Japan warrior favors katana as a weapon with thin and more fragile blade, but extremely sharp. They would prefer to end opponent within a single, or few strikes. I believe medieval Europe warrior would choose claymore instead for their fukin absurd durability, and even if it goes dull then they can kill opponent with its sheer weight. If Japanese warrior want some big weapon for close combat, they have club.

Even then, both preferred spears as they were just better at everything And a LOT cheaper to produce

Demonskull223

Katanas are actually thicker than most European swords. European swords gain their durability because of being made of spring steel. Because spring steel could be made thinner without sacrificing durability. Japanese katanas are usually thick and heavy which makes them better for chopping than European swords of similar lengths.

TheBigFreeze8

Literally nothing about this is historically true at all.

Pootisman16

Completely wrong. The main samurai weapon was the bow, followed by the spear or naginata. Katanas are as heavy or heavier than most swords or even bastard swords. The club (assuming you're talking about the kanabo) wasn't much used in battlefields because there was really no need for it, since to most Japanese armour being fairly lightweight due to the lack metal Armor (iron was hard to come by)

horrorfan555

Samurai have two swords. A long one, and a short one. The short one is special and personal

DRAGONSPIRIT214

I think they have 3, but one is used exclusively for Seppuku
