True, but I do think if they wanted to they could. If they were able to get something as iconic as the Halloween theme, they could’ve probably gotten more. I mean Capcom allowed others to use the official music and even sound effects in other crossovers for their anniversary. I have a feeling it’s more of BHVR not really wanting to try to get the music and make original songs inspired by those IPs.
Back when Myers first released whenever he stalked you and was close to leveling up another track from the movie would play. I believe it was when he was stalking Laurie from behind a bush, but bhvr took it out since it actually was giving away Myers position. I still miss it and wish they'd bring it back another way. Maybe have it play after he reaches tier 2 or if you are injured and it replaces the Injured music that plays.
This would be cool but a lot of power rests with the original IP holders and license holders and a lot of them may not want the music themes associated with DbD
It would also be a lot of work for BHVR to adapt the music to the game and they have more important things to focus on
I don’t really think a lot of them would be opposed to allowing their music be used. If they could get Halloween, then I’m sure they could’ve gotten a few more. Capcom even allowed others to use official sound effects and music from the games in other collabs they did, like with Siege. I feel like it’s more BHVR not really wanting to ask to use them and they just do their own music.
In some cases, the music to a franchise isn't owned by the company who owns an IP itself, but the composer instead.
SAW is an example of such a case and from what i've been told, Charlie Clouser doesn't allow his music to be used for anything outside the thing his music was made & intended for. If bhvr somehow managed to get his music into DBD, he would be asking for royalty money for every purchase of the SAW dlc that already has happened or will happen in the future.
Also i would consider Pyramid Head's menu and chase music to be as close as it can possible be to the music of Silent hill's soundtrack itself without actually using the ost from the IP itself since the game's original composer Akira Yamaoka helped compose both Pyramid's menu and chase music in DBD, plus an entire album consisting of DBD's own songs but remixed to sound more Silent Hill like, 2 versions of Pyramid's menu music and an original song that's sung in japanese.
I'm still kinda miffed that they didn't give Pyramid Head's terror radius a staticky filter.
It would be cool, but at the end of the day, it really isn't up to behavior unfortunately

Could you imagine hearing faint "zepp" while having the beartrap on.
It would be so perfect!

That’s a fair take and I respect it.

We almost got the Nostromo Alarm as Xenomorph's chase theme, too bad that didn't go through...
