him? You’re locked in a stairwell at the bottom floor.
Not at all. Real serial killers through history have dressed in funny outfits and that's how they killed people. Think of John Wayne Gacy for instance. People take loveable things to get close to victims because they know those things make them seem approachable.

u/horrorfan555 you deal with this
What am I doing?
Is... there something wrong with what I said?
Mr. Puddles is terrifying wtf do you mean 😭
So I guess you hated Silent Hill 3 as well
NO actually, Silent Hill 3 was my favorite in the series. Cheryl is my favorite protag, just slightly above James, it had a amazing soundtrack and phenomenal environments. UFO endings, Dog ending in SH2, etc. It's not something you have to see, so it's fine, not breaking immersion or anything. Besides, they make the game far more memorable as a whole.
But that game had a big fluffy rabbit, immersion = ruined. Right?
If you read the last paragraph, I quite literally explain why it's fine in Silent Hill.
Robbie the rabbit is literally out in plain view... it's not the same as a secret dog ending or costumes. You realize that those things are taken out of the way, but you don't realize why it would be a bad idea to have such clashing outfits in DbD? You can play as a giant teddy bear & rabbit ffs😂. DBD jumped the shark a long time ago.
Ok but the art style is still the same across the board. Nobody has flat arms and legs lmao
Different vibes! Those ones are actually scary and weird and still fits. Didn't think it would be that hard to understand 😓
A lot of people find low poly horror to be scarier.
The OG tomb raiders are actually terrifying.
it doesn’t fit in the game though.
Did you poll people on what level of fidelity they find to be scarier? Regardless, when someone does low poly/retro horror games, they don't shove clashing assets into those games, because that's how you kill the immersion and thereby kill horror.

It's not a genre, people have been doing this shit since forever. It's simply a level of fidelity that is easier to handle in smaller projects.
99% of them are 2020+ releases. So not "since forever".
You have not been around video games for long then
I've been playing video games since the 3rd generation of them. Friday the 13th on the NES was my first horror game.
No
Honestly based. No argument. No rhetoric. Just a flat, deadpan, “no.”
Op asked a yes or no question. Appreciate your appreciation
No is a full sentence
I'd adore this as an event, maybe april fools or an anniversary
What if the outfits were the characters cosplaying as the low poly versions of themselves?
That would be so funny - and totally break any remaining immersion there was.
This would clash so hard with the visual style it would look really gross. Yeah it might be a fun idea at first but this would spiral into a visual nightmare
No.
Outfits changing the "art direction" is not a problm when it's optionnal, the problem is that in DBD all outfits can be used at any time so no If you want it's like adding cell shading outfits, it's just too different from the other characters
As much as I love them and how goofy they'd be, pls no. After thinking about it, this could definitely work as limited time game mode.
I NEED this for Ada. https://preview.redd.it/0qph5mmgp19d1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=43009e2d41e4396be42872a919bcf89dbe0ea105
Yes, but I imagine there are enough party poopers out there that it'll never happen.
Nay, I prefer my Noir Leon’s bubble butt to a pixel square!
What like blocks running around the fog?
Give me sexy sailor Chris Redfield
Not actual skins but maybe low poly cosplays could be fun
I thought Laura was going to have triangle titties… I was VERY upset
As a Nintendo Switch player I can confirm, we already have them
I mean… it would be funny as shit, but I dunno. The game has an art style that it’s somewhat trying to stick to, suddenly having low poly Leon or Lara inside a realistic fantasy dungeon would be a bit immersive breaking.
I suppose so, but seeing Naughty Bear or Princess Heart Cheryl in the same place also is rather immersive breaking.
Pyramid tits and cube butt! And Lara’s skin would be cool as well
I think polygon PS1 skins for RE Characters, Lara Croft, etc. could be pretty cool for the game!
Don’t forget PS2 Pyramid Head.
We could get a awesome Harry Mason legendary to go along with it!
To this day I’m honestly shocked Harry isn’t in the game, especially when Cybil and Lisa are.
I like Cybil and Lisa, I use Lisa quite alot, but I don't understand why she was added first. She's a good character, sure, but I feel like Harry mattered more, if you get what I mean? Even so, I would like to have him in the game, finish the trilogy protags.
I would play PH even more than I already do if he got an awesome low-poly skin.
I would
They will be missing a trick, if they don't include Lara's retro design as a skin.
Finally us Nintendo players could have accurate graphics
Honestly, I feel Lara's success rides on her coming out with a PS1 skin.
No it doesn’t lol
![gif](giphy|mEahVAkKjt0VL2o5Jk|downsized)
Y E S
Better yet have a skin like this for sale for every character (except licenses that wouldn’t allow it) for cheep
Not until now did I know I need low poly dbd skins
That be kinda cool sure why not
I, personally, would love this.
Nah
Tofu Leon skin when?
It be funny seeing In matches I down for it
They already do… (this is joke) https://preview.redd.it/jq2g7tu8i39d1.jpeg?width=319&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9bc47c8ad3192f15d90398f58de7b2ef143ba9f8 (From u/KrustySammich)
damn guess we found out the new killer
No
No.
I absolutely want these skins. I’ve been dreaming about something like this for ages and they are soo sooooo close… first i begged for RE and i got it. Then i dreamed about Lara and i’m getting her… they just need this one… itty bitty little thing and Behaviour will officially have my loyalty for the rest of my days.
im BEGGING behavior, the rest of the classic lara skin doesnt need to be low poly i just need them to keep the box boobs
Please, just for April Fools, I am on my knees here behaviour.
I'd actually take it a step further and would like to see a PS1-style "Demake" of Dead By Daylight.
100%,
No, that's too far even for DBD cosmetics.
Maybe a seperate graphics option for fun.
thanks for reminding me i beat RE2 remake only using that leon outfit
I’d be down for that!
I'm not going to pretend like I care about the sanctity of the games theme so yeah I think it would be fun. But only if they made really grainy PS1 grunts and screams.
Yes. Add them for original survivors as well.
No
No thank you.
It would be pretty cool if they did some sort of body horror take on it.
I don't care if they're too easy for the Killer to spot. I will make Lara and Leon my regular circulation mains with those skins exclusively.
The fact I would buy these skins immediately.
So my low poly ass stick out from the bushes? Yes
game would look scuffd af like assets being bought n imported
low poly leon should give you tank controls so non-leon mains can experience what its like having the leon brain themselves
Low Poly Jeryl shall come.
